The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 21
Mu Qing’s words successfully silenced Feng Xi. After seeing stocks worth over two billion, Feng Xi began to feel that money was just a number. In comparison, necklaces worth tens or hundreds of thousands suddenly seemed trivial easy to buy, buy as many as you want, no big deal.
Seeing the necklace suddenly appear around her neck, Feng Xi could only sigh, her thoughts too complex to put into words.
Forget it, she thought. Once she gets her paycheck, she’ll buy Mu Qing a gift in return.
Because they had gone out early, Feng Xi and Mu Qing returned from shopping around nine. Su Xiu and the others hadn’t gone to bed yet and were playing the classic game “Who’s the Undercover” in the living room.
“Feng Xi-jie is back!” Shao Qiushuang was the first to notice Feng Xi and Mu Qing behind her.
“Mu Zong went out with Feng Xi-jie?” Su Xiu’s gaze locked onto Mu Qing, sizing her up. “Mu Zong, do you want to play ‘Who’s the Undercover’ with us?”
Mu Qing didn’t answer. She turned to Feng Xi. “Do you want to play?”
“It’s still early. We can play for a while.” Feng Xi wasn’t sleepy yet and thought a little game would be fun.
Mu Qing had never played this kind of game before. After Feng Xi explained the rules, she drew a card.
Durian? Mu Qing glanced at the word on the card and carefully held it in her hand.
Shao Qiushuang went first. “This thing smells bad.”
Su Xiu followed. “I’ve eaten it.”
Xu Leping: “It tastes good.”
Le Xiaoxiao: “I don’t really like it.”
Feng Xi thought for a moment and looked at her card. “I haven’t eaten it in a long time.”
Mu Qing searched her mind for a description. “It’s not expensive, very cheap.”
When it came time to vote, Mu Qing got four votes, Feng Xi one, Su Xiu one.
“Mu Zong is the undercover!” Shao Qiushuang announced confidently. “Mu Zong, your card must be stinky tofu, right?”
Mu Qing looked at her card again and shook her head. “Mine says durian.”
???? Four confused faces.
“Durian is cheap?” Xu Leren asked weakly. “Durian is one of the more expensive fruits.”
“Really?” Mu Qing asked. “Isn’t it just a few hundred yuan per fruit? That’s expensive?”
“…” Xu Leren was speechless. How do you explain to someone worth billions that a few hundred yuan for a fruit is considered expensive?
“It’s not that expensive. In peak season, durian is only about twenty yuan per jin,” Le Xiaoxiao added. “Those imported fruits hyped up overseas are the expensive ones hundreds per jin.”
Clearly, the undercover won this round. Feng Xi smiled and revealed her card: stinky tofu.
“Let’s drink!” Shao Qiushuang quickly opened a beer and poured half a glass for everyone. “Losers drink a sip. Just eyeball the amount.”
Mu Qing didn’t like the taste of alcohol, but she wasn’t one to back down from a challenge. She took a small sip. The malt and bubbles exploded in her mouth, making her squint slightly.
“If you don’t like it, switch to juice,” Feng Xi offered.
Mu Qing shook her head. “It’s fine. The taste isn’t too strong.”
In the second round, Mu Qing looked at her card and frowned smelly socks.
Shao Qiushuang went first again. “Everyone has this.”
Su Xiu: “I have them in my room.”
Xu Leping: “I’ll have some soon.”
Le Xiaoxiao: “Sometimes I throw them away.”
Feng Xi: “I used to have several pairs.”
What is this? Mu Qing thought. “I don’t have any in my room.”
Mu Qing got five votes, Su Xiu one.
“Mu Zong, what’s your card?” Shao Qiushuang asked nervously. Did they guess wrong again?
Mu Qing flipped her card. “Smelly socks.”
“Ah, wrong again?” Shao Qiushuang groaned. “Who doesn’t have smelly socks?”
“Me.” Le Xiaoxiao raised her hand. “Mine says dirty clothes.”
Mu Qing raised an eyebrow and looked at Feng Xi. Feng Xi had several pairs of smelly socks?
Feng Xi met Mu Qing’s gaze innocently. “Sometimes it’s hard to wash socks when you’re out.” Oh no, does Mu Qing think I’m lazy?
“Then your socks aren’t smelly,” Mu Qing said. “Even if worn, they’re not.”
