The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 26
The crisp sound of the alarm pierced through the dimly lit room, pulling Ye Qinglan out of her hazy dreams.
She lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, as if not yet fully awake.
The dream had felt so real, so real that she could still feel the lingering warmth of Ning Yunshu’s kisses on her skin.
After a long moment, she raised her hand to cover her eyes, trying to dispel the lingering fantasies in her heart.
Taking a moment to compose herself, Ye Qinglan got up and headed to the bathroom. By the time she emerged, she had freshened up and regained her usual composure.
It was still early, so she casually checked her phone.
[Ning Yunshu]: Good morning, sis! I’ve returned to S City—didn’t have time to say goodbye in person. Keep up the great work on set!
Ye Qinglan froze for a moment. She hadn’t expected Ning Yunshu to leave so soon. Though she had only stayed for a day, the time they had actually spent together was pitifully short.
She began to miss the days when they were still at home, when she could indulge in Ning Yunshu’s company without restraint.
Pressing her lips together, she typed a reply.
[Ye Qinglan]: Got it. Be safe on the road, and send me a message when you arrive.
Ning Yunshu replied almost instantly.
[Ning Yunshu]: Will do! Don’t worry, sis. Did you just wake up? Go grab some breakfast!
[Ye Qinglan]: Mm, I’ll go now.
[Ning Yunshu]: Alright~ You’ve got this, sis!
As she read the brief exchange, the tenderness in Ye Qinglan’s eyes seemed to melt into something softer. Reluctantly, she tucked her phone away and stepped out of the room.
Zhou Tiantian happened to come by just then to fetch her. Seeing that Ye Qinglan was already up, she blinked in surprise. “Sis Ye, you’re awake?”
“Mm,” Ye Qinglan responded.
Zhou Tiantian studied her for a moment. “Did you not sleep well?”
The memory of last night’s dream made Ye Qinglan’s ears burn. She cleared her throat lightly. “I slept fine. Let’s go grab breakfast and head to the set.”
“Got it,” Zhou Tiantian replied.
The two had breakfast at the hotel’s cafeteria before making their way to the filming location.
Xu Su had arrived early and was directing the crew to set up the scene. When she spotted Ye Qinglan, she waved her over.
Ye Qinglan approached and greeted her.
“Good morning, Director Xu.”
“Morning,” Xu Su replied with a smile. “Qinglan, you’ve got a lot of key scenes coming up, so make sure to stay focused.”
Ye Qinglan understood that this was a well-meaning reminder. She nodded humbly. “Don’t worry, Director Xu.”
Xu Su gave an approving nod. “Alright, go get ready. We’ll start soon.”
“Understood.”
Ning Yunshu’s departure had no impact on the production. Ye Qinglan quickly settled back into her routine—dedicated filming during the day and chatting with Ning Yunshu at night.
Except now, instead of exchanging texts, they had switched to phone calls—thanks to Ning Yunshu’s relentless coaxing.
“Ah, finally finished all my work! Now I can hand things over to the professional agents,” Ning Yunshu sighed dramatically, her voice laced with a hint of acting cute.
Ye Qinglan applied her skincare as she replied, “Isn’t that good? You can take a proper break now.”
“But resting isn’t fun without you around,” Ning Yunshu muttered under her breath.
Ye Qinglan chuckled. “What, do you want me to quit filming and come home to keep you company?”
“No way, I can’t let my sister’s career be delayed because of me. I just miss you, but I can hold on a little longer,” Ning Yunshu quickly retorted.
“Just hang in there a bit more. The filming is going smoothly, and it’ll be over in about half a month,” Ye Qinglan reassured her.
“Sister,” Ning Yunshu suddenly called out.
“What is it?” Ye Qinglan paused what she was doing and turned to look at her phone screen, as if she could see Ning Yunshu through it.
“After this movie wraps up, do you have any other plans?” Ning Yunshu asked cautiously.
“No,” Ye Qinglan replied, then hesitated, recalling the careful tone in Ning Yunshu’s voice. She added, “Ning Yunshu, you don’t have to be so cautious when talking to me from now on.”
“But…”
Ye Qinglan could still hear the hesitation in Ning Yunshu’s voice.
She sighed softly. “Ning Yunshu, if I were still angry with you or holding onto the past, I wouldn’t even be on the phone with you right now.”
On the other end of the line, Ning Yunshu seemed stunned for a long moment before finally laughing. “Yeah, I should’ve realized that sooner.”
Ye Qinglan sounded a little helpless. “Ning Yunshu, don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Once you have some free time, take a good rest. You can also visit my parents—they miss you a lot.”
“Mm, okay!” Ning Yunshu’s voice regained its usual energy.
“Speaking of which, are Aunt Yun and Uncle Ning still abroad?” Ye Qinglan suddenly asked.
Ning Yunshu sighed in frustration. “Yes, they’ve disappeared again. They just dumped the company on me and vanished to who-knows-where to enjoy themselves.”
“Director Xu even said he wanted to meet my mom, but now we have no idea where they are.”
Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but laugh. “That’s just like Aunt Yun and Uncle Ning. Honestly, I wish my parents would travel too, but they always say they’re not retired yet and will wait until then.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “That’s easy. Once my parents come back, I’ll have them drag Aunt Lin and Uncle Ye along. They have more to talk about among themselves—we’d just be in the way.”
“You’re right,” Ye Qinglan agreed. Finishing her skincare routine, she stood up. “Alright, I should get some sleep. You should rest early too.”
“Okay, sister, sleep well. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
After hanging up, Ye Qinglan lay in bed, closing her eyes.
Half a month left…
She missed Ning Yunshu too.
Missing her was one thing, but the movie still had to be filmed. The only way they could meet sooner was if the shoot wrapped up early.
The days passed routinely until the final day of filming.
Amidst cheers, Ye Qinglan finally felt the weight lift off her shoulders, exhaling deeply in relief.
It was over at last. The past month had felt like a retreat, filming had progressed quickly, even finishing three days ahead of Director Xu’s schedule.
“Ah, finally done. If this had gone on any longer, my old bones would’ve given out,” Du Wenjun sighed dramatically as he sat nearby.
“Yeah,” Xu Chaoyang walked over, handing bottles of water to both Du Wenjun and Ye Qinglan.
“Thank you, Sister Xu,” Ye Qinglan expressed her gratitude before turning to Du Wenyun. “Teacher Du, didn’t your scenes wrap up days ago? Why are you still here?”
Du Wenyun smiled, casting a glance at Xu Chaoyang before playfully winking at Ye Qinglan. “Guess.”
Baffled, Ye Qinglan noticed Xu Chaoyang’s resigned expression as he looked at Du Wenyun and explained, “Teacher Wenyun has always been unpredictable.”
“Teacher Wenyun…” Ye Qinglan unconsciously repeated the term, then suddenly comprehended, staring at them both in shock.
“You two…?”
The pair responded with mysterious smiles.
Never would Ye Qinglan have imagined that these two, who usually behaved like familiar colleagues, were actually a couple? They’d hidden it so well!
Still reeling from this unexpected revelation, Ye Qinglan remained dazed throughout the wrap party until Director Xu, unable to ignore her state, cleared his throat. “Ahem, Qinglan, what’s on your mind?”
Snapped back to attention, Ye Qinglan hurriedly replied, “N-nothing.”
Assuming she was still thinking about Ning Yunshu, Director Xu said, “I didn’t inform Ning Yunshu about our early wrap.” He gave Ye Qinglan a meaningful look.
Blushing furiously as she grasped his implication, Ye Qinglan stammered, “I…” After hesitating, she finally said, “I understand. Thank you, Director Xu.”
Xu Su patted her shoulder before walking away, muttering, “Young people these days…”
Ye Qinglan rubbed her nose silently.
The late-night wrap party made returning to S City impractical and unsafe, so Ye Qinglan and her team decided to rest at the hotel overnight before heading back the next day.
Since Director Xu had helped keep the secret, Ye Qinglan decided to take advantage of the situation. When Ning Yunshu asked that evening, she claimed they still needed two or three more days.
Expecting disappointment, she was surprised when Ning Yunshu sounded relieved. “That’s good. I actually have a business trip these two days.”
Hearing this, Ye Qinglan felt a pang of disappointment—her planned surprise foiled by Ning Yunshu’s travel plans. Sighing internally, she noticed something unusual about Ning Yunshu’s voice. “Alright, I understand. But… are you coming down with a cold?” she asked worriedly.
“Uh… yes, a little,” Ning Yunshu replied hesitantly.
“Make sure to take medicine,” Ye Qinglan urged. “Don’t overwork yourself, even on a business trip.”
“I know. Don’t worry, sister. I’m fine.”
With a resigned tone, Ye Qinglan said, “Alright, get some rest and recover soon.”
“Goodnight, sister.”
“Goodnight.”
Ending the call unusually early left Ye Qinglan wide awake, her concern for Ning Yunshu keeping her restless all night.
The next morning, Zhou Tiantian was startled by her appearance. “Sister Ye, what happened to you?”
“Just didn’t sleep well,” Ye Qinglan waved it off. “Let’s go.”
“Will you be heading to the company or…?” Zhou Tiantian inquired.
“Home first. Tell Sister Ke I’ll take a day off to rest,” Ye Qinglan said, yawning.
“Got it,” Zhou Tiantian responded before driving all the way from City A back to Ye Qinglan’s apartment in City S.
After bidding Zhou Tiantian farewell and stepping into the elevator, Ye Qinglan was so exhausted she could barely keep her eyes open. When the elevator finally reached her floor, she pressed her hand against the keypad lock. The crisp electronic beep of the door unlocking was followed instantly by an overwhelming wave of milky sweetness.
For a moment, it left Ye Qinglan dizzy and disoriented.
This wasn’t just the scent of ordinary milk candy—it was unmistakably the pheromones of an Alpha. As an Omega, her body quickly grew restless under the influence of the scent.
And in her home, there was only one person who could be emitting this fragrance.
Without stopping to question why Ning Yunshu had lied about going on a business trip, she slammed the front door shut and rushed to the guest room, throwing it open with a forceful push.
“Ning Yunshu!”
