- The Master Possessed An Innate Charm, Irresistibly Seducing His Young Disciple
- Chapter 18 - Does Master Have Someone He Likes?
Night had fallen.
The two walked side by side through Luofu Village. The settlement was desolate and eerie. Although the area was thick with trees, the scent of greenery could not mask the overwhelming stench of decay.
Li Sichen had not originally intended to enter the village to complete the mission under such rushed circumstances, especially in the dead of night. However, they had no choice. Upon leaving the wedding hall, they discovered they were already deep within Luofu Village. Since they were already there, it would make little sense not to investigate.
If Li Sichen had previously wondered what kind of terrifying entity the Ghost of Luofu Village might be, the truth had now come to light through a strange twist of fate.
“Wu Minye,” Li Sichen vaguely recalled. That was the name she had spoken.
“Master, do you know of Wu Minye? She is the Ghost of Luofu Village. Every death in this village and the disappearances in the nearby towns were her doing.”
Yu Huaixin looked at Li Sichen with a gentle gaze, his eyes filled with unreserved praise. “Xiao Chen is wonderful. However, your Master has never heard of this person.”
“Master, I am not a child anymore. You really do not have to praise me like that in the future.” Li Sichen felt a flush of embarrassment, akin to a university student being treated like a toddler.
“Very well, your Master understands.” Yu Huaixin finished speaking but suddenly knit his brows, letting out a pained groan as his body swayed unsteadily.
Li Sichen quickly reached out to support him. He could not understand why Yu Huaixin, whose cultivation was by no means weak, currently seemed as fragile as a delicate paper lantern that might shatter with a single gust of wind.
“Master, are you hurting somewhere?” Li Sichen asked with concern.
Yu Huaixin shook his head gently. “It is nothing.”
Despite his words, his eyes were wet with pain. Li Sichen realized that Yu Huaixin was surprisingly stubborn.
“I likely injured my foundation earlier and need a moment to regulate my breath. Do not worry, Xiao Chen.”
Yu Huaixin gazed into Li Sichen’s eyes, speaking in a soft tone as he trustingly leaned the weight of his body into Li Sichen’s arms. “Help your Master sit down first.”
Li Sichen did as he was told. Yu Huaixin then began to focus on meditating to regulate his breathing until his complexion finally returned to normal.
Li Sichen’s gaze, however, remained fixed on that slender waist. The lingering memory of their intimacy was like an addictive poison. Once tasted, there was no cure. Although Li Sichen tried hard to correct his thoughts, silently reciting the Li family rules until his lips were numb, the distraction remained.
The brief interlude soon passed.
“I have heard some rumors about the Ghost of Luofu Village, but very little. I fear I may not be of much help to you, Xiao Chen. But rest assured, as long as I am here, I will protect you,” Yu Huaixin said with a serious expression.
Looking at Yu Huaixin’s exhausted face after his ordeal, Li Sichen felt a deep urge to pull him into his arms and shelter him. To Li Sichen, as long as Yu Huaixin was safe, he could not dare to dream of being protected by him.
“Master, do not worry! We will not encounter any danger.”
Li Sichen suddenly thought back to the recent illusion, that grand and malicious ghost marriage. He had fought with all his might to escape the villagers who tried to kill him, sustaining many injuries. Before his escape, he had overheard fragments of information from the crowd.
They had mentioned his lowly status and a certain highborn Miss Wu.
Wu?
Li Sichen had not known the exact characters for Wu Minye’s name before, but the surnames shared the same pronunciation. Could it be a coincidence? If it were, why would that woman create such a specific illusion for them? If it was not a coincidence, then Wu Minye must be that Miss Wu.
“They personally pushed me into the Hall of Yama and turned me into a ghost. I found it quite interesting, so I dragged them down to experience it for themselves.”
Recalling those words spoken by Wu Minye, a theory began to take shape in Li Sichen’s mind. This was likely a case of revenge.
Li Sichen shared his thoughts with Yu Huaixin. Yu Huaixin considered it and agreed it was possible. “At that time, I heard the woman call me Minmin. Xiao Chen said her name is Wu Minye. The first two names match perfectly. As for the last, there should be no discrepancy.”
“But since she has already taken her revenge, why does she continue to kill? Master, I do not understand this.”
“Ghost marriage,” Yu Huaixin whispered.
Li Sichen considered himself clever, but many things remained beyond his grasp. He did not understand what Yu Huaixin meant by those two words.
“Among those we rescued earlier, the grooms were all ordinary men, but the brides included both men and women. They all shared one common trait.”
“What trait?”
Yu Huaixin lowered his gaze and spoke each word clearly. “The Pure Sacred Physique.”
Li Sichen’s expression changed instantly as the mystery unraveled. No wonder Yu Huaixin had been treated as a bride to perform the ceremony. Wu Minye was using the union with those of a Pure Sacred Physique to collect the resulting spiritual energy. This energy could be used to boost one’s cultivation. The reason she chose the form of a wedding was due to the obsession she held when she was alive.
Everything made sense now. Li Sichen recalled from the system’s information that some people would use union with a Pure Sacred Physique to increase their power. There were also those who, unwilling to have physical contact themselves, used others to achieve their goals.
Like the brutal Demon Lord, Feng Ji.
Feng Ji refused to have close contact with anyone. After obtaining Yu Huaixin, he handed him over to his subordinates to be humiliated while he reaped the rewards. However, there was one night when Feng Ji broke his own rule for him.
“Xiao Chen, your face is so pale. Are you ill?”
“I am fine.” Li Sichen tried to keep his expression steady, but he could not force a smile. “Master, the secret of your body must never be known by outsiders. If the Sect Leader tries to force you to prove yourself again like last time, you must refuse. Do you understand?”
“I understand.”
Yu Huaixin suddenly stepped forward and embraced Li Sichen tightly, his voice filled with emotion. “Your Master knows. Thank you, Xiao Chen. You are so good.”
“Master,” Li Sichen hesitated for a long time before finally raising his hands to circle Yu Huaixin’s waist. He focused on his breathing, hoping he would not lose his composure.
But how could he hide the sound of his racing heart?
“Master, do you have someone you like?”
