The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 103.2
“It’s okay. she needs someone to look after her now.” Song Wenzhi expressed her understanding, though the sudden long-distance relationship caused a surge of nameless anxiety.
Yu Kunian said, “We’ll just stay on video calls all the time. I’ll stay with you while you work and go to sleep at the same time as you.”
“We have a time difference, Yu Kunian.” Song Wenzhi shook her head. “Just reply to messages promptly during the day.”
Yu Kunian’s breath hitched. “It just feels so sudden. When I left yesterday, I didn’t think of it as a parting. I didn’t expect us to be so far apart all of a sudden.”
Across the screen, Yu Kunian desperately wanted to touch the Omega’s cheek.
“When both our times are convenient, we’ll video call.” Song Wenzhi leaned closer to the screen as if they were still face-to-face.
Yu Kunian looked at Song Wenzhi, a trace of gloom passing through her eyes. Clearly, her gland had returned to normal, yet at this moment, in this familiar yet strange home, she craved the Omega’s pheromonal comfort abnormally. Every breath of air in this place made her feel lonely.
“Zhizhi, I miss you.” A faint, imperceptible mist rose in Yu Kunian’s eyes. Though she was still smiling, her expression had crumbled a bit, and her voice carried several tremors.
The Alpha felt a sense of helplessness. Overwhelming longing wrapped around her like vines. Even though less than a day had passed, she could no longer adapt.
Sitting on this sofa, she feared losing Song Wenzhi once again.
Then came the worry, panic, and helplessness.
Song Wenzhi seemed caught off guard by her words and froze for an instant. Then, her gaze remained fixed on her as she said, “I miss you very much too, Yu Kunian.”
Yu Kunian nodded. “Zhizhi, I love you.” Perhaps by saying this, the Alpha could steady her heart and suppress that inexplicable panic.
The Alpha’s smile became a bit stiff, though she was unaware of it. Song Wenzhi seemed to notice but didn’t point it out. “Yu Kunian, did you rest well today? It must be very late in Lihua City.”
“I’ll rest in a bit. I’m going back to the hospital later,” Yu Kunian said.
“Get a good night’s sleep. Read the messages I sent today after you wake up.” Song Wenzhi’s gaze softened. “Goodnight, Yu Kunian.”
After hanging up, Yu Kunian sat in silence for a long while before taking her things and leaving the house. When she returned to the hospital, Yu Sheng was already asleep. After taking over for Yu Sheng’s assistant, the Alpha felt no drowsiness; her jet lag hadn’t been adjusted yet.
Flipping through recent photos of her and Song Wenzhi, Yu Kunian couldn’t help but smile. In the dim hospital room, she leaned against the window. Moonlight spilled over her shoulders. The Alpha missed Song Wenzhi very, very much.
Yu Kunian didn’t sleep soundly last night. She woke up completely after only a short rest and couldn’t return to dreamland until dawn. She decided to wash up and go out to buy breakfast.
On the way, she passed a flower shop. Many potted plants were displayed at the entrance, making Yu Kunian stop in her tracks.
Then, Yu Kunian bought a potted plant and returned to the hospital room.
Yu Sheng was already awake. While she slowly ate breakfast with her left hand, she watched Yu Kunian doting on the plant. She couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Sister, is that for me?”
Yu Kunian didn’t even look back. “I bought it for myself. When your assistant replaces me, I’ll take it home. If you want one, buy it yourself.”
Yu Sheng glanced at the plant a few more times and muttered under her breath, “Stingy.”
Yu Kunian pretended not to hear. Regardless, this plant was hers. Although Yu Sheng was pitiful for being injured, she wasn’t so pitiful that she needed to snatch a plant from her.
Placing the plant temporarily on the windowsill, Yu Kunian looked at the messages Song Wenzhi had sent. The last one said she was entering the lab and would be “isolated” from her phone for a few hours. So far, the Alpha’s replies hadn’t received a new response from the Omega.
Yu Kunian took meticulous care of Yu Sheng. Company matters waited until the assistant arrived at noon to report to Yu Sheng. Although Yu Kunian didn’t intend to interfere, she still offered a few suggestions on Yu Sheng’s behalf.
After leaving the hospital room with the plant, several new messages arrived on her phone. It was now late at night in New York, and Song Wenzhi seemed to have just finished work. This was the first time such a thing had happened. The Alpha couldn’t help but stop and frown, placing a call.
Song Wenzhi answered. Before she could speak, she heard Yu Kunian say, “Zhizhi, why did you work so late? What work couldn’t be left for tomorrow… Is Xia Weichi driving you back?”
Song Wenzhi ignored the question and asked instead, “Yu Kunian, did you miss me today too?”
Yu Kunian was stunned for a moment before saying, “Very much. I started missing you the moment I opened my eyes.”
“Yu Kunian,” Song Wenzhi laughed softly, “the weather is quite nice today.”
Hearing this, Yu Kunian instinctively looked up at the azure sky. Lihua City was neither cold nor hot today; the temperature was pleasant and the sunlight was gentle. It was an ordinary yet wonderful day. But the Alpha quickly reacted. “Isn’t it already dark in New York? Are the stars in the night sky very bright, or is the moon very beautiful?”
