The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 24
Mu Qing’s answer was proper and well-measured, leaving Feng Xi with no room to criticize. It sounded reasonable, yet something felt off.
The return trip took about forty minutes. After the incident with Le Xiaoxiao, the director kept thinking about how to adjust the upcoming filming schedule, constantly communicating with the person in charge of the program.
Because Mu Qing had offered her transportation to help Le Xiaoxiao, she ended up riding back in the program team’s vehicle with Feng Xi, sitting right next to her in the back seat.
Perhaps due to Le Xiaoxiao’s accident, the atmosphere in the car was rather tense. The silence was broken when Mu Qing received a phone call.
“Hello, it’s me,” Mu Qing answered the call from Chen Ning.
“Okay, I understand. Handle things over there,” Mu Qing adjusted her posture slightly. “If the doctor allows it, then go ahead and arrange it. But change the outdoor setting to indoors. The place we’re staying is quite spacious.”
With Chen Ning’s concise report, Mu Qing ended the call in less than three minutes.
“President Mu, how’s Xiaoxiao doing?” Xu Leran asked nervously.
Mu Qing put her phone back in her pocket and calmly replied, “It’s a sprain, no bone damage. With proper immobilization and rest, she’ll recover.”
“That’s a relief,” Xu Leran sighed.
“By the way, Xiaoxiao said you were originally planning to have hotpot tonight. She doesn’t want her situation to affect your plans,” Mu Qing added.
“She’s not joining us then?” Shao Qiushuang asked. “It won’t feel complete without her.”
Mu Qing shook her head. “No, she said even if she has to be in a wheelchair, she’ll come back.”
“…” Shao Qiushuang was speechless. “I take back what I said.”
“If she’s in a wheelchair, some places might be inconvenient,” Xu Leran said with concern. “If it’s crowded, it could be difficult.”
“True,” Mu Qing agreed. “So Xiaoxiao wants to book an entire hotpot restaurant. Without other customers, the crowd won’t be a problem.”
This time, it was Xu Leran who was speechless. Indeed, the actions of wealthy people are beyond imagination.
“I don’t think booking the whole place is ideal,” Mu Qing continued. “The restaurant she chose is a bit far and in the city center. Booking it would be too wasteful.”
“So?” Feng Xi didn’t believe Mu Qing would compromise over money.
“Instead, it’s more cost-effective to have them deliver everything and set up at our place. The tools and ingredients will be handled by professionals,” Mu Qing explained naturally. “This way, we spend less than half the money and save nearly an hour of time.”
Well played.
With all the setup, Feng Xi wasn’t surprised by Mu Qing’s move.
As night fell, Mu Qing arrived at the lodging with the program team. Once the hotpot staff were in place, Le Xiaoxiao was wheeled in by Chen Ning.
The usual greetings were exchanged, and the seven of them quickly sat around the table, waiting for the chef to prepare the ingredients.
Hotpot restaurants in Northern Europe are usually run by overseas Chinese. Upon learning that Le Xiaoxiao and the others were celebrities from China, the restaurant sent a Chinese chef and even offered a discount as a promotional gesture.
To be fair, the cost of this door-to-door service wasn’t cheap, but the director calculated it and found it worthwhile, so he agreed.
To cater to different tastes, the hotpot was a dual-flavor pot: mushroom broth and spicy beef oil.
Mu Qing sat next to Feng Xi as usual. Su Xiu hesitated for a moment, and Shao Qiushuang quickly took the other seat, leaving Su Xiu to sit beside her.
“Thank you, President Mu,” Le Xiaoxiao raised her glass of cola. “This one’s for you.”
Mu Qing raised her own glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. “You’re welcome.”
“Leran, thank you too. If you hadn’t pulled me, I might’ve ended up in the hospital,” Le Xiaoxiao raised her glass again. “I’ll drink this one.”
After gulping down half the cola, she covered her mouth and burped.
Xu Leran smiled helplessly. “You should sip cola slowly. I’ll just stick with Sprite.”
Hotpot is all about the vibe. Every time the chef brought a dish, Chen Ning would pass it around, and each of the seven would take a bite.
