- Chapter 37 - Preparing for Vacation with My Fiancée
For Milan’s autumn/winter fashion week, Wen Yan had cleared her schedule in advance, deliberately setting aside a full week.
She treated it as a short vacation for herself after a long period of filming.
Before returning to the capital, she followed her usual routine and contacted Officer Bi Yu to inquire about the latest developments in the case. Bi Yu didn’t say much over WeChat but instead arranged a time and place to meet, implying they should discuss things in person.
Wen Yan drove to the meeting. When she arrived at the Starbucks, Bi Yu hadn’t shown up yet, so she chose a seat by the glass wall where she could easily spot anyone approaching.
An Americano, a vanilla latte, two delicate slices of cake, and a meeting with the beautiful police officer all in all, it promised to be a pleasant afternoon tea.
The Americano was for Wen Yan. Her next role was as Qi Xing in Director Lin’s film Escape from Danger, a character described as extremely thin. Wen Yan was already slim, but to perfectly match the role, she needed to lose even more weight.
She could only take one bite of the cake before reluctantly setting it aside such was the unavoidable pain of being an actress.
It was the weekend, and Bi Yu wasn’t on duty. She had been dropped off by Gu Shuang. Both of them were workaholics, usually spending little time together, so whenever they had a break, they would find ways to be inseparable. If there was no reason to go out, neither of them would even think about leaving the bed.
Gu Shuang had been unhappy that Bi Yu was meeting someone else during their time off, clinging to her in bed and refusing to let go, a far cry from her usual cold demeanor in front of others. Bi Yu had no choice but to hold her face, kiss her, and whisper sweet nothings, yet she still couldn’t fully appease her wife.
Finally, with no other option, she used Wen Yan as an excuse.
“She’s your future sister-in-law, after all. I can’t just not show up, can I?”
Gu Shuang had no choice but to reluctantly get up, change clothes, and drive her adorable wife to meet her future sister-in-law.
Bi Yu sat down and greeted Wen Yan, only to notice the teasing look in the other woman’s eyes.
?
Following Wen Yan’s gaze, she looked down and realized her shirt’s top button was undone, revealing her fair skin, prominent collarbone, and scattered love bites suggestive and sensual.
Bi Yu’s face flushed bright red, and she hurriedly fastened the button, hiding the intimate marks from view.
“Looks like I interrupted you two,” Wen Yan said with a smile, taking a sip of her coffee. It was rich and aromatic, with a subtle sweetness lingering on her palate.
“Not at all.”
The embarrassment lasted only a moment. Bi Yu quickly composed herself, remembering the main purpose of their meeting Liang Feng.
Based on the content of Wen Yan’s voice recorder, Bi Yu had searched Liang Feng’s phone, hoping to find relevant clues. Although Liang Feng was cunning and had thoroughly deleted all text and call records, the transaction history couldn’t be erased. If someone had indeed hired him to kill Wen Yan, there must have been a financial transaction involved. Following this lead, Bi Yu discovered that, one month before Liang Feng’s attempted crime, 100,000 Chinese yuan had been deposited into his account.
This had to be the advance payment from the perpetrator Bi Yu was certain of it. She then investigated the owner of the account.
The results, however, were disappointing. The account was registered overseas, and the transfer had been made cross-border. Domestically, they lacked the capability and authority to access the account holder’s identity information.
The trail went cold again. The real mastermind was far beyond reach, orchestrating a murder plot from thousands of miles away but for what purpose?
With no other options, Bi Yu had to turn back to Liang Feng, using the bank transfer records to pressure him into revealing who was behind it all.
Liang Feng stubbornly insisted there was no one else pulling the strings, he had planned everything alone from start to finish. As for the money, he claimed it was simply a gift from a sympathetic friend abroad.
Bi Yu didn’t believe a word of it.
