The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 21
Zhang Qiu originally hadn’t seen Lin Luoluo until she was standing at the bar, waiting for her coffee, and overheard a discussion between the servers nearby.
“Table number nine, handsome man and beautiful woman. I’m going to take the order over later, don’t you dare try to steal it from me.”
“You’ve got your eye on the handsome guy, haven’t you? You’re out of luck. I observed them up close when they ordered just now—they’re probably a couple. The woman didn’t open her mouth, and the man ordered what she was going to drink. They look very familiar with each other, and he even specifically asked for hot coffee.”
“Who has that kind of intention? A love for beauty is universal! I think you’re the one with that idea!”
Zhang Qiu was bored while waiting, so she looked towards table number nine.
By the floor-to-ceiling window with the best view in the coffee shop, two people were seated. The man had handsome features and thin, cool-looking lips, giving him a somewhat aloof appearance.
The woman had delicate and petite features, with a beautiful long wool-curl hairstyle that reached her waist. She was currently looking down anxiously, and her side profile made her seem inherently shorter than the man opposite her.
Zhang Qiu was surprised; how could it be Lin Luoluo and Gu Beichen?
Gu Beichen’s lips were slightly pursed: “Luoluo, I’m sorry, I can’t get engaged to you.”
Lin Luoluo nervously picked at her small hands under the table. Feeling guilty, she said, “I know, my brother told me.”
“Lin Xiangdong told you everything?” Gu Beichen felt a bit relieved, a smile appearing on his face: “That makes things easier. Let’s call off the engagement.”
He said with a serious expression, “You don’t like me, and I don’t like you. Luoluo, I feel about you like I feel about Xiaoxiao. I like Zhang Qiu; you know that.”
Hearing Zhang Qiu’s name, Lin Luoluo felt somewhat discouraged. She mumbled, “Didn’t you two break up?”
“She’s just throwing a temper tantrum. We won’t break up,” Gu Beichen said with certainty. “We’ve known each other for so long, I understand her very well.”
“She’s just mad at me. I just need to coax her, and it’ll be fine.”
Lin Luoluo felt annoyed after hearing Gu Beichen’s explanation.
After all this time, Gu Beichen still had no idea why Zhang Qiu had broken up with him. He even thought their situation was just a minor issue. The root cause was that Gu Beichen fundamentally didn’t trust Zhang Qiu; he completely sided with his own family from the start.
Actually, this wasn’t wrong. After all, who would be willing to think of their family that badly, especially since Gu Xiaoxiao was just a child?
Lin Luoluo looked up, saying earnestly to Gu Beichen, “You’re wrong.”
“She’s not someone who can be simply coaxed back.”
Gu Beichen was surprised, and then he laughed.
“Why do you act like you know her better than I do? How long have you even known her?” Gu Beichen’s words were dismissive, and Lin Luoluo’s cheeks puffed up, finding his words very unpleasant.
Gu Beichen had arrived first, and she had arrived later, but why couldn’t she know Zhang Qiu better than Gu Beichen? He liked Zhang Qiu, but he also treated her as his subordinate, unwilling to understand Zhang Qiu’s thoughts or what she truly wanted.
She knew all of these things!
“Then why didn’t Zhang Qiu go intern at Gu Group? Don’t you claim to understand her well?” Lin Luoluo raised her head and scoffed disdainfully.
“You!” Gu Beichen was stung by Lin Luoluo’s words.
Zhang Qiu never opposed any of his arrangements for her, but she never accepted them either.
Like this time, when they agreed for her to intern at Gu Group, Gu Beichen only found out she hadn’t come after he arrived at the company. Since she mentioned breaking up last time, she seemed to have silently vanished from his life. Gu Beichen didn’t know where she was or what she was doing. His pride prevented him from seeking her out for the time being, as if lowering himself would mean admitting he was in the wrong.
Lin Luoluo quickly lowered her head guiltily after speaking. She had promised Zhang Qiu not to tell Gu Beichen.
She had gotten carried away in her momentary triumph.
She was so overjoyed to finally find a point to counter Gu Beichen that she forgot.
Gu Beichen’s face was clouded with suppressed anger. “What do you know? Where is she?”
To outsiders, the two looked like they were arguing, with the girl lowering her head after being reprimanded by the man, who was still aggressively interrogating her, making the girl’s posture shrink in distress.
Zhang Qiu couldn’t just stand there and watch.