“President Mu, we’re heading to New York tomorrow. Are you coming with us?” Shao Qiushuang asked after they were full. She guessed Mu Qing would follow Feng Xi.
“You’re going to New York?” Mu Qing was surprised. That wasn’t the original plan.
“Yeah, the director just told me. We were supposed to go skiing, but he changed it to a three-day New York trip due to safety concerns,” Shao Qiushuang explained.
“If it’s New York, I’ll go. I have some business to handle there,” Mu Qing replied.
Mu Qing’s company had assets split between domestic and international markets. She personally held shares in several funds, using them to acquire stakes in other companies. Going to New York meant she could sign some agreements and make additional investments.
“So you’re going for work and tagging along with us?” Shao Qiushuang said knowingly. She had guessed it—Mu Qing was going all in to pursue Feng Xi.
“No,” Mu Qing shook her head. “I’m going to accompany Feng Xi for filming, and handle some work on the side.”
These few days were cleared for Feng Xi. Pursuing her was Mu Qing’s main goal. Work was secondary.
As Mu Qing spoke, Feng Xi was sipping juice and nearly choked. She coughed twice before recovering.
Mu Qing immediately looked at her with concern. Seeing Feng Xi’s spicy dipping sauce, she frowned.
“You shouldn’t eat spicy food,” Mu Qing stated, not asking for Feng Xi’s opinion. She replaced the sauce and made a non-spicy one for her.
Feng Xi blinked. Should she explain that she wasn’t choking on the spice, and she was drinking juice?
“Mu Qing, actually…” Feng Xi tried to explain. A little spice is perfect for hotpot.
“I understand. I’ll make it up to you with another hotpot meal in ten days. You can choose the place,” Mu Qing said, filling in the blanks herself.
“…” Feng Xi hesitated and swallowed her words. To be fair, Mu Qing’s sauce was pretty good.
After dinner, Shao Qiushuang suggested playing games again.
“There are seven of us. ‘Who’s the Spy’ or ‘Truth or Dare’ would be fun,” she said, eyes sparkling.
“President Mu, which do you prefer?” she asked, knowing that if Mu Qing agreed, the game was on.
Mu Qing raised an eyebrow. “If it’s ‘Truth or Dare,’ do you have to answer every question truthfully?”
“Yes,” Shao Qiushuang said, feeling her chances of success rise. “If you refuse, the asker can give you a challenge instead.”
Mu Qing nodded and turned to Feng Xi with a smile. “Then let’s play ‘Truth or Dare.’”
Seeing the spark in Mu Qing’s eyes, Feng Xi felt a faint sense of danger. She had a feeling she was about to fall into a trap.
The rules were the same as last time: roll three dice. Highest score wins, lowest loses.
First round, Shao Qiushuang let Mu Qing go first. “Good luck, President Mu.”
Mu Qing checked the dice, then shook them. She wasn’t familiar with these games and had no experience rolling dice.
But fate favors the beautiful. Mu Qing rolled a number that made everyone gasp.
“Wow, Mu Qing, I don’t know what to say. You must be naturally gifted,” Shao Qiushuang clapped. “We rarely roll that number.”
Looking at the three bright red dice, Mu Qing remained calm. “I got three.”
Before the game even began, Mu Qing was destined to lose.
Seeing her boss roll only three, Chen Ning got nervous and rolled a four.
“…” Shao Qiushuang paused. “Honestly, Chen Ning and President Mu are a perfect match for working together.”
The rest rolled quickly. Le Xiaoxiao had the highest score: sixteen.
“President Mu, truth or dare?” Le Xiaoxiao asked.
“Truth,” Mu Qing adjusted her posture, waiting for the question. She had just helped Le Xiaoxiao, so she expected an easy one.
She was right. Le Xiaoxiao racked her brain to come up with a good question that would repay the favor.
“President Mu, if you had a lover, how would you treat her?” Le Xiaoxiao asked, a softball question.
A lover? Mu Qing thought seriously. If Feng Xi were with her, what would she do?
“I’d sign a prenuptial agreement. If I made a mistake after marriage, I’d give her assets worth no less than one billion yuan.”
Mu Qing always thought ahead. In her plan, marrying Feng Xi was inevitable. With this guarantee, Feng Xi wouldn’t have to worry.
