- The Possessive Villain Is Too Clingy [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 65 - Cultivator X Sea Demon
In the side chamber of Qiyan Sect’s annex, Ruan Ning lay with her eyes closed on a carved pearwood canopy bed.
A small green dragon, no larger than a palm, curled up into a tiny ball on her chest.
Every now and then, the little dragon would lift its head to glance toward Ruan Ning’s face. Seeing that she hadn’t woken up, it would lower its head again and continue keeping her company.
“Green Dragon! Little Green Dragon!” Bai Li Xin’er called out loudly before muttering under her breath, “This little thing is surprisingly hard to find.”
Ye Zhixia wanted to respond, but when she opened her mouth, all that came out was a soft, whimpering dragon sound.
[Forget it, I still can’t speak human words.] Ye Zhixia resigned herself inwardly.
Earlier, after being pierced through the heart by Chenxu Daoren, Ye Zhixia had thought her role in this small world had come to an end. She had even planned to return to the Quick Transmigration Bureau with Xiao Mi and figure out a way to come back to this world.
Unexpectedly, her soul didn’t return to the Quick Transmigration Bureau nor did it return to Xiao Mi’s space. Instead, she was pulled by a powerful force, drawn toward Qiyan Sect.
After a dizzying fusion, Ye Zhixia regained consciousness and tried to rub her eyes, only to find that her hands couldn’t reach her face.
Upon closer inspection, she realized she had become a tiny green dragon, completely naked.
The color of this little green dragon was identical to that of the Third Dragon Princess from the altar of Xuantian Sect.
At first, she thought she had taken over the Third Dragon Princess’s body. But as the princess’s memories gradually flooded into her mind, she realized that her identity in this world was none other than the Third Dragon Princess unloved by her parents and abandoned to wander alone since childhood!
Back then, the Dragon King had deceived her, promising to take her out to play and telling her there were many strange and wonderful things on the shore.
Overjoyed, she held her father’s hand and followed him to the shallow waters. But in the blink of an eye, her father vanished.
At the time, the Third Princess didn’t even know the meaning of the word “fear.” She grabbed the fish in the shallows and began asking for directions home.
But the East Sea Dragon Palace was hidden deep in the ocean, and ordinary sea creatures had no idea how to get there.
Before long, the Third Princess was captured by Chenxu Daoren, who had been lying in wait by the shore.
As it turned out, the so-called “Chenji Immortal” was actually Chenxu Daoren in disguise. His goal had been to abduct the Third Princess and use the bloodline and essence of the dragon race to aid his own path to immortality.
As for the body Ye Zhixia had inhabited before, it was a physical form the Third Princess had created by extracting a fragment of her divine soul.
Because the spiritual energy of dragons differed from that of humans, the previous Ye Zhixia had been unable to cultivate using human methods. Moreover, as an incomplete soul fragment, she lacked the ability to actively absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.
As for what happened after the Third Princess was abducted and how she extracted this fragment of her soul that involved another person.
“Little Green Dragon, are you in there?” Bai Li Xin’er called out after searching around and returning to the door of Ruan Ning’s room.
Hearing the noise, Ruan Ning slowly woke up.
The sight of Ye Zhixia lying on top of her gave her a fright.
“Snake!” Ruan Ning shrieked, shuddering so violently that Ye Zhixia was flung to the floor.
Ye Zhixia tumbled off the bed with a thud, landing on her back. The pain made her grimace, but all she could manage was a pitiful “whimper-whimper” dragon cry.
[What a pathetic excuse for a dragon!] Ye Zhixia complained again.
Outside the door, Bai Li Xin’er heard Ruan Ning’s scream and rushed in, only to find the little green dragon lying on its back, wriggling helplessly on the floor.
She softly chided, “You little Azure Dragon, instead of staying properly in my room, you came here to bother Miss Ruan.”
With that, she reached down to pick up the little dragon from the floor.
Seeing Baili Xin’er approach, Ye Zhixia flipped up with a swift dragon twist, scurried back onto the bed with a whoosh, and burrowed under Ruan Ning’s blanket to hide.
[Miss Baili, I’m not close with you! I don’t want to share a room with you!] Ye Zhixia roared inwardly.
