- Chapter 2 - Heart in Turmoil for Him
“Host, please do not be so fierce. It is quite frightening, and I never said I would not help.” Xiao Lan appeared aggrieved.
Li Sichen ignored the system’s affected expression. Given the current dramatic and chaotic situation, he was deeply worried about Yu Huaixin’s condition.
“Do you know how to neutralize this poison, Falling Nether?” Li Sichen asked.
Xiao Lan shook its head. “There are no relevant records of this in the original book, so I have no way to help.”
“Useless.”
“Wuwu, Host, you are scolding me!”
Li Sichen was intent on saving Yu Huaixin from his suffering. Unable to think of a reliable method, he slowly crawled out from under the bed to check on Yu Huaixin’s current state. No matter how unwise this choice seemed, it was better than doing nothing and letting Yu Huaixin continue to suffer. According to the original plot, Yu Huaixin still trusted this disciple at this stage. As long as he fabricated a reason later, he should be able to fool him.
After emerging from under the bed, Li Sichen’s gaze immediately fell upon the bed. Although he had prepared himself mentally, seeing the scene before him caused his heart to race. It was not out of attraction, however.
“Master?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Yu Huaixin slowly turned his head. His narrow phoenix eyes struggled to open slightly, their corners flushed red from the heat. He appeared alluring without even realizing it. Upon realizing who had arrived, Yu Huaixin became flustered and helpless, like a child caught doing something wrong. He felt both aggrieved and afraid, yet he could not stop his movements because they were entirely beyond his control.
“Chen, do not, do not look. It seems your master is ill, Xiao Chen.”
Li Sichen immediately stepped forward and held Yu Huaixin down without explanation. He decisively unfastened his own belt and used it to bind Yu Huaixin’s hands together to prevent him from continuing to harm himself. Seeing Yu Huaixin’s skin scratched until it was a bloody mess of red marks, Li Sichen felt a sharp pang in his chest.
Due to his background, Li Sichen was no stranger to bloody scenes. However, when those naturally gentle eyes gazed at him so pitifully, Li Sichen felt that the person who had harmed Yu Huaixin truly deserved to die. Li Sichen did not know how to solve the current situation, but when he noticed the incense still burning nearby, he kicked it through the window with a clear objective.
He was almost at the point of shouting curses. After removing the poisonous incense, a critical question occurred to him: since it was a poison and the incense had been burning for so long, it was impossible for him to be unaffected. Did the original owner of this body use an antidote beforehand?
Assuming this was a possibility, the action oriented Li Sichen used a knife from the table to cut his arm. He watched as the blood dripped into a white jade cup and then brought it to Yu Huaixin. Regardless of whether Yu Huaixin was willing, he insisted on feeding the blood to him. Afterward, he fumbled with the original abilities of this body and used immortal arts to regulate the flow of immortal energy within Yu Huaixin to make the medicinal effects in the blood take effect as quickly as possible.
I hope this works.
As time passed, Li Sichen grew tired, but Yu Huaixin’s condition showed no sign of improvement. Li Sichen was forced to give up. Aside from the original owner using an antidote, he wondered what else could make him immune to Falling Nether.
The toxins had already invaded his heart. Yu Huaixin wanted to use his hands for relief, but they were tied tightly with the belt and could not move. He wanted to ask Li Sichen to untie them, but seeing how angry Li Sichen looked, he abandoned the thought. He bit his teeth hard to endure the pain while tears fell from his eyes. Yu Huaixin could not endure forever. When the pain became unbearable, he bit his own arm and did not let go even when blood began to flow.
Seeing him in such agony, Li Sichen fell into a dilemma with a furrowed brow and a face full of worry. He looked at the misty bath nearby and thought of another plan. He reached out to hold Yu Huaixin, intending to carry him to the bath to wash away the scent of the incense and perhaps reduce the toxins to make him feel better.
Li Sichen was in good physical condition and carried Yu Huaixin without any effort. However, holding such a person in his arms made him somewhat nervous. At that moment, Yu Huaixin suddenly called his name.
“Xiao Chen.”
“What is it?”
Yu Huaixin gazed at Li Sichen with tearful, beautiful phoenix eyes. He reached out with his bound hands to touch Li Sichen’s cheek, but Li Sichen did not have the courage to look him in the eye.
When he saw Yu Huaixin suffering through various tortures and humiliations in the reflection, his heart ached. Now that he had truly met his gaze for the first time, Li Sichen knew he could never let go of him again. Li Sichen could not accept such a clean and beautiful person falling into the abyss, so he wanted to save and protect him. Perhaps this persistence was not necessarily due to love at first sight or attraction to his beauty. It was simply because he wanted to follow his heart. One look from the other person was enough.
Li Sichen did not deny that he might be attracted to the other person’s exquisite face. He knew he was just a mortal with worldly desires, and there was no need to argue against that. However, Li Sichen could guarantee that he would not be driven by those desires. He remembered his goals and tasks in this world. For Yu Huaixin, he would protect him at all costs.
“It is nothing. I remember when I first found you, you were only a three year old child. Now you have grown so much. My Xiao Chen has become more handsome. Xiao Chen, if I were to die today.”
“Do not talk nonsense!”
Li Sichen stopped Yu Huaixin from continuing his rambling and gave him a firm promise. “You will not die.”
“Xiao Chen.”
Yu Huaixin closed his eyes and obediently tucked his head into the crook of Li Sichen’s neck. Warm tears fell from the corners of his eyes and eventually flowed toward Li Sichen’s heart. Suddenly, this strange fate with the person in his arms began. Li Sichen did not know if this was a blessing or a misfortune.
