The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 27
“Huh?”
Lin Xiangdong looked at Gu Beichen in surprise, his expression as if Gu Beichen were an idiot.
Lin Xiangdong couldn’t help but say, “When we were abroad, Luoluo would fly back every winter and summer vacation, just to see you. Didn’t you know?”
Gu Beichen was even more surprised.
“We haven’t seen each other these past few years. Didn’t she fly back to be with your family?”
“Gu Beichen.” Lin Xiangdong took a deep breath, but couldn’t hold it back. “If you really don’t like her, just go talk to your family and make it clear. Why are you saying this to me now? You’ve been in a relationship before. Do you really not understand?”
Gu Beichen gave a wry smile.
He really didn’t understand.
He had always believed in feeling without acting, respecting boundaries, and keeping it hidden.
So, he had always deeply respected Zhang Qiu, but now that he thought about it, maybe that wasn’t love.
He had a long talk with Zhang Qiu yesterday.
Zhang Qiu spoke honestly about her feelings and apologized.
Gu Beichen suddenly felt a sense of bewilderment.
A three-year relationship, yet he was the only one in love? Zhang Qiu had felt nothing from start to finish.
Then who had he been dating for three years? His own fantasy?
“Forget it, let’s not talk about this.” Lin Xiangdong was irritated by his indifferent look. “I genuinely wanted you to consider Luoluo.”
“Our two families are equally matched in status, we know each other well, and my aunt watched Luoluo grow up. She’s very pleased with Luoluo and has mentioned several times wanting to arrange a marriage with my family.”
“Gu Beichen, honestly, if Luoluo didn’t like you, your Gu family wouldn’t be on my list of choices.”
After knowing them for a long time, Lin Xiangdong knew exactly what kind of people Gu Beichen’s parents were.
He disliked the snobbishness of Gu Beichen’s parents, how they acted one way in public and another in private. Yet, he believed that as long as the Lin family never fell, they would always be Lin Luoluo’s backing. With the way the Gu family likes to keep up appearances, as long as the Lin family was around, they wouldn’t dare cold-shoulder Lin Luoluo.
Gu Beichen’s lips tightened. Hearing the disdain in Lin Xiangdong’s words, his body tensed suddenly, but then he slumped his head in defeat.
In the past few days, the filter over his world had shattered, and he was starting to see the other sides of his parents and Xiaoxiao.
He thought his family was perfect and happy, but the reality was vastly different.
Gu Beichen’s voice was very low. “Lin Xiangdong, engagement and marriage aren’t things I can refuse. I’m just a puppet.”
“If Lin Luoluo really likes me, I can give her a chance.”
“The prerequisite is that she really likes me.”
“I don’t like being deceived.”
Gu Beichen raised his dark eyes to look at Lin Xiangdong, who was then startled to notice that in just a few days, the light in his brother’s eyes had actually gone out. He paused and said no more. This one sentence was enough.
The two sat or stood, waiting for a long time before the clinic door opened, and a row of doctors in white coats filed out. Finally, only Lin Luoluo’s attending physician remained in the room.
Lin Luoluo’s condition was better than they had imagined. Perhaps because she woke up in time, no major organ pathology occurred. However, no one could predict when her next attack would be, so the doctor’s advice was still for Lin Luoluo to rest at home for the time being, with someone constantly by her side.
Lin Luoluo knew the reason for her fainting and strongly expressed her wish to go back to school. If she stayed at home, how could she see Zhang Qiu?
Her father’s head ached from her pestering. He wondered, “Were you ever this fond of school before?”
Lin Luoluo grinned foolishly.
The past was the past; Zhang Qiu wasn’t at school before.
Now, it was Zhang Qiu’s last semester at school, and Lin Luoluo didn’t want to miss it. She spoke with conviction.
“I just transferred here and took a leave of absence. I wasn’t familiar with my classmates to begin with. If I take another leave now, by the time of the final exam, I still won’t know anyone.”
After considering it, Lin Father reluctantly nodded.
