The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 38.2
This is how the System’s earlier mention of readers’ overwhelmingly negative reviews and Lin Luoluo being called in to fix the story came about.
Lin Luoluo sighed.
There is no way to have the best of both worlds.
So, what will the author write in the extra chapter? Will they choose to fulfill the readers’ wishes, or stick to their original intention?
Lin Luoluo didn’t know; she could only wait for the ‘sword’ of the extra chapter to fall.
They arrived at the hospital. After paying the fare, Lin Luoluo went to find Zhang Qiu.
When she arrived, Zhang Qiu had a visitor in her ward—a very professionally dressed woman.
The woman had long, wavy hair and was wearing a red three-piece business suit. The dark red silk shirt underneath was open down to her chest, and she wore a silver chain around her neck. She looked incredibly stylish, but the seriousness of her expression suppressed the slight allure she carried, making her appear much more solemn.
The two turned their heads to look at the doorway. Lin Luoluo awkwardly put down the hand that was pushing the door open.
“Did I interrupt you?” she asked carefully.
Zhang Qiu shook her head and smiled: “This is my teacher, Pei Qin.”
Pei Qin nodded at Lin Luoluo.
She had just finished her afternoon court session and came to see Zhang Qiu. She frowned a little when she heard Zhang Qiu was checking out and wanted her to stay a few more days.
Zhang Qiu shook her head at Pei Qin, then introduced her friend to her teacher: “This is my friend, Luoluo.”
Lin Luoluo suddenly felt nervous. She walked in awkwardly: “Hello, Teacher.”
Pei Qin looked at Lin Luoluo, her beautiful eyes softening with a smile. She nodded to Lin Luoluo: “Hello.”
She then turned to Zhang Qiu and said, “Since the doctor says you can be discharged, I won’t force you to stay in the hospital, but you’ll have to work overtime with me this weekend. I can give you a few extra days off after you’re discharged, right?”
Zhang Qiu thought about it and nodded. Her graduation thesis was also taking shape.
Pei Qin smiled and said, “Since someone is here to see you, I won’t stay too long. Keep this hard drive. It contains videos of my court appearances over the years. It should be helpful to you.”
Zhang Qiu was stunned. She was just worried about lacking practical experience, and her teacher immediately provided what she needed. She pursed her lips and thanked her sincerely: “Thank you, Teacher.”
Pei Qin waved her hand, “I didn’t do much.”
I didn’t even take good care of my intern.
Pei Qin felt a bit guilty. She also had something to say to Zhang Qiu about Lu Feng’s program, but since there were others present, she decided against it and waved goodbye.
After seeing her teacher out, Lin Luoluo and Zhang Qiu sat side by side on the hospital bed. Lin Luoluo pondered for a moment and then said, “Teacher Pei is so cool!”
Zhang Qiu: ?
Zhang Qiu: “Isn’t she beautiful?”
Lin Luoluo clapped her hands and explained: “Teacher Pei has a heroic and dashing aura; she looks so cool!”
That was true.
Zhang Qiu smiled and asked, “What about me? Don’t I look cool?”
Lin Luoluo looked at Zhang Qiu with shy eyes. Zhang Qiu’s fair face had regained its color, her eyebrows were like distant dark mountains, and her eyes were like polished lacquer, making it hard to look directly at her. Her nose was straight like a mountain ridge, and her cherry lips were pink. Lin Luoluo dared not look any longer, cleared her throat, and said, “How can you compare? You two have your own distinct characteristics.”
“What are my characteristics then?” Zhang Qiu was genuinely curious.
Lin Luoluo stammered, too embarrassed to say.
Zhang Qiu saw her pink cheeks flush and laughed, not pressing her for an answer.
She got up to pour a glass of water for Lin Luoluo.
Lin Luoluo looked at her back and silently thought: Actually, it’s gentleness.
Zhang Qiu was always very gentle with her, like water, intangible yet enveloping her.
Zhang Qiu handed the water over: “Have a drink.”
She had noticed Lin Luoluo’s mouth looked a little dry.
Lin Luoluo moistened her throat and heard Zhang Qiu ask, “Why did you come back so quickly?”
Lin Luoluo scratched her head, embarrassed: “The talk didn’t work out.” She glossed over it lightly, “We weren’t suitable.”
Zhang Qiu burst out laughing: “If someone didn’t know the background, hearing us talk, they’d think you went on a blind date.”
Lin Luoluo also laughed, her smile a little silly.
“That’s true. An unsuitable group having to complete a joint assignment is quite similar to an unsuccessful blind date.”
Zhang Qiu was amused again.
