The Omega Becomes The Zerg Queen - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Courtship?
Aside from wilderness team battles, pure mecha duels usually banned the use of external weapons, requiring players to rely on their own combat instincts and micro-management of the mecha to win.
On the vast green field, the Black Panther leaped up, its cold, shimmering fangs lunging directly for the Jade Cat’s throat.
“Look, the Black Panther is attacking!” “Will the Jade Cat defend?” “It has to. The Black Panther isn’t SSS-class, but it’s an SS-class mecha. If that bite lands, the Jade Cat’s outer shell won’t be enough to hold it back.”
Inside the cockpit, Su Lili was even more anxious. Her mental energy was running at maximum capacity, and a thin layer of sweat broke out on her skin, carrying that dense, sweet fragrance with it.
In a flash of lightning, the heavy weight pressing down on her suddenly lightened. She felt her mental tentacles link firmly with the Jade Cat’s joints, becoming increasingly harmonious.
“I can move!” the Jade Cat exclaimed happily.
On the live broadcast screen, the long-dormant Jade Cat finally made its first move, standing up from the grass—though it looked a bit clumsy, like a newborn kitten just learning to control its limbs.
Unfortunately, it was a bit late. The Black Panther’s attack was inches away. If she turned to flee now, she would only expose her back to its strike.
In her desperation, Su Lili chose to attack.
The white porcelain-like Jade Cat swung its claws, meeting the Black Panther head-on. The sharp cat claws scraped against the Panther’s face, erupting in intense sparks.
“The Black Panther is injured!” a cry went up among the spectators. They were full of praise for the Jade Cat. “The Black Panther usually kills in one hit; it hasn’t been hurt in ages!” “The pilot of that Jade Cat definitely has some skill. Was that clumsy movement earlier just a trick to lure the enemy in?”
After the brief exchange, the two mechas stood facing each other from a distance.
“?” Su Lili was confused. The Jade Cat tilted its head in a very lifelike, feline way. She felt that the Black Panther didn’t actually want to hurt her. Those sharp canines had slowed down significantly as they approached her; otherwise, she would never have had the chance to counter-attack.
“…”
The mecha Black Panther let out a lazy yawn. Its golden beast-like pupils flickered as it began to pace slowly toward her.
Inside the pitch-black cockpit, a shirtless man stretched his limbs. Black-and-gold panther tattoos flickered among a network of battle scars across his body, rippling alongside his powerful back muscles. He gave a low, rakish chuckle.
“You scared her, Black Panther.” “My apologies, Master,” a slightly dull mechanical voice replied. “But as the mecha’s AI, I must remind you that the one controlling the mecha has always been you.”
The tall panther mecha approached. Even without showing hostile intent, it carried an immense pressure. Su Lili held her breath, watching cautiously through the gold-and-green heterochromatic eyes of her mecha.
The Jade Cat pressed its front paws down, arching its back, and let out a low, “Wooo,” growl. It was trying to be fierce, but it looked incredibly cute.
In the other cockpit, the man licked his teeth. The Black Panther mecha flicked its tail restlessly. It smelled so good. Ever since he got close, he had smelled it—that seductive, sweet fragrance pouring out from inside the Jade Cat.
Even a man who lived on a knife’s edge felt his focus waver because of that scent, which was how the “kitten” managed to scratch him. Otherwise, given her rookie reaction speed, she wouldn’t have even touched a whisker of his.
Now that there was some distance, that relaxing, wonderful scent had faded. The notoriously domineering and unreasonable man didn’t have much patience left. The Black Panther blurred and vanished from the Jade Cat’s sight.
There were no obstacles on the field, and extra gear was banned. The Panther’s “disappearance” was purely due to the pilot’s god-like micro-management. With perfect synchronization, the mecha moved faster than the human eye could track.
High mental power allowed Su Lili to sense the Panther’s path, but her synchronization with the Jade Cat wasn’t high enough. Even if she saw him coming, following the movements was difficult. In a heartbeat, the Panther was pressed against the Jade Cat’s side.
A strange, aggressive aura washed over her. Su Lili’s skin crawled as the Jade Cat bared its teeth. The Black Panther swung a broad front paw, pinning the Jade Cat’s head down.
“I can’t get away!” Su Lili wailed. Though the Panther looked relaxed, it had blocked every possible escape route.
“Don’t give up, Master, let’s find another chance,” the Jade Cat comforted her.
On the green field, the massive jet-black panther mecha pinned the smaller jade-colored cat mecha under its paws. The huge panther head leaned down toward the cat’s nape. The players in the chat began to write the match off.
“It’s over, the Cat is caught.” “I’ve seen this before. Nine times out of ten, the Panther bites the neck for a one-hit kill.” “Poor Jade Cat. But losing to ‘Xing’ isn’t a disgrace. I hope to see more of them.”