“Then you must have someone with you at all times. You can’t just run off by yourself, and you must tell Dad wherever you go.”
“I won’t.” Lin Luoluo guaranteed, “I’ll report to the family before going anywhere.”
Lin Father smiled helplessly at her. She was older now, and her thoughts were deeper. Lin Father could see through her intentions.
She just thought being at home was too boring and wanted to go out.
Young people are all the same; he was young once too.
The doctor chimed in appropriately, “Mr. Lin, Miss Lin’s illness is not serious. Her visual impairment may have been caused by the sudden fainting putting pressure on a certain cranial nerve. There is no disease in the eyes, but it may slightly affect her daily life.”
Lin Father nodded, feeling sad as he looked at the tall and graceful Lin Luoluo.
This was the treasure he held in his palm. He would rather be sick himself than have Lin Luoluo fall ill.
She still had a lifetime ahead of her to enjoy.
Unlike him, he was already old.
Lin Father rubbed Lin Luoluo’s head and said, “Let’s go, time to go home.”
The two left the consultation room. Lin Xiangdong and Gu Beichen were waiting at the door. Lin Father nodded to Gu Beichen and said warmly, “Luoluo can be discharged. Thank you, Beichen, for running this errand. I’ll have the driver take you home later.”
Gu Beichen politely said, “Thank you, Uncle, but there’s no need. I brought my driver, and he’s waiting outside the hospital.” He then looked at Lin Luoluo and said, “Luoluo, it’s truly wonderful that you’re okay.”
The arc of Lin Father’s smile widened. The coldness in his eyes towards Gu Beichen lessened, and he patted Lin Luoluo’s head, saying, “Why don’t you thank your Brother Gu?”
Lin Luoluo pouted, nodded, and said, “Thank you.” Then she lowered her head, not wanting to look at Gu Beichen.
Gu Beichen didn’t mind and excused himself.
On the way back to the ward, Lin Luoluo linked arms with her father and whispered, “Dad, do you not like Gu Beichen?”
The look he gave was so cold she had noticed it.
“Silly child.” Lin Father’s voice was full of affection. “Anyone watching a pig try to root up their precious jade cabbage would be unhappy.”
Pfft.
Hahahahaha.
Lin Luoluo’s body shook, and she couldn’t stop laughing.
Before she could laugh out loud, a burst of booming laughter erupted beside them. Lin Xiangdong’s face was distorted with laughter as he shouted to Lin Father, “Dad, why are you still rushing to arrange an engagement for my sister? If you ask me, letting her have fun for a few more years wouldn’t be a bad thing. Even if no one wants her later, I’ll take care of her! How much can she eat? It’s not like I can’t afford it.”
“Who said no one would want me!” Lin Luoluo glared furiously.
Stinky brother!
Lin Xiangdong made a face at her. Lin Luoluo clenched her little fists and chased after him to hit him.
Lin Father looked at his son and daughter with a genuine smile. However, the smile quickly turned into a hint of sadness.
He wondered how much longer they could be this happy. When children grow up, they are no longer completely tied to their parents. Although Lin Xiangdong was sensible, he would eventually start his own family, and so would Lin Luoluo.
Lin Father didn’t want her to walk her life path alone in the future.
He wanted her to have a house full of children and grandchildren, and to look back on her life and find nothing but smooth sailing.
She was his precious jewel, and he hoped she could be happy forever.
So, whatever she wanted, he would give it to her.
Lin Luoluo chased Lin Xiangdong until he was breathless. Lin Xiangdong, being tall with long legs, deliberately teased her, slipping away right as she was about to catch him. After several attempts, Lin Luoluo put her hands on her hips, glaring at Lin Xiangdong.
“Stinky brother!” she cursed.
“Little lazy pig,” Lin Xiangdong retorted.
“Stinky stinky stinky stinky brother!” Lin Luoluo wasn’t good at cursing, and a few back-and-forth phrases were enough to make Lin Xiangdong stop teasing her.
Lin Xiangdong walked over and pretended to let her hit him a few times. Then, the two quietly followed their father, whispering to each other.
