The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 32
“Hello, excuse me, where is room 308?” Lin Xiangdong finally found his way to the inpatient department and asked the nurse at the information desk.
“It’s the room on your left, ahead,” the nurse replied.
“Thank you,” Lin Xiangdong walked briskly toward the room.
After confirming it was 308, Lin Xiangdong knocked before entering.
Zhang Qiu was sitting sideways, leaning against the hospital bed, with Lin Luoluo lying beside her, sleeping in a sprawl.
Lin Xiangdong’s eyebrow twitched. If he recalled correctly, Zhang Qiu was the one who was rushed to the emergency room, right? How was Lin Luoluo sleeping on the patient’s bed?
Zhang Qiu looked at Lin Xiangdong with a calm expression, though the tips of her ears were slightly red. She whispered, “Luoluo fell asleep.”
“Are you alright?” Lin Xiangdong also lowered his voice to speak quietly.
Zhang Qiu shook her head: “The doctor said the bleeding wasn’t much. The bleeding stopped today, so I can be discharged tomorrow.”
“Thank goodness.” Lin Xiangdong smiled: “You passed out, and Luoluo was terrified. Why didn’t you look for us when you came? With me around, I’d like to see who would dare make you drink!”
Zhang Qiu shook her head: “I was working, it wasn’t convenient.”
Lin Xiangdong nodded, then said indignantly: “Your boss is really something, making a girl drink that much.”
Zhang Qiu’s eyes curved in a smile: “My boss is very nice. I just got too busy today and forgot to eat something beforehand. Is the cocktail party over?”
“It’s over.” Lin Xiangdong noticed Zhang Qiu’s IV drip was almost finished and raised his hand to press the call button, asking, “Is there more?”
Zhang Qiu nodded.
She glanced at Lin Luoluo, who was still asleep, and then told Lin Xiangdong: “I drew a person on my phone. See if you can find this person.”
Lin Xiangdong was puzzled, “What is it?”
A nurse happened to come in with the next bag of fluid, interrupting their conversation. After the nurse left, Zhang Qiu sent the drawing to Lin Xiangdong. He opened it and saw a man he didn’t recognize, who looked slick and greasy. Zhang Qiu’s drawing really captured the man’s oily features.
Lin Xiangdong: “Who is this?”
Zhang Qiu: “I discovered him trying to drug Luoluo at the party.”
“What?!” Lin Xiangdong’s voice sharply distorted, “Is Luoluo okay?” He reached out to wake Lin Luoluo, but Zhang Qiu stopped him.
“She’s fine. I knocked the drink over.”
Lin Xiangdong sighed in relief.
Lin Luoluo was finally awakened by their voices. She mumbled, “Stinky brother?” She scratched her head, her hand meeting air, and she suddenly woke up.
“Stinky brother, my hairpin is gone!” She abruptly sat up.
Zhang Qiu: “I saw you were uncomfortable while sleeping, so I put your hairpin on the table.”
“It’s here, it’s here,” Lin Xiangdong also chimed in.
Lin Luoluo saw the hairpin, gave a silly laugh, and asked, “Brother, when did you arrive?”
Lin Xiangdong affectionately patted Lin Luoluo’s head: “Stinky little sister, are you here to take care of Zhang Qiu, or to be taken care of by her?”
“You were half-dead asleep. I’ve been here for half the day. Zhang Qiu has already finished one bag of IV fluid.”
Lin Luoluo scratched her head, wanting to get out of bed, but Zhang Qiu stopped her.
“There are slippers in the ward, wear those.”
Lin Xiangdong brought the slippers over, and Lin Luoluo put them on and got out of bed.
Lin Xiangdong sighed: “Lin Luoluo, what did I tell you? I told you not to leave my sight, but you just wouldn’t listen.”
Lin Luoluo looked at him confusedly, “I didn’t leave, did I? I’m standing right in your line of sight now.”
“I’m not talking about now.” Lin Xiangdong was truly exasperated with her.
“Zhang Qiu just told me that a bad person tried to drug you. Do you have any impression of this person?”
Lin Xiangdong took out his phone and showed Lin Luoluo the portrait Zhang Qiu had drawn.
Lin Luoluo was dazed. She leaned in, shook her head: “I haven’t seen him.”
She asked dazedly: “When did this happen?”
Zhang Qiu pursed her lips, not wanting Lin Xiangdong to bring it up. She said: “It’s fine as long as you’re okay.”
Lin Luoluo looked at her. She was wearing a white shirt that complimented her figure, with narrow shoulders and a slender waist. Sitting on the bed, two buttons of the white shirt were undone, revealing a glimpse of her collarbone. Her gray suit jacket was draped over the side of the bed, and her hair was neatly pinned up at the back of her head.
This outfit…
Lin Luoluo had a great memory; as a liberal arts student, she usually only needed to read something two or three times to remember it, so she rarely forgot anything she’d seen. She felt like she had seen this outfit at the venue.
Her face went pale, and Lin Luoluo trembled as she asked: “Did we meet at the venue?”
Zhang Qiu was silent for a moment before turning her face away and saying: “I was just worried he had ill intentions towards you. It’s best to be careful.”
