The Movie Queen's Virtual Little Girlfriend - Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Plans
Then, she would go take a look—look at what exactly was on this “to-do list” Jiang Er had just finished compiling.
While they couldn’t actually accomplish any of the things Jiang Er listed together, getting a glimpse into the little inner workings of this person called Jiang Er wasn’t difficult; it was just a matter of tapping the screen twice.
Jiang Yitong thought to herself, knowing full well that this was just an excuse to get herself to click through.
If she hadn’t felt any curiosity at all, she never would have clicked, even if it only took a few taps and less than ten seconds of her time. To her, that would just be wasting her life.
She never did things like that.
But now, perhaps she was truly a little curious.
If she were to list the things she wanted to accomplish this year herself, it would probably look like this:
-
Finish filming TV series “xxxx”
-
Finish filming TV series “xx”
-
Finish filming movie “xxx”
That was basically it.
Of course, there would be other obligations like filming commercials, giving interviews, attending ceremonies, and the like but these didn’t need to appear on her list. The most important thing, naturally, was completing the filming of her dramas and movies.
She suddenly remembered what Feng Man had once asked: “You almost have no life of your own, you go seamlessly from one set to the next, almost never giving yourself time off. Your longest ‘recharge’ time never exceeds a week. Don’t you ever feel bored?”
At the time, she had only replied coolly: “Acting is my life. There’s no ‘bored’ or ‘not bored’ about it.”
Facing Feng Man’s inquiries, that was always how she answered.
Sometimes Feng Man would fall silent, other times, she couldn’t help but say a few more words.
“Jiang Yitong, you always push yourself so hard. Sometimes, please leave a little space for yourself. There are many beautiful scenes and things in this world waiting for you to discover. Don’t wait until later to regret why you didn’t slow your pace at such a good age, to look at the blue sky, to look at the vast sea.”
Sometimes Jiang Yitong felt that Feng Man was very different from the agents of other actors. Most agents wanted their artists to push their careers as much as possible, but Feng Man wanted her to slow down.
In her early twenties, it was the best time to strive for her ideals; at that time, she couldn’t slow down. Now, having stepped into her thirties, it was the age when she should continue to persist in her passion, making her even less able to stop and admire any blue sky or vast sea.
On this matter, she and Feng Man were always at odds. She herself was fine, rebutting slowly and deliberately while the latter was repeatedly angered by her.
They both had their points; it just depended on whose temperament was more volatile.
But at this moment, Jiang Yitong’s hand had already fallen, and the phone screen transitioned to the familiar game loading interface.
As she expected, in the first second of entering the game, Jiang Er’s magnified face appeared before her eyes again.
“Yitong, you’re here! I was still perfecting my plan, I just discovered I left one item out, so I had to quickly add it.”
This time, the angle of the camera facing Jiang Er was a low-angle shot. She was looking down, seemingly not yet prepared for a “video call” face-to-face with Jiang Yitong, her hands busy with something.
This sense of reality, being connected in such an unexpected way, was truly well-executed—so real that one couldn’t find a single flaw.
Jiang Yitong stayed silent for a few seconds, waiting for the person on screen to finish tidying up.
A hand suddenly reached forward, fingertips brushing the lens, turning into a blur before quickly disappearing.
Immediately after, the camera was lifted and set down somewhere else. Jiang Er’s upper body was now positioned squarely, revealing a pale yellow wall behind her. She was sitting in a chair with a black backrest that reached her shoulders.
Jiang Yitong had seen this scene a few times before, it was Jiang Er’s teacher’s office in the kindergarten.
“My plan for this year is done! I think it’s quite complete. Do you want to see it, Yitong? Help me see if there’s anything else I can add. If I think of more later, I’ll just add them on; after all, the year has only just begun.”
Jiang Yitong coolly typed one word: Good.
After the message was sent, she saw Jiang Er grow even more delighted because of this reaction, which revealed no emotion, the dimples at the corners of her mouth deepening and expanding.
The image quality was clear. Jiang Yitong’s gaze drifted downward involuntarily, lingering for two seconds on the dimple at the side of her cheek before moving to her slightly upturned lips.
She pursed her lips slightly; perhaps because of lip balm, they looked moisturized and tender.
Jiang Yitong saw her move quickly, picking up an A4-sized piece of paper from the desk, turning the side covered in writing toward the camera to show her.
