The Omega Becomes The Zerg Queen - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Outside the Door
“In that case.”
Fula walked slowly to the side of the iron cage and clapped his hands. The cage containing the exotic beast slowly descended into the ground, just as it had appeared.
His voice drifted from afar, “I look forward to our next meeting, Your Majesty.”
“There won’t be a next time.”
Having exhausted her physical strength, Su Lili had no energy left. She leaned against the metal wall, eyelids drooping as she watched him depart.
Once Fula and the cage vanished, the incandescent lights in the training room flickered out. The room was a fully enclosed metal chamber; without the overhead lights, there were no other light sources.
Now, the room plunged into a deathly silence and darkness, so quiet that only the girl’s faint breathing could be heard.
Su Lili lifted her eyelids to check the system panel.
D-grade Spiritual Power Remaining: 5%…
The good news was that despite the dangerously low level, she hadn’t fallen unconscious yet. The bad news was that with her spiritual power nearly depleted, her suppression over her pheromones had vanished.
Her long-repressed glands seemed to retaliate, turning scorchingly hot and incessantly releasing pheromones, as if expressing their resentment at being neglected. In the vast, sealed room, the air gradually filled with a sweet, floral scent.
Leaning limply against the wall, Su Lili tilted her head back slightly. Her delicate neck brushed against the freezing metal wall, causing a wave of goosebumps. She knitted her brows; she couldn’t just sit here and wait for death.
Her current state would attract a lot of trouble; it was truly unsuitable for her to be seen by too many people. She wondered if the signal she sent earlier had worked. Who was the “uninvited guest” Fula had mentioned?
BOOM— BOOM—
Violent impacts echoed from outside the secret chamber. The massive tremors caused the metal walls to shudder.
Someone was here.
“Who is it?”
After a few light coughs, Su Lili tilted her chin up and called out. Unlike her usual voice, the Queen’s tone was now noticeably weak and unusual.
Zephyrus’s heart tightened instantly. His mind went blank, and he could barely catch his breath.
He replied with a trembling voice, “It is I, Zephyrus.”
Worry and anxiety for the Queen occupied his entire consciousness. He had lost the ability to think rationally and could only rely on his most primal instincts. Without stopping, he threw punch after punch with immense force against the door. Fula had clearly come prepared; the door to the secret room was exceptionally tough. Even though Zephyrus’s constitution was among the strongest of the Zerg, he couldn’t break through immediately.
His knuckles struck the hardened metal until the skin broke and the flesh became a bloody mess. The man outside seemed oblivious to the pain, putting his full strength into every strike against the metal door.
He only asked anxiously: “Are you alright, Your Majesty?”
Thank goodness, it’s Zephyrus. Su Lili breathed a sigh of relief.
Among the few Zerg she knew well, Zephyrus was always the most trustworthy in her heart. He was neither as sensitive as Lucius nor as rebellious as Ferran. The tall man spoke little, but he was always silent and steadfast by her side, providing an infinite sense of security.
“I’m fine.”
She lifted her chin, her high ponytail dragging against the wall in scattered strands. Her blurred consciousness was jolted back by the cold, hard wall. She recalled that there should have been a door when she first entered.
“To the left of the wall, I remember there was a door.”
“Try to find the seam.”
The violent pounding stopped abruptly. Soon, a response came from outside.
“I found it, Your Majesty.”
A slender blade pierced through the door seam, slicing through the gap at high speed. The intense friction sent sparks flying. Zephyrus used brute force to wrench the door open along the crack.
The stagnant air in the secret room suddenly began to circulate. Even through the tiniest crack, the dense, sweet fragrance began to seep out. The sugary aroma of pheromones was startlingly obvious in the heavy air that was otherwise tinged with the smell of blood.
The accumulated sweetness was much thicker than before, and its effect was naturally more startling.
Outside, Zephyrus was initially just drawn to the scent. He tried to sniff it with restraint, but before he knew it, he was pressed against the door seam. His Adam’s apple bobbed as his high-bridged nose pressed tight against the crack, greedily inhaling. Even his usually arrogant and domineering bone-wings were pressed firmly over the gap, trying to monopolize the girl’s pheromones.
The sealed door had been cut open; the person outside only had to push to enter. Su Lili quickly said, “Zephyrus, do not come in yet.”
This time, the man did not respond immediately.
After a long pause, a deep “Understood” came from outside—a voice so low and muffled it felt as if it had traveled through deep water. Feeling that such a simple reply was too brief for the Queen, he added between breaths: “As you command, Your Majesty.”
His raspy voice sounded as if it had been ground by sandpaper, incredibly hoarse.
Zephyrus leaned against the door and stopped moving. His strength and size were immense; he could push the iron door open with one hand, but he didn’t. The Queen’s feather-light command could trap him in place, making the tyrannical dragon willingly wear his collar and chains.