Ruan Ning had just realized that what was under the blanket wasn’t a snake but the little Azure Dragon, and immediately understood this must be the Third Dragon Princess they had rescued.
The memory of Ye Zhixia vanishing flashed through Ruan Ning’s mind. She rolled off the bed, slipped on her shoes, and headed for the door.
Ye Zhixia hurriedly followed.
“Miss Ruan, where are you going?” Bai Li Xin’er turned slightly, watching Ruan Ning stride toward the exit.
Ruan Ning didn’t answer, her face stern as she hurried toward the door.
Suddenly, Master Yuntai appeared, blocking Ruan Ning and Ye Zhixia’s path.
Beside her stood Xu Sui.
“Miss Ruan, whatever matter you have can wait. First, take back your inner core,” Master Yuntai said with a gentle smile. “I’ve had Miss Xu soak in the spirit spring these past few days, it’s now safe to return it to you.”
Ruan Ning was silent for a moment before nodding firmly at Master Yuntai.
Her cultivation had already recovered to the level it was before losing her core. If she reclaimed it now, she’d be even more confident in killing those two villains from the Xuantian Sect.
“So this is the Third Dragon Princess?” Xu Sui stared at Ye Zhixia, who was clinging to Ruan Ning’s arm.
Baili Xin’er finally sauntered over. “This little dragon seems quite fond of Miss Ruan.”
Unable to speak, Ye Zhixia could only gaze pitifully at Ruan Ning.
Ruan Ning pulled the little dragon from her arm and cradled it in her embrace, saying coolly, “Perhaps it’s because we’re both creatures of the sea, she finds me more familiar.”
With no way to communicate with Ruan Ning for now, Ye Zhixia relaxed and nestled in her arms, letting herself be held.
–
On the luohan bed in the center of the room, Xu Sui and Ruan Ning sat facing each other.
Over the years, the demon core inside Xu Sui had intertwined with her meridians. Though she had soaked in the spirit spring and taken many of Master Yuntai’s protective elixirs, the process of extracting the core still wracked her with pain.
Once the core was removed, Baili Xin’er immediately pulled Xu Sui close, transferring qi to ease her suffering.
Meanwhile, the demon core hovered above Master Yuntai’s palm, slowly drifting toward Ruan Ning’s forehead.
Little Azure Dragon Ye Zhixia watched anxiously from the edge of the luohan bed, her eyes fixed on the golden core.
As the core gradually merged into Ruan Ning’s brow, her body trembled slightly, muscles tensing, beads of sweat forming on her skin.
[Oh no! Ningning’s in pain!] Ye Zhixia instantly grew alert.
Her dragon claws fidgeted nervously, tapping a frantic rhythm on the luohan bed.
After struggling for a while, she could only rest her head on Ruan Ning’s limp hand, hoping to comfort her.
The cool touch of dragon scales did help Ruan Ning relax a little. She curled her fingers slightly, gently scratching Ye Zhixia’s chin.
Ruan Ning had planned to set off immediately after reclaiming her core to avenge Ye Zhixia. But once the core was fully absorbed, she collapsed again, drained of strength.
Master Yuntai had anticipated this. She quickly helped Ruan Ning back onto the bed, tucked her in, then had Baili Xin’er escort Xu Sui out.
Before leaving, Baili Xin’er glanced at the little dragon now climbing onto the bed. “You really won’t come with me?”
Ye Zhixia quickly shook her dragon head.
Bai Lixin’er didn’t insist either. She turned and left with Xu Sui, following Yun Tai Zhenren.
Watching Ruan Ning sleeping soundly, Ye Zhixia wriggled into the side of her blanket, nestling against her shoulder and closing her eyes for a short nap.
She wanted Ruan Ning to see her the moment she woke up, even if she was just a little green dragon for now.
Before long, Ye Zhixia also drifted into a deep slumber.
In her dream, she was wrapped in soft, fluffy clouds, with Ruan Ning transformed into a siren beside her.
“Ningning, that seashell you’re wearing is so cute,” dream-Ye Zhixia fawned.
Ruan Ning didn’t respond, only smiling at her.
“Can I take a look…” Ye Zhixia asked with a lecherous grin, “just a peek at that seashell?”