Lin Xiangdong looked left and right, perplexed.
Were they arguing? Just moments ago, they were close enough to sleep on the same bed.
How should he handle a spat between girls?
Before he could figure out an answer, Zhang Qiu said: “You’re here at the right time. Take Luoluo home. It’s getting dark, so go back early.”
“What about you?” Lin Xiangdong asked worriedly: “We’ll wait a little longer, until your IV is finished before we leave.”
“I’m fine. This IV will take a long time. It will be too late for you to wait.” Zhang Qiu repeated her original words, “I also want to be alone for a bit.”
Since she had said so, Lin Xiangdong naturally couldn’t stay any longer.
Lin Luoluo was still standing there, lost in thought, looking very conflicted.
Lin Xiangdong took her hand, “Let’s go home.”
Lin Luoluo slowly nodded, walking out of the ward with a sense of loss.
Lin Xiangdong asked her: “Did you two have a fight?”
Lin Luoluo shook her head.
“Is it because of what happened today?”
Lin Luoluo didn’t know.
“Right. Zhang Qiu just broke up with Gu Beichen, and he’s already trying to get an engagement with you. You’re her friend, too. If I had just broken up, and my friend was getting together with my ex-girlfriend, I’d be upset too.” Lin Xiangdong rambled on.
Lin Luoluo felt even worse. Her eyes got red, and her nose felt sore.
Holding back her tears, Lin Luoluo was on the verge of crying.
Could Zhang Qiu dislike her now?
In the ward, Zhang Qiu sighed and leaned against the wall.
If only Dongzi had arrived a little later…
Late at night, the lights in the hospital hallway were off. Zhang Qiu turned on her phone; she couldn’t sleep, staring at her chat history with Lin Luoluo.
She scrolled through it again and again.
There weren’t many pages in total, so she read them repeatedly.
It was late, and the hospital was quiet.
Zhang Qiu felt she should sleep.
Her biological clock was precise; she went to bed at eleven and woke up at six sharp.
She exited the chat history page but looked at it one last time, seeing a line that said “Typing…”
Zhang Qiu kept staring, watching the text flash and disappear.
What did Lin Luoluo want to say?
Lin Luoluo lay down in bed after getting home. On the way, Lin Xiangdong had repeatedly warned her to always be mindful of her safety, especially with her face blindness, and not to follow strangers.
Lin Luoluo considered herself not a child and wouldn’t make such a mistake. She drew out her reply, went home to find her parents hadn’t returned, busy with some engagement or other. She showered, changed into pajamas, and lay in bed, but she couldn’t fall asleep. Her mind was full of the events of the day. She covered her face in embarrassment, almost suffocating herself under the blanket.
Then she thought of Zhang Qiu, feeling even more agitated.
She simply took out her phone, hesitating whether to talk to Zhang Qiu.
She didn’t know what to say. She typed out an opening line for a long time, then deleted it.
As she struggled, the screen suddenly flashed, and a line of text popped up.
[Still awake so late.]
Lin Luoluo: !!!
Snap. She sat up straight.
She had never sat so properly even in a classroom. She replied seriously, word by word: [How did you know I was still awake?]
[Guessed.]
[You guessed so accurately.]
The conversation went cold again.
The other person didn’t reply for a long time. Lin Luoluo became anxious, wanting to hit her head on the ground, mentally searching for a topic. Suddenly, another line of text popped up.
[Want to watch a movie?]
Lin Luoluo paused: [Yes.]
[What do you like to watch?]
[Comedy.]
Silence again. Lin Luoluo held her phone like a pilgrim, looking at it, sitting cross-legged on the bed.
She kept checking, seeing that Zhang Qiu still hadn’t replied. She hesitated and tentatively sent a message: [Are you asleep?]
[No.]
Lin Luoluo didn’t know what to say again.
Why was dating so hard? She sighed.
She racked her brain for something Zhang Qiu would find interesting, but after searching, she realized she had nothing to offer; she couldn’t even tell a joke.
Why was she such a boring person?
Lin Luoluo’s face fell, and she sank into self-pity. Suddenly, the screen brightened again, and Zhang Qiu sent a link.
Lin Luoluo didn’t understand the meaning. She clicked it and found a live movie screening room with only her and Ye Luo Zhi Qiu inside.
At that moment, another message popped up on WeChat: [Will you keep me company for a movie?]
Lin Luoluo covered her mouth, trying her best not to laugh too loud, but the curve of her smile was so wide it hurt her mouth. She lay down and replied, holding her phone: [Okay.]
She put on her earphones, and the movie started playing.
The two occasionally chatted a little.
This wonderful feeling of watching the same movie in different locations made Lin Luoluo overjoyed.
She swung her feet, looking at the ID of Ye Luo Zhi Qiu, feeling as if she could see Zhang Qiu lying right behind the screen, as if they were lying side-by-side on one bed.
Holding her face, Lin Luoluo blushed.
It wasn’t like they hadn’t slept together.
Cough, cough. Sleeping on the same bed counted as sleeping together, right?
Blushing, she fell face down onto the bed.
