The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 46
After assisting the police with their investigation and seeing them off, Ning Yunshu turned to the staff members.
“Given what happened, is there still a need to proceed with tomorrow’s filming?”
The staff hesitated, but Fang Qiang, who had just finished coordinating with the police, walked over and addressed everyone, “I’m very sorry, everyone. In light of this incident, we will fully cooperate with the police investigation. Considering yesterday’s events, we’ve decided to cancel tomorrow’s shoot. Once the police conclude their investigation, I’ll notify everyone accordingly.”
No one disagreed with Fang Qiang’s decision.
After all, such a major incident had left everyone unsettled. Combined with the fact that the livestream had remained on, the situation was already spreading rapidly. All parties involved needed a proper and reasonable resolution. Under these circumstances, halting the shoot was undoubtedly the best course of action.
Ning Yunshu nodded. “So that means we’re free to leave now, right?”
“Yes. If you haven’t arranged accommodations yet, you’re welcome to stay here another night,” Fang Qiang replied.
“That’s all right. I’ve already booked a hotel. We’ll pack our things and leave shortly,” Ning Yunshu said directly.
She then glanced at Ye Qinglan. “Sister, let’s go pack first.”
“Mm.” Ye Qinglan nodded before turning to Wei Youning. “Wei-jie, what about you?”
“I won’t be staying either. Youyou, let’s go pack. Which hotel did you book?” Wei Youning asked.
“I’ll reserve a room for you as well. What about you, Teacher Jiang Can?” Ning Yunshu turned to Jiang Can.
Jiang Can smiled. “Then we’ll trouble President Ning to book one for us too.”
“Alright.” Without sparing Bai Qian and her mother a single glance, Ning Yunshu turned and headed upstairs, making it clear she had no intention of helping them.
The group returned to their rooms to pack, then gathered their luggage and prepared to leave. Ning Yunshu called two cars, and soon they were ready to depart.
“President Ning!” Bai Qian hurried forward to stop her.
Ning Yunshu’s brow furrowed slightly, but she still turned to look.
“What is it?”
Bai Qian bit her lip. “Could you book a room for us too?”
Hearing this, not just Ning Yunshu but everyone else looked at Bai Qian with changed expressions.
Ning Yunshu’s tone remained indifferent. “As far as I recall, Miss Bai has her own agency and manager. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to arrange accommodations for you.”
With that, she placed Ye Qinglan’s suitcase in the car and pulled her inside.
The other four naturally had no desire to engage with Bai Qian either and quickly boarded the cars, following Ning Yunshu’s lead.
The hotel they booked was another luxury inn in the small town. Given how late it was, none of them had the energy to discuss the previous night’s events further. After exchanging brief goodbyes, they took their keys and retired to their rooms for an early rest.
After such an exhausting day, Ye Qinglan was completely drained. She barely managed to take a shower before stumbling out, too tired to even dry her hair, ready to collapse into bed. It wasn’t until Ning Yunshu finished her own shower and found her nearly asleep against the headboard that she quickly shook her awake.
“Sister, don’t sleep yet. If your hair isn’t dry, you’ll have a headache tomorrow.”
Ye Qinglan blinked groggily and pouted. “Don’t wanna dry it!”
Ning Yunshu sighed helplessly. “Then let me dry your hair for you, okay?”
“Mmm…” Ye Qinglan responded, but was clearly on the verge of falling asleep.
Ning Yunshu quickly supported her to sit upright, saying, “Hold on a bit, sister. Let me dry your hair first.”
With that, she took the hairdryer and began carefully drying Ye Qinglan’s hair.
At this moment, Ye Qinglan was unusually docile, sitting still as Ning Yunshu tended to her hair.
After meticulously drying every strand, Ning Yunshu glanced sideways to find Ye Qinglan had already closed her eyes in sleep.
She couldn’t help but laugh and sigh at the same time.
Gently laying her back on the bed and tucking her under the thin blanket, Ning Yunshu took the hairdryer into the bathroom.
When she finished and came out, she saw Ye Qinglan had curled the blanket into a ball, hugging it tightly in peaceful slumber. Tiptoeing to the other side of the bed, she turned off the lights and scooted closer, wrapping her arms around both Ye Qinglan and the bundled blanket.
“Goodnight, sister.”
The night passed with sweet dreams.
Ye Qinglan slept until past ten in the morning. Waking to find Ning Yunshu absent from the room, she instinctively grabbed her phone to call her.
“Sister, you’re awake?” The call connected immediately, Ning Yunshu’s gentle voice sounding in her ear.
“Mmm.” Ye Qinglan’s voice still carried traces of sleepiness. “Where are you?”
“Downstairs. Sister Wei and Teacher Jiang Can are here too. Would you like to come down for some food?”
“Alright.” Covering a yawn, Ye Qinglan sat up. “Let me freshen up first.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
After hanging up, Ye Qinglan went to the bathroom to wash up, emerging much more awake. Phone in hand, she descended the stairs to find the group gathered around the dining table. Spotting her arrival, Ning Yunshu immediately went to the kitchen and brought out the reheated breakfast.
“Sister, come eat.”
“Okay.” Ye Qinglan acknowledged before greeting Wei Youning, Jiang Can, and the others.
