The Only Ultimate Alpha in the Universe - Chapter 18
Dust filled the air. The platinum sun in the sky tirelessly radiated heat, parching the earth below.
Xiao Sa’s mental domain finally reached its limit. It dispersed silently and without a trace. The mental entities he had been suppressing felt the crushing pressure vanish, and strength returned to their bodies.
Unfortunately for them, their relief was short-lived. Ten combat flyers, accompanied by dozens of murderous mechs, suddenly joined the fray. The newcomers were not some nameless gang; they were the Imperial Regular Army, equipped with the highest specification tactical weaponry.
Before these killing machines, the exoskeletons and laser guns of the gang elites and mercenaries were mere toys. The ground mechs alone were enough to grind these civilian forces into dust without even needing aerial support.
Landis’s cold, ruthless voice rang out from the cockpit. “You scum who prey on the weak and hide behind numbers; your strength does not even reach a tenth of your shamelessness. Sending you to hell would be doing you a favor!”
The leader of the Ross Club and the corrupt official had already scrambled into their vehicle, but before they could start the engine, a volley of shells overturned it. Covered in grey dust and pinned beneath the wreckage, the leader nearly coughed up blood. Who exactly was bullying whom?!
Deken and the other pirates, who had been in the middle of a fierce firefight, were stunned. They saw the unmistakable Third Legion insignia on the flyers. Had the targets not been their enemies, Deken would have thought Landis had tracked them here specifically to finish them off.
But why was the Admiral’s mech heading straight for Lord Alpha?
At that moment, Xiao Sa, the victim of this “predatory behavior,” propped himself up on the scorching sand. Enduring the stinging pain across his skin, he stood up slowly, looking at the divine reinforcements with total confusion. Where did these guys come from?
The cockpit door of the black and gold mech in front of him suddenly opened. A tall figure in a black tactical suit jumped down and strode toward him. The man removed his goggles, revealing light blonde hair and a pair of ice-blue eyes that clearly reflected Xiao Sa’s battered and weakened state.
“Are you alright? Do not be afraid. You are safe now.” Landis’s voice was steady as ever, but he consciously softened his tone so as not to frighten the bullied Xiao Sa.
Xiao Sa stared back in surprise. Admiral Landis? Why is he here? And more importantly, Who is afraid?
Landis looked at Xiao Sa’s shredded cloak and his clothes covered in filth and blood. His brow furrowed deeply. “Are you injured?”
Before Xiao Sa could deny it and explain that the blood wasn’t his, the ever-decisive Landis swept him up in a horizontal carry and strode back toward the mech cockpit.
Xiao Sa, being carried like this for the first time in his life, was stunned. His pupils dilated as he stared at Landis. “Wait, I can walk!”
His body had been drained by the solar rays, and Landis’s grip was incredibly firm. For a moment, he actually could not break free. Landis paid no mind to the polite refusal, even adjusting his arms so his pitiful date could lean directly against his shoulder.
Xiao Sa felt a speechless sense of being overwhelmed by sheer Big Alpha Energy. He wanted to say something to salvage his image, but then, near the crook of Landis’s neck, a very faint scent of pheromones drifted into his nose.
This scent.
Xiao Sa’s brow furrowed. He leaned in closer to sniff, his nose almost touching Landis’s skin. He was all too familiar with this smell; it was his own pheromone scent. Though he had suspected he might have marked Landis, seeing it confirmed now was still astounding. We aren’t even the same species, yet I can actually mark people in this star system.
A significant amount of time had passed since that bite on the warship. Temporary marking pheromones usually dissipate with metabolism; now, only a trace remained. If Xiao Sa had not been this close, he would not have smelled it at all. Now that the man he had marked was carrying him, Xiao Sa’s feelings became complicated.
Landis looked down. From his perspective, Xiao Sa’s thick lashes were lowered and his face was pale. He looked like an abandoned stray dog, frightened, insecure, and desperate to bury its head into his shoulder for safety. His gaze darkened. I should have found him sooner.
In an instant, they were back in the cockpit. The space inside the three-meter micro-mech was quite cramped. Two men nearly 190cm tall were squeezed together, thighs touching thighs, arms brushing arms. However, no longer exposed to the solar rays, Xiao Sa took a few breaths and felt much better.
“You do not need to worry about the rest.” Landis’s hands never stopped moving across the controls. He issued a series of orders through the command channel, essentially declaring the local gangs a thing of the past. “Leave none behind.”
“I brought a medical team. I am taking you back to the starship now.”
