- The Master Possessed An Innate Charm, Irresistibly Seducing His Young Disciple
- Chapter 6 - Losing Composure Before Him
“I heard of Fairy Qinglan’s reputation long ago. Her compassion is what I have admired most. If Fairy Qinglan were here today, I think she would certainly not be so aggressive.”
Li Sichen’s voice was not loud, but these soft words were enough to make Gu Fuyin’s heart skip a beat. Unlike Li Sichen’s reaction earlier, this was not due to love; it was because his darkest and most hidden secret had been pried open.
Gu Fuyin’s gaze instantly turned icy as he glared at Li Sichen. “You know of her? I would like to hear exactly how much you know.”
“I do not know much. I only know that Fairy Qinglan was kind and generous and possessed extraordinary talent. However, her passing was a great tragedy and a deep regret.”
“Heh, fine.” Gu Fuyin no longer hid his cold sneer. He walked toward Li Sichen step by step and met his gaze.
He spoke each word with deliberate emphasis. “I will investigate today’s matter thoroughly to give Huaixin justice. However, I find myself much more interested in you now, Li Sichen. You are indeed a fine disciple trained by Huaixin’s own hand. I look forward to your performance during the disciple trials in three days.”
After saying this, Gu Fuyin did not detain them further. “Dismissed,” he said coldly.
Yu Huaixin looked somewhat puzzled. He clearly did not understand why Gu Fuyin had suddenly allowed them to leave, especially after just insisting that the matter was significant and had to be clarified.
After bowing, the master and disciple walked out of the palace side by side.
Li Sichen looked down at the long row of stone steps. Walking beside a conscious Yu Huaixin made him feel exceptionally stiff, so he bowed and tried to find an excuse to separate from him. Continuing like this with Yu Huaixin was simply too uncomfortable.
Unexpectedly, Yu Huaixin reached out and gently supported Li Sichen’s arm while offering him a tender smile. “Is Xiao Chen going to have a meal? I shall go with you. It so happens I have some matters I wish to ask you about.”
“Oh, cough. What does Master wish to ask? I can answer you right now.”
In Li Sichen’s consciousness, the little blue ball was clutching its stomach and laughing hysterically. It was the first time it had seen someone formerly so arrogant and sharp tongued act so submissive and lost before another person. The contrast was hilarious and satisfying.
“There is no rush. Asking questions is secondary. I only just realized that Xiao Chen has suddenly matured a great deal. I did not notice it before, which makes me feel I have cared for you far too little. I wish to make up for it. Since there is nothing to do today, I want to accompany you for a meal. Do you not like that, Xiao Chen?”
“Not at all,” Li Sichen blurted out in denial.
However, the word “agree” stayed stuck in his throat. Although he believed his feelings for Yu Huaixin were perfectly pure and intended only to help him, the thought of their intimacy the night before made Li Sichen feel as if his heart had been stolen.
“Xiao Chen, do not.”
“Xiao Chen.”
“Xiao Chen.”
“Master.” The tips of Li Sichen’s ears turned a suspicious shade of crimson, and his breathing grew slightly heavy.
It was not until Yu Huaixin touched his forehead and asked, “Is Xiao Chen sick?” that Li Sichen snapped back to reality.
Realizing his loss of composure, he quickly retreated to maintain a distance of one meter from Yu Huaixin while feeling mortified. It was a pity the disciple uniforms had short sleeves for manual labor; otherwise, Li Sichen would have used wide sleeves to hide his face. He could only hope Yu Huaixin had not noticed his state.
“I am fine! Do not worry about me, Master!”
Li Sichen answered decisively, so Yu Huaixin did not press further. He simply stepped closer and, under Li Sichen’s nervous gaze, gently took hold of Li Sichen’s sweaty hand.
“We are master and disciple. Why be so formal? Let us go.”
Li Sichen felt a sense of despair because he realized he could not escape after all.
They walked side by side, his hand still held by Yu Huaixin. He originally wanted to keep some distance, but he did not know how to bring it up.
“Master, what did you want to ask me earlier?”
“The Sect Leader said you had evidence to hand over today. May I know what those items are? Xiao Chen?”
Noticing Li Sichen seemed wrong and looked quite nervous, Yu Huaixin could not help but worry.
Li Sichen snapped out of it and immediately denied it. “He was talking nonsense. There was no such thing.”
His denial was resolute.
This disrespectful remark actually made Yu Huaixin laugh. He did not blame Li Sichen for speaking rudely of the Sect Leader because he believed that he and Li Sichen were on the same side. It was a relationship of the utmost intimacy that did not require unnecessary formalities. Even if Li Sichen spoke ill of others to his face, Yu Huaixin would only find him adorable.
“Very well. I know that Xiao Chen is always on my side and will never betray me. This matter is indeed as you say; just the idle talk of others.”
As Yu Huaixin spoke in a protective tone, he reached up to stroke Li Sichen’s cheek with a gaze filled with unmistakable affection.
Li Sichen stared blankly at the scene while his heart raced for him once again. He felt that there would never be anyone in the world more gentle or lovely than Yu Huaixin.
When people are extremely happy, they often think of unresolved and negative things, and Li Sichen was no exception. Thinking of such a beautiful person and the pain and despair he suffered in the original story made Li Sichen feel miserable. He wanted to flatten everyone who had bullied Yu Huaixin and use them as floor mats.
“Master, why did you not refuse when he asked you to test your blood earlier? What if he actually found out?”
“Found out? Could it be that Xiao Chen truly already knows my identity?”
Li Sichen did not expect Yu Huaixin to ask a counter question and did not know how to answer. If it were anyone else, he might argue back, but this was Yu Huaixin. He was going to find out. If he asks how I know, what do I say? That I have been secretly watching traumatic memories every night? How do I explain that it was actually the previous me who did it and that it has nothing to do with current me? That our souls are different? Ridiculous! No one with a brain would believe that nonsense.
“Do not be angry, Xiao Chen. I did not mean to hide it from you all these years.”
Li Sichen was stunned. Was this really happening? Yu Huaixin was actually apologizing to him? This was crazy!
“If Xiao Chen is truly upset, then tonight, I shall”
Before Yu Huaixin could finish, he was unceremoniously interrupted by a disciple walking toward them from a distance.
