- The Master Possessed An Innate Charm, Irresistibly Seducing His Young Disciple
- Chapter 16 - Ghost Marriage
Yu Huaixin could not control his body with his will. He could only numbly submit to the pulling and shoving of the crowd.
A red veil fell, blocking his vision. His hands were bound with rope as he was pushed into the wedding hall.
“First bow to Heaven and Earth!”
“Second bow to the parents!”
“Husband and wife bow to each other!”
With every shout, his head was ruthlessly and heavily pressed down. Yu Huaixin felt dizzy, and his stomach churned.
“Enter the bridal chamber!”
The words were barely spoken before he was shoved into a coffin by the collective force of the crowd. No matter how he struggled, it was in vain. A handful of powder was scattered over him, and his eyes lost all light. Sharp, long spikes were driven deep into his pressure points, causing blood to pour out like a flood.
It did not end there. His fingers were snapped one by one and folded across his abdomen, where they were fixed in place with steel needles. His mouth was sewn shut with iron wire. The blood flowing from his eyes stained his white hair an eerie red, appearing terrifying under the night sky.
He could not see or speak; he could only hear. He heard the heavy coffin lid being slid shut bit by bit, bringing with it a deeper sense of despair.
As his consciousness began to slip away, Yu Huaixin finally understood. This was a ghost marriage. No one had told him. Everything had seemed so normal, without a single clue. The woman had whispered in his ear that he would be wed to his beloved, a beautiful union of mutual affection.
It had all been a trap. So be it. There was nothing left to do.
“Let him go!”
Li Sichen had rushed there with all his might, but he was a step too late. Staring at the coffin, which was already half-secured with long nails, he froze as if turned to stone.
The moment Li Sichen appeared, everyone turned to look at him. He was a tattered mess, covered in blood and mud. His hair was a chaotic tangle, and a deep, finger-thick gash ran across his cheek, deep enough to reveal the bone beneath.
He looked like a vengeful spirit crawled out from hell. The villagers, being cowardly people, were terrified by his appearance and scattered in an instant.
In a heartbeat, he was alone in the silent night.
Li Sichen could no longer feel the pain in his body. He ran toward the coffin, grabbing a hammer and frantically striking the lid. A torrential rain began to fall, and bright flashes of lightning illuminated the sky. Thunder roared, making it feel as though the heavens were collapsing.
As the edges of the coffin were battered and deformed, the nails snapped, and the lid was overturned. Li Sichen finally saw Yu Huaixin lying inside. His hands were folded over his abdomen, appearing as peaceful as if he were merely sleeping.
The pouring rain washed away the blood, revealing the white hair that was as smooth as silk and a face that was deathly pale. At that moment, Li Sichen felt his heart being torn apart. Perhaps he was still unsure if this was love, but the pain was bone-deep.
Li Sichen’s legs gave out. His strength vanished, and he knelt helplessly beside the man in the coffin. It was impossible to tell if the moisture rolling down his cheeks was rain or tears.
“Why?” Li Sichen murmured, lost in a daze. He clutched his chest, his body twitching with pain. “Yu Huaixin, this is fake, right? This is all an illusion! Right?”
He checked again and again, but when he grasped Yu Huaixin’s cold arm, his composure finally shattered. Looking at the body pierced by iron spikes, Li Sichen could not hold back any longer. He held the body tightly and wailed. The storm swallowed his desperate cries, offering no sympathy.
Eventually, his voice went hoarse. He climbed into the coffin to be with Yu Huaixin, whispering in his ear like lovers sharing an intimate moment.
“Yu Huaixin, I do not believe this is real. Let us take a gamble. Let us bet that this is all an illusion.”
“If I die too, I can leave this hellish place with you and start over. If it works, will you promise me to never fall before me covered in blood again?”
“I promise I will cultivate hard. I will find everything needed to neutralize your poison and help hide your identity. I will not let you be bullied again. Because I truly want to protect you.”
An iron nail pierced his throat. Li Sichen’s voice grew faint and his breathing weakened until his heartbeat finally stopped. In the final moments of life, they embraced and passed away together.
Li Sichen did not know that Yu Huaixin saw everything. In those pale eyes, there was only endless indifference.
Darkness swallowed his consciousness, and the world fell silent. When he regained awareness, Li Sichen saw the familiar red room. He was wearing a pure black sleeping robe, and the wounds he had previously suffered were fully healed.
His first reaction was joy. He had won the gamble. Everything before had been an illusion, and Yu Huaixin was still alive and unharmed.
But he quickly realized something was wrong. Through the layers of red silk, Li Sichen could see a familiar figure trembling like a flower branch. He pushed aside the silk and stepped forward. When he saw what was happening on the bed, his fists tightened instantly, and a murderous intent filled his eyes.
Li Sichen did not know why the feeling of being betrayed by a lover was so intense. It was enough to drive him mad.
“Get out! He is mine!”
The phantom ignored his roar and continued to lean down, stroking Yu Huaixin’s face.
Li Sichen could not listen to another word. He knew if this continued, he would lose his mind. However, as he tried to rush forward to fight the man, his limbs were suddenly bound by mysterious silk threads, preventing him from moving an inch.
“Let me go!” Li Sichen yelled, his eyes red.
The familiar female voice whispered in his ear, “Little brother, do not be in such a hurry. Have you thought this through? The poison in his body has already reached his heart, and his immortal form is almost entirely corroded. You have two choices: watch him die, or watch him be saved by someone else. If you are not satisfied with those, there is one more way. Why do you not save him yourself?”
“No, I cannot. This is all fake. It is your illusion!”
“Is that so? Will you really stand by and do nothing just because it is an illusion? Besides, even if you do something to him, what does it matter? It is not real. You would be doing it to save him. What could be wrong with that?”
“I… I…” Li Sichen struggled internally.
He did not want to watch Yu Huaixin die again, nor did he want to see him being saved by another man, just as it had been in the past. Yet, Li Sichen did not want to be one of those who hurt Yu Huaixin. That would make him no different from the rest.
He tried to close his eyes, but the sounds continued to haunt him. Finally, Li Sichen opened his eyes. Looking at Yu Huaixin in such a state, tears fell from his eyes. Seeing Yu Huaixin like this with someone else was something he truly could not endure.
