The Premeditated Seductress Childhood Friend - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Remembering Everything
Song Yixi didn’t dare go over.
She stopped at her own front door, trying to figure out how to pretend she hadn’t heard, but Yu Wei gave her a direct shove toward the opposite side.
“The Senior is calling you. Go on, hurry up.”
Caught off guard, Song Yixi found herself standing right in front of Xu Qingyu. She jumped slightly, her eyes colliding with Xu Qingyu’s enigmatic, half-smiling gaze. Yu Wei had already slipped into their own apartment and shut the door behind her; it was too late for Song Yixi to run.
She swallowed hard, bracing herself for Xu Qingyu’s anger. Standing someone up was definitely a reason for Xu Qingyu to be mad.
Sure enough, while she was shivering in place, Xu Qingyu raised her hand. Song Yixi instinctively closed her eyes.
But the expected pain never came. Instead, Xu Qingyu hooked one hand around the back of her neck and pulled her into the apartment. With a stumble, Song Yixi was pressed against the back of the door, immediately followed by Xu Qingyu’s kiss.
Song Yixi froze. She opened her eyes, trying to look at Xu Qingyu, but the grip on the back of her neck tightened—a silent reprimand for her lack of focus. Song Yixi’s breathing grew heavy; her thoughts were completely scattered by the kiss.
She slowly lowered her head and wrapped her arms around Xu Qingyu’s waist. Xu Qingyu’s waist was very slender; holding her felt soft, and a surge of sweetness flooded Song Yixi’s heart.
After a long while, Xu Qingyu pulled back, her voice slightly husky. “Do you like it?”
Song Yixi licked her lips in disbelief. “You’re… not mad at me?”
Xu Qingyu looked puzzled. “Why would I be mad?”
“Uh…” Song Yixi stammered, unable to find the words.
Xu Qingyu gently pinched her cheek. “Did I used to get mad at you a lot?”
Song Yixi wanted to say yes, but she didn’t dare. The old Xu Qingyu would frequently give her the silent treatment. The reasons for her anger were varied and strange; Song Yixi was always accidentally stepping on landmines. Over time, she had grown quite afraid of her.
“I see.” Xu Qingyu read the hesitation in Song Yixi’s eyes.
She was someone with a bit of a temper, and when she was angry, she never told Song Yixi directly. She made Song Yixi guess, and only after she guessed correctly would she allow herself to be coaxed. In a relationship, this was not a healthy way to coexist. She had simply been relying on Song Yixi’s kindness, consuming the other girl’s affection for her.
It had taken her three or four years to understand such a simple truth.
“Song Yixi, I’m sorry.”
Hearing Xu Qingyu apologize made Song Yixi’s eyes widen. “Why are you apologizing to me?”
“I treated you quite harshly in the past,” Xu Qingyu said. “I’m apologizing for all of that.”
Song Yixi was flattered, but after thinking about it, she didn’t quite agree. “I never felt like you treated me harshly.”
Xu Qingyu smiled. “That’s because you have a good temper.”
“Is that so?” Song Yixi looked down. “No one has ever told me I have a good temper. I always felt like you were the one putting up with me.”
The most common thing she heard about herself was that she was like a powder keg ready to explode. She only behaved herself in front of Xu Qingyu because she knew Xu Qingyu’s health was poor; she couldn’t bear to fight or shout at her.
“It’s because you are good to me,” Xu Qingyu said.
Song Yixi felt like the person in front of her had completely transformed. Xu Qingyu could make her head spin with just a few compliments. Maybe I really am that good to her? At the thought, she sheepishly scratched her ear.
“Mhm. I… I won’t stand you up ever again.”
A flicker of imperceptible satisfaction crossed Xu Qingyu’s eyes, but she still said, “It’s okay. You can take care of your own things first.”
Song Yixi shook her head decisively. “No, your things are more important.”
Xu Qingyu laughed and reached up to rub her head. “Okay. Thank you.”
Song Yixi gave a silly laugh in return. It wasn’t until she walked out of Xu Qingyu’s apartment that she snapped out of it. How did I get played by her again? She didn’t ask a single one of the questions she had planned!
Resigned, she opened her own door and went inside, deciding to ask next time she had the chance.
After showering, Song Yixi and Yu Wei sat on their new sofa playing on their phones. They had hand-washed the sofa covers, so the scent was strong, yet Song Yixi kept smelling a hint of Chinese herbal medicine. She asked Yu Wei, but Yu Wei said she didn’t smell anything.
Song Yixi wasn’t sure if it was psychological. When Yu Wei wasn’t looking, she sniffed herself. It felt like the scent was coming from her own body. When she asked again, Yu Wei shot her a look. “Why don’t you just move in across the hall?”
Song Yixi shut up.
Yu Wei was busy scrolling through gossip. “Look at the Moments! Chen Jingyu and 6’3″ are having a huge public blowout. It’s hilarious. Our whole class is watching. Hurry, hurry!”
Song Yixi wasn’t interested. “Not looking. I’m busy.” She was scrolling through mindless short videos.
Yu Wei insisted on showing her. “Look! I’m dying over here.”
Helpless, Song Yixi glanced over. Chen Jingyu had posted something insulting about 6’3″, and he was swearing at her in the comments, his usual “refined” mask completely gone. Chen Jingyu was firing back just as hard. Their insults were getting increasingly vulgar.
Song Yixi frowned. “It’s so undignified for a couple to end up like this.”
Yu Wei pulled her phone back. “Eh, feelings that come fast, go fast.”
Song Yixi shrugged, agreeing with that much.
Yu Wei sighed and said with an envious look, “Nothing beats childhood sweethearts who grew up together, I guess.”
Hearing the underlying meaning, Song Yixi yawned and faked being tired. “Going to bed. I can’t stay up late lately.”
“Tsk.” Yu Wei didn’t call her out. “Go on then, sleep.”
Song Yixi stood up, walked a few steps, and then turned back. “Send me the screenshots of Chen Jingyu’s Moments. I don’t have 6’3″ added, so I can’t see the comments.”
“Oho, so you do care about gossip now.” Yu Wei teased her while sending the screenshots.
Song Yixi didn’t say much and went back to her room. For some reason, she wanted to chat with Xu Qingyu but couldn’t find a way to start the conversation. Since Xu Qingyu had asked about 6’3″ before and even read Chen Jingyu’s pulse, this should be a safe topic, right?
Thinking this, she sent the screenshots over.
Xu Qingyu replied instantly: ?
Song Yixi typed slowly: They broke up.
Xu Qingyu: I can tell.
With just those few words, Song Yixi racked her brain but didn’t know how to continue. It felt like Xu Qingyu didn’t really want to talk. She pouted and set her phone face down.
But the next second, it vibrated. Song Yixi’s eyes lit up as she snatched it back.
Xu Qingyu: *Stay away from them. Their motives aren’t pure, and their language is foul. They’ll be a bad influence on you.
Song Yixi couldn’t help but smile. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m not that easy to corrupt.
Xu Qingyu, perhaps tired of typing, sent a voice message: “You’re still a kid to me. Remember when you used to chase me around calling me ‘Sister’? Did you forget?”
Hearing Xu Qingyu say the word “Sister” in that cool, clear voice gave Song Yixi goosebumps. She took two seconds to calm down before replying: How many years ago was that? You still remember?
Xu Qingyu gave a low laugh. “Everything related to you, I remember.”
