- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 64 - The System Is Not a System
During the day, the three men usually orbited around Jiang Luoyue, often leaving Li Changting feeling like the odd one out. Since he spent most of his time either with his alchemy furnace or the little turtle, he had grown very fond of Fuxia.
“This is incredible. I actually got to see a living Divine Beast,” Li Changting said with a bright smile.
Jiang Luoyue handed him three storage pouches. “These are materials we gathered in the Secret Realm. Senior Brother, they’re all yours to use!”
“Thank you, Junior Sister!” Li Changting accepted them happily.
“I’m going to get some rest; I’m exhausted,” Jiang Luoyue said, letting out a yawn.
“Alright, see you later, Junior Sister,” Li Changting replied.
He didn’t think much of it. While cultivators technically don’t need sleep—replacing it with meditation—Jiang Luoyue insisted on sleeping every night, and those around her had simply grown accustomed to it.
That night, Jiang Luoyue didn’t ask for any of the men to accompany her. Instead, she sank into the Taixu Realm to find Gu Wangfeng.
“You’ve come?” Gu Wangfeng’s gaze was like spring water thawing from ice, exceptionally soft.
“Mhm.” Jiang Luoyue threw herself into his embrace.
“What is it?” Gu Wangfeng keenly sensed her low spirits and asked in concern.
“I received the inheritance of the Four Divine Beasts today. It turns out the little turtle I picked up is actually a descendant of the Xuanwu,” Jiang Luoyue said with a small smile.
Gu Wangfeng was astonished. “That you of all people would pick up a Xuanwu descendant…”
“Do you know why the Four Divine Beasts went extinct?” Jiang Luoyue asked.
“Ten thousand years ago, it is said that cultivators from another cultivation plane invaded to plunder our resources. The Four Divine Beasts and the Immortal Sects of that era fought back with everything they had to protect this world,” Gu Wangfeng explained. “But in that battle, all the Divine Beasts perished, and the Immortal Sects were left with very few survivors.”
Jiang Luoyue nodded slowly. “Do you think… something like that could happen again?”
“Likely not. The people of that plane were heavily crippled, and it’s doubtful other planes would find us so soon,” Gu Wangfeng reassured her.
Jiang Luoyue nodded, though she planned to ask the System for the truth later.
“Will you stay with me tonight?” Gu Wangfeng asked.
“Can you really not leave the Taixu Realm?” Jiang Luoyue asked back. She felt the greatest debt toward Gu Wangfeng; she spent every day with the others and could only visit him occasionally. She almost regretted entangling him in her life to begin with.
Gu Wangfeng let out a soft laugh and stroked her hair. “I cannot leave, but do not dwell on it. I never liked interacting with the outside world anyway. Staying here all these years hasn’t been a hardship.” His voice was calm. “You are the only ripple I have encountered in this lifetime.”
Moved, Jiang Luoyue wrapped her arms around his waist and snuggled into his chest. After a session of spiritual cultivation together, she finally left the Taixu Realm.
Back in her room alone, Jiang Luoyue finally called out to the System.
“You aren’t a system, are you? Who are you, and why did the Xuanwu recognize you?”
So, you found out… The System didn’t try to hide it anymore. After a long silence, the System finally spoke. I am indeed not a system. My name is Luan Yao. I was a cultivator who sacrificed myself alongside the Xuanwu tens of thousands of years ago. This is my remnant soul.
“Then why did you choose me?” Jiang Luoyue asked, then added, “The apocalypse was cruel, but the cultivation world seems alright so far.”
Because you were also one of those who sacrificed themselves ten thousand years ago, Luan Yao said with a light chuckle.
“What?” Jiang Luoyue was shocked.
You were the strongest human cultivator back then. You led the Immortal Sects in the resistance; the Four Divine Beasts were your close friends. You were the Goddess whom everyone in this world revered… Luan Yao’s voice wavered. Before I died, I took a wisp of your soul and sent you into the cycle of reincarnation. You have lived a thousand different lives; your time in the apocalypse was merely one of them.
In this life, you have finally returned to the world of cultivation. I just wanted you to live a bit more happily, Luan Yao’s tone suddenly turned playful. I didn’t expect you to be such a blockhead in every single life. Seeing you so lonely and piteous, I wanted you to taste the sweetness of romance. See how good I am to you? I surrounded you with beauties and even found you dual cultivation methods.
Jiang Luoyue was stuck between being speechless and amused. “Was I really that Goddess?”
Truly, Luan Yao said, her voice turning tearful. Back then, we were all such high-spirited geniuses… Is that a bit narcissistic? Unfortunately, the geniuses fell, leaving only you and a broken version of me…
Just listening to the narration made Jiang Luoyue’s heart ache. She knew, deep down, that this was the truth. Fragments of a war from millennia ago flashed before her eyes—the fall of the Divine Beasts, her friends collapsing one by one. In her final moments, her friends and the beasts had gathered their remaining strength to preserve her soul.
The girl with the brightest smile had been Luan Yao. “Sister Luoyue, you must come back…”
“Luan Yao…” Jiang Luoyue was covered in tears, her chest tightening so much she could hardly breathe.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
“Luoyue, what’s wrong?” It was Lin Xi. He had come to discuss when to look for Yue Wenqiu, but he had heard her sobbing. When she didn’t reply, he grew frantic and pushed the door open. He saw her lying on the bed, clutching her chest.
“What happened? Does your chest hurt?” Lin Xi rushed over and gathered her into his arms. “Is the inheritance power too strong for you to bear?”
“No…” Jiang Luoyue quickly regained her composure. Luan Yao had gone silent. (Though Luan Yao loved gossip, she had the moral decency to shield her senses during private moments.)
Jiang Luoyue lowered her eyes. Not knowing how to comfort her, Lin Xi released his large, fluffy tail and placed it in her hands.
“It’s very soft. Here, feel it.”
Jiang Luoyue couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “I know. I’ve felt it before.”
“It’s more comfortable than before,” Lin Xi said with a grin. “Since I came back, I’ve been maintaining it with essential oils.”
Jiang Luoyue looked at him, her eyes dancing with mischief. Was this not blatant seduction? It seemed this little fox was much more skilled than she had thought.
