The Protagonist 'Gong' Became my Wife - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: So Well-Behaved
Kissing.
In the eighteen years of Gu Zhuo’s life, he had never entertained such a thought toward anyone. But now, he wanted to kiss Jiang Yanning.
Unfortunately, the man in front of him, having finished his tough talk, picked up his suit jacket and left without a hint of mercy.
Gu Zhuo sat in his seat for a moment to recover, letting 77 forge a chat history between “Gu Zhuo” and “Ding You.” Afterward, he stepped out and quietly approached Jiang Yanning, who was leaning against his car nearby, presumably waiting for Assistant Zhou.
Gu Zhuo silently covered Jiang Yanning’s eyes from behind. A split second before the man could resist, Gu Zhuo released his pheromones.
Jiang Yanning’s body instantly went limp. He allowed Gu Zhuo to mischievously remove his necktie and use it to blindfold him.
“Xiao Zhuo? Why are you here? What are you doing?”
Gu Zhuo reverted to his usual voice. His fingers slid slowly down Jiang Yanning’s Adam’s apple, coming to rest on his warm chest.
“Ding You told me, of course. If he hadn’t told me Brother was here, I wouldn’t have known where to find you.”
“As for not letting you look at me? This is your punishment.”
Jiang Yanning was speechless. He was indeed in the wrong for avoiding Gu Zhuo. But the matter with Ding You was clearly more important. He gripped Gu Zhuo’s wrist, his tone carrying a hint of interrogation.
“Are you and Ding You very close? You just lent him the car I gave you?”
Gu Zhuo smiled silently and offered a sincere apology. “I’m sorry, Brother. I was wrong. From now on, only you and I can touch that car, okay?”
The drunken Jiang Yanning was unusually easy to handle; he actually allowed himself to be coaxed into a smile. Gu Zhuo instinctively reached for the back of Jiang Yanning’s neck, applying slight pressure to pull him closer. He didn’t need to see to know those eyes behind the tie were full of confusion, yet the man offered no resistance.
A brief heat pressed against his lips a touch that vanished as soon as it landed.
Behind the blindfold, Jiang Yanning’s eyes snapped wide. Adam’s apple bobbed heavily, but he couldn’t squeeze out a single word. He only heard Gu Zhuo’s smiling, seductive whisper:
“Brother is so well-behaved. Will you come home with me?”
Once they were in the back seat of the car, Gu Zhuo dropped his disguise. While waiting for Assistant Zhou, he toyed with Jiang Yanning’s palm, occasionally squeezing the muscles of his arm.
Jiang Yanning, having regained some clarity, didn’t dare ask why Gu Zhuo had kissed him. He chose to close his eyes and pretend to sleep, trying his best to ignore the sensations on his hand. He never once removed the necktie.
Assistant Zhou arrived quickly. He expertly raised the privacy partition, immediately sliding into his role as a “deaf and blind” driver.
As the car vanished around the corner, He Wenyun who happened to be dining at the restaurant next door stepped out of the shadows. The carton of milk in his hand, intended to help Jiang Yanning sober up, had been crushed out of shape. The ruthlessness in his eyes was even more startling.
He muttered that same sentence again: “Since they can all do it, why can’t I?”
…
After that night, Gu Zhuo and Jiang Yanning returned to their usual routine. Work by day, school by day, and a cozy dinner together every evening. Life was so comfortable that Gu Zhuo almost forgot he had a mission.
【 Host! Wake up! The progress between Gu Xiao and Qi Chi is basically zero. How is the plot supposed to move forward? 】
In the original script, after Qi Chi realizes he’s in love with Gu Xiao, his possessiveness becomes extreme. Upon discovering Gu Xiao’s messy relationships, he becomes twisted—planning to get Gu Xiao drunk, take photos, and use them to blackmail him into dating.
