The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Xue Luhe’s car pulled into the residential garage. Inside the vehicle, Lin Mo had already fallen asleep, her head resting on Xue Luhe’s shoulder.
As soon as the car stopped, Lin Mo opened her eyes. Still a bit groggy and disoriented, she reached out to open the door but accidentally rolled down the window instead.
Xue Luhe let out a soft chuckle. Reaching across the space in front of Lin Mo, she leaned over to help open the door. Her soft body pressed lightly against Lin Mo’s waist, and the intoxicating scent of her cool fragrance, combined with her silky hair, seemed to fill the entire cabin.
Freshly awakened and still in a daze, Lin Mo felt a subconscious surge of familiarity and a racing pulse. She felt a contradictory urge to both flee and draw closer.
Xue Luhe slowly sat back, making no move to open her own door. She looked at Lin Mo with a teasing smile. “Why aren’t you getting out?”
Lin Mo, greedy for the car’s warmth and the scent of Xue Luhe’s body heat, reached out and grabbed Xue Luhe’s sleeve. “Are you coming to my place?”
Xue Luhe nodded. “As long as you don’t mind, I’d like to see Xia Xue, too.”
Lin Mo’s lips curled upward. She tilted her head to the side as she stepped out of the car, muttering, “It’s only because of Xia Xue. Otherwise, I would’ve kicked you out long ago. Why do you run to my house every day? It’s not like you don’t have a place to live. If the landlord found out, they’d think my apartment was a hotel…”
The driver had already retrieved the folding wheelchair from the trunk and placed it by the door. Xue Luhe stepped out and settled into it. Before she could even press the button to move, Lin Mo had already started pushing her.
Lin Mo seemed particularly energetic today. She pushed the wheelchair with the enthusiasm of someone racing a grocery cart, even breaking into a little trot and humming a happy tune as she wheeled her into the elevator.
“You’re in such a good mood today. Did something good happen?” Xue Luhe looked up at her in the elevator.
“I got a raise! And I have vacation time coming up—annual leave! I can link it with the Spring Festival break! My boss is truly the best!” Lin Mo’s face was glowing, her smile incredibly cute.
“Is it just you, or does everyone get it?” Xue Luhe’s gaze turned deep, seemingly wary of any hidden implications in Lin Mo’s praise for her “boss.”
“I’m not sure about the raises, but everyone gets annual leave. We just take it at different times. Since I’m not a server, I don’t have to follow a shift schedule, so I got to pick my own dates~”
Xue Luhe’s expression softened. “Any plans for the holidays?”
Lin Mo blinked, hiding her small expectations. She looked nonchalantly at the ceiling. “Well, although the break is quite long—about ten days—my social circle is pretty narrow. Everyone visits relatives during Spring Festival, and I don’t really have any family to speak of, so… I don’t have any plans for now.”
Xue Luhe suppressed a smile. “What a coincidence. I don’t have any plans for the holidays either.”
Lin Mo gave a vague “Mhm,” her eyes darting around.
The elevator opened. Lin Mo pushed Xue Luhe to the door and fished out her keys. As soon as the door opened, a weak “Meow—” drifted out.
Xia Xue’s voice was thin and direct. As Lin Mo pushed Xue Luhe over the threshold, the white kitten was already weaving between their feet, affectionately nuzzling Lin Mo’s leg.
After putting away her bag and settling Xue Luhe by the sofa, Lin Mo immediately squatted down, scooped the kitten into her arms, and began rubbing its fur playfully. She peppered it with kisses, and the kitten licked her face and hands with its tiny pink tongue.
“Oh, stop it… that tickles, hahaha! Look at him, he’s too cute. He loves us so much!” Lin Mo held the kitten out toward Xue Luhe.
“He loves you very much,” Xue Luhe said, stroking Xia Xue’s back. The kitten curled into a ball on her lap, letting her pet him. His fur, which had grown significantly, was incredibly fine and soft.
“He loves you too. You come to see him every day and bring doctors over. He’s just sick right now and doesn’t have much energy. Once he’s better, he’ll definitely welcome both of us,” Lin Mo explained. She felt that if the kitten didn’t like Xue Luhe, it would be a huge blow to her.
Ever since Xue Luhe admitted she needed love, Lin Mo felt the woman had a “love deficit” and wanted to fill it with friendship, affection for pets… all of it. As for romantic love… Lin Mo wasn’t quite sure of her own heart yet, so she set that aside for now.
“It’s alright. I can feel that he doesn’t dislike me. That’s enough,” Xue Luhe said with a faint smile.
The sight of the snowy kitten resting on Xue Luhe’s long legs was beautiful. Lin Mo found it hard to look away. The combination of the beauty and the white cat created a profound sense of peace.
