The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 20
Standing at the doorway, Lin Luoluo immediately felt an urge to run away.
Her scalp tingled and her palms were sweating, but Boss Chen’s assistant had just opened the door and was still standing there, signaling her to enter. She had no choice but to walk in, step by step.
Chen Long chuckled, “Long time no see, Luoluo. The last time we met was abroad, right? It’s been, a year, hasn’t it?” he pondered.
Lin Luoluo forced herself to nod. Chen Long asked her to sit down.
There were two people opposite her. A man in a suit sat alone on a single sofa, leaving the only vacant spot on the double sofa where Gu Beichen was sitting.
Lin Luoluo gave a few awkward laughs: “Uncle Chen, since you have other guests, I’ll wait for you outside.”
“Don’t you all know each other? You’re about to get engaged, why are you still shy?” Chen Long laughed heartily. “We’ve finished discussing the business we needed to, and are just chatting now. What made you suddenly decide to look for me? Do you want to come back here for an internship? You don’t need to go to such trouble for an internship; just call me and I can arrange it. No need to make a tough trip.”
Lin Luoluo shook her head. Seeing that Gu Beichen showed no expression, and the door was closed with Chen Long’s assistant standing outside seemingly waiting for instructions, she decided to sit down. She also took out a detailed plan from her bag about the benefits of introducing the ‘A’ beverage into the campus.
She hadn’t just been playing around for the past two days; she used her free time to organize the proposal, thinking about how to convince Chen Long.
Seeing Lin Luoluo formally take out the materials, Chen Long raised an eyebrow, and Gu Beichen also looked over. Assistant Shi, meanwhile, curved his lips in interest. With all three of them looking at her, Lin Luoluo, surprisingly, didn’t panic anymore.
Lin Luoluo was the type of person who would be very nervous before something happened, but once it actually occurred, she would no longer panic.
She confidently handed the materials to Chen Long and said, “Uncle, I looked at our company’s financial report, and the market value has increased again this year. Congratulations!”
Chen Long smiled as he took it and quickly glanced over it: “You’re such a sweet talker, girl.”
Lin Luoluo said, “I really like this year’s new product, the ‘Salt and Pepper Soda Water’, but I haven’t seen it in supermarkets. I think maybe because it’s a new product, it’s not widely accepted yet. I’ve thought up some amateur ideas for the new product’s promotion, and you can listen if you like. Before, other than Coke and Sprite, I really hated drinking flavorless sparkling water. But simply because others advertised it as ‘healthy’, my family accepted it, and I had no problem drinking it either. So I think the company’s new product can also follow this route. I saw that it doesn’t contain added sugar, but uses a sugar substitute, so you can also target the weight loss demographic. Right now, the shared profile of these two demographics leans toward young and middle-aged adults.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Long immediately became interested.
It was true, just as Lin Luoluo said, the new product was not very popular and market acceptance wasn’t high. The PR department was already in a heated debate about how to promote the new product.
“I think besides the elderly, young people also need health. When a beverage has the characteristics of sparkling water, is healthy, and doesn’t cause weight gain, I believe its acceptance will be higher. Especially if this drink is also consumed by athletes, that would be free publicity.”
Lin Luoluo’s tone suddenly shifted.
“Our school’s tennis club has had excellent results over the years, achieving great success in the Asian Games and the National University Games. If you need promotion right now, I suggest you take a very small portion of your advertising budget and invest in our school’s tennis club. Firstly, it can project a positive image for your company, showing that you care deeply about sports, athletes, and, even more so, young people.”
“Secondly, it allows for word-of-mouth promotion by these excellent athletes. When athletes are drinking it, its health benefits naturally become self-evident.”
“Thirdly, we can achieve a win-win situation. If you think highly of our tennis club members and choose one of them as your new season’s spokesperson, your endorsement fee won’t need to be very high. Once our player achieves better results, their value will soar, further proving your sharp insight.”
“These are the personal achievements and résumés of our players. What do you think, Uncle?”