But then, something unexpected happened. The “finishing move” never came. The Black Panther lowered its head and began rubbing its nose against the Jade Cat’s neck. From a bystander’s perspective, its head was buried in the cat’s fur. Even the cold, expressionless mechanical panther head seemed to radiate a sense of intoxication and delight.
Up close, it smelled even better. The sweet, charming scent hit him like a soft piece of cake. Amidst the relaxation, the man in the cockpit felt a strange heat rising.
“?” “? What is it doing?” “Is this the legendary… huffing the cat?” “Damn, I want to huff it too. The Jade Cat looks so soft and fragrant.” “You want to huff an SSS-class mecha? Look in a mirror and see if you have the strength.”
The contact of the metal brought a cold itch. Su Lili shrunk her neck back. Under the Panther’s paws, the Jade Cat squirmed, trying to flee.
Seeing the “sweet little cake” trying to escape, the Black Panther narrowed its eyes. Its thick tail lashed against the ground with a loud thwack, showing its displeasure. There was a faint hint of greenness in the thick, sweet scent—the one in his arms was still a cub.
It opened its mouth, catching the Jade Cat’s nape with its sharp canines, rubbing slowly and then nipping playfully. It wanted to show its dominance, but it was afraid of scaring the timid cub, so it chose this method.
The feeling of being locked down by an apex predator made Su Lili’s spine go cold. Her body tensed, and the Jade Cat stopped moving.
Sensing the cub beneath him had quieted down, the man in the cockpit narrowed his eyes, a flash of satisfaction in his gaze. The Black Panther mecha let out a loud, rumbling purr, pressing its entire body against the Jade Cat, sniffing deeper and deeper.
The scene became quite ambiguous. In the live stream, players began to whisper.
“Is my mind too filthy, or does this not look like huffing a cat… it looks like…” “It looks like heat. Or rather, courtship.” “I saw this on a nature documentary. Spring is here, the season of rebirth…” “I’m just saying, this is a bit too much. I’ve never seen a match with ‘Xing’ go like this.”
The sweet scent grew even heavier. The air in the cockpit felt stagnant, the temperature rising toward a boiling point. The man’s breath became scorched and heavy, and even the surface of the mecha seemed to grow damp and hot. A drop of sweat fell from his sharp jaw, sliding down his muscles. He clenched his fists, his muscles bulging, wanting to grab onto something.
Usually alert, “Xing” had lost his focus for a moment. The Black Panther froze, pressed against the Cat.
“My chance!” Su Lili’s eyes lit up.
Currently, the Panther had her pinned down, but its soft belly was open to her, and its throat was exposed—a completely defenseless posture. While he was distracted, it was the perfect time for a counter-attack.
In the cockpit, the girl’s eyes were bright and focused. She put everything into controlling the Jade Cat. The white paws moved, and the Jade Cat whipped its head around. Its sharp canines bit down unexpectedly into the Panther’s throat.
“I did it!” Su Lili cheered, her face flushing with excitement.
The materials used for an SSS mecha were top-tier, especially for offensive parts like fangs. When the teeth met the throat, a tooth-grinding screech of metal echoed, and the resulting sparks were blinding.
“Look, the Jade Cat fought back!” “That was a vicious bite.” “I’m telling you, this is a serious match. You people with dirty minds need to go wash your brains.” “The Panther was playing with its prey and got hurt. But one bite won’t do much. If ‘Xing’ gets serious, the Cat is no match.”
“Ugh.” In the cockpit, the man let out a muffled groan. His brow furrowed deeply, and his body tensed even further. The pilot and the mecha were sensory-linked. Those sharp fangs felt like the girl’s own teeth grinding against his Adam’s apple.
It was painful and itchy—and a little bit pleasurable.
A burst of mental fireworks went off in his head, his already high emotions reaching a peak. He licked his lips, wanting more.
On the field, the Jade Cat had seized the moment to escape the Panther’s grasp. It crouched a short distance away, its gold-and-green gem-like eyes unblinking as it watched its enemy warily. Two narrow holes had been bitten into the Panther’s mechanical throat, revealing the complex wiring and parts within. The bite had definitely left a mark.
Outside the screen, players were eager to see how the Black Panther would retaliate. While the Jade Cat was legendary, “Xing’s” mysterious record and god-like skills were an undefeated myth in the hearts of all pilots. They expected a swift, beautiful kill.
But the Black Panther didn’t attack. It bared its teeth, its dark-gold beast eyes glancing at the Cat. Then, it tilted its head, completely exposing the wound on its throat.
“What is he doing?” Su Lili was full of questions.
The Jade Cat tilted its own head, its paws stepping nervously on the grass. She couldn’t win. She really couldn’t win. Should she… surrender? That one bite was already more than she expected. If she continued, she’d just be humiliated again—she didn’t want to be pinned down and “petted” anymore!
On the grass, the powerful, beautiful Black Panther walked toward her. A lazy male voice came from the opposite mecha. It was deep, slightly raspy, carrying the careless aggression of someone forged in war and smoke.
“Kitten… want another bite?”