Liang Feng’s family business was on the verge of bankruptcy, drowning in debt. And according to his spending records, after receiving that money, the first thing he did was buy a brand-new Hermès suit, then used the rest to secure a reservation at a Michelin-starred Western restaurant.
What kind of nearly bankrupt rich kid would use a friend’s “gift” to drug and assault an omega?
The logic just didn’t add up.
Bi Yu dangled a carrot: “If you give us a name, we can reduce your sentence once we apprehend the person.”
“You wouldn’t want to waste your youth behind bars, would you?”
Liang Feng’s eyes shifted, as if his resolve was wavering.
But his lips remained sealed, stubbornly tight.
“Let me remind you of something else,” Bi Yu added. “Prisons are full of lustful alphas like you.”
“Some have been locked up for seven or eight years with no omega to relieve their desires. So they help each other out or force each other to satisfy their needs. It’s a common occurrence.”
Bi Yu smiled faintly, his gaze lingering on Liang Feng’s handsome face with clear implication.
“Do you think alphas like you, fair-skinned and clean-cut, would be to their liking?”
Liang Feng’s face instantly turned pale. He shot up, roaring, “You’re threatening me!”
Bi Yu shrugged, feigning innocence. “I’m just stating facts. Which part sounded like a threat to you?”
“I have a college classmate who became a prison guard after graduation. He told me inmates live in terrible conditions no human rights. Plenty get beaten to death by the guards.”
Liang Feng’s expression grew increasingly grim, his eyes clouded with despair.
“And some guards have certain preferences, you know? After all, you’re quite the playboy yourself.”
“They take out their violent, sadistic urges on the prisoners.”
“And once someone’s been touched by a guard, the other inmates start calling them.”
“Shut up! I don’t want to hear it!”
Liang Feng lunged forward, trying to escape, but the heavy shackles on his ankles and the handcuffs on his wrists held him firmly in place, forcing him to listen to the terrifying words.
“A power outlet.”
“Meaning anyone can plug in.”
“Scary, isn’t it?”
Bi Yu tilted his head, his eyes as pure as an angel’s, yet his words dripped with demonic temptation.
“Just tell us who’s behind this, and I promise you won’t have to endure any of that.”
“But if you’re actually into it and want to experience what it’s like to be an omega.”
“Then by all means, keep quiet.”
“After all, you’re just a disposable pawn. I’m sure if the real culprit isn’t willing to let this go, they’ll find another scapegoat to do their dirty work.”
“What a waste to throw your whole life away for nothing.”
Liang Feng’s deepest fears had been dragged out by this damned, fuckable omega before him. He could no longer maintain his composure or dignity, hysterical like a madman.
“Shut up! She promised she would save me!”
“Don’t even think about getting a single word out of me!”
Bi Yu narrowed her eyes. No matter what, there was indeed someone behind this.
This could be considered a gain.
“Oh?”
“I wonder how many people she’s said that to. The last criminal who tried to run over Wen Yan also sat exactly where you are now, insisting no one was pulling the strings.”
“But after a lawyer visited, he committed suicide in his cell that very night.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t give you that opportunity.”
“At the very least, Young Master Liang should experience the pleasures of being an omega.”
Bi Yu stood up, collected the documents from the table, and assumed the posture of someone who had finished questioning and was about to leave.
She had shown her hand.
On the gambling table, she pushed all her chips forward. This was undoubtedly a high-stakes gamble she could win big, sweeping the entire pot, or lose completely, bankrupting herself.
But regardless, her unstoppable, relentless momentum intimidated the dealer across the table, making him constantly doubt whether the cards in his hand were even worth playing.
Call or fold?
Liang Feng’s mind raced, various factors of interest flashing through his thoughts. But after being intimidated and threatened, his brain could no longer process such complex situations, leaving only a raw survival instinct and the stubborn refusal to be humiliated.
“I’ll talk!”
“Don’t go! I’ll talk.”
Good.
A faint smile flickered at the corner of Bi Yu’s lips.
The fish had finally taken the bait.
