The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 16
Come Back Alive.
Ding Sha would soon discover his men were missing. Given his arrogant nature, the next ones to come wouldn’t just be a few low-level thugs.
Time was running out for them.
Back home, Shi Anzhi made a simple fried rice, which they ate together with nutritional supplements.
Nian Xue’s mind was restless, fragmented memories flashing frequently, leaving her somewhat disoriented.
It was strange more than the lost memories, she wanted her current life so much so that she didn’t even want to recover her complete memories now.
Just then, Shi Anzhi asked, “Did you remember something?”
Nian Xue’s reaction during today’s danger had been completely unexpected, entirely different from the fragile Omega she had been when they first met.
She was slowly shedding her “foolish” demeanor.
Before, if Nian Xue couldn’t find her, she would cry. This time, Nian Xue had fought back using her weapon. Shi Anzhi thought that if she hadn’t arrived in time, Nian Xue might have handled it on her own.
Nian Xue swallowed a mouthful of rice. “Mm, but not much.”
She seemed reluctant to talk about it.
Shi Anzhi continued, “Ding Sha took a necklace from you. It looked quite valuable and must be important to you.”
Nian Xue was momentarily lost in thought. Was it? Was it important? Why was she so resistant to those memories?
After a moment of silence, she asked, “Do you want to help me get it back?”
“Yes.”
“It was originally yours anyway.”
Nian Xue couldn’t quite describe the feelings inside her worry, fear. She put down her chopsticks. “Can Dr. Teng prescribe medication? I mean, restricted drugs.”
Shi Anzhi wasn’t sure if Teng Ying had what Nian Xue needed, but she happened to need to take Nian Xue to the clinic for a check-up. “Let’s go take a look tomorrow.”
Nian Xue agreed.
That night, both of them had trouble sleeping. Nian Xue had been sleeping close to Shi Anzhi, yet it never felt intimate enough.
She wished she could live inside Shi Anzhi’s body.
Nothing could ever separate them.
Sensing Nian Xue’s emotions, Shi Anzhi held her tightly. “Don’t think about anything today.”
“Everything will be alright.”
Nian Xue smiled silently. Her Alpha was always like this simple, sparing with words, yet every sentence could genuinely comfort her. She kissed Shi Anzhi’s cheek and gradually fell asleep amidst her unease.
The next day, they went to the clinic.
At that time, Teng Ying was bent over, adjusting some equipment. When she looked up and saw Nian Xue, she was momentarily taken aback.
Nian Xue now had a clear, alert expression, nothing like the confused state she had been in when they first met. Both she and Shi Anzhi wore serious expressions.
“Haven’t seen you two in a while.”
Teng Ying guessed, “Here about the nosebleed?”
Nian Xue said, “No.”
Shi Anzhi said, “Yes.”
They exchanged a glance, and Shi Anzhi clarified, “Let’s start with a full body scan for her, the most detailed one.”
Teng Ying studied them, sensing the odd tension. She shrugged and led them inside.
She activated the largest full-body scanner in the darkroom. Apart from the border district hospital, this was the only device of its kind in District R.
Following Shi Anzhi’s instructions, Nian Xue lay down on it.
A pale blue beam swept over Nian Xue’s resting body as a massive virtual screen unfolded in the air, displaying rapidly refreshing streams of complex data.
Teng Ying’s expression grew serious.
She began operating the screen with her fingers, retrieving deeper layers of biological information.
Shi Anzhi walked up to the light screen, gazing at the flickering symbols and curves.
“Go on, what can you see?”
Teng Ying pointed to a segment of data flow marked in deep red on the screen. “My earlier assessment was too optimistic.”
“The toxin in her body isn’t simple, it seems meticulously designed. It usually remains dormant but activates when the host experiences intense emotional fluctuations.”
Teng Ying turned her head, her expression complex. “The priority now is to go to the Border District Hospital. They have gene-repair serum there.”
“I’m curious about who poisoned her. We’ll only know once she regains her memory.”
“There’s a Dr. Zhao at the Border District Hospital a friend of mine, who specializes in memory reconstruction. I’ll introduce you to him later.”
Shi Anzhi quietly studied the data and nodded, her heart feeling heavy.
Nian Xue finished putting on her clothes and stepped down from the scanning bed. It was just a nosebleed, after all. She wasn’t in any pain and didn’t pay it much mind.
Shi Anzhi took her hand. “We need to go to the Border District Hospital.”
Nian Xue hummed in agreement. More than her own condition, she was concerned about something else. “Let’s do it after we kill him.”
Teng Ying’s ears perked up, unsure if she had heard correctly.
Kill who?
It couldn’t be me, could it?
Noticing Teng Ying’s expression, Shi Anzhi chuckled. “I haven’t asked you yet, how much do you owe Ding Sha in total?”
The abrupt shift in topic made Teng Ying suspicious. “What? I, Teng Ying, still hold some status in District R. That guy wouldn’t dare mess with me.”
Shi Anzhi nodded. “But debts are always bothersome, aren’t they?”
At that moment, Nian Xue spoke up. “I wonder if Dr. Teng has ever considered wiping the slate clean. If Ding Sha disappears, the loan shark debt naturally vanishes.”