Lin Mo rubbed her eyes and headed to the kitchen to check for dinner, only to find the fridge empty. “Oh no, I’m out of food… Should we order takeout? Do you want to eat here?” She asked, munching on an apple.
Xue Luhe pulled out her phone and made a quick call. In less than thirty minutes, a feast from a five-star hotel was laid out on Lin Mo’s table.
“It’s good to be rich,” Lin Mo sighed. “Even the kitchen’s speed is faster. Incredible.”
Xue Luhe chuckled. “The hotel is just nearby. And they delivered it via drone.”
Lin Mo was speechless. “Then… hooray for technological progress?”
Xue Luhe raised a glass. “To technological progress.”
After dinner, it was past 10:00 PM. Lin Mo rubbed her stomach and said, “I’m going to take a shower. Stay here with Xia Xue.”
Usually, Lin Mo wouldn’t shower while Xue Luhe was still over, but it was late, and Xue Luhe didn’t seem ready to leave yet. She didn’t want to kick her out, so she went to wash up.
Xue Luhe nodded obediently. Xia Xue was getting sleepy and looking for warmth, so Xue Luhe cradled the kitten, gently stroking its fur.
As the sound of running water filled the bathroom, steam quickly filled the room. Lin Mo enjoyed the hot shower until she heard a phone ringing in the living room. Then, she heard Xue Luhe’s muffled voice speaking.
She didn’t think much of it. After her shower, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Not too thin, not too fat—petite and cute, with curves in the right places. While she couldn’t compare to the woman in the living room, she was certainly a beauty.
She patted her cheeks, wondering: Would Xue Luhe like me better if I were a bit chubbier?
The thought startled her. Why was she worrying about what Xue Luhe liked? Would she go on a diet if she didn’t like her look? Why did it matter?!
Lin Mo shook her hair out, dried herself off, and put on her slightly sexy deep-V nightgown before stepping out cautiously. She had been worried the outfit might be too provocative, but it turned out she was overthinking it.
Xue Luhe was still in the living room, focused on her phone, typing away. She looked incredibly busy and didn’t spare a glance for Lin Mo.
Lin Mo walked over and stood nearby for a while, but Xue Luhe remained buried in her phone. Lin Mo quietly went to pet the sleeping Xia Xue, eventually waking the kitten up. The cat gave a soft “mew,” but still, Xue Luhe didn’t look up.
Pouting, Lin Mo walked directly in front of Xue Luhe, using her body to block the overhead light and casting a shadow over the phone screen.
“Oh? You’re finished? Then I’ll head back now.” Xue Luhe looked up, her tone flat. She turned her wheelchair to leave.
“Wait! Stop right there!” Lin Mo chased after the wheelchair. This was absurd! Why? Shouldn’t Xue Luhe be the one chasing her?!
Xue Luhe reached the door and looked back. “I’m sorry, I have an emergency. I really have to go.”
Lin Mo stood there, tongue-tied. It took her a long moment to squeeze out: “…What kind of emergency?”
Xue Luhe said, “There’s an issue with an urgent project at the company. I have to fly back to handle it. My private jet takes off tonight.”
Lin Mo hadn’t expected it to be something so serious. Her eyes widened. Xue Luhe looked at her helplessly. “It can’t be helped. I’ll make it up to you when I get back.”
Lin Mo nodded slowly, then murmured, “When will you be back…”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt like a neglected wife. She quickly added in a firmer tone, “I’m just… worried your body can’t handle it. And… and Xia Xue isn’t fully recovered yet…”
“I’ll be fine. The vet knows Xia Xue’s condition; he’ll continue to look after him.” Xue Luhe’s gaze was deep as she looked into Lin Mo’s eyes, her voice dropping to a whisper. “As for when I come back… that depends on you.”
Lin Mo blinked, understanding the implication. She closed her eyes, braced herself, and leaned down to give Xue Luhe a proactive hug. She wrapped her arms around Xue Luhe’s waist, intending it to be a friendly “goodbye” hug to give her something to think about.
But the next second, she heard a sigh. Her body was suddenly pulled down by Xue Luhe, and she found herself sitting on the other woman’s lap. To keep her balance, Lin Mo wrapped her arms around Xue Luhe’s neck, looking at her with wide, helpless eyes.
The little beauty, fresh from the bath, was shrouded in warm steam, her damp hair dripping and her cheeks flushed rosy. Her eyes were like bright stars, and between her slightly parted lips were teeth like white pearls.
It was too much.
Xue Luhe’s throat moved. She closed her eyes and leaned in. But at the last second, she remembered what happened before and stopped.
Lin Mo didn’t like being kissed forcefully…
Instead, Xue Luhe simply brushed her nose against Lin Mo’s cute, delicate one.
“Wait for me. I’ll be back soon,” Xue Luhe said softly, yet with absolute determination.
