The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 61.1
“Our marriage isn’t a mistake, Zhizhi.”
Yu Kunian thought Song Wenzhi had returned to Lihua University last night, but when she arrived at Song Wenzhi’s office, she learned the Omega had taken a leave of absence. Song Wenzhi was nowhere to be found in the staff dormitory either.
She sent messages to Song Wenzhi, but the Omega didn’t reply to a single one. It was likely as Song Wenzhi had said: unless it concerned the divorce, she would no longer pay Yu Kunian any mind.
Yu Kunian searched the entire campus and questioned other teachers, but no one knew where Song Wenzhi had gone. The leave of absence was so sudden and temporary that even Director Qin was caught off guard. Fortunately, during the time Song Wenzhi had originally been on her honeymoon, several professors in the faculty had been assigned her workload, so the department’s affairs didn’t become too difficult to manage.
At this moment, as Song Wenzhi’s legal Alpha, Yu Kunian could not think of a single place where the Omega might have gone.
Director Qin found Yu Kunian. She had already sensed that something was wrong; judging by Song Wenzhi’s state lately, it was possible their married life was not entirely harmonious. Although it wasn’t her place to intervene directly in their private affairs, Director Qin still wanted to have a serious talk with Yu Kunian.
At Lihua University, Director Qin knew Yu Kunian better than most. She also knew how much Song Wenzhi cared for and admired Yu Kunian. Although the Omega rarely spoke of it, she had always kept her eyes on Yu Kunian. Perhaps due to a preconceived bias, Director Qin felt that whatever Song Wenzhi did—even if it was giving up—she must have an absolutely sufficient reason for it.
Song Wenzhi was indeed soft-hearted, but when it came to a decision she had made for herself, the Omega always followed through. She could love deeply, but she could also pull away rationally, swiftly, and decisively. Even if her feelings hadn’t been fully retracted, Song Wenzhi would force herself to be resolute.
Director Qin guessed that Yu Kunian had done something wrong in some aspect that led to Song Wenzhi’s disappointment; otherwise, this situation would not have occurred.
They had gone from meeting to marriage very quickly, which made it easy for discord to exist.
Yu Kunian understood what Director Qin meant. She didn’t argue, but she didn’t entirely agree either. She simply said nothing. Until she walked out of the gates of Lihua University and looked up at the scorching sun, she felt a sudden chill.
Director Qin’s accusations seemed to echo in her ears. There wasn’t a hint of a smile on Yu Kunian’s face. She stood in place for a long time, her gaze slowly falling on the opposite side of the road, remaining silent in deep thought.
Clearly, it was Song Wenzhi who had let go first.
Yet everyone said it was her fault.
Yu Kunian didn’t know if the reason Song Wenzhi spoke during yesterday’s argument was truly a legitimate mistake. She didn’t feel the fault lay with her; they could still coordinate with each other, so why be so heartless?
The Alpha had never been this confused. She felt her thoughts scattering in all directions, unable to find the core issue. Facing Song Wenzhi’s rush for a divorce, she only wanted to buy a little more time.
Once the matters with Zhaoming Biotech were settled, and once she was no longer overwhelmed by various problems, she would go and slowly discuss the matter of “liking” with Song Wenzhi. She didn’t have three heads and six arms; she couldn’t handle multiple severe headaches at once, as it would make it impossible to maintain her sanity.
Coupled with the approach of her rut, her emotions were even harder to stabilize.
For a moment, she didn’t know where to go. Aside from Lihua University, she couldn’t guess where Song Wenzhi would be. Yu Kunian watched the traffic lights cycle several times while she remained stationary. After an unknown amount of time, Yu Kunian decided to drive away first, but just as she sat in the driver’s seat, Jiang Qiu called.
Yu Kunian answered: “What is it?”
“Kunian, where are you now?” Jiang Qiu’s tone was urgent.
Yu Kunian started the car. She put on her headset and drove out. “Lihua University, why?”
“Don’t go home for now,” Jiang Qiu said. “Also, I’m coming to pick you up.”
Yu Kunian’s brow furrowed. “What happened?”
“It’s hard to explain quickly. Someone wrote a malicious, fabricated article about you; it was published this morning. Anyway, your house is probably surrounded by reporters right now. I’ll come get you. Find a place with fewer people and wait for me.”
Yu Kunian was about to find a place to park and look at the so-called fabricated news report, but she was suddenly cut off by another car. Caught off guard, her car crashed into the rear of the other vehicle.
Both cars came to a stop. Jiang Qiu asked her what happened. Yu Kunian pinched the bridge of her nose and said in a low, heavy sigh, “A rear-end collision.”
The call wasn’t disconnected. Yu Kunian got out of the car. The driver in front walked toward her with an unpleasant expression. Before Yu Kunian could speak, the person began scolding her and clamoring for compensation. Yu Kunian took a look; she was certain that the person had maliciously cut her off just now, so it shouldn’t be her responsibility.
Yu Kunian informed the other party that this situation was not her fault, but she received a sarcastic retort: “Isn’t this President Yu? So knowledgeable about the law—no wonder you’re so good at finding loopholes and using dirty tactics to bring down competing companies.”
Hearing this, Yu Kunian only felt confused, unable to understand what the person was talking about.
She had never done anything illegal or exploited loopholes.
Yu Kunian didn’t want to waste too much time and hadn’t planned on involving the police. But through the conversation, she could clearly feel the other person was looking for trouble. Not only was he unreasonable, but he also kept saying nonsensical, provocative things, which caused her anger to rise and her tone to sharpen.
