The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
For the rest of the day, Lin Mo was listless. She allowed Xue Luhe to hold up various outfits against her body, but whenever asked for her opinion, she simply shook her head in refusal.
What time was it for shopping? Lin Mo had no heart for it. The sight of those gorgeous clothes only filled her with irritation.
Finally, with a grand wave of her hand, Xue Luhe declared: “Buy them all. Keep everything.”
The shopping guides were stunned, then ecstatic. This single transaction earned them months’ worth of wages! Serving the superstar Xue Luhe was truly a gold mine.
“Thank you, Ms. Xue! Thank you so much! We’ll give you a discount! And thank you, Ms. Lin. Ms. Xue truly dotes on you. We wish you both a long and happy life together!”
The guides didn’t know the true nature of their relationship, but they were seasoned professionals; they could tell Xue Luhe treated Lin Mo with an unusual intensity. There was definitely “something” going on.
Lin Mo was stuck between laughter and tears, not wanting to talk to them, while Xue Luhe smiled and said, “You have a sweet tongue. Go find the butler later for a tip.”
The Recorded Sob
After returning to the master bedroom, Lin Mo sat on the bed, staring out the window. It began to pour. Rain hammered the garden, thrashing the flowers and plants until many petals lay crushed on the ground.
Xue Luhe leaned against the wall, arms crossed, observing the girl. After a long silence, she let out a cold snort. “What, unhappy? You don’t like the clothes I found?”
Lin Mo didn’t answer. She didn’t even look back. She simply let out a bold, icy “Heh.”
Do you really not know why I’m unhappy? Do I even have the right to dislike things you force on me? You nearly strangled me, and now you’re asking why I’m not happy? Isn’t that ridiculous?
Lin Mo didn’t dare say these things aloud. There was no point; Xue Luhe was doing this on purpose. She knew everything; she just didn’t care. She didn’t care about Lin Mo’s feelings at all.
Xue Luhe stared at her for a moment, then turned and left.
Left alone, Lin Mo felt hopeless, as if all chance of freedom had vanished. Suddenly, her phone vibrated. It was Lu Ruoruo.
“Hello, I’m looking for Lin Mo. Is it convenient for her to talk?” Ruoruo’s voice was uncharacteristically polite.
“It’s me. I’m alone. It’s fine to talk,” Lin Mo replied.
Ruoruo’s voice immediately snapped back to its usual shrill, frantic tone. “Oh, Lin Mo! Why didn’t you tell me the situation was like this? Ms. Xue is clearly very interested in you! You should just lock her down. I thought she was persecuting you, but seeing you today, I feel like she really dotes on you!”
“Dotes on me?” Lin Mo was speechless.
“Yes! She brought all those designers just for you! That’s like an idol drama plot! If someone did that for me, I’d be over the moon!”
Lin Mo said tonelessly, “What if I told you she bought all the clothes, every single one? How would you feel then?”
Ruoruo let out an ear-piercing scream. “AAAAHHH! I’d probably faint from happiness! Do you know how many limited editions and designer originals were in there? Xue Luhe is totally obsessed with you! You two are so perfect together, stop being difficult and just be with her!”
“But the injury on my leg… she’s the one who did it,” Lin Mo said quietly.
Ruoruo went silent. After a long pause, she whispered, “Maybe… she was too impulsive when she found out you cheated. You were the one in the wrong first…”
Lin Mo felt a sudden surge of grievance. None of this had anything to do with her. Why did she have to bear the consequences of the original Lin Mo’s actions? Was she given a new life just to be beaten and humiliated?
Tears spilled from her eyes. “But I feel so wronged. Why is it me suffering this? I didn’t do those things! Yet I’m the one hurt, in pain, and imprisoned…” She began to sob softly into the phone.
On the third floor…
In the study, a phone sat on the desk, playing a real-time recording of the call. The soft sobbing, like inescapable vines, drifted past the ceiling-high bookshelves and reached Xue Luhe’s ears.
Xue Luhe held a book, but her eyes were fixed on the phone. Her fingers gripped the pages so hard they wrinkled. She had been monitoring Lin Mo’s phone since the amnesia started. So far, she hadn’t found a glaring flaw in the amnesia story, but it only made things more puzzling.
On the phone, Ruoruo finally spoke up. “Stop crying… Look, it’s true you slept with a beauty. You told me that yourself.”
Lin Mo stopped crying. “When? What did I say?”
“About two days before you slept with her. You messaged me saying you might have done something wrong, but you didn’t regret it.”
“What does that prove?” Lin Mo asked.
“Think about it! It means you were prepared to cheat! You slept with someone, it felt good, so you didn’t regret it!”
Lin Mo thought to herself that Ruoruo was jumping to conclusions. The original owner could have been talking about anything. “I don’t think I meant that… but whatever. I’m locked in here by the big psycho anyway. Don’t come back here, Ruoruo. The psycho has her eye on you. I don’t want to drag you down.”
The Morning After
That night, Lin Mo fell asleep only to sense someone standing over her. This time, the person was blunt.
“Move over. Give me some space.”
A soft, cold hand pressed against Lin Mo’s shoulder, pushing her aside. Dazed with sleep, Lin Mo simply rolled over. She felt the bed dip as someone sat down, but she was too tired to care and drifted back to sleep.
The next morning, Lin Mo opened her eyes and was hit with a shock: Holy crap! Xue Luhe and I… we slept in the same bed last night!
Xue Luhe was wearing a deep green, simplified kimono-style nightgown with wide sleeves. A long, porcelain-white leg peeked out from the messy robes. She was still asleep, her beautiful face looking tranquil, almost innocent, though her brow was furrowed as if her dreams weren’t peaceful.
The faint mole under her eye looked like a shimmering, un-dried tear. Lin Mo was momentarily stunned, then quickly captivated by the beauty. Up close, Xue Luhe was a perfect work of art—no pores, no wrinkles, just sharp, aggressive beauty.
This face… and this long leg… the ankle is so slender…
Driven by a strange impulse, Lin Mo reached out her hand toward Xue Luhe’s ankle. She only intended to “shadow” it with her hand, to see if she could encircle it without touching the skin.
But plans never go as expected.
Just as Lin Mo’s hand reached out, Xue Luhe opened her eyes.
Startled, Lin Mo’s hand flinched and landed—smack—right on Xue Luhe’s thigh.