“You look well-rested. Slept good last night?” Wei Youning observed with a smile.
“Yes, quite well.” Ye Qinglan accepted the soy milk Ning Yunshu handed her and took a sip.
“That’s good. Youyou was so angry she barely slept all night,” Wei Youning chuckled.
“Oh?” Ye Qinglan turned to Xu Youyou, finding the young girl puffing her cheeks like an irritated squirrel.
“What’s wrong? Did Youyou lose something?”
Xu Youyou complained, “A card went missing, but what’s worse is those thieves wrinkled the T-shirt you signed for me while rummaging! How outrageous!”
Hearing this, even Ye Qinglan found the situation both amusing and exasperating.
“It should be fine after ironing. If not, I’ll sign another one for you.”
At these words, Xu Youyou’s expression brightened considerably.
“I’m just mad about the principle! Who expects thieves these days? Thankfully there was only five hundred left on that card,” Xu Youyou pouted.
“Or I’d be even more heartbroken.”
Wei Youning looked at her in surprise. “Where’s the rest of your money?”
Xu Youyou rubbed her nose. “I put it in funds. These five hundred are my living expenses.”
Wei Youning: “?”
Wei Youning: “You invested all of it?!”
Xu Youyou cleared her throat. “It wasn’t much to begin with. And it’s currently in the green.”
Wei Youning said expressionlessly, “I’m telling Auntie when we get back.”
Xu Youyou immediately wailed, “Noooo! My dearest sister!”
Their antics soon had the whole table laughing.
Ning Yunshu spoke up first, “What kind of fund? I can take a look for you.”
“You’re the best, Sister Ning!” Xu Youyou immediately responded sweetly.
“Then I’ll save Sister Ning and Teacher Ye’s contact info.” Xu Youyou eagerly took out her phone.
“Sure,” Ye Qinglan agreed generously, and since Ning Yunshu had already offered to help with the fund, she naturally didn’t refuse either.
Soon, the three of them had added each other as friends.
“Speaking of which, has there been any news from the police about last night’s incident?” Ye Qinglan asked.
“They’re still investigating. It should take a day or two. Fang Qiang has already issued a statement, fully cooperating with the police investigation. Next, it’s our turn,” Wei Youning said. “I’ve already had my agent release a statement. Qinglan, don’t forget to do the same with Teacher Jiang.”
“Mm, I’ve already had Qin Yun contact my sister’s agent. No need to worry,” Ning Yunshu said.
Ye Qinglan tilted her head to look at her. “That’s my agent, isn’t it? You’re quick to give orders—aren’t you afraid Xiao Wenjin will come after you?”
Ning Yunshu smiled. “I contacted Sister Qin Yun right when it happened and gave her instructions. Otherwise, do you think your phone would be this quiet right now?”
“Oh, right.” Only then did Ye Qinglan realize that, under normal circumstances, Ke Ying should have called her the moment the incident occurred last night, instead of letting her sleep peacefully until morning.
Though, given how sudden everything had been, she had forgotten about it too.
Jiang Can also smiled. “I’ll issue a statement on my end as well. Don’t worry.”
“That’s good.” Wei Youning first sighed in relief, then turned to Ye Qinglan with an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry, Qinglan. I invited you here, only for such a big incident to happen. It’s delayed you and President Ning.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “Not at all. We were happy to revisit this place together.”
Wei Youning glanced between the two of them and grinned. “Well then, I’ll look forward to when I can drink at your wedding.”
Ye Qinglan’s face instantly flushed red. “Don’t talk nonsense, Sister Wei. I haven’t agreed yet!”
Wei Youning smirked. “No rush. I’ve got plenty of time to wait.”
“Sister Wei!” Ye Qinglan huffed lightly.
“Alright, alright, just teasing.” Wei Youning quickly waved her hands.
Ye Qinglan then turned to Ning Yunshu, who was gazing at her with hopeful eyes, and curled her lips. “Some people still have more work to do.”
“I’ll definitely put in the effort. Really,” Ning Yunshu hurriedly promised.
The group burst into laughter.
After breakfast, everyone decided to head home. Ning Yunshu contacted Qin Yun to pick them up, and by the time they carried their luggage downstairs, Qin Yun was already waiting.
Once the luggage was loaded, they drove back to S City.
The news had spread like wildfire, and even Lin Xuesong and Yun Xi couldn’t help but ask about the two of them. When they heard that only some money had been lost and that no one was hurt, they visibly relaxed.
Ke Ying finally called Ye Qinglan after issuing the statement.
“I’ve had the bank freeze your cards for now. I’ll transfer you some money to use in the meantime. Once they catch the culprit, we’ll unfreeze them,” Ke Ying said.
Ye Qinglan chuckled. “No need, Sister Ke. I’ll just use Ning Yunshu’s.”
Ke Ying just felt a toothache coming on: “Fine, fine, do as you please. Just cooperate if the police contact you these next couple days, and try to stay out of the public eye otherwise. Understood?”
“I got it, don’t worry, Sister Ke.”
But Ke Ying wasn’t reassured. She nagged a few more times before finally hanging up. The moment the call ended, Ye Qinglan pouted.
“I’ve figured out why Sister Ke is losing her hair.”
“What?” Ning Yunshu asked instinctively.
“Because she nags too much.”
