The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 13
Mark Me.
The second wave of heat came faster than Shi Anzhi had anticipated.
The afternoon sun cast mottled shadows on the floor through the gaps in the window, and dust danced in the air.
This was the quietest time of day in District R. The people here worked in the mornings and were accustomed to taking a short nap at this hour.
Suddenly, a soft moan broke the silence.
Shi Anzhi, who had been awake all night and had only managed a light sleep, was jolted awake almost instantly.
She looked down and met Nian Xue’s tea-colored eyes, hazy with tears. Nian Xue was awake, but her mind remained clouded, completely consumed by the overwhelming heat of her estrus.
“Shi Anzhi.”
She gazed at her with a dazed, longing look, filled with a primal desire. “It still hurts so much. Help me.”
“Do you even care about me at all?”
Her voice was soft and seductive, each word tugging at Shi Anzhi’s nerves.
Shi Anzhi wasn’t in a good state herself.
The glands on the back of her neck throbbed as if seared by a hot iron, and her pheromones were being forcibly awakened by Nian Xue’s.
Reason was slowly eroding, and the instincts of an Alpha were gradually taking over.
“Nian Xue, look at me.”
Shi Anzhi forced herself to stay calm, cupping Nian Xue’s feverish face.
“Listen to me. Inhibitors are harmful to your body. You can’t use them.”
“But I’ll stay with you. Trust me, okay?”
Nian Xue seemed unable to comprehend her words. All she knew was her own discomfort. She leaned in, pressing her lips against Shi Anzhi’s.
The sensation was soft, warm, and damp.
Shi Anzhi gently pushed Nian Xue away, holding her still as she stared into her face. Her mind raced with thoughts.
Expressing her feelings was incredibly difficult for her. She thought and thought, her gaze fixed intently on Nian Xue.
“You must have noticed, right? My pheromones are very weak. The doctors said it’s due to congenital gland damage, and it can’t be cured.”
“Do you understand what that means?”
Nian Xue’s eyelashes fluttered as she watched Shi Anzhi’s lips move, but she couldn’t make out the words.
She thought Shi Anzhi was confessing her feelings.
Stop saying you like me. I already know. If you didn’t like me, why would you treat me so well.
Nian Xue’s thoughts were muddled. She nodded, pulling Shi Anzhi’s hand and placing it on her chest. “Mm-hmm, I like you too.”
“Touch me, please.”
Shi Anzhi pursed her lips, her hand stiff and uncertain. Unsure if Nian Xue had understood, she decided to be more direct.
“I’m defective, Nian Xue. Do you hear me?”
“I haven’t told you this before, but I’m an orphan. I have no family.” Shi Anzhi sighed. After living together for so long, Nian Xue already knew most of her circumstances, but she still felt the need to say it again.
She was afraid Nian Xue would regret this.
Nian Xue began to guide Shi Anzhi’s hand, leaning close to her ear. “I heard you.”
“I know all about you.”
“Mark me, okay?” She nibbled on Shi Anzhi’s earlobe.
All restraint shattered into nothingness.
They kissed. Shi Anzhi was no longer passive. After laying bare her vulnerabilities, her kisses turned possessive, marked by biting intensity.
As if trying to mask her unease.
“Mmm…”
Nian Xue was caught off guard by this sudden dominance, and her body responded with heightened excitement.
She wrapped her arms tightly around Shi Anzhi’s neck, responding with equal fervor.
In that moment, their pheromones intertwined completely.
One was intense like a tide, the other light like mist.
When their lips parted, Nian Xue gasped for breath, but a deeper craving had been thoroughly awakened.
“Anzhi, this isn’t enough.”
“You know what I want.”
She tilted her head back, exposing her fair nape the gland, an Omega’s most vulnerable spot.
Shi Anzhi watched Nian Xue’s state, seeing her tormented into delirium, aware only of her need for satisfaction, and her heart ached.
Once she bit down, even if it was just a temporary mark, their relationship would never be the same again.
She was still hesitating.
But Nian Xue couldn’t wait.
She shifted her body, her pleas spilling from her lips.
“Please, Shi Anzhi.”
“I want you to mark me.”
“You said you liked me.”
“You said it.”
Shi Anzhi gazed into Nian Xue’s eyes.
“Do you know what marking means?”
Nian Xue’s consciousness was already hazy. She obediently lowered her head, offering another invitation, her body’s submission a plea in itself.
Shi Anzhi took a deep breath, gently biting Nian Xue’s nape, and infused her pheromones into Nian Xue’s body.
“I’ll be good to you. I’ll protect you forever,” Shi Anzhi promised, vowing to fulfill her pledge with every effort.
It was a temporary mark.
A cool, moist sensation spread from the mark on her nape, coursing through Nian Xue’s entire body, soothing the raging fire within her.
Nian Xue felt an unprecedented sense of peace.
The moment the pheromones were injected, a flood of fragmented images surged into Shi Anzhi’s mind.
She saw a lavish white estate, grand as a palace.
There was a stern-faced middle-aged man, a group of uniformed attendants, and servants with indifferent expressions.
The scene shifted to a banquet, where a male Alpha in military uniform was placing a ring on the finger of an Omega in a white gown.
That Omega was unmistakably Nian Xue.
These images flashed by too quickly to grasp.
But the emotions of the memory’s owner, a profound despair and disgust were transmitted clearly.
Shi Anzhi abruptly released her bite.
She stared at the bleeding tooth marks on Nian Xue’s nape, then at Nian Xue’s serene, sleeping face, her mind in turmoil.