Teng Ying was taken aback by Nian Xue’s words. Was this something an Omega could say?
The commotion from the previous night hadn’t reached her yet, and she had no idea what they had been up to.
After a few seconds of contemplation, Teng Ying asked, “You two…”
“What are you planning to do?”
Shi Anzhi replied, “I need a few things: military-grade combat stimulants, high-concentration gaseous anesthetics, and hallucinogens capable of causing widespread sensory disruption.”
Teng Ying hadn’t expected Shi Anzhi to be serious. After a moment of shock, she shook her head. “You plan to use these things and take him down by yourself?”
“Ding Sha is more cautious about his life than you think.”
“His office’s air circulation system is military-grade, capable of filtering out most chemical toxins and anesthetics. It’s nearly impossible to knock him out with gas.”
“Also, as I’ve told you, Ding Sha has a mechanical arm something most people in District R have never even seen. You’ve only fought in a few matches.”
“I don’t want to be responsible for your death.”
Nian Xue, who had been silent until now, spoke up. “I know of something Ding Sha won’t detect.”
Her voice was soft but exceptionally clear.
Both Shi Anzhi and Teng Ying turned their attention to her.
Nian Xue spoke slowly, “There’s a type of composite neurotoxin that can penetrate through skin contact within seconds. Its molecular structure is unique, allowing it to bypass conventional biological filters.”
“It isn’t immediately fatal upon contact, but it rapidly inhibits the transmission speed of neural signals, slowing a person’s reactions.”
She paused, as if reciting a familiar passage: “The formula is quite simple mainly alkaloid extracts from three common mutated plants, polymerized using protease-K as a catalyst. I assume you have these basic ingredients here.”
“Serpentheart Grass, Wolfberry Lotus Seed, and Frost Gall.”
This was precisely what Nian Xue had come to Teng Ying for.
She had already considered it yesterday, she wasn’t skilled in close combat, and tagging along with Shi Anzhi would only make her a burden. This was the only way she could offer help to Shi Anzhi at the moment.
Shi Anzhi glanced at Nian Xue, her heart stirring slightly.
“How do you know all this?” Teng Ying was even more astonished.
A flicker of confusion passed through Nian Xue’s eyes. “It feels like this knowledge has always been in my memory. The moment I think about it, it just surfaces in my mind.”
After a moment’s thought, she mentioned something else.
“There’s also a powder made from modified Ghostface Mushrooms, processed through low-temperature drying and grinding. When scattered in the air and inhaled, the spores rapidly release an alkaloid in the alveoli, causing intense paralysis within half a minute.”
Having said this, she looked at Shi Anzhi, explaining how she knew so much. “My family used to run a pharmacy?”
Shi Anzhi nodded slightly but refrained from saying anything further in front of Teng Ying. In truth, she accepted Nian Xue just as she was.
Teng Ying, however, joked, “A pharmacy? A legitimate one?”
Nian Xue turned to Shi Anzhi, replying in a similarly playful tone, “A chain pharmacy, probably.”
Overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information, Teng Ying took a moment to collect herself before striding into the innermost biochemical laboratory her true workspace, filled with various high-tech instruments of dubious origins.
Exchanging a glance, Shi Anzhi and Nian Xue followed her inside.
Though Shi Anzhi had handled many shady tasks for Teng Ying at the clinic, she had rarely entered this particular room.
They watched Teng Ying tinker for nearly an hour. Finally, she held up a gel stick filled with a transparent liquid and a small packet of gray powder.
She gently applied the gel to the paw of a large-eared mouse in one cage, then used an air blower to disperse some of the powder into another cage.
Nian Xue held her breath this was the moment to test whether her memories were accurate.
Within seconds, the large-eared mouse’s movements grew unusually sluggish and clumsy until it lay weakly on the ground, only its eyes still moving.
The other mouse, having inhaled the powder, first convulsed violently before its limbs went limp, collapsing into a heap at the bottom of the cage, its beady eyes filled with terror.
Teng Ying ran some tests with her instruments, then looked up at Nian Xue with mixed emotions.
Recalling the incident where she had taken Nian Xue’s necklace, she avoided Nian Xue’s gaze. “Was your family running a bioweapons lab?”
Each of these substances was enough to be classified as the empire’s highest-level contraband, yet this amnesiac Omega had casually recited their detailed formulas and effects as if listing dishes on a menu.
“I…”
Nian Xue stared at the two incapacitated test subjects, momentarily dazed by the questioning.
Shi Anzhi stepped forward, shielding her, and said to Teng Ying, “As long as the items are effective, that’s what matters.”
She paused, then added, “And give me the other reagents we discussed earlier. I’ll find a way to pay you, whatever the cost.”
Fujikage looked at them and sighed, then pushed the two lethal drugs along with several auto-injectors containing a pale golden liquid from the medicine cabinet toward Shi Anzhi.
“Take them.”
She frowned. “This will increase your adrenaline levels fivefold within three minutes and reduce your pain perception by eighty percent. The effects will wear off after half a day and won’t cause any nerve damage.”
“Consider these my gift to you.”
“Shi Anzhi, come back alive.”
She glanced at them, her expression turning sharp again. “Whether I can clear my debt depends on you. As long as you come back breathing, I’ll make sure you survive.”
