The Omega Becomes The Zerg Queen - Chapter 34
Chapter 34: The Manservant
She took a deep breath and calmed her heart. To be safe, she even intensified the focus of her mental power. For this strike, she had to give it her all—success was the only option; failure was not allowed.
The dart shot out at high speed, whistling through the air. The moment the silk thread was severed and the long whip fell, the surrounding crowd erupted into a burst of cheers.
As expected, she had won.
Su Lili picked up the whip. The snow-white weapon felt delicate and cool in her hand, with a flexible, resilient texture. She recalled the weapon’s description: it was made from the hide of a rare interstellar monster called the “Shari” Gorgon. These creatures were experts at using mental power to charm their enemies, dragging them back to their nests to be killed once they lost consciousness. Because their mental power was extremely formidable, they were incredibly difficult to hunt.
Finding a perfectly preserved hide to make a complete whip was a rare feat.
She wound the flexible whip around her fingers, the fine scales feeling as smooth as silk. Then, she lifted her gaze to Sangis. The red-haired youth’s green eyes were wide, like those of a startled cat. His lips were pressed tightly together, and he no longer looked as overbearing as he had before.
Walking slowly up to Sangis, she tilted her chin. “Well?”
With her disguised tall stature, standing close made the boy seem a head shorter in presence.
Sangis ground his teeth, squeezing a reluctant voice through his cracks. “You won. A bet is a bet. I will be your servant for one day.”
The onlookers began to whisper at the sight.
“That guy… isn’t he the third-year president of the First Zerg Military Academy?” “That one? I heard his strength is terrifying.” “Not just his strength; his temper is terrifying too. I heard he once tore the wings off a Butterfly-type classmate just because he thought they were too flashy and hurt his eyes.” “…This guy is a notorious jinx.”
Perhaps hearing the discussion, Sangis’s eyes shifted, casting a glance into the crowd. That contemptuous look was filled with a cold, detached murderous intent, as if the surrounding Zerg were merely ants he could crush at will. How could the gossip of ants affect an elephant? After all, an elephant only needs to lift its foot to cause an earthquake for them.
The Zerg who met his gaze instinctively took a step back. The whispering stopped abruptly; for a moment, no one dared to speak.
Sangis retracted his gaze, checked the time, and said, “From now until this time tomorrow, I am your servant.”
The youth in the center of the crowd kept the corners of his mouth flat, his face devoid of any extra expression. He seemed to have accepted the reality of losing the bet.
“In that case.” Su Lili curled her lips, coiled the whip in her right hand, and somewhat playfully tilted the boy’s short, pointed chin upward. “First, let me hear you call me ‘Master’.”
With a bit of wicked humor, she leaned in closer, wanting to see if the boy could maintain his cold expression. She said, syllable by syllable: “My. Little. Man. Servant.”
The face of the youth, whose features were as exquisite as a cat’s, instantly turned beet-red. It looked as if steam might erupt from the top of his head.
Although this expression was a bit different from the “shame-turned-to-rage” look she expected, seeing the arrogant brat finally lose his cool made Su Lili smile. Satisfied, she pulled back the whip.
In reality, Sangis was indeed both ashamed and annoyed.
As her physique improved, Su Lili’s glands became more mature, constantly striving to release her sweet, clear pheromones. The suppression of her mental power was growing weaker. Not to mention that because of the shooting challenge, she had broken into a thin sweat and used extra mental energy, further depleting her reserves.
Bodily fluids are the best carriers for pheromones. Her fingers had touched the leather whip, so it inevitably carried some of her sweat.
As the cool, delicate whip pressed against his chin, the sweet, seductive scent radiated from it, burrowing straight into his pores. Sangis’s brain felt a bit dazed. Was it because of the ‘Shari’ hide? Did the whip itself have a charming attribute?
Before he could think it through, the answer became obvious. As this “Low-Ability Bug” leaned closer, the originally faint fragrance became incredibly dense. The thick scent wrapped around him from all directions like glue, making it so airtight he felt he might suffocate.
His heart raced; his breathing became difficult. He felt the blood in his body boiling, generating waves of heat that made his entire being feel scorched. The scent was coming from the “Low-Ability Bug” in front of him. Sangis was absolutely certain of this.
What he found even harder to accept was that his body and his consciousness were becoming addicted to this scent, obsessed beyond reason. His sharp, cat-like eyes lost focus for a moment. Almost instinctively, he murmured in a daze.
“Master.”
The word escaped his throat in a whisper, so faint that no one but himself heard it. Yet, Sangis turned even redder with shame. His heart belonged only to Her Majesty the Queen. Why was he being bewitched by this Low-Ability Bug?!
He looked the big man up and down. …I’ve never seen any Charm-type Zerg that looks like this.
Endure it. He couldn’t let himself be seduced further. His body and his spirit belonged to Her Majesty. He had to remain pure for the Queen and not be defiled by this strange, charming Zerg!
His hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into fists. Sangis bit his lips hard, a watery glisten appearing in the depths of his emerald eyes. He stubbornly refused to say another word.
Su Lili turned back to Zephyros. The man, as silent and reliable as a star, watched their interaction with a calm expression.
Seeing her return, he asked gently, “Your Majesty, should we take him back to the bedroom?”
Zephyros had already reasoned it out: whoever Her Majesty was interested in, liked, or wanted to favor was entirely her freedom. This Zerg in front of them might have a foul mouth and a bad temper, but he was young and had a strong physique. His looks were decent, and there wasn’t currently this “type” around the King in the Temple. If the King liked him, she should take him back.
Every Queen had more than one attendant. He never thought about monopolizing Her Majesty; he only hoped that in her heart, she might favor him a little more. Besides, this bug hadn’t left a good impression on her; even if she took him back, he likely wouldn’t receive much affection. By asking proactively, Zephyros appeared magnanimous.
“No need.” Su Lili shook her head.
They were out in disguise today. Her bet with Sangis wasn’t because she actually wanted a servant; she was just annoyed by his arrogant attitude. Furthermore, he was a card she needed to “conquer” in the future. If she told him the truth now, it would be awkward to interact with her real identity later. It was better to keep her “vest” on.
“Hey.” A clear, youthful voice came from beside her. Sangis had actually followed them. Meeting her gaze, the boy looked away, his eyes wandering. “Now… where are we going?”
He looked like he was truly prepared to be a manservant for a day. Su Lili was momentarily speechless. Where could she go? It was getting late, and she was planning to return to the palace. …But she couldn’t say that.
In the busy shop, the onlookers formed a circle. In the center, three Zerg stood face-to-face. Two “big men” looked serious and expressionless—the “celebrities” of this commercial street whose intimate interactions had been killing the mood for everyone else. The other was a beautiful boy with green eyes like a kitten, his ears red and his cheeks still flushed pink.
A new onlooker squeezed in, not knowing the context. Looking at the scene, they asked, “Are they confronting a cheater?”
When he didn’t get an answer for a long time, Sangis knitted his brows, his tone turning sharp again. “Why aren’t you saying anything?”
“…” Su Lili glanced at him. “How about we just forget it?”
“?” The furrow between his brows deepened, knotting tightly. His exquisite features darkened. For some inexplicable reason, Sangis’s first reaction was a sense of reluctance.
Once he realized this, a surge of anger rose in his heart. Like a discarded husband, he spoke up furiously, “What do you mean? Are you playing with me?”
“No.” Su Lili hadn’t expected such a big reaction. Logically, shouldn’t he be happy he didn’t have to be a servant? Why was he angrier? She had to find an excuse. “I don’t need a servant with such a bad temper. You won’t be a good manservant, so let’s just forget it.”
“No!” Sangis disagreed.
The youth looked indignant, his vibrant eyes bright with anger. He shot a hateful glance at Zephyros behind her. This guy has been by her side the whole time; is he her servant too? He doesn’t look like anything special. If this guy can do it, why can’t I?
“Who says I can’t? A bet is a bet. I said I’d do it, so I will.”
“…” Help, why is someone so desperate to be a manservant? There were no conditions to let him do it right now. Su Lili thought for a moment and said, “How about this. You go back for the next two days and learn how to be an excellent manservant. Two days from now, come and fulfill the bet. Is that okay?”
“Two days from now? Isn’t that the day of the Royal Guard selection?” Sangis hesitated. He was supposed to compete. While he had to fulfill the bet to this charming Zerg, the Queen was ultimately more important.
“Mhm,” Su Lili replied. “It won’t interfere with your competition. After the selection is over, our bet begins. How about that?”
Sangis lowered his gaze and thought for a moment. “Fine.” He held out his Star-Brain. “Let’s add each other’s contact info first.”
…
That night. The moonlight was soft, and the floating light was gentle. A cool evening breeze brushed through their intertwined hair. Zephyros, as usual, carried the young King back to the bedroom. They landed on the windowsill, where floral shadows flickered.
The faint scent of flowers filled the air. Su Lili turned to walk into the room, but when she looked back, she found the man still standing there.
“Is there something else?” Su Lili asked, looking up.
They had already removed their disguises. The pale moonlight shone on her white face, covering her in a hazy glow of otherworldly beauty. In those dark eyes as deep as the universe, the stars twinkled. Her gaze was pure and innocent, like an elf fallen into the mortal world.
Zephyros’s gaze lingered there, then slid down to her crimson lips. It took him a long time to regain his senses. Quietly lowering his head, he respectfully dropped to one knee and bowed, his broad bone wings pressed neatly behind his back.
He looked up, his sharp golden eyes dark and locked onto the girl in front of him. His tone was ordinary and sincere, yet his words were blunt and intense.
“Your Majesty, do you require me to attend your bed tonight?”