As soon as she finished speaking, she reached out a mischievous hand.
Ruan Ning kept smiling, but then she lifted her hand and pinched the flesh on Ye Zhixia’s cheek.
[Eh? Why does this hurt a little?] Ye Zhixia wondered inwardly.
Ruan Ning’s pinch grew stronger, and she even started shaking Ye Zhixia’s face side to side.
In a daze, Ye Zhixia opened her eyes.
She found Ruan Ning frowning while pinching her cheek in real life.
“Ningning, what are you doing?” Ye Zhixia asked, “That hurts…”
Hearing Ye Zhixia’s familiar voice, Ruan Ning’s furrowed brows relaxed, her eyes gradually curving into crescents as she wrapped her arms around Ye Zhixia’s neck, crying tears of joy. “I… I’m really not dreaming, am I?”
Ye Zhixia suddenly realized, she could speak again! She quickly lifted her arm to look at her hand.
She had transformed! She was no longer the speechless little green dragon.
Ruan Ning released her, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Seeing this, Ye Zhixia recalled the dream. Had she, in her sleep, gotten handsy with Ruan Ning just like in the dream?
Her gaze instinctively darted toward the direction of the seashell from her dream thankfully, Ruan Ning was still wearing her inner robe.
Wait!
Ye Zhixia suddenly realized something. She had transformed in her sleep, so she definitely hadn’t been mindful of…
She glanced down at herself and immediately yanked the blanket tighter. “Uh, Ningning, I… um…”
Though they had lived through two lifetimes together, Ye Zhixia was still incredibly shy at this moment.
Now that her memories and spiritual power had returned, she tried conjuring clothes for herself, but her newly regained form made it hard to control her energy. No matter how hard she tried, nothing appeared.
“Can you help me find some clothes?” she finally managed to voice her request.
Ruan Ning wiped her tears, slipped out from under the blanket, and even tucked the edges around Ye Zhixia.
She fetched a set of black-and-red robes and placed them on the bed before walking a distance away to sit down, turning her back.
Once dressed, Ye Zhixia suddenly thought of something. She walked over to Ruan Ning, tilting her head and eyeing her sideways. “Ningning, were you pinching my face earlier to check if you were dreaming?”
Ruan Ning pressed her lips together, lowering her eyes as she laughed.
Ye Zhixia bent down, pretending to be angry. “Look at you, not even feeling sorry for me?”
“Apologize!” Ye Zhixia leaned in close to Ruan Ning’s face. “Quick, give me a kiss and I’ll forgive you!”
Ruan Ning couldn’t hold back her laughter and darted away to the other side.
The two began chasing each other around the room.
Outside, Xu Sui tilted her head, her expression one of disbelief.
She didn’t know Ye Zhixia had transformed, she thought Ruan Ning was talking to the Third Dragon Princess while giggling to herself.
“Did transferring the inner core mess with Ruan Ning’s brain?” She shook her head and walked away.
After a wild bout of running and playful tussling, Ye Zhixia caught Ruan Ning.
The two happened to reach the edge of the bed just then. Ye Zhixia wrapped her arms around Ruan Ning’s waist and, cushioning herself beneath, rolled them both onto the bed.
When they finally came to a stop, Ye Zhixia was on top, Ruan Ning beneath, their faces mere inches apart.
Their laughter faded as Ye Zhixia’s expression softened into tenderness, while a blush spread across Ruan Ning’s cheeks.
Their faces drew closer and closer…
BANG! The door was suddenly flung open.
“The people from Xuantian Sect have come to Qiyan Sect to take the little Azure Dragon away, Miss Ruan…” The loud, clear voice of Elder Yuntai abruptly cut off.
“Xiaxia? You’re not dead?” She was overjoyed to see Ye Zhixia.
But the next moment, she remembered the urgent matter at hand: “Where’s the little Azure Dragon?”
Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, she added, “Could it be that the little Azure Dragon is…”
Seizing the moment while Elder Yuntai was still stunned, Ye Zhixia quickly stood up and straightened her clothes. “That’s right. It’s me.”
“Hand over the demon dragon!” A harsh male voice rang out from outside.
