The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 103.1
“Yu Kunian, Let’s Remarry.”
Despite her reluctance to deal with the matter of Yu Dai transferring shares to her, Yu Sheng had called several times, and Yang Yu had also been entrusted to persuade her. They both promised that Yu Dai and Yang Jin would no longer interfere in any of her affairs, urging her to return with peace of mind.
However, those were never the things Yu Kunian was truly worried about.
Ultimately, the Alpha listened to Song Wenzhi’s advice. Once her pheromone disorder had completely stabilized, she booked a flight back to Lihua City.
Signing the share transfer agreement was not a time-consuming task; she could have even boarded a return flight to New York that same day. But an unexpected turn of events occurred.
While driving away from the company, Yu Sheng was involved in an accident.
Due to brake failure, the car inevitably crashed into a lamp post on a curve. Despite being in immense pain, Yu Sheng managed to call emergency services before losing consciousness. Yu Kunian, who had finished signing the papers and was preparing to leave that evening, received a call from the hospital instead.
Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening, but her right hand was fractured and would require time to heal.
Yu Sheng lay on the hospital bed, her face pale. She hadn’t yet fully regained consciousness, and the scratches on her cheeks left traces of blood. Yu Kunian canceled her flight. Checking the time, she saw it was only past three in the morning in New York, so she didn’t send a message yet.
She had initially thought it was just a vehicular accident, but when Yu Sheng’s assistant arrived, Yu Kunian realized the brake failure had been tampered with.
Some time ago, Zhaoming Biotech had acquired the core assets of a company that was failing. Yu Sheng had been the lead person for that acquisition. The assistant believed the other party felt Yu Sheng’s move—or perhaps such an action from an Omega—was kicking them while they were down. Harboring resentment, they had targeted her.
Yu Kunian sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Call the police.”
After the assistant left, Yu Sheng slowly woke up. Yu Kunian called for a doctor to perform a basic check-up.
Once confirmed that Yu Sheng had no other issues, Yu Kunian breathed a sigh of relief. “Luckily, you’re tough.”
Yu Sheng couldn’t manage a smile. Her lips twitched slightly, her gaze somewhat vacant. After a long silence, she said, “Sister, don’t tell Mother or Mom.”
Yu Kunian sat down. “I haven’t.”
“Sister, am I delaying your return to New York?” Yu Sheng opened her mouth, her eyelashes trembling, her breathing a bit ragged. “I’ll just have my assistant look after me. You should—”
“Yu Sheng.”
Yu Kunian’s voice was calm, making it hard to discern her mood, but Yu Sheng keenly felt the slight reprimand in the Alpha’s tone.
“You are my sister. Do you think I’m that heartless?” Yu Kunian frowned. “You just had a car accident, and instead of taking care of you, I should just find an assistant?”
Yu Sheng lowered her eyes. “No. Sister, you’re great, but…”
Yu Kunian sighed. “But what?”
“You don’t want to come back precisely because this place brings you pain.” Yu Sheng turned her head away. “Lihua City doesn’t hold beautiful memories, so you’d rather stay in New York than come home.”
Yu Kunian’s breath hitched. She said nothing.
The atmosphere turned stiff. Yu Sheng realized too late that she shouldn’t have said that. She pursed her lips and spoke again after a long silence: “I’m sorry, Sister.”
Yu Kunian replied, “Sorry for what? There’s no need to be sorry.” She thought Yu Sheng was apologizing for the comment she just made.
But Yu Sheng looked up. “At the Li Group banquet that day, I brought Sister Wenzhi there with a different motive.”
Having overheard the argument between Yu Kunian and Yu Dai at home, the Omega realized Song Wenzhi’s importance to Yu Kunian. She wanted to use that to make Yu Kunian resign from her position as CEO.
She had been eyeing Zhaoming Biotech for a long time.
She just didn’t expect things to turn out the way they did.
Yu Kunian didn’t say whether she accepted the apology or not. The Alpha’s thoughts drifted for a moment, appearing dazed.
After a moment of deliberation, Yu Sheng spoke again: “Sister, I’ve always wanted to ask you something.”
Yu Kunian snapped back to reality, her eyes meeting Yu Sheng’s gaze.
“Did you know I wanted the company?”
“I knew.”
“How?”
At the question, Yu Kunian stood up and looked away. “Actually, you didn’t have that idea at the beginning, did you?”