“Cough cough!!” Shao Qiushuang nearly choked on her beer. What do you mean, worn socks aren’t smelly? Who knew Mu Zong was like this? Feng Xi-jie must be… no, no, fairies don’t eat. Let’s drop this topic!
In the third round, Mu Qing was much calmer when she saw her card.
Shao Qiushuang: “I’m wearing it now.”
Su Xiu: “I have it in my suitcase.”
Le Xiaoxiao: “I have lots in my closet.”
Xu Leren: “I buy them often.”
Feng Xi: “Most women wear it. Occasionally, men do too.”
Mu Qing summarized, “I saw it this morning.”
Her response was neutral, making it hard to tell who the undercover was. Shao Qiushuang got three votes, Su Xiu one, Mu Qing two.
“Why vote for me? My card says camisole!” Shao Qiushuang covered her face.
“It’s cold. You’re wearing a camisole?” Xu Leren was stunned.
“Why not? I just showered,” Shao Qiushuang replied confidently.
Su Xiu sighed. She knew it. “Who doesn’t have camisole?”
Mu Qing raised her card. “Mine says underwear.”
After hearing Mu Qing’s earlier description, Su Xiu’s gaze changed almost calling her a pervert.
Feng Xi nearly choked and quickly drank some beer. So it was Mu Qing who tidied her bed this morning.
After several rounds, everyone figured out Mu Qing’s logic. If her description didn’t match her card, she wasn’t the undercover. If it did, she probably was.
With this strategy, they caught the undercover more often. Beer flowed, and even Mu Qing drank nearly two glasses.
“Feng Xi, are you drunk?” Mu Qing asked. Unlike her small sips, Feng Xi drank in big gulps and had several glasses.
“It’s fine. This beer isn’t strong just fizzy juice.” Feng Xi’s face was slightly red, but her eyes were clear.
“That’s good. Sleep early.” Mu Qing leaned in and sniffed Feng Xi’s neck. “You smell like you did when I first met you.”
Feng Xi blinked. Why bring that up now? Is Mu Qing hinting at something?
“I hate the smell of alcohol, but I don’t hate it on you,” Mu Qing said. “Chen Ning told me, when you like someone, you like everything about them. So, you don’t need to hide anything from me.”
Only Mu Qing could say something so romantic with a straight face.
“Mm, I—I understand.” Mu Qing’s words were too intense for Feng Xi to handle. “You should go sleep. I’m going to rest.”
“Okay.” Mu Qing nodded and turned to leave, then looked back. “Feng Xi, can I ask for a goodnight kiss?”
Feng Xi froze, then slammed the door shut.
A goodnight kiss? After saying all those bold things, now she’s asking for a kiss? Too much!
Was it too soon? Mu Qing touched her nose, confused.
She spent money on Feng Xi. Check.
Helped Feng Xi with chores. Check.
Stayed by Feng Xi’s side. Check.
So what went wrong? Why wouldn’t Feng Xi give her a goodnight kiss and shut her out?
“Because you’re too eager,” Chen Ning analyzed. “Girls need to be reserved. Feng Xi cooked for you—that’s a big step up from this morning, right?”
“True,” Mu Qing nodded.
“Exactly. Keep up the effort, and quantity will lead to quality!” Chen Ning said. “Also, don’t ask for a kiss next time. Be more proactive.”
“Proactive? What if Feng Xi doesn’t want me to kiss her?” Mu Qing asked sincerely.
“That’s up to you to judge. Start with a cheek kiss,” Chen Ning advised. As someone with experience, she understood girls’ thoughts.
“If you ask directly, most people will feel awkward,” Chen Ning said. “Next time, slow down during the moment. If Feng Xi doesn’t like it, she’ll push you away. If she doesn’t, she probably accepts it.”
Mu Qing nodded slowly, absorbing Chen Ning’s advice.
“Chen Ning, how did you win over your girlfriend?”
“Well…” Chen Ning scratched her head. “I guess I was reliable? I showed up when she needed me. Being dependable gives people a sense of security.”
They say outsiders see things more clearly. Chen Ning didn’t know why her girlfriend liked her, but she could analyze Mu Qing and Feng Xi’s situation perfectly.
Hand on her heart, Chen Ning swore she was genuinely helping Mu Qing strategize. She wasn’t doing it for extra pay or bonuses to save for her future wedding fund.
She swore!