Lin Luoluo checked the time and asked, “Can we leave the hospital now? I’ve booked a restaurant; we’ll be there just in time for dinner.”
Zhang Qiu nodded: “They don’t do rounds in the afternoon, and nothing much is happening. We just need to be back in the evening.”
Lin Luoluo understood, drank the water in the paper cup in one go, jumped off the bed, threw the paper cup into the trash, and reached out to Zhang Qiu: “Then let’s go.”
Zhang Qiu looked down at her hospital gown and gave a wry smile.
“Wait a moment, let me change.”
Lin Luoluo ran out, her face flushed.
Zhang Qiu hadn’t returned home since being admitted to the hospital. Her previous clothes smelled of alcohol, so she simply washed them herself at the hospital.
Fortunately, the company reimbursed her medical expenses, and she was in a single room, which had all the necessities. Zhang Qiu only needed to buy a bag of laundry detergent from the store downstairs.
After changing into her clothes, Zhang Qiu felt like she was back in the world of the living. She wondered where Luoluo would take her to eat. Zhang Qiu didn’t want to be a spoilsport, so she didn’t make too many requests.
It wasn’t until Lin Luoluo took her to the Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant and ordered a pile of warming and nourishing food.
Lin Luoluo picked up the soup ladle and first served Zhang Qiu a bowl of Old Hen Soup, saying, “Hurry up and drink it. This was specially brewed for you.”
Zhang Qiu saw the red dates, longan, and Chinese angelica inside and couldn’t help but smile wryly. Was this not something for someone in confinement? She remembered her grandmother used to love stewing this Old Hen Soup for her aunt when she was recovering after childbirth, along with Chinese yam, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and a few small side dishes.
Neither of them ate much. After finishing the chicken soup, Zhang Qiu was a little full after eating a chicken drumstick and was perfectly satisfied after eating some green vegetables.
Her stomach felt warm and very comfortable.
Zhang Qiu had expected Lin Luoluo to take her out for barbecue or hot pot, as those were usually the only choices for student union gatherings.
And when she went out with Gu Beichen, he would usually choose a high-end Western restaurant.
Zhang Qiu was not a picky eater and ate everything, so she had never voiced any objections. In fact, having lived with her grandmother, she had long developed a Chinese palate and preferred stir-fries and soups. Lin Luoluo had coincidentally stumbled upon Zhang Qiu’s preference.
“Are you full?” Lin Luoluo rested her chin on her hand and looked at Zhang Qiu.
Zhang Qiu nodded.
Lin Luoluo had someone clear the dishes and ordered a pot of tea. She performed a tea ceremony for Zhang Qiu.
Looking at the green tea pushed in front of her, Zhang Qiu smiled and picked it up for a small sip. She hadn’t expected the seemingly boisterous Luoluo to be able to settle down and do something like this.
Zhang Qiu couldn’t really distinguish the quality of tea. To her, tea and plain water were both for quenching thirst.
When Lin Luoluo asked if it tasted good, she honestly shook her head: “I can’t tell the difference, but it feels quite refreshing.”
Lin Luoluo burst into laughter, saying cheerily, “You’re the first person to say that.” After saying this, she quickly added, afraid that Zhang Qiu would misunderstand: “Actually, I can’t taste the difference either. My family just made me learn it, so I did, but if you ask about the quality of the tea, I honestly don’t know.”
She winked at Zhang Qiu, and Zhang Qiu also laughed.
Bathed in the fragrant laughter filling the tea room, the sky completely darkened.
Lin Luoluo and Zhang Qiu came out of the medicinal cuisine restaurant, and Lin Xiangdong was standing at the entrance to pick them up.
The person Lin family worried about most now was Lin Luoluo. As soon as it got dark, Lin Xiangdong contacted her. Hearing that Lin Luoluo was with Zhang Qiu at the medicinal cuisine restaurant, Lin Xiangdong waited until they finished eating before showing up.
He first drove Zhang Qiu to the hospital. Lin Luoluo was a little reluctant to leave. Zhang Qiu stood at the hospital entrance, waving them off.
Lin Luoluo sat in the car, gazing wistfully out the window until Zhang Qiu shrunk to a small dot.
Lin Xiangdong saw this in the rearview mirror and teased, “You two really look like a pair of young, smitten lovers who can’t bear to separate.”
“Go away,” Lin Luoluo spat at him, “We’re clearly a pair of above-board young sweethearts showing affection!”
After saying this, her face was slightly red, but because of the darkness and the dim interior of the car, Lin Xiangdong didn’t see it.
If he had, he would probably be alarmed by Lin Luoluo’s current state.
Her eyes were watery, her brow held a hint of spring-like affection, and she looked shy and bashful, like a young girl in love.