If she hadn’t intentionally led her there, Yu Sheng wouldn’t have felt she could take over Zhaoming Biotech.
Before the divorce happened, almost everyone had followed her plan. Yu Kunian was a businesswoman and understood her own sister well. From the moment Yu Sheng started a company in another city to emulate her, Yu Kunian had her plans.
“Sister, I…”
“Zhaoming Biotech is doing well in your hands; it’s no different from when I was there.” Yu Kunian interrupted her. There was no need to make some things too clear. Even if both parties understood, it was best to forget it all.
Yu Sheng added, “The partnership with No. 4 Middle School… you negotiated that.”
It wasn’t a question, but an assertion.
Yet, Yu Kunian still refuted her: “It has nothing to do with me. You don’t need to negate your own abilities, Yu Sheng. The company is doing great, and you are very capable. Just believe in yourself and do what you need to do. As for the rest, you don’t need to be so curious.”
In the long silence that followed, Yu Sheng finally nodded.
Yu Kunian took care of Yu Sheng until past ten at night. When a message from Song Wenzhi arrived, Yu Kunian had just returned home to pick up some things. This was the home where her fingertips would unconsciously tremble just by standing at the door. The memories of the past were as clear as if they had happened yesterday. The Alpha opened the door, walked through the foyer, and looked at the familiar surroundings.
The carpet hadn’t even been changed. Every scene was deeply etched in her mind despite months having passed.
She and Song Wenzhi had shared sweetness here, and they had argued here.
Bit by bit, nothing could be easily forgotten. Yu Kunian’s gaze swept over every inch, her emotions hard to define.
The withered plants on the balcony had been cleared away. For a moment, Yu Kunian couldn’t adapt to the emptiness there and stood dazed for a long time.
The heavy dullness in her heart had been spreading since she entered the door, eventually enveloping her entirely. Her poor mood kept her from looking at the gift box she had hidden deep in the cabinet.
Yu Sheng was right.
She had developed a sense of pain and resistance toward Lihua City. Because bad things had happened in this city, and the root of the problem lay here, the Alpha assumed Song Wenzhi probably wouldn’t want to come back either.
Even though she had never asked Song Wenzhi.
Escaping like this and starting everything anew in New York seemed like the most appropriate solution to Yu Kunian.
But she had also lived in Lihua City for over twenty years.
The Alpha’s silhouette was reflected in the floor-to-ceiling window. Yu Kunian placed her fingertips against the glass, looking at the scenery outside. She had bought this place because this window offered a panoramic view of Lihua City. The neon lights at night were captivating, making her forget everything else.
A moment later, the sound of a notification pulled Yu Kunian back to reality.
Song Wenzhi asked if she had finished handling everything.
Yu Kunian sat back on the sofa and told the Omega that an accident had occurred on her end, and she might not be able to return for the time being.
Not long after the message was sent, Song Wenzhi placed a video call. Yu Kunian blinked, then answered. On the screen, Song Wenzhi looked concerned. She scanned the Alpha and asked, “Yu Kunian, are you hurt? What accident? Are you okay?”
Yu Kunian chuckled softly. “I’m fine, Zhizhi. Don’t worry. The accident happened to Xiao Sheng. She’s not doing very well; she’s in the hospital.”
As she spoke, Jiang Qiu’s figure entered the frame. “What happened to Yu Sheng?”
Yu Kunian was puzzled. “Why are you with Zhizhi?”
Jiang Qiu put her hands on her hips. “You were the one who told me to look after Teacher Song. You’re asking me?”
Yu Kunian let out an “Oh.” She had forgotten. In truth, it wasn’t that she wanted Jiang Qiu to take care of Song Wenzhi, but she was worried that if she wasn’t around, Jiang Qiu would go looking for Cheng Lu again, so she had simply assigned her a task.
“What do you mean ‘oh’? Hurry up and tell me, what happened to Yu Sheng?” Jiang Qiu’s expression also turned worried; she still cared deeply about Yu Sheng.
Yu Kunian said briefly, “A car accident. Her right hand is fractured.”
“Is she okay?”
“She’s fine. I’m taking care of her.”
Hearing this, Jiang Qiu nodded and backed out of the frame. Yu Kunian looked at Song Wenzhi’s features again, the unease in her heart easing slightly. She said, “I might have to wait until Xiao Sheng is in a more stable condition before I can come back.”