This was different from what Jiang Yitong had imagined. She had initially thought that when she agreed to see this plan, a picture or a file would pop up for her to view, just like opening various documents or tables on WeChat.
She hadn’t expected the way to view it would be Jiang Er holding a handwritten piece of paper up to the camera.
“Version 1.0 of things to accomplish together with Yitong this year”
That was the title Jiang Er had written at the very top.
The first thing Jiang Yitong noticed was the small “1.0” note at the end, which inexplicably made her feel a sense of playfulness.
Then, there was Jiang Er’s handwriting.
Jiang Er’s handwriting was very beautiful—neat and delicate, just as elegant and upright as she was.
The paper was held very steadily by Jiang Er. Her hand didn’t seem to shake at all, and every character on the paper fell clearly and completely into Jiang Yitong’s view.
Jiang Yitong was observant. Her long, narrow eyes stared persistently at Jiang Er’s hand, and she noticed that the hand gripping the edge of the paper was actually trembling slightly.
For a game to achieve this level of detail, it was no wonder that even someone as cold as Jiang Yitong couldn’t help but marvel at the brilliance of the game company.
Ignoring that detail for a moment, Jiang Yitong continued reading.
On the version 1.0 plan, Jiang Er had written down a total of six things. She didn’t just write what to do; she also wrote down her inner thoughts, as if annotating for herself.
Item 1: Meet Yitong. Whether it’s in your city or mine, or somewhere else entirely, as long as we can meet, wherever we are will be the best location.
Item 2: Watch the sunrise and sunset at the seaside with Yitong. Any sea will do. I’ve never seen the sea before. I hope I can watch the sea and feel the sea breeze with Yitong this year. It would be best if we could catch the sunrise and sunset too. Watching it at the seaside must be especially beautiful, right?
Item 3: Go to a music festival or a concert with Yitong. The atmosphere at a music festival must be wonderful. There are some bands I’m fond of, and I want to go to the scene to feel their charm. I want to see Jiang Wanyou’s concert; she should have a tour plan this year. I want Yitong to accompany me. Tickets will probably be hard to get, but I’ll try my best when the time comes.
When she saw the words “watch the sea,” the sentence Feng Man had once said drilled into Jiang Yitong’s ears once more.
She still didn’t have the slightest urge to see the sea, yet Jiang Er wanted to.
Of course, Jiang Er’s plans were just something to look at; there was no need to take them seriously.
Item 4: Jiang Er wanted to go to an amusement park with Jiang Yitong, satisfying a little dream she had left unfulfilled as a child.
Item 5: Go hiking with Jiang Yitong, climbing to the top of a high mountain to overlook the landscape and feel the vast beauty of the lush greenery.
As for the sixth item, Jiang Yitong hadn’t forgotten what Jiang Er said earlier; this final item was the one she had added later.
Item 6: I want to find a quiet place with Yitong. A park is a good choice. I want us to sit stably on a bench by the lake for a whole day, just chatting. I want to hear her express herself more to me.
After reading the final period on the list, Jiang Yitong’s once calm heart had an inexplicable flutter, sinking for no reason.
Express… express what? And what is there to express to Jiang Er?
She didn’t even express her inner thoughts to her closest person, Feng Man; how could she possibly pour her heart out to Jiang Er?
Jiang Yitong: It’s New Year’s Day today; do you still have to go to class?
Having finished browsing the list and having no intention to discuss it with Jiang Er, she suddenly changed the subject.
She had only accidentally remembered what day it was—New Year’s Day, a day when schools should be closed. Connecting it to Jiang Er’s current location, she asked a simple question.
Jiang Er shook her head gently. “No. The children are on holiday, but I can’t slack off. I need to decorate the classroom and make the game props we’ll all be using later.”
Jiang Yitong: Are you tired?
Jiang Er answered with a smile: “Not tired at all! How could I be tired doing what I love? Besides, although we aren’t in the same city, I know we are actually always together. You have always been by my side.”
“With you there, how could I be tired?”
Her tone while speaking made every word seem to leap and dance, carrying an incomparably sincere power sufficient to make anyone believe every word she said.
Jiang Yitong didn’t respond for a moment, simply watching the person on the screen who was always smiling, feeling a bit dazed for a moment.
