The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 17
Mu Qing’s appearance was a surprise to the five people present. But since they were all in the entertainment industry, they’d seen it all adjusting to unexpected situations was second nature. Within minutes, the lively atmosphere resumed as if nothing had happened.
“Hey, Sister Feng Xi, I grilled this especially for you,” said Shao Qiushuang boldly. Though she’d lost a bit of face when she first met Mu Qing, she quickly regained her composure and handed over a freshly grilled skewer of pork loin.
“Thanks, Qiushuang.” Feng Xi smiled as she accepted the skewer, sneaking a glance at Mu Qing to observe her expression.
Mu Qing’s face remained calm and composed, barely reacting except for a quick glance at Feng Xi from the corner of her eye.
Since the skewer was made especially for her, Feng Xi didn’t share it with anyone else. She ate it while continuing to grill more food.
Mu Qing’s gaze lingered openly on Feng Xi, and after a brief inspection, she noticed new jewelry on Feng Xi’s neck and wrist likely recent purchases from Thailand.
That raised a question: did Feng Xi buy them herself, or were they gifts? If it was the latter, then Mu Qing, as a suitor, clearly hadn’t done enough.
Mu Qing wasn’t one to talk much. Though she had questions, she said nothing. Even after Feng Xi finished grilling and feeding everyone, Mu Qing remained silent throughout the meal, following the saying “don’t talk while eating or sleeping.”
“Um, Mu Zong, where are you staying tonight?” Feng Xi asked.
Mu Qing frowned slightly. “Don’t call me Mu Zong. Just use my name.”
She hadn’t noticed the issue with the title before, but hearing Feng Xi call everyone else by their first names Xiaoxiao, Loran, Qiushuang made her feel a bit left out. Why was she the only one being addressed so formally?
Feng Xi bit her lip. “Then… Mu Qing, where are you staying tonight?”
“Hotel. It’s close to the villa you’re all staying in,” Mu Qing replied. “If you run into any trouble, feel free to reach out.”
“Okay. Take care on your way back.” Feng Xi looked down at her toes, then couldn’t help but ask, “Mu Qing, are you here in Thailand for work?”
Thailand isn’t like home it’s a hassle to travel back and forth, and you need a visa.
Mu Qing raised an eyebrow. “I don’t have any business here.”
“Then why did you come to Thailand?” Feng Xi asked, her heart fluttering.
“Of course, it’s because of you. You’re abroad alone, and I’m worried. Plus, your English isn’t great,” Mu Qing said honestly. “I couldn’t change your schedule, so I changed mine.”
Feng Xi’s heart started racing. Mu Qing’s approach was a bit too intense she wasn’t sure she could handle it.
“Oh… I’ll head back now.” Feng Xi didn’t dare continue the conversation. She feared that a few more words from Mu Qing might make her surrender her heart.
“Okay. Message me when you arrive.” Mu Qing gently tucked a strand of hair behind Feng Xi’s ear and whispered:
“I hope I’m in your dreams tonight.”
Feng Xi was dazed as she got into the car. Shao Qiushuang had to call her several times before she snapped out of it.
“Huh? Qiushuang, what did you say earlier? I think I spaced out,” Feng Xi asked.
Qiushuang looked conflicted, hesitating before asking, “Sister Feng Xi, are you and Mu Zong close friends?”
Glancing at the camera in the car, Feng Xi nodded. “Yes, we’re good friends.”
“Then… is Mu Zong here on a business trip?” Su Xiu asked casually.
“She has some things to take care of here,” Feng Xi replied carefully. “I told her a few days ago I’d be filming in Thailand, so she probably came by to check in.”
She couldn’t say too much in front of the cameras. Even if the production team didn’t air it, there was always the risk of paparazzi getting hold of the footage.
Su Xiu nodded, though she didn’t quite believe Feng Xi’s explanation. Who brings roses just to visit a friend?