Gu Beichen was still the same—never extending any so-called gentlemanly conduct to other women. Mu Yunchun was so close to him, yet he hadn’t learned anything from her. No wonder he had been single for twenty years before meeting her. Now, Zhang Qiu even regretted why she had agreed to try dating Gu Beichen. She intensely disliked men who yelled at women.
The coffee for table number nine was ready. The server was about to take it over when a shadow suddenly stood by table number nine faster than she did. The server was momentarily stunned, only to see the shadow pull the beautiful girl up and say to the man, “Gu Beichen, why are you bullying someone again?”
Gu Beichen was startled to see Zhang Qiu. Before he could ask her why she was there, he was stung by the word “again” in Zhang Qiu’s sentence.
After not seeing her for days, the first thing Zhang Qiu did upon seeing him wasn’t to express missing him or explain why she had disappeared. He didn’t know where Zhang Qiu was or what she was doing, yet Lin Luoluo, who had only known Zhang Qiu for a few days, did. Had she ranked him behind Lin Luoluo?
Gu Beichen’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, forcing himself to suppress his anger.
He didn’t want to get angry at Zhang Qiu, but his words were sharp.
“Zhang Qiu, please use that silly brain of yours, okay? Why would I bully Lin Luoluo? My fiancée?” He said almost cruelly, trying to provoke Zhang Qiu.
With that, he grabbed Lin Luoluo’s hand, intending to pull her towards him and show Zhang Qiu.
Even without her, he was doing just fine!
Not only that, he now had a fiancée! He wasn’t unwanted!
Gu Beichen completely lost his composure upon seeing Zhang Qiu.
In front of others, he had always been an elegant, polite, yet indifferent young master, but in front of Zhang Qiu, his pettiness, cruelty, and arrogance were magnified.
Gu Beichen sneered at Zhang Qiu, “You should be the one letting go. Zhang Qiu, on what basis are you interfering between us, a pair of fiancés? Just based on your mouth? Are you, the ex-girlfriend, suddenly jumping out with a sense of justice? Zhang Qiu, are you perhaps unhappy about me being with my fiancée and trying to break us up?”
The moment these words were thrown out, Lin Luoluo was completely stunned. She looked at Zhang Qiu anxiously, wanting to explain, while mentally cursing Gu Beichen, that idiot! Weren’t they here today to talk about calling off the engagement?! Why was he telling Zhang Qiu all this now?!
She opened her mouth, but her left wrist was suddenly squeezed tightly.
Hiss, Gu Beichen, that dog!
Lin Luoluo’s small face crumpled in pain. Suddenly, her right wrist was guided, and Zhang Qiu not only didn’t let go but pulled Lin Luoluo towards herself. She looked solemnly at Gu Beichen and said, “I genuinely don’t know what your current relationship is, but Gu Beichen, we have broken up. You can be with whoever you want, but you can’t be harsh to Luoluo. Luoluo is a very good girl. You don’t deserve to treat her like this!”
Lin Luoluo whispered, “Gu Beichen, let go! You’re hurting me!”
Ha! Gu Beichen laughed out of anger.
They had teamed up.
Gu Beichen didn’t let go, gritting his teeth and clinging to his pathetic self-esteem.
“You should be the one letting go. Zhang Qiu, what right do you have to step between us, a pair of fiancés? Just because of your words? You, the ex-girlfriend, are now jumping out full of righteous indignation? Zhang Qiu, are you perhaps very unhappy about me being with my fiancée? Do you want to break us up?”
Gu Beichen became more confident as he spoke, unconsciously puffing out his chest and looking down at Zhang Qiu, acting as if it were truly the case.
As the three of them tugged at each other, the attention of the people in the coffee shop gradually focused on them.
Lin Luoluo was on the verge of tears, wanting to kick Gu Beichen, that big idiot dog, to death. What was he doing? This was something they could have resolved privately, but now it was escalating. Lin Luoluo, who originally wanted to be carefree, didn’t dare to act rashly, fearing that a gentle flap of her butterfly wings would change someone’s destiny, and the world’s consciousness would come after her.
Just as she was struggling with having people on both sides and trying to figure out how to break the deadlock, Zhang Qiu spoke up to retort, “Gu Beichen, you are truly narcissistic. I am unhappy about you being with Luoluo, but it’s not because I still miss you. It’s because I think a girl as good as Luoluo, how did she end up paired with you? Do you even deserve her?”
Gu Beichen’s face completely sank with anger. The two former lovers held onto Lin Luoluo’s hands, one on each side, and said in unison,
“Lin Luoluo, who are you going with?”
