The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 58
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of the villa door opening.
“Morning, you two,” Wei Youning greeted them with a smile.
“Morning,” Ye Qinglan returned the smile.
“Looks like you both had a good rest.”
Wei Youning nodded, “It was great. Without the city’s noise, I feel much more relaxed.”
Ye Qinglan smiled gently, “That’s wonderful.”
“Are you shoveling snow? Let me help,” Wei Youning said, reaching for a tool.
“Sure,” Xu Chaoyang didn’t refuse the offer.
Xu Youyou joined them after coming out, and with more hands, the snow clearing went faster. By the time Ning Yunshu called them for breakfast, the courtyard was already tidied up.
“Good work, everyone. Come and eat,” Ning Yunshu said cheerfully.
“Yay! With all this snow, how about we build a snowman after breakfast?” Xu Youyou, still a child at heart, was full of excitement, which amused everyone.
“Of course,” Xu Chaoyang agreed.
Seeing Xu Chaoyang agree, the others had no objections either.
Du Wenjun also got excited at the idea. She said since there was so much snow, building a few more wouldn’t be a problem.
Xu chaoyang reminded her, “We have filming today, don’t forget.”
Du Wenjun stuck out her tongue.
“Oops, I forgot about that.”
After breakfast, they prepared to build a snowman in the yard. Just as they finished the base, two vehicles struggled down the road outside, one clearing the snow ahead, the other following behind.
The first was the town’s snowplow, the second the production team’s car.
“They’re here, finally here,” everyone exclaimed upon seeing the production team’s vehicle.
When the car stopped and the door opened, Jiang Can and her girlfriend stepped out.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Jiang Can apologized.
“No problem, as long as you arrived safely. Have you had breakfast?” Du Wenjun asked.
Jiang Can nodded, “We ate at the airport.”
“That’s good,” Du Wenjun smiled.
Fang Qiang also got out of the car and addressed the group, “Sorry, everyone. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve changed the live broadcast to a recorded one. Otherwise, with the time difference, we’d sometimes be broadcasting late into the night.”
Everyone understood and agreed.
Besides, a recorded broadcast would be less stressful.
Fang Qiang explained further: due to the heavy snow the previous night, the planned mountain hike was canceled. Instead, they would film a day-in-the-life segment, meaning they could do whatever they wanted that day, as long as they didn’t go into the mountains or wander too far.
She also had the crew bring in plenty of food, as another heavy snowfall could delay supplies.
After helping the crew store the food in the kitchen, they saw them off.
With the cameras rolling, they discussed what to do first.
Once Jiang Can and her girlfriend settled their luggage, Ye Qinglan suggested, “How about we finish the snowman first, then explore the town?”
Everyone agreed and immediately resumed building the snowman.
When a charmingly naive snowman was finally built, everyone gathered for a group photo. After getting permission from the production team, each posted about it on Weibo.
Anxious fans who had been waiting quickly flooded their favorite stars’ Weibo posts with praise.
However, due to poor internet connection, none of them checked the comments after posting. Instead, they prepared to head into town.
The production team had only left them a car that could seat four, so they decided to walk especially since the weather was nice and the town was only ten minutes away.
The surroundings were lovely, making the stroll quite pleasant.
The path was quiet, and they chatted and laughed as they entered the town. Ye Qinglan even took them to a souvenir shop she had visited before.
The shop owner was extremely welcoming, especially after learning who they were, and enthusiastically greeted them.
Each of them bought a few keepsakes.
After some shopping, they wandered around town, sampling local snacks, and didn’t return to the villa until the afternoon.
Having spent the whole day outside, Ye Qinglan wanted to collapse straight into bed upon returning, but Ning Yunshu pulled her up.
“I turned off the cameras and heated the water. Go take a bath first, sister. I’ll help Teacher Du with dinner.”
Ye Qinglan slumped against Ning Yunshu like a boneless creature.
“Too tired. Don’t wanna move.”
Ning Yunshu sighed. “Be good, sister. The other teachers are still waiting outside, you know?”
Ye Qinglan glanced at her and huffed.
“Don’t think you can use the others to pressure me. I already told Teacher Du I’m resting for a bit.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled, tilting her head to kiss the corner of Ye Qinglan’s lips.
“Go on, dear sister. I’ll make your favorite dishes tonight, okay?”
“Trying to bribe me?” Ye Qinglan smirked.
Ning Yunshu grinned. “If you want more, you’ll have to wait until late at night.”
Ye Qinglan shot her a glare. “Not a chance.”
With that, she pushed herself up.
“Alright, go on. I’ll take my bath now.”
Amused, Ning Yunshu obediently left the bedroom.
Ye Qinglan enjoyed a long, relaxing soak. After changing into fresh clothes, she finally headed to the living room.