“Neither,” Song Wenzhi said.
This made Yu Kunian’s lips turn upward. “Then what is it?”
A moment later, the Omega’s clear voice seemed to ring right in her ear, carrying a hint of a smile: “It’s Lihua City.”
As she finished speaking, the Alpha froze on the spot.
On the phone, Song Wenzhi asked again, “Yu Kunian, do you want to turn around and look?”
The Alpha turned around. A gentle breeze brushed through her hair. In her sight, Song Wenzhi was not far away, walking toward her step by step. Yu Kunian’s breathing turned tremulous; she even forgot to move. “Zhizhi, you…”
“I missed you too, Yu Kunian.” As if guessing the question Yu Kunian wanted to ask, Song Wenzhi answered before she could finish.
The Omega stopped in front of Yu Kunian, looking a bit travel-worn, her eyes unable to hide her fatigue. The Alpha’s eyes grew red. For a moment, she couldn’t speak, just staring at Song Wenzhi as if fireworks were exploding in her heart.
Surprise and joy washed away all her other emotions. Today, just as Song Wenzhi had said, the weather was truly beautiful.
Yu Kunian lowered her head and pressed a kiss to Song Wenzhi’s forehead.
Song Wenzhi saw the plant in her hand. “Why did you buy this?”
“I wanted to try growing it.” Yu Kunian hugged her. “I originally planned to tell you once I succeeded.”
Song Wenzhi stroked her back. “Are you going to grow it at home?”
Hearing the word “home” from Song Wenzhi’s mouth made Yu Kunian freeze for an instant, but she quickly recovered and nodded. “Yes.” After a moment of hesitation, she asked again, “Or, where does Zhizhi want to grow it?”
Song Wenzhi released her, her expression normal. “Besides home, there’s no other suitable place.”
“Then shall we go home now?” Yu Kunian placed her fingertips on the Omega’s eyelid. “You look very tired.”
Song Wenzhi hummed in response. “Sleeping on the plane wasn’t very comfortable.”
Yu Kunian drove Song Wenzhi home. She was still nervous before entering the door, but after seeing that Song Wenzhi had no other emotions, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Only after they entered together did the Omega keenly notice a red wine stain on the living room carpet. “When did this get there?”
Yu Kunian’s gaze flickered, her voice very small: “The day of the argument.”
It was unclear if Song Wenzhi heard her, but she didn’t pursue the matter. The Omega sat on the sofa and picked up the plant to observe it, noticing from the corner of her eye that Yu Kunian was still standing nearby. She turned to look; the Alpha’s expression was a bit off, just like in the video call yesterday.
The Omega could more or less guess the reason, which was why she tried her best to show her familiarity with this home, as if they had just returned home from work as usual. But Yu Kunian clearly didn’t think that way.
Song Wenzhi stood back up. After meeting Yu Kunian’s gaze, she asked, “Yu Kunian, tell me, what are you worried about?”
With her thoughts seen through, Yu Kunian’s fingertips stilled. She remained silent for a long time.
“Zhizhi, will you hate this place?” When she spoke, Yu Kunian couldn’t help but lower her eyes, trying to look calm, but it was ultimately in vain.
Song Wenzhi seemed to let out a soft sigh. She stepped forward and took the Alpha’s hand. “Yu Kunian, this is our home.”
“I’ll think of our previous arguments, and you will too. There are bad memories here.” Just like that carpet, it would always have a blemish.
“We can replace it with new, good ones, can’t we?” Song Wenzhi understood the point of Yu Kunian’s struggle. “When I first left Lihua City, I did feel that staying would make me feel sad, but we have already resolved those issues.”
Yu Kunian pulled her into a hug. “Zhizhi, we could actually change to a different place.”
“Starting over refers to me and you. Yu Kunian, whether it’s in New York or Lihua City, as long as it’s with you, it’s fine.” Song Wenzhi explained patiently. “I still like it here.”
Hearing what Song Wenzhi said, the stone in Yu Kunian’s heart finally hit the ground. The worry she had felt since returning to Lihua City gradually vanished. Yu Kunian admitted she had overthought things, but she still couldn’t help but feel self-doubt because she didn’t want to bring back the pain of repetitive memories to Song Wenzhi.
The embrace became tighter. The Alpha’s lips brushed against the Omega’s shoulder, the fear in her heart gone. Yu Kunian said, “I understand, Zhizhi. I’m going to buy even more plants, just like before.”
Song Wenzhi laughed. After releasing Yu Kunian, her gaze fell on the plant on the coffee table. When she chose to return to Lihua City, she knew the same things would never happen between them again.
Yu Kunian would choose to rush to New York for her, and she could do the same—return to this place they were both very familiar with. Looking at Yu Kunian’s features now, she felt that being impulsive wasn’t so bad.
Because she had taken the earliest flight back just to say a sentence she had wanted to say yesterday:
“Yu Kunian, let’s remarry.”
