- Chapter 9 - Infatuated and Confused
If he truly remembered, then would he not know everything I did to him last night?
After realizing this, Li Sichen was scared half to death. His body stiffened, he dared not move, and his mind became a chaotic mess.
“System, did you not tell me he would not remember anything? What is going on now?”
The little blue ball appeared equally bewildered.
“It should not be wrong. My data analysis cannot be wrong. It must be some other reason,” Xiao Lan said solemnly.
Li Sichen could not listen to its hollow excuses. The situation was urgent. Yu Huaixin pressed his body against Li Sichen’s back, and his warm breath lingered by his ear like the most intoxicating poison in the world, sweet and alluring yet fatal.
“Xiao Chen, do not ignore me. Hold me.”
The system suddenly issued a notification. Based on the blood sample test, the components of Falling Nether were identified, and an antidote formula was provided.
The notification appeared, and in the next second, a data sheet analyzing the various components of Falling Nether appeared in Li Sichen’s consciousness. It clearly listed the ingredients of the poison and their corresponding antidotes in great detail.
Because of his earlier mistake, Li Sichen had accidentally injured Yu Huaixin, but he had unexpectedly obtained the recipe for the antidote. It was a blessing in disguise since this was exactly what he needed most.
The sheet stated that three items were required to create the antidote for Falling Nether: a jar of seawater from the Sea of No Delusion, a Ghost Suppressing Pearl from the Nether Realm, and a drop of Heart Spring water from a Supreme Venerable of the Immortal Realm. These three items corresponded to Cutting Thoughts, Returning the Soul, and Clearing the Heart. None could be omitted. Combining these three would create the cure.
However, none of these items sounded easy to obtain.
The system automatically analyzed the locations for the antidote components and suggested that the Host first increase his cultivation level.
So, how much longer would the Falling Nether in Yu Huaixin’s body have to wait to be cured? Why did things feel like they were getting more and more complicated?
Li Sichen tried his best to control his breathing, but he was still trembling. He turned around and picked up Yu Huaixin’s slender body. His heart ached when he saw the blood faintly staining the gaps between the man’s snow white toes.
Yu Huaixin naturally wrapped his arms around Li Sichen’s neck, and his beautiful light colored eyes remained fixed on Li Sichen’s own without wavering for a second.
Li Sichen felt a bit embarrassed by the gaze and looked away. Even after he gently placed Yu Huaixin on the bed, the hands around his neck refused to let go.
Li Sichen had no choice but to firmly grasp Yu Huaixin’s hands and remove them from his neck. However, in the next second, Yu Huaixin suddenly exerted force. Li Sichen was completely unprepared, and by the time he reacted, he was being kissed forcefully.
At that moment, Li Sichen’s mind went blank.
Yu Huaixin kissed him with total devotion, his eyes were half closed, and his eyelashes trembled occasionally. He seemed intoxicated, as if he were tasting the most beautiful thing in the world.
Time passed second by second, yet it felt as if it had frozen between them. Li Sichen unconsciously drowned in the tenderness the other man offered and found it difficult to pull himself away.
Under Yu Huaixin’s gentleness, Li Sichen’s rationality gradually blurred. He felt like a puppet completely controlled by strings with every move being beyond his own will.
“This way, it does not seem so painful, Xiao Chen.”
Yu Huaixin’s tone was incredibly gentle, so gentle that Li Sichen briefly lost his reason and became dazed.
However, during the intense kiss, images of Yu Huaixin being humiliated flashed into his mind without warning, like a horror movie he had seen before. Caught off guard, Li Sichen abruptly pushed Yu Huaixin away. He retreated five or six steps and turned his back, unable to stop himself from dry heaving.
The humiliation Yu Huaixin suffered was real. Everything that had happened to him was real. If Li Sichen truly took advantage of Yu Huaixin now because he could not control his private desires, how would he be any different from the demons who had harmed him?
Li Sichen warned himself over and over that certain lines must never be crossed, no matter how much he actually loved Yu Huaixin. Furthermore, Yu Huaixin was only acting this way because his mind was clouded by the poison. He was doing things he was not even aware of, either self harming or choosing a way to dull the pain in a daze.
What if he regained his clarity? Would doing all this with him be his true intention? Yu Huaixin would likely be unwilling, perhaps even feel disgusted, and might end up hating him for it.
At this thought, Li Sichen’s heart grew more determined. Things that should not be done must not be done. The most important task now was to find those three items and make the antidote as soon as possible.
It took Li Sichen a long time to mentally prepare himself. He gathered his courage and turned back toward the bed. Yu Huaixin was lying there in a disheveled state with his white hair scattered and some of it trailing over the edge of the bed. His eyes were tightly shut, his brow was furrowed, and his hands were unconsciously scratching at his bloodshot neck. He seemed to be enduring immense agony.
Li Sichen stepped forward, pulled Yu Huaixin into his arms, and slowly bound the man’s hands with a hair ribbon. He lowered his head to kiss Yu Huaixin’s forehead and comforted him, saying, “It is alright, it will pass soon. I am here.”
I will not let you suffer bullying like you did before, and I certainly will not become a part of this sin.
“Xiao Chen, you truly are” different from before.
But how could one be sure this was not just another disguise from a predator? After all, in the past, he had been deceived until he had nothing left.
Once a decision is made to stop trusting someone, no matter how much effort that person puts in, it is all in vain. In the past, Yu Huaixin had been hurt so badly by Li Sichen. His sincere feelings were betrayed and discarded. As the person closest to him, Li Sichen had personally dragged him from his pedestal into the abyss.
When Yu Huaixin experienced those things alone, who knew of his helplessness and despair? No one cared at all.
