- The Master Possessed An Innate Charm, Irresistibly Seducing His Young Disciple
- Chapter 11 - Eve of the Trial
Li Sichen went to Yu Huaixin’s residence but did not find him there. He could not locate him anywhere else either. Left with no choice, he had to wait patiently for Yu Huaixin’s return.
During the wait, Li Sichen did not stay idle. He used the innate abilities of this body to try and cultivate. Before reaching higher realms, he needed to understand his current foundation; otherwise, a shaky base would make any further training useless.
Li Sichen did not expect that half a day would pass just like that. The sky turned from bright to dim. A cool evening breeze brushed against his face, carrying a hint of dampness. Without him noticing, it had started to rain.
The rain was sparse. If one closed their eyes, they might not even notice its presence. As the sunset receded, the moonlight spilled down, staining the earth silver. Li Sichen reached out to catch the light falling raindrops, feeling the faint touch against his fingers as if he were holding someone’s hand.
Suddenly, a sweet fragrance of orchids wafted through the air. Li Sichen looked up to see the surrounding orchids blooming all at once. He was deeply shocked by the scene, wondering if he was dreaming. Then, he saw a figure descending from the sky like a celestial being draped in moonlight. Layers of deep blue skirts swayed in the wind like blossoms, reckless and enchanting.
Now Li Sichen was certain: he was indeed dreaming! Such a scene could only exist in a dream. It was too surreal.
“Xiao Chen.”
Yu Huaixin still had that faint smile on his lips as he softly called Li Sichen’s name. Li Sichen was no longer sure if this was a dream or not. He stood still, his eyes clearly reflecting Yu Huaixin’s image. Watching Yu Huaixin walk toward him step by step, Li Sichen admitted that at this moment, his heart skipped a beat.
Perhaps it was the superficial beauty interfering with his judgment, but it did not matter. Right now, Li Sichen knew he was happy. Seeing the person he liked walking toward him from a sea of flowers under the moonlight made him feel truly fortunate.
“Xiao Chen, were you looking for me?”
“Mhm.”
Yu Huaixin’s expression seemed joyful. “That is good.”
Though he did not know what “that is good” specifically meant, it was clear Yu Huaixin was in a good mood, making it the perfect time to ask a question.
“Master, my cultivation is stuck. Can you help me?”
“Of course.”
Yu Huaixin raised his hand to stroke Li Sichen’s cheek, his touch traveling down to his neck and lingering there. Li Sichen felt the skin where he was touched burning intensely, and he felt a nervous urge to pull away.
Yu Huaixin continued, “I will help with whatever Xiao Chen asks. You are my most beloved disciple, after all. Naturally, I want to give Xiao Chen only the very best.”
“Thank you, Master.”
“Mhm. Tomorrow is the disciple trial. I am worried you might encounter danger, so I shall accompany you. I can also help increase your cultivation along the way. How does that sound?”
Li Sichen doubted his ears and looked at Yu Huaixin in disbelief. This was like a group of children in a tug of war competition, and one kid decided to bring their parent. Regardless of whether it was fair to the others, for Li Sichen, it was at least a little bit embarrassing!
“Master, have you really thought this through?”
“Mhm.”
Well, since Yu Huaixin had decided, he could not say much else. As long as the others did not object, it would be fine. After a few more words, Li Sichen prepared to say goodbye, but Yu Huaixin asked, “Does Xiao Chen need my company again tonight?”
Li Sichen shook his head decisively. “No, no thank you, Master. I have grown up. I can manage on my own!”
“Mhm.”
Before leaving, Li Sichen looked back at Yu Huaixin standing in the moonlight. The smile the other man wore remained incredibly gentle.
The Next Morning
Li Sichen woke up early, dressed, tied his hair, and followed the large group to the main square of Moxian Peak to welcome the upcoming disciple trial.
The disciple trial was a major event for Moxian Peak, aimed at tempering disciples in various aspects, including execution, response, and adaptability. Every three years, the elders would select the 100 most qualified disciples to go to the human realm for testing, divided into groups of five with different assigned tasks. Completing the task brought rewards; failure resulted in punishment.
At this time, an elder representative placed a box containing task slips before everyone. There were twenty different tasks across 100 slips. Everyone drew lots to obtain their task and form teams.
When it was Li Sichen’s turn, he felt a bit nervous. In this completely strange world, many things were beyond his knowledge, and it was easy to make mistakes. Li Sichen slowly opened his slip. It read: Luofu Village Ghost.
These words, Luofu Village, likely referred to a village, but what did “Ghost” mean?
“Report to the Sect Leader! This morning, while sweeping the mountain gate, I found that Senior Brothers Bai Xun and Li Nan have been murdered!”
While other disciples were still drawing slips, a disciple suddenly rushed in through the crowd in a panic. Upon seeing Gu Fuyin standing at the front, his legs gave out and he knelt down.
This was no small news. The crowd immediately became restless with hushed whispers. Only when Gu Fuyin’s steady voice rang out did the murmuring stop.
Gu Fuyin frowned, looking majestic and stern. “Lead me there to see.”
The disciple dared not delay and got up to lead the way. The others, naturally wanting to find out what happened, followed behind. Li Sichen went as well.
The bodies had been carelessly tossed onto the main mountain path of Moxian Peak. When the crowd saw the two corpses, they simultaneously covered their noses while dry heaving.
The clothes had been stripped from the bodies. Their long hair had been stuffed entirely into their mouths. Their fingers had been twisted and broken one by one and shoved into their bodies. They had been sliced open from the chest to the lower abdomen, leaving their internal organs fully exposed, with several black insects occasionally scurrying through them.
The skin had rotted and shriveled like withered wood. It was impossible to tell that only yesterday, they had been vibrant, living people.
“This kind of method must be the work of the Demon Clan!”
A disciple in the crowd began to speculate, his voice filled with grief and indignation as if he wanted to kill the monster right then and there. Once this guess was voiced, the crowd exploded. Various theories and curses emerged, all pointing toward the Demon Clan.
Listening to the chaotic noise, Li Sichen stood in the crowd without saying a word. He remembered these two. Yesterday, to stand up for Yu Huaixin, he had punched each of them. He did not expect them to be completely dead now.
Looking at the way they died, Li Sichen felt a strange sense of familiarity.
The hand hanging at his side was suddenly held gently, and a familiar voice spoke in his ear, “Xiao Chen, what happened?”