Lin Xiangdong: “You used to come back during the winter and summer vacations. Where did you disappear to every day?”
Lin Luoluo’s eyes darted around. She poked the system in her mind: [What did the original host do?]
The system flipped through its data: [This world is built according to the male and female leads. The book didn’t mention it.]
Lin Luoluo was amused and annoyed: [Then how am I supposed to answer now? If I just say anything, won’t I go against the character again? Hmph!]
The system: [Host can improvise.]
Lin Luoluo twitched her lips, completely resigned.
Now it was pushing her out to take the heat.
She said, “Why should I tell you?”
Lin Xiangdong looked at her suspiciously. “You didn’t forget, did you?”
He remembered that Lin Luoluo’s eyes would wander when she was guilty.
“I just don’t want to tell you! It’s my secret!” Lin Luoluo huffed.
Lin Xiangdong felt helpless. “Your brother is trying to help you. You’re so ungrateful.”
“Help me with what?” Lin Luoluo looked at him suspiciously.
“Gu Beichen said he can’t feel your affection. Is this how you secretly like someone? You don’t even let the person know you like them?”
Lin Luoluo met Lin Xiangdong’s eyes, then guiltily looked away. Thinking of Zhang Qiu, she asked inquisitively, “Then what should I do?”
“At least let them know you exist first.”
“And after they know?”
“Uh…” Lin Xiangdong had never pursued anyone. Usually, others pursued him, and if he liked them, they would just get together. Lin Xiangdong glanced at his father walking ahead and whispered to Lin Luoluo, “Wait a minute, I’ll find a love expert to ask for you.”
Lin Luoluo’s eyes sparkled as she nodded at Lin Xiangdong.
Lin Xiangdong looked down at his phone and found Mu Yunchun. He asked: [How do you make a secret crush official?]
[Does the person know you like them?] Mu Yunchun seemed free and replied quickly.
Lin Xiangdong scratched his head. Did they know or not?
Gu Beichen said he didn’t know Lin Luoluo liked him, so he probably didn’t, right?
He replied: [No.]
[Then slowly get closer to her. Let her feel your charm. The push and pull during ambiguity is the most beautiful part.]
[How do I get closer?]
[Do what she likes. Give her what she wants. Remember not to rush to confess. A confession is a signal of success, not a surprise. You have to let the other person feel your presence, yet remain elusive, making it so she can’t leave you, can’t forget you, and falls into the net you’ve woven for her.]
Tsk.
Lin Xiangdong couldn’t help but click his tongue as he read the message from Mu Yunchun. Sure enough, he was a love expert. He couldn’t handle this kind of trickery.
[Is there a simpler way? That’s too complicated.] Lin Xiangdong was worried Lin Luoluo couldn’t keep up.
[You think pursuing someone is too complicated? Then just stay single.] Mu Yunchun replied.
[I haven’t seen you pursue anyone like this?] Lin Xiangdong couldn’t help but tease.
[I did, but I didn’t succeed.] Mu Yunchun replied and then stopped responding.
Lin Xiangdong rubbed his chin, feeling that this love expert wasn’t that reliable. He hadn’t even succeeded with this person. He wondered if this advice would even work.
Lin Luoluo urged from the side, “Brother, how was your question?”
Lin Xiangdong replied with some guilt, “I did ask.”
“Hurry up and send it to me!” Lin Luoluo’s eyes were glistening.
Lin Xiangdong forwarded the message with one click, then cautioned, “Brother isn’t sure if this will work. You need to use your own judgment and don’t have to follow all of it.”
“Mm-hmm.” Lin Luoluo looked thoughtfully at the love manual she had just received, then brought up Zhang Qiu’s chat window.
Must slowly get closer to her.
Her father started calling them, “Luoluo, check if you’ve left anything behind. We’re going home now.”
Lin Luoluo put away her phone and jogged over.
Zhang Qiu, who had just finished meeting a client with her professor, received a message: [I’m discharged from the hospital! Everything’s healthy. Want to play games tonight?]