“Feeling a bit more energetic now?” Wei Youning teased as she emerged.
“Mhm.” Ye Qinglan smiled and settled onto the couch.
Ning Yunshu peeked out from the kitchen.
“Dinner’s almost ready. You’re done, sister?”
“Yeah.” Ye Qinglan, who had just sat down, stood again and walked over. “I’ll help serve the dishes.”
“Okay.”
Once the food was laid out, Ye Qinglan noticed unsurprisingly that Ning Yunshu had prepared many of her favorite dishes.
After the meal, they cleaned up the dishes and dining area. With nothing else to do, they gathered in the living room to play King’s Game.
Since they were all close and the cameras were still rolling, none of the questions or dares crossed any lines.
Ye Qinglan had good luck, becoming the king twice in a row. Smirking at the joker card in her hand, she announced,
“Number five, tell number six a little secret about yourself that they don’t know yet.”
Nothing too extreme but this time, the targets were Xu Chaoyang and Du Wenjun.
Du Wenyun smiled and looked at Xu Chaoyang, asking, “Come on, tell me, what little secrets do you have that I don’t know about?”
Xu Chaoyang gave Ye Qinglan a helpless glance. “Did you peek at our cards secretly?”
Ye Qinglan wore an innocent expression. “Now that would be falsely accusing me.”
Du Wenyun then tapped Xu Chaoyang’s chest and said, “What’s the matter? Spill it are you hiding something big from me?”
“Not really,” Xu Chaoyang shook his head, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
“Then what is it?” Du Wenyun pressed curiously.
This instantly piqued everyone’s curiosity. Facing their eager, gossip-filled gazes, Xu Chaoyang felt the pressure mounting.
But under Du Wenyun’s earnest stare, he eventually lowered his head and admitted, “There is something.”
“What is it?” Du Wenyun urged.
Xu Chaoyang sighed helplessly before meeting her eyes. “Back then, ever since you first struck up a conversation with me… I’ve always liked you.”
“Wow!”
Hearing such explosive news, the others’ eyes lit up, their glances darting between Du Wenyun and Xu Chaoyang.
Du Wenyun was clearly taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter.
Xu Chaoyang looked at her helplessly, but Du Wenyun didn’t care whether cameras were rolling, she leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“Mhm, I figured.”
Xu Chaoyang looked surprised. “How did you?”
Du Wenyun tilted her chin up proudly. “Come on, I’m practically a veteran in the entertainment industry. Your acting was so green back then every emotion was written all over your face. How could I not notice?”
Xu Chaoyang rubbed the tip of his nose sheepishly.
The others, now privy to this bombshell, wanted to pry for more details, but Xu Chaoyang refused to say another word.
Eventually, they relented and let him off the hook.
But Xu Chaoyang clearly had no intention of returning the favor. When he drew the joker card and grinned at the group, they all grew nervous, repeatedly checking their own cards.
“Hmm… let me think.” Xu Chaoyang deliberately drew out his words, his gaze sweeping over their faces.
“Number three, tell number five what you most want to say to them.”
Ye Qinglan glanced at the number three card in her hand, her lips twitching, then looked at Ning Yunshu beside her. Sure enough, Ning Yunshu wore a resigned expression, and when Ye Qinglan saw her flip over her card, it was number five.
Ye Qinglan turned to Xu Chaoyang. “Sister Xu, how did you know it would be us?”
Xu Chaoyang blinked mischievously. “That’s a secret.”
“I bet Qinglan has something she wants to say to Little President Ning, right?”
Instantly, the curious stares shifted to Ye Qinglan and Ning Yunshu.
Even Ning Yunshu gazed at Ye Qinglan expectantly.
Ye Qinglan had no choice but to comply. She looked at Ning Yunshu solemnly.
“If I must say something…”
Everyone’s hearts hung in suspense, wondering if Ye Qinglan would say what they were all hoping for.
Even Ning Yunshu tensed up. Though she knew Ye Qinglan wouldn’t say anything too revealing on the show… what if?
Under their eager gazes, Ye Qinglan finally spoke.
She reached out and ruffled Ning Yunshu’s hair before saying, “All these years alone abroad you’ve worked hard.”
Ning Yunshu froze for a moment, while the others let out disappointed sighs.
“Is that really all? How anticlimactic!” Wei Youning’s face was full of disappointment at not hearing the answer she wanted.
Xu Chaoyang pressed further: “That’s it?”
Ye Qinglan blinked and countered, “What else were you expecting?”
Xu Chaoyang: “…”
She’d been outplayed! Ye Qinglan had tricked her into revealing her trump card, while effortlessly deflecting the question she’d agonized over.
What a rip-off!