Thinking about this gave Gu Zhuo a headache. He leaned his head back, slumped on the sofa. 【 77, let’s make a deal. Let’s skip this part. This isn’t something a human being would do. 】
77 scrolled through several pages on the light screen.
【 Cannon Fodder Gong #1, Wen Xiyu: Romantic progress is good, but plot progress is basically non-existent. 】 (The “Stand-in” plot failed because someone exposed Gu Xiao’s identity). 【 Cannon Fodder Gong #2, Li Mengze: Progress zero. 】 (Even if he’s a playboy, he won’t snatch his best friend’s lover). 【 Gong #3, Jiang You’an: Progress zero. 】 (Just a kid following his brother around). Gong #4, Wen Shi: Plot halfway done, romantic progress zero. (An unreachable flower who won’t take his brother’s “wife”). 【 Cannon Fodder Gong #5, Li Chuan: Plot halfway done, romantic progress zero. 】 (He’s locked in a mental asylum; what can he do?) 【 Gong #6, He Wenyun: Plot almost done, romantic progress halfway—but only as a soulmate. 】 (Who he actually likes is still unknown). 【 Gong #7, Qi Chi: Both plot and romance are just a tiny bit away. 】
【 …Host, which one do you want to pick? 】
Gu Zhuo silently closed his eyes.Help me invite Qi Chi out for drinks.
77 took the command and manipulated the phone to send the message. The reply was instant. Gu Zhuo then personally messaged Jiang Yanning, tactfully stating he had business tonight and would be back late, so no need to wait for him for dinner.
Jiang Yanning instinctively typed: “Meeting who? Where?” but quickly deleted it, replying instead: “Okay, stay safe.” Looking at his messy desk, he suddenly lost the motivation to work. Coincidentally, He Wenyun asked him out for a drink. After a moment of hesitation, he agreed.
…
Tonight, “Twilight” was even more crowded than usual. Word was that a handsome resident singer had arrived. But none of this mattered to Gu Zhuo. He was seated in a corner on the first floor, opposite a stiff and upright Qi Chi.
A table full of booze sat between them; Gu Zhuo had pushed the small shot glasses aside. “Senior, real men drink straight from the bottle.” He gestured for Qi Chi to go first.
Qi Chi’s face was hard to see in the dim light, so Gu Zhuo didn’t notice the burning heat in his gaze. He invited me out? Does he like me? He’s so beautiful… Lost in thought, Qi Chi suddenly curled up in embarrassment and frantically grabbed a bottle, chugging it down.
Seeing things proceed so smoothly, Gu Zhuo nodded in satisfaction. Qi Chi became even more enthusiastic. After the man had finished nearly half the table on his own, Gu Zhuo decided it was enough and stopped him.
He grabbed Qi Chi’s clothes with one hand and dragged him toward the upper floors. Qi Chi’s world was spinning. His eyes landed on Gu Zhuo’s fair arm, his mind filled with question marks. Junior Gu… why is he so strong?
No one answered him. To settle things quickly, Gu Zhuo sped up his pace toward the fourth floor. Just as he was about to stuff Qi Chi into a storage room, two familiar figures appeared at the other end of the hallway.
He Wenyun was half-dragging, half-carrying Jiang Yanning. They opened Jiang Yanning’s private suite in Twilight and went inside.
Gu Zhuo’s entire aura changed instantly. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, dropped Qi Chi onto the floor like trash, and strode toward them.
He had noticed the clear resistance on Jiang Yanning’s face.
He’s been drugged again. Wenyun has designs on him.
These thoughts looped in his mind, stimulating his already sensitive nerves. His fingernails nearly drew blood from his palms.
He is Wenyun. My thing. You dare touch him?
In the void, 77 was suddenly jolted awake by a piercing alarm. On the screen, a piece of encrypted data was skyrocketing, about to break through the progress bar. The entire system space flashed with a blinding red light.
77 clutched its head and screamed silently.
It’s over! It’s all over!