What had she just seen?
Were they Nian Xue’s lost memories?
That engagement banquet, that male Alpha.
Nian Xue’s identity might be far more complicated than she had imagined.
Shi Anzhi was suddenly lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Nian Xue was so overwhelmed with comfort she nearly wept.
In the depths of satisfaction, she fell into a deep sleep.
*
A temporary mark acts as a powerful sedative for an Omega. This was Shi Anzhi’s first time caring for an Omega in heat, and she stayed by her side almost without leaving.
If Nian Xue wanted something, she had to provide it.
If Nian Xue’s body was dehydrated and she was thirsty, she had to offer water.
When Nian Xue slept, she wiped the sweat from her brow.
The physiological bond created by the mark was something the Omega couldn’t resist. The moment Nian Xue woke and couldn’t see Shi Anzhi, she would immediately grow restless and anxious.
She longed to be close to Shi Anzhi at all times.
Four days later, the grueling heat finally came to an end.
When Nian Xue regained consciousness, the sky outside the window was painted in brilliant shades of orange and red by the setting sun.
The room was quiet, with only the faint sounds of Shi Anzhi preparing dinner in the kitchen.
Nian Xue shifted her body, feeling refreshed and comfortable, with a faint tingling sensation lingering at the nape of her neck.
After being marked, she could clearly sense Shi Anzhi’s presence not through smell, but through a deeper, soul-level perception.
She got out of bed, her legs weak from overindulgence, yet her mind was unusually clear.
She walked to the kitchen doorway and leaned against the frame, quietly watching the figure busily working for her.
Shi Anzhi was intently chopping vegetables.
Nian Xue’s heartbeat slowed, and she called out softly, “Shi Anzhi.”
Shi Anzhi turned around, noticing the clarity had returned to Nian Xue’s expression, and immediately broke into a smile.
“Awake? Are you hungry?”
Nian Xue didn’t answer. Instead, she wrapped her arms tightly around Shi Anzhi from behind.
Greedily inhaling the scent that made her feel utterly at ease, she murmured, “A little hungry.”
“But I’d rather hold you.”
Shi Anzhi chuckled silently, set down the kitchen knife, turned around, and pulled the Omega into her embrace.
“Do you remember what I told you?”
“What was it?” Nian Xue replied lazily.
Shi Anzhi didn’t speak, nor did she offer a hint. If Nian Xue couldn’t remember, so be it she thought to herself temporary marks were easy enough to erase.
Seeing Shi Anzhi’s silence, Nian Xue dropped her teasing demeanor. “I remember.”
She shook Shi Anzhi gently. “I remember everything. I don’t think you’re a cripple.”
“How could a cripple mark me?”
“I can sense your pheromones, really.” Nian Xue took a deep breath. “It’s even better if others can’t sense them. Only I can.”
Shi Anzhi was amused by her words, though she felt a little embarrassed. Seeing that Nian Xue remembered her promises, a weight lifted from her heart.
Nian Xue’s heat lasted for four days.
For four whole days, the fruit shop remained closed. Nian Xue’s pheromones had spilled out, and everyone in the alley knew what was going on.
Some privately pitied this Omega, picked up by a crippled Alpha, unsure how she could endure her heat.
So when the fruit shop reopened and customers saw Nian Xue unharmed, with faint red marks on her neck, they couldn’t help but be surprised.
Shi Anzhi had a cold demeanor and disliked idle chatter with neighbors. Though many had their opinions, they refrained from making teasing remarks to her face.
They only thought to themselves: Damn, how did that cripple Shi Anzhi manage it?
After her heat, Nian Xue became even more clingy, following Shi Anzhi wherever she went.
Before, Shi Anzhi hadn’t allowed Nian Xue to accompany her to dangerous places. But now that their relationship had deepened, they felt more bound by fate. So Nian Xue started going with her to the black market, to handle waste, and to restock supplies.
Shi Anzhi began taking on risky jobs again.
She still wanted to buy a truck and a better bed, the current one was far too inconvenient for the things they did together.
Whenever she had some extra money, Shi Anzhi would take Nian Xue out to eat.
They went to the best revolving restaurant in District R.
It served fresh meat and high-quality carbohydrates, with exquisite decor and flowers all around, perfect for a date.
It even had a television, a luxury item in District R, with fewer than 50 people in the entire district owning one.
It was Nian Xue’s first date with Shi Anzhi, and she was in high spirits.
At 7:30 in the evening, the television abruptly switched from a film to the evening news, a breaking news alert.
“It has been reported that Ms. Shen Tingxue, the only daughter of the Shen Group in the Special Administrative Zone, has been missing for over a month. The Shen family has offered an astronomical reward for any information regarding her whereabouts. Currently, the Special Zone Security Bureau has classified this case as the highest-priority missing person investigation.”
The news footage showed no clear facial photographs, only a few distant shots of a mansion’s exterior and the wreckage of what appeared to be an extremely expensive sports car.
The white hover sports car lay overturned by the river, completely mangled.
Neither of them paid it any attention. Shi Anzhi didn’t know how to cut steak, but Nian Xuewas quite skilled and was enthusiastically helping Shi Anzhi prepare the meat.
The breaking news looped repeatedly to maximize its reach. Someone in the restaurant complained, “These Special Zone people, can’t they let us watch the movie in peace?”
“What’s wrong with them? If they’re looking for someone, why not show a photo? Who knows what the woman even looks like?”
“Probably dead already. Another Omega,” the complainer sneered maliciously.
