The Mad Beauty and the Sick Young Lady [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 30.1
Her recent web comic, Miss Bing’s Daily Life, had only been updated once, and it didn’t feature any scenes of Miss Yezi. Because she knew many fans were reading it, Su Li had been somewhat hesitant to draw her, fearing she might tarnish Jiang Zhuoye’s public image.
But as a private gift, Su Li felt a bit more unrestrained. The Q-version of Miss Yezi she designed was incredibly cute, with big round eyes and a large, round head. Every posture was an expression of cuteness.
She hoped Jiang Zhuoye would like this gift… Su Li smiled with anticipation even in her sleep.
The next morning, Jiang Zhuoye arrived punctually at Su Li’s doorstep.
Since she had been notified in advance, Su Li had specially dressed up for Christmas, wearing a red velvet cape coat and a brown hat with antlers on her head. With light makeup, she looked lively and adorable, like a cheerful little reindeer bounding toward Jiang Zhuoye.
Jiang Zhuoye subconsciously opened her arms in a gesture for a hug, an uncontrollable smile blooming on her lips, which even she didn’t notice.
Su Li, however, cleverly skirted around Jiang Zhuoye’s open arms, intentionally running to the other side of the car, laughing heartily:
“You can’t catch me!”
A trace of disappointment flashed in Jiang Zhuoye’s heart. She didn’t want to explore where this disappointment came from; she just smiled gracefully, turned, and helped open the car door.
Su Li quickly got into the passenger seat. She still remembered the awkwardness of Jiang Zhuoye having to reach over to take off her jacket last time, so she was very proactive this time. Before Jiang Zhuoye even got into the driver’s seat, Su Li had already taken off her coat, arranged her hair, and fastened her seatbelt.
Jiang Zhuoye sat down in the driver’s seat and looked at Su Li beside her, who had both hands resting on her knees and an accomplished smile:
“I’m all set! Let’s go!”
Jiang Zhuoye laughed lightly, touched the tip of her nose, and muttered while driving:
“Why are you so proactive today…”
Su Li thought to herself, Of course! I can’t let you be too ambiguous with me, or who knows which way the scale of our friendship will tip…
Of course, she couldn’t say this out loud, so Su Li just smiled.
Jiang Zhuoye’s usual residence was a large, secluded apartment in the new city district, offering a magnificent view of the river.
Su Li, holding the wrapped gift bag, walked into the house and was surprised to find it was different from what she had imagined. Jiang Zhuoye’s home looked quite lived-in. Though the decor was a minimalist black, white, and gray, all the necessary small items were present.
The kitchen was especially striking. Jiang Zhuoye’s kitchen was enormous, divided into Chinese and Western cooking areas, both fully stocked with various utensils, and they didn’t look like they were just for show.
“You actually cook!”
Su Li was astonished. Aren’t female celebrities supposed to be very busy? She actually had time to cook!
“Yes, I’m planning to show off my skills today.”
Jiang Zhuoye played the perfect host, inviting Su Li to sit on the sofa, turning on the TV, and placing a bottle of water in front of her, cautioning:
“It just came out of the fridge. Let it sit for a while before drinking; don’t drink it too cold.”
Su Li sank into the soft sofa, feeling comfortable as if she had melted into it. She could almost feel Jiang Zhuoye’s scent on the sofa, which was very distinct.
Jiang Zhuoye must have spent many lonely nights here… I wonder if she ever felt isolated.
“…Did you hear me?”
Jiang Zhuoye’s voice drifted vaguely from the kitchen.
“Ah! What did you say?”
Su Li, who had been spacing out, stood up and asked her.
“I asked if you have any dietary restrictions?”
Jiang Zhuoye poked her head out of the kitchen, holding a bunch of fresh, vibrant celery. She wore a black plaid apron and had her long hair tied up in a bun at the back of her head.
“No… no… low salt, low oil, low fat is fine… Actually, anything you make is okay.”
Su Li stared blankly at the surprisingly down to earth Jiang Zhuoye, lost for words.
Jiang Zhuoye started bustling around the kitchen. Su Li couldn’t concentrate on the TV. She tiptoed to the kitchen door and peeked inside like a thief.
Jiang Zhuoye was wearing an ordinary single shirt and long trousers. The black plaid apron covered most of her body, tied at the waist, which emphasized her unusually slender figure. Her waist was so thin it was barely the length of half of Su Li’s forearm.
Her hands were slender and long, smooth and pale, holding the fresh, dewy vegetables. Every movement was a beautiful tableau that captivated the heart.
After admiring her from behind for a while, Jiang Zhuoye suddenly turned her head:
“Have you looked enough? Don’t stand here; you’re affecting my performance.”
Su Li was unimpressed:
“How am I affecting your performance? I came to help you!”
As she tried to walk into the kitchen, Jiang Zhuoye suddenly raised her hand to stop her:
“I don’t need you. If you’re here, I’ll get nervous.”
A strange feeling surfaced in Su Li’s heart. Would ordinary friends get nervous cooking together? Unless it’s someone very introverted and shy…
Jiang Zhuoye shouldn’t be that kind of person, should she?
“If you don’t want to watch TV, you can look around the other rooms. It’s fine.”
Jiang Zhuoye used her elbow to gently push Su Li out. Her eyes were bright, her cheeks slightly flushed, and she smiled with a touch of shyness, and then… she closed the kitchen door.
Su Li frowned at the closed door, thinking she hadn’t realized Jiang Zhuoye could be so shy before. Perhaps her cooking wasn’t very good, and she was afraid of losing face.
Bored, she walked around the house. The apartment was huge, with several large suites. There were two guest rooms alone, plus a study, gym, home theater, and more. There were indeed many places to explore.
Su Li walked into the study. As far as her eyes could see, an entire wall was lined with exquisite and beautiful porcelain.
She went over to admire them, noting that they weren’t particularly valuable, and their shapes looked quite common their collection value was generally low.
Could Jiang Zhuoye not understand porcelain and just bought these randomly to fill up space? That doesn’t seem necessary. Jiang Zhuoye isn’t that kind of person.
Su Li walked a circle and spotted a pile of broken porcelain shards tucked away in the corner behind a curio shelf.
She went over and saw it was a large, broken pale blue porcelain bowl, which had been smashed into several pieces, but the pattern was quite unique.
Su Li gathered the shards, placed them on the central desk, and then went to the living room cabinet to find tape. She meticulously taped all the pieces together, restoring the bowl to its original shape.
After finishing, she examined it, quite pleased with her work, and then left the study to check out the other rooms.
The room at the far end must be Jiang Zhuoye’s bedroom. The decor didn’t reveal much, but only this room had a lot of small, personal items, and the dressing table was covered with things, suggesting it was used daily.
Su Li only glanced inside and started to walk out. She felt she shouldn’t pry into the owner’s bedroom.
However, that single glance froze her completely.
On the wall above the large bed hung several oil paintings with vibrant colors and abstract content.
Su Li was extremely familiar with these oil paintings she had painted every single one of them herself!
Su Li’s pupils constricted in shock. She had used a pseudonym at the auction house. Jiang Zhuoye definitely wouldn’t know she was the artist!
Jiang Zhuoye, without knowing, coincidentally bid on her works and hung them above her bed!
Su Li’s heart pounded, and her eyes sparkled. She felt she had truly made the right friend in Jiang Zhuoye! Their artistic tastes were so similar this was absolutely wonderful!
