The Omega Becomes The Zerg Queen - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: The Window is Open
There was a short distance between the Sanctuary Auditorium and the Queen’s bedchamber. Fortunately, Su Lili had become familiar with the route over the past two days, so she managed to run back without getting lost.
“Bang!”
The ornate doors, decorated with exquisite reliefs, were slammed shut.
Still shaken, Su Lili leaned against the door, her chest heaving as she panted for breath. To match her Greek-style gown, she was wearing a pair of wedge-heeled straw sandals today. Her tender white toes and rounded, shell-like nails were slightly flushed.
Once her breathing steadied, she looked down at the floor, her expression dazed and thoughtful.
Omegas were naturally weak and could only endure physical intimacy after being marked by an Alpha. Right now, none of the Zerg around her could be considered Alphas. Could they mark her?
—Probably not.
The bond between Alpha and Omega relied on pheromones and glands, and she hadn’t smelled a single trace of pheromones on any of the Zerg. They lacked the ability to mark. But if there was no marking, how was she supposed to survive her Estrous Heat? These men couldn’t even give her a temporary mark.
Moreover…
She raised her hand and looked at her palm. Her slender limbs and soft skin were as fair and delicate as before, looking as though they would break with a mere gust of wind—the standard fragile appearance of an Omega. But she knew better than anyone that the power contained within this body already far exceeded what an Omega should possess. Though she didn’t know why she still had glands, she was no longer a pure Omega; she was the Queen of the Zerg.
What would the Estrous Heat even look like for someone like her?
Su Lili let out a long sigh. In this alien world, she had no reference materials; everything was unknown. Flashes of what she had just seen in the auditorium flickered before her eyes.
—With such inhuman proportions, could she really accommodate them?
Before the heat truly arrived, all she could do was prepare as much as possible and protect herself.
On her system panel: C-grade Mental Power Remaining: 80%
She had fled halfway through her “meal” earlier, so her mental power hadn’t fully recovered. She furrowed her brows but ultimately gave up on the idea of finding Ferran for more honey. When Ferran and Lucius had approached her with reddened eyes, the look in their gaze suggested they might devour her in the next second. She didn’t want to experience that again anytime soon.
Besides, 80% was enough for her normal daily life. Su Lili pressed a hand to her chest, feeling much more at ease.
The Zerg home planet hadn’t been born a home planet. After the Zerg iron tide swept through the galaxy, they chose the most habitable one among the subordinate planets to be the King’s residence. On the home planet, the climate was pleasant at all times, with perfect temperature and humidity.
But today was different.
Earlier in the Sanctuary Auditorium, under the rising body heat of several people, the room temperature had been staggering. Coupled with the intense focus required to repair Ferran’s mental sea, she had broken into a sweat. Now, the thin white gauze dress was clinging to her body; she felt sticky and uncomfortable.
I should take a bath first.
She took a set of apricot-colored loungewear from the wardrobe and stepped into the bathroom. In the spacious bathroom, the window on the east side was half-ajar, echoing with the faint sound of the wind.
Huh? Did someone forget to close the window?
Su Lili walked to the window and looked out. Her bedchamber was on the highest level of the Sanctuary. Looking down, there was only the towering, endless smooth wall. Every few levels down, there were platforms for guards to stand watch. Dense rows of guards patrolled in shifts, providing a strong sense of security.
At this height, no one should be able to bypass the heavy security of the Sanctuary and climb in, right?
She scanned the bathroom again, found nothing unusual, then reached out to close the window and returned to the bath. Since this bath was a spontaneous idea, no one had prepared flowers or spices for her in advance. She would just have to soak in the plain spring water.
The clear hot spring water was specially piped in by the Zerg from deep underground. The square tub was carved from a single piece of white jade, with inlets shaped like unknown creatures continuously pouring hot water into the basin. Ethereal milky-white mist rose slowly, making the room look like a fairyland.
Once the water level rose, she impatiently tested it. Her snowy toes dipped into the surface, turning a deep pink where they touched the water. The temperature was perfect. Su Lili shed her clothes and slowly sat down against the wall of the tub. The water reached her chest, exposing her delicate collarbones and rounded shoulders. She scooped up water and poured it over herself. The warm water made her whole body go soft.
“So comfortable…”
Just soaking was a bit boring. Su Lili opened her terminal to see if there was any fresh news. Currently, the hottest topic on Bug-blog was the day Zephyros took her from the arena. The thread was packed with videos taken from every possible angle.
The Zerg were obsessed with finding any trace of the Queen. Even if she was draped in a black cloak and only a tip of her chin was visible, they never tired of it.
—The Queen’s chin must be the most beautifully curved and shaped chin in existence.
Among the posts, the one with the highest popularity was about No. 84, the one who had been defeated by Yesal. In the video, he was wearing blue-and-white striped hospital pajamas, his wings not yet fully recovered. Yet he looked jubilant as he told the camera about meeting the Queen on the street.
“That day, I heard someone asking questions, so I stepped forward to answer. I didn’t recognize it was Her Majesty at first! But after seeing her, I felt a strong urge to get closer. I invited her to watch my match, and she actually came! I am the happiest bug in the galaxy!”
The rest of the hour-long video was him repeatedly reminiscing about Her Majesty’s tone—how gentle and kind she was.
Initially, Su Lili found it somewhat amusing to see her experiences described from a different perspective. But after seeing too much, she became fatigued. Finally, among the sea of Queen-related posts, an outlier caught her eye:
“Huge Credits Spent in Dart Shop: Who is the Winner in this Male-Male-Male Love Triangle?”
She clicked in. According to the blogger:
“I bumped into two male Zerg acting intimately on the street. One had darker skin and never took his eyes off the other. Later, I saw them at the dart shop. The fair-skinned bug was a novice but loaded! Then another young high-level bug showed up—a famous one from the Military Academy. He provoked them, they made a bet, and the fair-skinned bug won!
Heavens, when the fair-skinned bug lifted the young bug’s chin and told him to call him ‘Master,’ even I felt my heart skip a beat. The dark-skinned bug following him looked like a very tolerant ‘Main Wife.’ The fair-skinned bug told the young bug he wasn’t qualified yet and to come back in a few days. Talk about ‘fishing’!”
“…”
Su Lili didn’t know whether to be relieved or to laugh bitterly. What was a temporary measure at the time looked like “deliberate fishing” to outsiders. She closed the Bug-blog, submerged the lower half of her face in the water, and blew bubbles like a fish.
In her peripheral vision, she suddenly saw a shadow sweep past the corner of the misty tub.
Was that an illusion?
She splashed water on her face and rubbed her eyes. When she looked again, the water in the corner was clear.
“Ding—”
Her terminal let out a notification sound. Someone had sent her a message.