In the end, Yu Kunian called the police anyway. By the time Jiang Qiu and Yu Sheng arrived, the matter was nearly handled.
Much time had been wasted, and Yu Kunian was frustrated. She didn’t even have the energy to wonder why Jiang Qiu was with Yu Sheng. She got into Jiang Qiu’s car, and Yu Sheng sat in the back seat, seemingly hesitating to speak.
The Alpha’s car needed repairs. Not a single good thing had happened all day; her mood was abysmal, especially after reading the fabricated news article. She didn’t know where the information had come from, but the article took everything out of context—from her previous report that led a betrothed company to face inspection to the current crisis at Zhaoming Biotech—and blurred the facts.
It claimed Yu Kunian used her connections with the committee to maliciously report others, that the crisis at Zhaoming Biotech was entirely caused by Yu Kunian’s poor judgment, and even that Yu Kunian was involved in an ambiguous relationship with the daughter of the Li Group while being married… In short, it painted Yu Kunian as an extremely vile and immoral Alpha.
And the person who had cut her off just now was a partner of one of the companies Yu Kunian had reported. Jiang Qiu guessed that this incident likely started because the information about Yu Kunian’s report had been leaked.
Someone wanted to ruin Yu Kunian.
“Kunian, you shouldn’t go home for the next few days. Tell Professor Song too,” Jiang Qiu said, glancing at Yu Kunian.
Yu Kunian had previously bought a detached villa in Lihua City. It seemed the Alpha would have to stay there for the time being.
Yu Kunian turned her head to look out the window, her voice muffled: “She moved out.”
Jiang Qiu and Yu Sheng were both stunned. It was somewhat expected, yet still a surprise.
“Why move out so suddenly? Kunian, what happened?” Jiang Qiu waited a moment before asking cautiously.
Yu Kunian closed her eyes and remained silent for a long time, her brows tightly knit. When she opened them again, there was an unmistakable gloom in her eyes. “She wants a divorce.”
As soon as those words were spoken, there was no other sound in the car. It was filled with an endless silence, and no one dared to speak again.
Yu Sheng secretly looked at Jiang Qiu from the back, but they happened to make eye contact. She subconsciously retracted her gaze, yet she still saw Jiang Qiu’s low expression. She bit her lip and gripped the hem of her clothes tightly.
The car stopped at the villa. Yu Kunian walked in first. Jiang Qiu and Yu Sheng walked side-by-side behind her. The Omega said helplessly, “What should we do?”
She hadn’t expected things to reach this point.
Jiang Qiu gave a light sigh. “Let’s come clean. It’s already become this serious.” She had guessed that Song Wenzhi would argue with Yu Kunian, but she never imagined she would mention divorce.
Yu Sheng lowered her eyes and said “I’m sorry” once more. Jiang Qiu turned to look at her, a few complex emotions flashing through her eyes. She wanted to place her hand on the Omega’s back, but in the end, her hand stopped in mid-air without moving.
Finally, Jiang Qiu only said: “Go in and tell her.”
Yu Kunian was in a bad mood. She was resting with her eyes closed. Lately, bad things seemed to be coming one after another; the Alpha hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time. For a moment, she didn’t want to deal with anything. Yu Sheng walked closer and stood by Yu Kunian’s side. Looking at Yu Kunian’s exhausted face, she felt guilty and afraid, her mouth hesitating several times before she could speak.
It was Jiang Qiu who gave Yu Sheng a gentle nudge before Yu Sheng finally gathered the courage to speak and confess what happened that day.
She told Yu Kunian that Song Wenzhi had overheard what the Alpha said, and described Song Wenzhi’s expression and reaction at the time. By the time Yu Sheng chased after her, Song Wenzhi was already nowhere to be found. She realized she had caused trouble and later instinctively fled the scene.
She hadn’t meant for it to be like that.
After Yu Kunian finished listening, she didn’t scold her; she didn’t say anything at all.
The Alpha finally knew what Song Wenzhi meant by “deception” at the beginning of yesterday’s argument. The Omega had asked if she had lied to her, and she said no—that was a second deception. Yu Kunian tried to recall what she had said; she had said her pursuit was for an ulterior motive. Song Wenzhi had heard all of her insincerity.
Those were words spoken in anger, but… they were also the truth.
She indeed had impure motives; she had approached Song Wenzhi with a plan from the start. She only wanted to deal with the marriage alliance arranged by Yu Dai. Now she had gotten what she wanted, but she never expected the truth to come to light. Song Wenzhi knew. So, was that why Song Wenzhi brought up the divorce?
Perhaps she could explain to Song Wenzhi, clarify the whole reason. She might be able to persuade Song Wenzhi not to divorce.
Thinking of this, Yu Kunian stood up again, preparing to leave.
Jiang Qiu grabbed her. “Kunian, what are you doing?”
“I’m going to find Zhizhi and explain to her.” This was the only thought Yu Kunian had left.
Jiang Qiu said, “Where are you going to look? Besides, you should stay indoors as much as possible right now.”
“I have to find her,” Yu Kunian said stubbornly.
Jiang Qiu quickly pulled her back. “Lihua City is so big, do you know where to look? Are you going to go into every street and every shop? Kunian, calm down first. At least think of a place she might go before looking, otherwise, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”
Moreover, Yu Kunian’s current situation was also terrible; she also needed to stay out of the spotlight for a while.
