The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 61
The howling wind and snow woke Ye Qinglan from her dream once again.
Outside the window, the sky was still dark, the faint roar of the storm audible. She carefully extricated herself from Ning Yunshu’s embrace, not wanting to wake the woman beside her, then walked to the window.
A chill seeped through the glass as she watched the snowflakes swirling wildly outside, the worry on her face refusing to fade.
“Jiejie?” A drowsy voice called from the bed. Ye Qinglan turned quickly to see Ning Yunshu propping herself up, gazing at her with concern.
“Can’t sleep?”
Ye Qinglan glanced outside again. “The snow’s getting heavier. We might not be able to leave today.”
Ning Yunshu got up and wrapped her arms around Ye Qinglan from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. You don’t have any endorsements scheduled after this, right?”
Ye Qinglan shook her head slightly, her hair brushing against Ning Yunshu’s cheek, tickling her and making her nuzzle Ye Qinglan’s face unconsciously.
“Then there’s nothing to worry about. Just treat it like a vacation.”
She inhaled deeply, taking in Ye Qinglan’s scent, tightening her embrace slightly as if trying to meld her into her very bones.
Ye Qinglan sensed her thoughts and chuckled softly, lifting a hand to caress Ning Yunshu’s cheek.
“Be good. Now’s not the time.”
“Fine.” Ning Yunshu reluctantly let go.
Ye Qinglan laughed. “It’s the middle of the night. Aren’t you tired?”
“Not when I get to be close to you.” Ning Yunshu answered bluntly.
Ye Qinglan took her hand and lightly nipped her finger.
“Alright, enough. No more dirty thoughts.”
Ning Yunshu’s breath hitched, a tingling sensation spreading from her bitten fingertip through her entire body.
But Ye Qinglan paid her no further mind, turning back to the bed and lying down.
“Time to sleep.”
Ning Yunshu rubbed her fingertips, suppressing the desire in her heart, then took a deep breath and returned to bed as well.
Naturally, she pulled Ye Qinglan into her arms.
Ye Qinglan struggled faintly but didn’t break free, allowing Ning Yunshu to hold her.
They slept soundly until morning.
When they woke the next day, the snow still hadn’t stopped. Ning Yunshu checked the airport flights sure enough, they were delayed.
With no other choice, the two decided not to dwell on it. After freshening up, they headed to the living room.
As expected, the others had also given up on leaving that day. Seeing them, Du Wenjun spoke up, “You’re awake. I talked to the production team with conditions like this, we can’t leave anyway, so we might as well stay another day and wait for the snow to ease tomorrow.”
Ye Qinglan nodded. “That’s what I thought too. The snow’s too heavy, it’s not safe to go out now.”
“Supplies should last for now. The crew said if we run low, they’ll arrange for someone to bring more in advance,” Xu Chaoyang replied.
“As long as the snow stops, everything will be fine,” Xu Youyou added. “But for now, we’ll just have to pretend we’re still on vacation.”
Everyone laughed, and then Ning Yunshu said, “Should I make breakfast?”
“Sounds good. I’ll help too,” Du Wenjun offered, standing up. Jiang Can also went to lend a hand.
After breakfast, with nothing much to do and the heavy snow disrupting signals making TV unwatchable and phones useless for gaming the group decided to pass the time playing cards.
Ye Qinglan, who hadn’t rested well the night before, decided to go back and catch up on some sleep. Ning Yunshu accompanied her.
Seeing that the two were going to rest, the others thought it over and decided to head upstairs to play, not wanting to disturb them.
Once back in the room, Ye Qinglan covered a yawn with her hand.
“I’m exhausted.”
Ning Yunshu smiled. “Then get some sleep. I’ll stay here with you.”
“But what will you do while I sleep? There’s no internet,” Ye Qinglan asked, looking at her.
Ning Yunshu pulled out her tablet and grinned. “I’ll just go over some reports. Don’t worry about me.”
Seeing this, Ye Qinglan pouted. “Fine.”
Noticing her reaction, Ning Yunshu leaned in with an amused smile. “Or does my sister want me to keep her company?”
Ye Qinglan flushed. “Who needs your company? Go do your work.”
With that, she tugged the blanket over herself, turned away, and closed her eyes, refusing to look at Ning Yunshu.
Ning Yunshu chuckled softly and went back to her tablet.
Ye Qinglan slept deeply and didn’t wake until the afternoon. Ning Yunshu was still in the room, sitting on the sofa near the fireplace, though she had switched from her tablet to a book.
Sitting up, Ye Qinglan yawned. “How long was I asleep?”
Ning Yunshu glanced at the clock. “It’s three. Do you want something to eat? I can heat it up for you.”
She closed her book and stood.
Ye Qinglan blinked in surprise. “Three? I slept that long?”
“Yep,” Ning Yunshu replied with a smile. “You were sleeping so soundly at lunchtime that I didn’t want to wake you.”
Ye Qinglan looked toward the window, though the curtains were drawn, blocking the view. “Is it still snowing outside?”
“The snow stopped. The crew came to clear the roads. Teacher Jiang and the others left with Teacher Du earlier. Sister Wei and Youyou plan to stay a few more days. Our flight’s been rescheduled for tonight, so we’ll head to the airport later,” Ning Yunshu explained.
