The Regent Keeps Flirting With Me - Chapter 52
No matter how Dai Sulan made up her mind, her voice was still trembling as she spoke. An Wanran, feeling a bit puzzled, tilted her head and observed Dai Sulan for a long time.
“Everyone considers leaving their hometown to be a disgrace, so why do you seem so happy to leave this place?” An Wanran tried to consider the possibility that Shen Lingyan might have been abusing her. However, Dai Sulan was well-dressed, her skin was delicate, and her complexion was rosy. Apart from her expression being slightly unnatural due to tension, everything else about her was fine.
There was absolutely no sign of abuse, so An Wanran started to ponder again.
Just then, Dai Sulan found the courage from somewhere, walked directly over, and pulled An Wanran up from the chair. Her eyes were red like a rabbit’s. With just one look, An Wanran was stunned. Before she could resist, she felt a warmth on her lips. Dai Sulan’s face was so close to hers.
Dai Sulan tightly closed her eyes, kissing very stiffly, and then pulled away quickly.
An Wanran finally reacted, vigorously wiping her lips with her sleeve, looking at Dai Sulan with disbelief.
“What are you doing!”
“I told you; you don’t understand anything. If… if only you were her.” Dai Sulan didn’t know why she suddenly acted this way. Was it because she saw Shen Lingyan’s slightly swollen red lips that day, causing her to lose control…
“What? Are you using this Princess as someone’s substitute!” An Wanran suddenly stopped pursuing the matter of Dai Sulan kissing her. She was actually concerned that Dai Sulan was thinking of someone else when she kissed her?
Dai Sulan knew that what she did was very inappropriate, but she stood firmly in place, looking at the furious An Wanran: “Offending the Princess is Sulan’s fault. My action just now was indeed not for the Princess.”
Dai Sulan faced the confrontation head-on. Her behavior immediately enraged An Wanran. What was this? Kissing her while thinking of someone else??
Even though An Wanran had no feelings for Dai Sulan, a competitive urge rose from her heart.
“Using this Princess as a substitute? Very good.” An Wanran narrowed her eyes, quickly stepped forward, and forcefully pinched Dai Sulan’s chin. The blood vessels in her eyes could not be hidden.
“I don’t care who the ‘her’ in your mouth is. Now that you’ve provoked this Princess… remember to pay the price.” The force gradually increased. Dai Sulan was in so much pain that tears streamed down her face. She didn’t know why she had been so bold as to kiss An Wanran.
The pain from her chin brought her back to her senses. Just as she was about to struggle free, she was ruthlessly thrown to the ground by An Wanran.
“There’s no need to say anything more. This Princess will personally enter the palace and have a word with Her Majesty the Empress.” An Wanran seemed to have made a decision and couldn’t wait. She clutched the sachet in her hand and walked out of the side room. The moment she stepped out, she looked back at Dai Sulan, who was lying on the floor.
“Not only Zhou Jin, but this Princess will take you away too. Now, it just depends on whether Her Majesty the Empress is willing to let people go.”
This was the last thing An Wanran left behind. Dai Sulan’s gaze was dull, and a bad premonition surfaced in her heart.
An Wanran’s carriage was luxurious and extravagant, as if she wanted to adorn it with every conceivable decoration. When the horses moved, one could hear the jingle-jangle sounds, making people wonder what kind of figure was seated inside the carriage.
However, An Wanran did not have the same vigor as when she arrived. She sat blankly inside the carriage, listening to the clinking sounds, her expression completely unchanged.
The carriage took several turns and finally arrived at the central area of the imperial city, stopping steadily at the main gate of the palace. Assisted by a servant, she entered the palace. Without waiting for anyone to announce her presence, she directly grabbed a eunuch and had herself led to the entrance of the Chaohui Palace.
Standing at the doorway, the guards started to stop her. An Wanran curled the corner of her lips. She didn’t say anything but handed her sachet to the palace maid who was about to go in and report, her eyes flashing with confidence.
The palace maid took the sachet in confusion, turned, and ran inside.
Inside the Chaohui Palace, Shen Lingyan was lying on the bed alone. Zhou Jin had gone to deal with the matters concerning Dai Junwu and the military and had not returned. Shen Lingyan could only listlessly flip through the memorials.
“Your Majesty, Princess An Wanran of the Jun’an Kingdom requests an audience.”
The palace maid announced from outside the hall. Upon hearing this, Shen Lingyan instantly brightened up. What was An Wanran here for again?
Before Shen Lingyan could refuse, the palace maid quickly added: “Princess Wanran also handed a sachet to this servant.”
Sachet… A hint of understanding flashed in Shen Lingyan’s eyes. She immediately got off the bed, wearing only an inner garment, and ran to push open the door, personally taking the sachet from the palace maid’s hand.
The familiar scent wafted from the sachet. The cough Shen Lingyan had been suppressing felt as if it had been soothed by an invisible hand, and her breathing instantly became much steadier.
“Let her in.” Shen Lingyan’s voice was quite hoarse from being tormented by illness. The palace maid was slightly stunned, then reacted, nodded in agreement, and left.
An Wanran saw the palace maid walk out from inside and, without waiting for her to say anything, lifted her steps and walked in. The main door of the Chaohui Palace was wide open. Shen Lingyan did not return to the bed but stood by the door, holding the sachet and waiting.