Su Xiu knew a bit about Feng Xi and Mu Qing’s situation. She’d heard that Mu Qing was the major investor in the drama Feng Xi was auditioning for and that the previous investor who gave Feng Xi a hard time had been bought out by Mu Qing’s company.
Knowing Mu Qing was staying nearby made Feng Xi secretly happy. It felt like as long as Mu Qing was around, she had nothing to worry about.
Lying in bed, Feng Xi took a deep breath and messaged Mu Qing.
Feng Xi: I’ve arrived.
Mu Qing: Okay. Rest early. Good night.
Feng Xi stared at the chat window for a full minute before pressing the voice button and softly saying:
“Good night.”
You said you hoped I’d dream of you tonight. Well, I hope you have sweet dreams too and that I’m in them.
Mu Qing smiled when she heard Feng Xi’s voice message and saved it immediately.
See? Coming here was the right move. Feng Xi even sent her a voice message that’s a sign of growing closeness!
The show’s itinerary in Thailand was four days and three nights. The final day was supposed to feature an outdoor challenge, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Rain started falling just as they were about to head out, and the production team had to switch to an indoor challenge instead.
When Mu Qing arrived, filming had already begun. Not wanting to distract Feng Xi, she had Chen Ning bring over two chairs and quietly sat beside the executive director, watching the group’s interactions.
That person touched my Feng Xi let go!
And that one too don’t cling to her arm!
Mu Qing had arrived quietly, so Feng Xi didn’t notice her at first. It wasn’t until the challenge was nearly over that she spotted Mu Qing.
Wait, Mu Qing’s here? Did she come just to watch me film? That’s not something a “normal friend” would do.
Feng Xi quickly composed herself and finished the challenge smoothly.
Clap clap clap Mu Qing was the first to applaud. Once she had Feng Xi’s attention, she walked over slowly.
“This is a gift I meant to give you last night but forgot,” she said, handing over a gift box.
“Thank you.” Feng Xi accepted it with a hint of anticipation.
“Aren’t you going to open it?” Mu Qing asked.
“Can I?” Feng Xi looked at her.
“Of course. It’s yours now.” Mu Qing’s eyes stayed on Feng Xi’s face, clearly eager to see her reaction.
Feng Xi didn’t disappoint. Her eyes lit up when she saw the diamond-studded bracelet inside.
“Do you like it?” Mu Qing asked, her smile widening.
“Yes, I do.” Who wouldn’t like something so beautiful?
Mu Qing’s smile grew. “May I have the honor of putting it on you?”
Feng Xi smiled and nodded. “Of course.”
Mu Qing had gotten up early to buy the bracelet from a luxury store in Thailand. Though she chose quickly, it was carefully selected.
Her logic was simple: the most expensive items aren’t always the best, but the best ones are never cheap.
She picked from ten high-end bracelets and chose one adorned with diamonds, symbolizing a noble princess.
Feng Xi raised her arm, revealing her fair, slender wrist.
Mu Qing stared at the bracelet Qiushuang had given Feng Xi for three seconds, then expressionlessly removed it and replaced it with her own.
“Looks great,” Mu Qing said, admiring her handiwork.
Feng Xi laughed. “Are you complimenting your own taste?”
“My taste is always excellent.” Mu Qing looked up and met Feng Xi’s gaze. “Also, stop calling me Mu Zong. Use my name.”
“Okay, Mu Qing. Thank you for the bracelet.” Under Mu Qing’s gaze, Feng Xi once again lost the battle and looked away first.
“We’re having a meal before flying out. Want to join us?” Feng Xi asked, changing the subject.
Mu Qing nodded. “Yes, I’ll go with you.”
Their interaction didn’t go unnoticed by the others. Even a fool could tell that Feng Xi and Mu Qing weren’t just ordinary friends.
But Su Xiu narrowed her eyes. Based on her observations, they didn’t seem like a couple either.
Which meant… she might still have a chance.
If they weren’t together yet, then she had to muster the courage to try. That way, she wouldn’t have any regrets.