However, the threads of sweet pheromones continuously drilled into his nose and body, making him feel feverishly hot, as if he were about to burst. His features were sharply defined—a wild and fierce look—though he usually restrained himself to appear calm and steady before the Queen.
But now, separated from the Queen by a single door and fueled by intense emotion, Zephyrus had no heart to manage his expressions. An air of suppressed endurance lingered between his sharp brows. Even his dark skin couldn’t hide the flush on his face and ears. His gaze was fierce, and his golden pupils were clouded with a moist mist and heavy possessiveness; his greedy, excited expression looked as though he might crush an enemy’s throat in the next second.
He felt no pain from his blood-soaked hands. Instead, the wounds on his knuckles brought an infinite itch that traveled through his veins to his entire body. Pressed against the door, he couldn’t help but rub against it obsessively. The cold metal provided a slight reprieve from his restless itching. Zephyrus narrowed his eyes, his breathing growing heavier, a few groans escaping his throat.
Imagining only a wall separated him from the King, his movements slowly became more unrestrained and larger in scale.
Inside the door, Su Lili’s thoughts were racing. In her current state, Zephyrus shouldn’t come in, but things couldn’t stay like this forever. She had to get out. She had to leave while her spiritual power was stable. To suppress these troublesome pheromones, her only option was to increase her spiritual power usage.
And right now, there was only one way to do that.
Su Lili rubbed the ring at the base of her finger and called out to the door: “Bring Ferran here. I need his Honey Brewing.”
The Queen’s command pierced through Zephyrus’s muddled brain, calling back his remaining sanity. His eyes flickered, and his heart swelled with a dull ache.
Ferran. Ferran again.
Damned Bee-type.
Simply because of a honey chamber, he was so necessary to the Queen. The man’s groggy mind twisted as he couldn’t help but think: If I carved out his honey chamber and installed it on myself, would that work? Then, would he be the one brewing honey for the Queen? Would he be the one allowed to enter this room right now?
What was inside the room? What did the King look like in there?
“Zephyrus, are you still there?”
When there was no immediate response, Su Lili couldn’t help but prompt him further. “And, don’t tell him the truth yet.”
The wonderful fantasies in his mind reached a peak when the King called his name. Zephyrus arched his back, his bone-wings curling into a ball. After a deep breath, he ground his teeth: “I will see to it immediately, Your Majesty.”
Without any delay, Ferran arrived at the location quickly.
Outside the battered training room, his former comrade—the “Blade of the Zerg,” Commander of the Second Legion, and the dream of countless females—was pressed tightly against the door. His massive bone-wings dutifully covered the door seams, leaving no gap. The posture looked somewhat undignified.
Ferran frowned. The irritation in his eyes turned into boundless murderous intent when he saw the man’s disheveled combat suit.
His voice was cold as a demon’s: “What did you do, Zephyrus?”
“The King is inside.” Zephyrus glanced at him sideways without further expression. He raised his voice and shouted toward the door, “My King, Ferran has arrived.”
“My King~” Ferran called out sweetly, while eyeing the surroundings with suspicion. What is going on? This place is remote; why would the King be here?
Inside the pitch-black secret room, the rich, seductive sweetness was as dense as lingering smoke. The girl sitting against the wall was pale, her face flushed with a sickly glow, and the side of her neck was startlingly hot.
Ferran had arrived.
On the system panel, his loyalty was still only at two stars. If it weren’t for his Honey Brewing to restore her spiritual power, she truly wouldn’t want to summon him in such a state. This rebellious wild dog knew how to act; he was obedient on the surface but might bite back at any moment.
He must not sense her weakness. Otherwise, this wild dog might take advantage of his master’s vulnerability to strike.
Su Lili braced herself and pulled her energy together. She tried her best to maintain her usual tone.
“Hello, Ferran.”
Ferran pressed, “My King, why have you summoned me?” His concern was unconcealed. “Why are you in such a place? Was there an accident?”
“What are you thinking, Ferran?” The Queen’s cold voice came from inside, uncharacteristically tinged with a hint of anger. “Are you trying to curse me?”
“I wouldn’t dare, Your Majesty.” Outside, even though he knew the King couldn’t see him, Ferran lowered his head in fear, his shoulders trembling as if he were truly frightened. “I am merely concerned for your health.”
“Hmph.” The King let out a contemptuous snort. She explained impatiently, “What was prepared in this secret room today is a punishment for your insubordination last night. If you can pass…”
The way to tame a vicious dog was nothing more than the carrot and the stick. While waiting for Ferran, Su Lili had already formulated a plan for when he entered. She paused deliberately, her tone rising enticingly.
“Then I will give you… a reward.”
A reward?!
The two men outside stopped breathing, their bodies tensing. Zephyrus’s golden eyes pierced his former comrade like knives, and he ground his teeth. Does he even deserve it?
“A reward? I will certainly work hard to complete it.” Ferran’s voice was so syrupy it could practically squeeze out honey. “What is the reward, Your Majesty?”