Chen Long hadn’t expected Lin Luoluo to come here to sell him a sponsorship.
Compared to her earlier naiveté, Lin Luoluo looked much more mature now.
He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart, wondering how these four major families trained their children. Both Gu Beichen and Lin Luoluo were so outstanding, and Lin Luoluo, who was an indulged daughter from a wealthy family, was equally poised and graceful in her actions.
He was actually quite interested in Lin Luoluo’s proposal, but he couldn’t say so in front of others. He deliberately paused for a moment and said, “Leave the materials here. I’ll take them to the marketing department for evaluation and then give you a reply.”
“Thank you, Uncle.”
Though Lin Luoluo was confident, she also felt a little anxious.
She understood Chen Long’s style; if he really wanted to refuse, he would have done so immediately, as he didn’t need to save face for her.
Chen Long smiled, “Now that business is finished, shall we all have dinner together?”
Shi Ce then spoke up, “I’m afraid not, I need to hurry back and report Chen Dong’s reply to my boss.”
Gu Beichen also stood up at this point, and politely said to Chen Long, “Uncle, we’ll head back now.”
“What about Luoluo?” Chen Long asked.
Lin Luoluo smiled, “My parents just returned, and they asked me to go home early tonight to spend time with them. My driver is waiting downstairs.”
“Oh? Mr. Lin is back too?” Chen Long remarked with feeling, “Mr. Lin’s speech at the economic forum in Europe this time was very powerful. Luoluo, please pass on my regards to your parents.”
“I will, Uncle.”
Shi Ce smiled, “Then let’s go down together.”
The three were escorted to the elevator by Chen Long’s assistant. Inside the elevator, it was just the three of them, and Lin Luoluo felt a little constrained, clutching her bag.
Gu Beichen remained silent. Shi Ce glanced at his young master and softly greeted Lin Luoluo.
“Luoluo may not have met me, I am Mr. Gu’s private secretary. Mr. Gu has mentioned you and said that you are wonderful and a perfect fit to be a Gu family member.”
“Don’t be nervous, Luoluo. What you just said was very interesting. Not just Chen Dong, even I was very interested after listening. Chen Dong will definitely agree.”
They would invest, if only out of respect for the Lin family.
Gu Beichen’s eyes darkened, and he couldn’t help but frown.
Shi Ce’s words were too intimate.
It sounded as if he had already accepted Lin Luoluo.
But his feeling for Lin Luoluo was only that of an older brother for a younger sister—there was no love.
He was in love with Zhang Qiu.
It was only that when they were young and played together, only Lin Xiangdong had a younger sister, and Lin Luoluo was so clean and well-behaved, standing there like a little pink ball of fluff.
So when his mother asked if he wanted to play with Luoluo and marry her, he agreed just to spite Lin Xiangdong. After all, that dog Lin Xiangdong would constantly boast about having a sister while he didn’t. He thought he would snatch Lin Luoluo to make Lin Xiangdong furious. He just didn’t expect a casual joke from back then to have persisted until now.
He wanted to make things clear with Lin Luoluo, so he spoke in a deep voice.
“Assistant Shi, you go back and report to my father first. I’ll see Luoluo off.”
Assistant Shi smiled and nodded, seeming not to want to disturb the engaged couple. When the elevator reached the ground floor, he drove away first.
“Lin Luoluo, let’s talk.”
Gu Beichen was serious, which made Lin Luoluo inevitably nervous.
What did Gu Beichen want to say? If he was going to call off the engagement, she certainly couldn’t agree.
However, the system wasn’t here, so doing something that didn’t fit her persona shouldn’t be a problem, right?
With her mind in a whirl, Lin Luoluo nodded in agreement.
There was a coffee shop right downstairs from the company. Lin Luoluo and Gu Beichen had just sat down when the door was pushed open again. Zhang Qiu, who was interning at a nearby law firm, came in to buy coffee for everyone at the firm.
