- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 71 - The Demon Abyss
In the past, Lin Xi would have found people discussing his beast form highly offensive. Now, however, hearing people say he was the “most pampered,” he tilted his head proudly, his fox ears twitching with satisfaction.
“Hey! Is that really the point?!” Liu Ying cried out, both angry and speechless as she listened to the chatter around her. Had these people completely ignored the fact that this woman was a traitor who had murdered their Sect Leader?
“Senior Sister Liu, I believe you have a misunderstanding regarding Luo Xiuping’s death,” Jiang Luoyue said calmly.
She wasn’t angry at the accusation. With so many people defending her, she felt secure. Moreover, she could empathize with Liu Ying; the woman had simply been kept in the dark. Jiang Luoyue actually admired her for supporting Ziwei Peak alone and having the courage to challenge a Soul Transformation cultivator to seek justice for her master.
Jiang Luoyue sighed and produced several Recording Stones. “See for yourself. This goes for all of you curious onlookers as well.”
She activated the first stone. An image projected into the air like a massive screen, crystal clear in both sight and sound. It showed the day Jiang Luoyue fought her way back to Ziwei Peak—it captured Luo Xiuping’s own confession that he had murdered Jiang Luoyue’s parents and his attempt to kill her, failing only because of the protective peach branch given to her by Gu Wangfeng.
The second stone showed the brutal battle at the House of Wind and Clouds.
The third stone revealed the aftermath: Zhao Ziyuan killing Luo Xiuping and her subsequent words to Jiang Luoyue. Though Zhao Ziyuan’s phrasing was cryptic, it was clear to everyone that she and Luo Xiuping shared a sordid, illicit relationship. Furthermore, Luo Xiuping’s mention of a “Master” and “captured cultivators” gave the crowd much to think about. It seemed the person behind Luo Xiuping was likely linked to the recent disappearances.
Liu Ying and the disciples of Ziwei Peak stared at the projections, stunned into silence. Jiang Luoyue waited patiently for their reaction.
“This… this is impossible,” Liu Ying murmured. Yet, deep down, she knew that Recording Stones did not lie. While the disciples had always known Luo Xiuping favored Zhao Ziyuan, they never imagined the relationship was so twisted. They had all thought he treated her like an adopted daughter.
The other cultivators exchanged glances. They hadn’t realized Jiang Luoyue’s past was so tragic. Previously, many female cultivators had envied her for being surrounded by handsome men, and her reputation was a subject of much debate—one side calling her fickle, the other calling her a heroine.
In a world where the strong are revered, women did not need to depend on men to survive. For a talent like Fellow Daoist Jiang, having multiple companions was perfectly normal. Seeing her tragic history now, some women began to whisper.
“No wonder she doesn’t want to let go of their love. Her parents died young; she never received enough love growing up. What’s wrong with wanting more now?”
“Exactly! After going through so much, she’s still so resilient. To still have so much kindness and love to give… Sister Jiang is wonderful.”
Jiang Luoyue felt a bit awkward being the subject of such gossip. She forced a smile and looked at Liu Ying. “That is the truth of it. I don’t blame you for targeting me just now, but if you do it again, I will not be so lenient.”
Liu Ying’s expression was complex, and she found herself at a loss for words. Seeing that Jiang Luoyue had no desire to linger, Li Changting patted her shoulder. “Junior Sister, you and the others go prepare to enter the Abyss. I’ll handle things here.”
“Junior Sister Liu, you’ve seen the truth. There’s no need to hold onto this grudge,” Li Changting said, walking up to Liu Ying. He pulled out several bottles of Qi-Gathering Pills. “I am now a Nascent Soul-stage Alchemist. These pills are of excellent quality; let our junior brothers and sisters use them.”
Liu Ying was shocked once more. It was notoriously difficult for Alchemists to advance, making a Golden Core Alchemist precious. A Nascent Soul-stage Alchemist was a rarity in the current cultivation world.
“Go back. Rest and rebuild Ziwei Peak. You don’t need to be in such a hurry to prove your existence,” Li Changting said gently. He truly cared for these disciples as his siblings, but his path now lay with Jiang Luoyue.
Finally, a look of gratitude appeared on Liu Ying’s face, her eyes rimmed with red. “Eldest Senior Brother, I was impulsive today. Please apologize to Junior Sister Jiang on my behalf later.” She lowered her head in embarrassment. “The sect is struggling; I have no proper gift to offer as an apology.”
“She won’t mind. Just live your life well,” Li Changting said before returning to Jiang Luoyue’s side.
With the drama concluded, everyone’s attention returned to the Demon Abyss. The leaders of the Great Sects joined forces to tear open the entrance. Attendants stood at the gate, handing out Teleportation Jade Plaques to every entering cultivator. If they encountered mortal danger, crushing the jade would instantly teleport them out.
“If it comes to a life-or-death moment, teleport out immediately. While there is life, there is hope. Do you understand?” Yue Chongshan said solemnly, his eyes sweeping over the young faces with a heavy heart. He walked up to Jiang Luoyue. “Your group is powerful, but you must still be cautious.”
“We will,” Jiang Luoyue nodded.
Fuxia snuggled obediently in her arms. A passing cultivator looked at the little girl in confusion. “A small child is going in too?”
Fuxia turned her head, her dark eyes fixing on the man. “I am already at the Nascent Soul stage,” her soft, milky voice rang out. “I can protect my Big Sister.”
The surrounding crowd gasped. A child of that age at the Nascent Soul stage? Such cultivation talent was unheard of.
As the massive wave of cultivators entered the Demon Abyss, the Four Great Sects used pre-arranged formations to mask their auras. To cover more ground, each sect was sent to a different location. The jade plaques also functioned as communication and tracking devices; if trouble arose in one area, others could rush to assist.
Jiang Luoyue’s group was teleported to the Western Region of the Demon Abyss.
As soon as their feet hit the ground, they were met with a landscape of thick, rolling mist. In the distance, the faint, ghostly silhouette of a city gate loomed.
“Shall we head toward it?” Yue Wenqiu asked, looking to Jiang Luoyue.
“I’ll use a talisman to scout first,” Lin Xi said, extending his arm in front of her to keep her back.
