The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 72
Ning Yunshu was thoroughly charmed. She cleared her throat and said, “Sister, why don’t you sit for a while? I’ll just finish up this bit of work.”
“Alright,” Ye Qinglan agreed with a nod, settling onto the sofa and pulling out her phone.
Ning Yunshu quickly wrapped up her tasks before sidling up to Ye Qinglan. “Want to go out for dinner tonight?”
Ye Qinglan looked at her, puzzled. “What’s the occasion? But I don’t mind, you’re usually the one cooking, after all.”
Ning Yunshu grinned. “There’s a restaurant I’d love to take you to.”
Ye Qinglan blinked. “Sure.”
Delighted by her immediate agreement, Ning Yunshu tugged her up. “Then let’s go! If we’re late, we’ll have to wait in line.”
“Hey, slow down!” Ye Qinglan barely had time to protest before being dragged into the elevator.
Half an hour later, the two were seated in a medieval-themed restaurant.
Ye Qinglan looked around in surprise. “I’ve lived in S City for so long, but I never knew a place like this existed.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled softly. “I overheard some colleagues talking about it. Sounded interesting, so I looked it up. Since you were free today, I thought we could check it out.”
Ye Qinglan’s eyes curved into crescents. The restaurant was dimly lit, with only flickering candlelight casting an amber glow. In that soft light, her smile momentarily stole Ning Yunshu’s breath away.
Her heart raced uncontrollably.
Clearing her throat to mask her fluster, Ning Yunshu gestured to the menu. “Sister, see what you’d like to order?”
Unaware of her reaction, Ye Qinglan perused the menu and made her selections. They chatted idly until their food arrived, then enjoyed their meal in comfortable silence.
After dinner, they decided to head home. Ye Qinglan had etiquette classes starting the next day coincidentally, right next to Ning Yunshu’s office. Seizing the opportunity, Ning Yunshu gazed at her expectantly.
Ye Qinglan understood instantly and smiled. “Should I come find you after class?”
“Yes!” Ning Yunshu nodded eagerly.
Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but laugh, cupping Ning Yunshu’s face and giving it an affectionate squeeze.
“You little clingy thing.”
Ning Yunshu caught her hand, pressing a kiss to her palm before lifting her gaze, eyes shimmering with mischief.
Ye Qinglan’s breath hitched, her pulse quickening. She stammered, “D-don’t stay up too late.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “Alright, whatever Sister says.”
Then she leaned in, capturing Ye Qinglan’s lips in a lingering kiss. When they parted, Ning Yunshu murmured, “Sister, I want to try something else.”
Ye Qinglan: “???”
Ye Qinglan: “What else?”
Her confusion turned to shock as Ning Yunshu retrieved a box from the bedroom. When she opened it, revealing the contents, Ye Qinglan’s scalp prickled.
“N-Ning Yunshu, where did you get these?”
They spent nearly every moment together, how had Ning Yunshu managed to hide such things from her?
Ning Yunshu smirked. “Naturally, when Sister wasn’t around.”
She fixed Ye Qinglan with a hopeful look.
“Don’t you want to try?”
Ye Qinglan’s face flushed crimson, utterly at a loss for words, especially when Ning Yunshu leaned in close to her lips, kissing the corner of her mouth while pleading softly.
“Just try it, sister.”
Ye Qinglan felt her entire body grow feverish under the other woman’s teasing, and in her dazed state, she nodded.
Then, she immediately regretted that hasty decision.
Ning Yunshu, having tasted the sweetness, coaxed her into doing it again and again. In the end, it was Ye Qinglan who couldn’t take it anymore and gave her a light kick.
“Enough already, I have classes tomorrow.”
Only then did Ning Yunshu reluctantly kiss her back one last time before finally letting her go.
As a result, when Ye Qinglan woke up the next day, she was completely exhausted and groggy.
Knowing she was at fault, Ning Yunshu didn’t dare speak too loudly. She obediently coaxed Ye Qinglan out of bed, made sure she ate breakfast, and waited until she seemed more alert before driving her to class.
Clearly, Ye Qinglan was still holding a grudge. The moment she got out of the car, she walked off without even saying goodbye.
Ning Yunshu rubbed the tip of her nose sheepishly and headed to work.
When Ye Qinglan’s class ended, Ning Yunshu dutifully called her. The phone rang for a long while, and Ning Yunshu began to worry that Ye Qinglan was so angry she wouldn’t even pick up until the call finally connected.
“Hello?” Ye Qinglan’s voice still sounded tired.
Ning Yunshu quickly asked eagerly, “Are you done with class, sister?”
“Just finished. I’ll come to you,” Ye Qinglan replied.
Relieved that she didn’t seem angry anymore, Ning Yunshu quietly exhaled before suggesting, “Should I ask Sister Qinyun to pick you up?”
“No need. You already gave me the passcode. I’ll go up myself,” Ye Qinglan said.
“Alright then, I’ll wait for you.”
“Mm.”
After hanging up, Ye Qinglan said goodbye to her etiquette instructor and headed to Ning Yunshu’s company. Taking the private elevator upstairs, she unexpectedly ran into Ji An, who had just finished reporting work and was leaving.
Ji An was perceptive. She smiled and greeted her before saying, “President Ning is inside.”
Ye Qinglan nodded. “Alright, thank you, President Ji.”