Xiao Sa glanced at him helplessly, leaning back in the seat with very little energy. “No need. I am fine. I just need a night of rest. Also, those friends who were escorting me; please let them go.” He definitely wanted to avoid a medical team. What if their equipment exposed his alien identity?
Landis glanced at him briefly, then turned back without a word.
After a silence, Xiao Sa spoke up. “Admiral, how did you find this place?”
Landis replied, “I came specifically to take you to the Central Star. This is a lower-class planet; the environment is too hot for habitation, the economy is poor, and gangs run rampant. It is not safe for you.”
Fine. He was heading to the Central Star anyway. Xiao Sa felt a slight headache. Landis coming all this way was not just about a change of scenery. He remembered the last date when the man said he would show his sincerity.
Xiao Sa’s gaze unconsciously fell on the man beside him. Landis was wearing a tight tactical suit that highlighted his broad shoulders and narrow waist. The zipper was pulled all the way up, completely covering his neck. The bite marks were invisible.
By logic, an Omega marked by an Alpha should develop a strong dependency, craving the Alpha’s touch and wanting to stay enveloped in their scent for security. While Betas usually aren’t marked, they should have similar feelings. But right now, squeezed together in this tiny cockpit, Landis had not shown a single sign of being marked. If it weren’t for that trace of scent on his neck, Xiao Sa would have suspected he was overthinking it.
Perhaps there really was reproductive isolation. Maybe in a few days, the scent would vanish and there would not be any side effects.
Thinking of this, Xiao Sa felt a bit relieved. He relaxed and adjusted his seating position, shifting further back to save space. The moment his thigh brushed against Landis’s, he felt the man’s muscles stiffen. Xiao Sa tilted his head, giving him a strange look.
Landis was staring expressionlessly at the console display. He lowered the air conditioning temperature and silently pulled the zipper of his collar down an inch, revealing a slightly flushed throat. His Adam’s apple bobbed almost imperceptibly.
“We are here.”
The black and gold mech, trailing pale blue flames, flew into the starship’s landing bay. Xiao Sa had recovered some strength and insisted on walking himself. Landis frowned slightly but did not push. “I have had a bedroom prepared. There is hot water and clean clothes. Rest first, and eat something.”
Xiao Sa finished a blissful hot bath, threw away his filthy black clothes, and changed into the clean ones provided. He walked out drying his hair, a carton of nutrient milk in his mouth. In the living room, Landis was directing several secretaries to organize contracts and documents on the table.
Hearing footsteps, Landis turned around.
The clothes provided were a standard training set. Xiao Sa did not like tight vests, so he had thrown the white jacket over his bare chest. The loose, high-waisted white trousers were cinched at his narrow waist, highlighting his long legs. Under the warm lights, Xiao Sa’s dark brown hair had a moist sheen. He brushed it back, revealing a clean forehead and sharp eyes. He draped a towel around his neck, the zipper of his jacket pulled down to his chest.
Xiao Sa radiated a vibrant, unrestrained energy. He stood before Landis, and the contrast between their auras was striking.
“Sir, the contracts and agreements are ready,” Carlo whispered.
Landis stared at Xiao Sa for a long moment before snapping back to reality. He nodded. “Leave them.”
“We will take our leave then.” Carlo gave Xiao Sa a subtle look and considerately closed the door.
“What contracts?”
Landis pulled out a chair for him and placed a stack of documents on the table. He said neutrally, “These are a portion of the Wenser family assets. I am the head of the house. In the future, my legal spouse will own half of all the assets under my name.”
“This includes over three hundred prime real estate plots in the family territory, private starships, rights to multiple mines, and dozens of interstellar ports.” Landis went on, the pages of the contracts almost too many to flip through. “Furthermore, while I cannot replace your gemstone necklace, I have a rare amethyst mine I can give you. You can have as many necklaces made as you like.”
In addition, there was lifelong care from a top-tier medical team.
Xiao Sa stared at these priceless documents in shock, his gaze complicated. “You are losing out too much on this deal.”
Landis lowered his head and gave a rare smile, shaking his head. “There is one thing I must tell you honestly.” He paused. “I entered the military academy at fifteen and joined the army at twenty. It has been ten years, and I have fought in countless battles. Long ago, I began showing signs of mental pollution.”
“As an S-grade, the severity of my condition far exceeds that of an A-grade. Your grade is low; if you marry me, there is a risk of infection or assimilation by the pollution.”
“I know that those with mental disabilities generally have shorter lifespans. Perhaps being with me will make it even shorter.” Landis looked into Xiao Sa’s eyes and said calmly, “But I will do everything in my power to protect you and care for you until the very last moment of our lives.”
“So, Mr. Xiao Sa, are you willing to enter into a marriage with me?”
