- The Master Possessed An Innate Charm, Irresistibly Seducing His Young Disciple
- Chapter 21 - Confessions of the Heart
Under the system’s vivid description, images of Yu Huaixin began to drift through Li Sichen’s mind. He imagined how Yu Huaixin looked back then, the way his body changed under the influence of the enchantment, and how he lay languidly on the soft bed.
Li Sichen dared not imagine any further. It was absolutely wretched.
“I will never use that sub system in my life. You have no business here anymore. You can leave!”
The little blue sphere looked a bit disappointed. “Fine then. Call me if you need anything, Host. Actually, you really could consider it. Hehe.”
Li Sichen finally reached his breaking point and exploded. “Get out!”
During the time Yu Huaixin was unconscious, Li Sichen stayed by his side constantly. He used his immortal techniques to help regulate Yu Huaixin’s internal energy so he could recover more quickly.
Li Sichen was not a soul from this world, so he was used to eating every day. However, he had no food with him and had to attempt inedia. Although the empty feeling in his stomach was uncomfortable, he was certain he would not starve to death.
That night, Li Sichen lit the two remaining red candles in the room. Under the flickering candlelight, Yu Huaixin’s face took on a hazy, ethereal quality. His slender face looked unmistakably haggard. Even in sleep, his long brows were slightly knit. They say that the expressions shown while unconscious represent a person’s true state of mind, free from any performance or pretense.
But why was Yu Huaixin’s true state of mind so filled with sorrow?
Logically, before everything went wrong, Yu Huaixin loved to smile. At Moxiang Peak and throughout the entire cultivation world, he held a position of high prestige and respect. Everyone loved and honored him. He had raised a very sensible little disciple and shared every joyful thing he encountered with him. Sometimes, when he was having fun, he would even skip around like a child.
How could he have changed into a completely different person? Although he still smiled, there was always a subtle sense of disharmony in the details.
The candlelight flickered more intensely. Simultaneously, Yu Huaixin’s brow furrowed even deeper. Li Sichen did not know what was happening, but he instinctively gripped one of Yu Huaixin’s hands. He raised his other hand to gently smooth the creases between Yu Huaixin’s brows.
Watching Yu Huaixin’s breathing gradually stabilize, Li Sichen let out a sigh of relief. A silly, infatuated smile unknowingly crept onto his face. Then, he thought back to what the system had told him during the day.
“You have definitely fallen for him! You just won’t admit it! You stubborn brat!”
Although Li Sichen was still unwilling to admit it, he could not help but laugh out loud at the memory of those words. He tightened his grip on Yu Huaixin’s hand and leaned down to bring his face closer. He wanted to see every inch of Yu Huaixin’s skin clearly so he could memorize his face.
“I am sorry,” Li Sichen whispered. “I know you would not blame me, but I simply cannot forgive myself. Yu Huaixin, we are not from the same world, but after seeing what you went through before, I really want to help you. The system said this is not a mission I must complete, but to me, it is. I have to save you. I must save you.”
“I, Li Sichen, am certainly not some great person, nor am I a hero who punishes evil and promotes good. But for some reason, whenever you suffer, I just cannot stand it. Does that mean I have truly fallen for you? I suppose I cannot be sure. After all, everyone in this world appreciates beauty. Maybe I have just fallen for your face, and that is why I had those shameful thoughts and did those things to you.”
At this point, Li Sichen felt truly wretched deep in his heart. If he had been more firm in his resolve back then, perhaps it would not have happened.
“I promised to save you and protect you, yet in the end, I still hurt you. Do not worry. Once I find everything needed to neutralize the poison, I will return to my own world. You will stay here and live a normal life. No more Poison of the Netherworld, no more of that bastard disciple. Just live well.”
Li Sichen suddenly gasped. He pressed both hands against his heart, feeling as if tens of thousands of needles were stabbing into it. A wave of cold washed over him, as if he had been shoved into a freezer in the middle of summer.
Li Sichen had experienced this sensation a long time ago, but it had never been this severe. At most, it had felt like a tiny prick that vanished by the time he finished a yawn. He had no idea it would grow this painful. It had happened when he first arrived in Basi Town and again during the ghost marriage illusion.
After about fifteen minutes, the pain finally vanished. Li Sichen was soaked in sweat and felt completely exhausted. He knelt on one knee beside Yu Huaixin, looking at his peaceful sleeping face. The sense of unease in his heart dissipated significantly.
He became entranced by the face before him. In a moment of sudden impulse, he leaned down and pressed a kiss onto the space between Yu Huaixin’s brows. The kiss was gentle and full of reverence. He pulled away after a moment, lingering as long as he could.
Perhaps Li Sichen was unsure if he truly loved Yu Huaixin, but his affection was genuine. He felt no repulsion based on gender; this was a feeling that perhaps no one else, male or female, could ever give him besides Yu Huaixin. This emotion was both complex and pure.
The night grew deep. Li Sichen climbed onto the bed as quietly as possible. Fearing he might disturb Yu Huaixin, the tall young man awkwardly squeezed himself into the narrow space on the inner side of the bed. He lay on his side to sleep.
He had originally intended to be a gentleman and sleep on the floor. After all, since Yu Huaixin was unconscious, he would not be pulled into the bed. But in the end, his selfish desires won. He simply wanted to be closer to Yu Huaixin. As long as he did nothing bad, it should be fine.
“Yu Huaixin, goodnight.”