Ji An simply smiled and left in the elevator. Ye Qinglan let out a quiet sigh of relief before knocking on Ning Yunshu’s office door.
“Come in.”
Hearing Ning Yunshu’s voice, Ye Qinglan pushed the door open and entered. The moment Ning Yunshu saw her, the frown on her face melted into a smile.
“You’re here, sister. Make yourself comfortable, I just need to finish reviewing this proposal,” Ning Yunshu said with a grin.
“Then I’ll rest in the lounge. Call me when you’re done,” Ye Qinglan replied, not wanting to disturb her work.
“Sure, wait for me inside then,” Ning Yunshu agreed.
Ye Qinglan entered the lounge. After a busy morning and a lack of proper rest the night before, she was feeling drowsy and decided to take a short nap on the lounge bed. Listening to Ning Yunshu’s soft murmurs on the phone outside, she soon fell into a deep sleep.
When Ning Yunshu finished her work and entered the lounge, she could only smile helplessly at the sight of Ye Qinglan fast asleep. She sat down nearby and sent a message to Qinyun.
By the time Ye Qinglan woke up, refreshed, she saw Ning Yunshu playing on her phone beside her. Sitting up, she yawned and asked, “How long was I asleep?”
“A little over an hour. Did you rest well?” Ning Yunshu asked, watching her.
“Not bad.” Ye Qinglan got out of bed. “I’ll wash my face to wake up properly.”
“Alright,” Ning Yunshu responded.
When Ye Qinglan finished tidying up and came out, Qin Yun happened to arrive with their meals. Ning Yunshu took the food and called Ye Qinglan over to eat.
After the meal, Ning Yunshu received a phone call and immediately got back to work. Left with little else to do, Ye Qinglan idly scrolled through her phone and watched videos in the lounge, intending to wait for Ning Yunshu to finish so they could leave together. However, Ning Yunshu remained buried in work until evening, even having to attend an emergency meeting later.
Seeing how busy she was, Ye Qinglan didn’t want to disturb her. But Ning Yunshu, concerned that Ye Qinglan might be bored, arranged for Qin Yun to take her home first.
When Qin Yun explained the plan, Ye Qinglan frowned slightly and couldn’t help asking, “Is it something serious for her?”
Qin Yun smiled and shook her head. “No need to worry. Director Ning will handle this workload just fine.”
Still uneasy, Ye Qinglan hesitated, prompting Qin Yun to reassure her, “It’s just a minor issue. Director Ning will resolve it today. Please don’t worry. Let me take you home first, I’ll make sure she gets back safely once she’s done.”
Reluctantly, Ye Qinglan agreed and let Qin Yun drive her home.
Once there, she remained unsettled and decided to wait in the living room to see when Ning Yunshu would return.
But the wait stretched late into the night.
When Ning Yunshu finally came home and saw Ye Qinglan half-asleep on the sofa, she was startled. “Jiejie, go to bed properly,” she urged softly.
Hearing her voice, Ye Qinglan blinked drowsily. “You’re back. How was work? Was there a big problem?”
Ning Yunshu smiled tenderly at her concerned questioning. “It’s fine. Everything’s resolved nothing major.”
“Really?” Ye Qinglan pressed, as if suspecting Ning Yunshu might be downplaying things.
Ning Yunshu stepped forward, scooped her up in a bridal carry, and pressed a kiss to her hair. “Really. There were just some price fluctuations with the land I’m bidding on, but it’s nothing to worry about. A new plan has already been finalized, so rest easy, jiejie.”
Ye Qinglan looped her arms around Ning Yunshu’s neck and buried her face against her shoulder, murmuring sleepily, “That’s good.”
Ning Yunshu laid her down on the bed and grinned. “So, jiejie, do you want to change into pajamas yourself, or should I help you?”
At that, Ye Qinglan’s drowsiness vanished instantly. She fixed Ning Yunshu with a wary look. “I’ll do it myself.”
Ning Yunshu pouted in disappointment.
A shame. Maybe she shouldn’t have asked.
Next thing she knew, she was shut out of the master bedroom’s bathroom. Sighing, she rubbed her nose and headed to the living room bathroom to wash up.
By the time she returned, Ye Qinglan was already bundled under the blankets. Ning Yunshu slipped in beside her and wrapped an arm around her, only to have her hand lightly smacked away.
“Behave. I’m exhausted.”
Ning Yunshu whined, “I just wanted to hold you while we sleep.”
When no reply came, she took it as silent permission and pulled Ye Qinglan close, closing her eyes as she nestled against her.
They slept soundly through the night.
Over the following days, Ye Qinglan attended etiquette classes in the mornings before heading to Ning Yunshu’s company to wait for her to finish work. It got to the point where Ke Ying began wondering which company Ye Qinglan actually belonged to.
But after just a few days of classes, the final episode of their variety show arrived.
Reflecting on everything that had happened along the way, Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
“What’s wrong?” Ning Yunshu, who was packing her luggage, couldn’t help but ask upon hearing the sigh.
Ye Qinglan looked at her and smiled. “Nothing, I was just thinking how much time has passed. Counting from when you returned until now, it’s been over half a year.”
Ning Yunshu also smiled.
“Yes, back then I almost thought my sister would never forgive me,” she said, looking at Ye Qinglan.
“But fortunately, in the end, my sister was willing to give me another chance.”