Ye Qinglan rubbed her temples.
“Alright. But I can’t believe I slept through all that.”
“Maybe because you were exhausted yesterday, plus you didn’t sleep well at night?” Ning Yunshu suggested. “I’ll go heat up the food. You freshen up.”
“Okay.” Ye Qinglan nodded.
Once Ning Yunshu left the room, Ye Qinglan got up, washed her face, and went to the living room.
Ning Yunshu reheated lunch, and the two ate lightly. Just then, Wei Youning and Xu Youyou came downstairs, loaded with bags.
“Qinglan, you’re awake?” Wei Youning greeted her.
“Yeah. Weren’t you two planning to stay longer? What’s with all the bags?” Ye Qinglan asked, puzzled.
Wei Youning nodded. “We are, but we can’t stay here. It’s too remote, just the two of us would be a bit scary. We’re going to find a hotel in town. At least it’ll be safer, and we won’t have to worry about getting snowed in.”
Ye Qinglan considered it and agreed.
“So, we’ll leave with you later. You can drop us off in town, then drive to the airport. We’ll stay there for a few days,” Wei Youning said cheerfully.
Ye Qinglan smiled. “Sounds good. I’ll pack after I finish eating.”
After finishing their meal, she quickly went back to her room to pack her luggage.
Once everything was packed, they locked the door and left together. Ning Yunshu drove carefully, first dropping Wei Youning and the others off in town before heading to the airport with Ye Qinglan.
The roads were slippery, so Ning Yunshu drove with extra caution. Fortunately, traffic wasn’t too heavy, and they managed to arrive at the airport an hour before boarding.
After parking the car and sending the location to the production team, the two went through security and headed to the departure lounge.
In the VIP lounge, Ning Yunshu, who had been driving with intense focus the whole way, finally relaxed. Exhausted, she slumped drowsily against Ye Qinglan’s shoulder.
“Jiejie, I’m so tired,” she murmured, nuzzling against Ye Qinglan’s ear.
“You worked hard today,” Ye Qinglan soothed softly.
Ning Yunshu hummed in response, wrapping her arms around Ye Qinglan’s waist.
“You’ll have to comfort me properly when we get back.”
Luckily, the VIP lounge was empty except for them otherwise, Ning Yunshu’s bold words would have made her want to crawl into a hole.
Ye Qinglan pinched her cheek in exasperation.
“Ning Yunshu, can’t you at least pretend to be proper in public?”
Ning Yunshu pouted. “There’s no one else here.”
Ye Qinglan gritted her teeth. “But there are cameras.”
Glancing at the surveillance camera, Ning Yunshu clicked her tongue in annoyance before sitting up straight with a huff.
Seeing her irritation, Ye Qinglan felt a pang of guilt.
“Xiao Shu, I’m sorry. Don’t be upset.”
If she weren’t so cautious, they wouldn’t have to hide like this.
Ning Yunshu pressed her lips together, then shook her head. “It’s fine. I was just complaining.”
Ye Qinglan opened her mouth to say more, but Ning Yunshu quickly changed the subject.
“Alright, it’s almost boarding time. Let’s get on the plane, okay?”
With that, she stood and grabbed their luggage.
Ye Qinglan bit her lower lip, knowing this wasn’t the place for such a conversation, so she followed Ning Yunshu onto the plane.
During the flight, Ning Yunshu didn’t say much. Perhaps too exhausted, she put on an eye mask and fell asleep as soon as the plane stabilized.
Ye Qinglan, however, couldn’t sleep. She leaned back in her seat, lips pressed together, her expression somber.
Eventually, the long flight wore her down, and she dozed off against Ning Yunshu’s shoulder.
By the time they landed, it was already the next morning.
Exhausted, the two disembarked and were driven home by Qin Yun.
Once inside, Ye Qinglan could barely keep her eyes open, but she didn’t want to miss this rare chance to talk to Ning Yunshu, so she clung to her wrist, refusing to let go.
Seeing her sleepy yet stubborn grip, Ning Yunshu’s heart melted.
Any lingering frustration vanished as she coaxed gently, “Good jiejie, if you’re tired, go rest, okay?”
Ye Qinglan shook her head, tightening her hold.
“Don’t be mad anymore, Xiao Shu!”
Her voice trembled slightly, on the verge of tears.
Panicking, Ning Yunshu quickly leaned in to kiss her cheek.
“I’m not mad, I’m not mad. Please don’t cry, jiejie?”
Ye Qinglan wrapped her arms around Ning Yunshu’s neck and kissed her lips.
Drowsy yet tender, she sought comfort in the kiss, holding Ning Yunshu carefully.
The once proud and feisty kitten now touched her with such caution and timidity, filling Ning Yunshu’s heart with a bittersweet ache. She ended the kiss first, then pressed a gentle kiss to Ye Qinglan’s anxious, worried eyes.
“Silly sister, you’re mine regardless. Whether we announce it sooner or later makes no difference to me,” Ning Yunshu murmured tenderly.
Her lips trailed slowly down the bridge of Ye Qinglan’s nose, warm breath brushing against her cheeks.
“How could I ever bear to be angry with you?”
