- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 52 - How Luo Xiuping Actually Died
The little fox ran toward Wenqing and Wenwu, still clutching the sword.
“Master, why did you rush out like that? You nearly scared the life out of us!” Wenwu wanted to reach out and hug Lin Xi but didn’t quite dare, leaving him with nothing but a mournful, worried expression.
“I’m fine,” Lin Xi said, looking at the blade in his hand. “This sword is incredible; it absorbed more than half of the damage.”
the Green Infant Sword trembled slightly, as if preening and saying, See? See? I really am that amazing!
Lin Xi stroked the blade. At times like this, the sword acted like a child craving a word of praise from its master.
Meanwhile, the little turtle, Jiang Luoxing, and Li Changting remained at a distance—their cultivation was too low; getting closer was a death sentence. Initially, they had hoped that the combined power of Yue Wenqiu and Jiang Luoyue would be enough for a decisive battle, but it proved to be far more difficult than expected.
Jiang Luoyue called upon the System for another Realm-Passing Pill.
Standing beside her, Yue Wenqiu’s robes were stained with the blood he had spat out. He keenly sensed Jiang Luoyue swallowing something, and immediately after, her cultivation began to surge.
Mid-Nascent Soul… Peak-Nascent Soul…
Early-Soul Transformation!
Her power jumped two minor stages, finally putting her on equal footing with Luo Xiuping. Yue Wenqiu guessed she had taken another Realm-Passing Pill, though he had no idea where she obtained such a rare medicine.
Luo Xiuping frowned, sensing the spiritual pressure radiating from her. Is she around my level now? Had she been suppressing her power all along, or did she consume… a Realm-Passing Pill? It seemed the legendary pill did exist in this world, but he couldn’t fathom how she had the luck to possess it.
Still, Luo Xiuping was undeterred. “Do you think you can stop me just because you used drugs to force yourself into the Soul Transformation stage?”
With a cold sneer, he launched a strike. Jiang Luoyue mobilized every drop of her spiritual energy for defense while simultaneously counterattacking.
On the other side, Yue Wenqiu faced Zhao Ziyan. Their cultivation was roughly equal. Anxious to help Luoyue, Yue Wenqiu fought with frantic intensity, hoping to finish Ziyan quickly. Jiang Luoxing couldn’t sit still and rushed in to assist.
For Zhao Ziyan, killing Jiang Luoxing wouldn’t have been difficult, but Yue Wenqiu was always there, positioning himself as a shield.
“Your dantian is hollow. You used a forbidden method to reach the Nascent Soul stage, didn’t you? You’re no match for me. Surrender,” Yue Wenqiu commanded. If he could just neutralize her and hand her over to Lin Xi, he could turn the tide for Luoyue.
“If that’s the case, won’t Jiang Luoyue lose as well?” Zhao Ziyan countered with a chilling laugh, her sword never faltering.
Yue Wenqiu frowned. Strangely, Zhao Ziyan wasn’t fighting with her full strength; she seemed to be intentionally stalling him.
Suddenly, a stray blast of spiritual energy from Luo Xiuping’s battle struck outward, sending both Jiang Luoxing and Yue Wenqiu crashing to the ground.
Jiang Luoyue had just exhausted another charge of power from her peach branch, but Luo Xiuping’s defensive artifacts had held. Her mouth was filled with the metallic taste of blood, and she felt a warm trickle from her nose. She wiped it, realizing it was a nosebleed.
She gritted her teeth. Looking at the fallen Yue Wenqiu and Jiang Luoxing, she felt a pang of despair. She didn’t want to die, but she knew this was a fight to the finish. Ignoring the agonizing pain throughout her body, she stood up, prepared to use the final reserve of power given to her by Gu Wangfeng.
She poured every ounce of her remaining spiritual energy into the peach branch and lashed out one last time. Luo Xiuping, unable to dodge, was knocked to the ground.
But just as Jiang Luoyue thought she had won, Luo Xiuping stood back up. His face was twisted in a grotesque mask of rage as he gathered a massive orb of demonic qi in his hands. Jiang Luoyue’s legs were shaking; she could barely stand. If he attacked again…
In that moment of agonizing tension, a sword suddenly pierced through Luo Xiuping’s chest from behind.
Luo Xiuping froze. The demonic aura surrounding him dissipated instantly. He spat out a great spray of blood. Feeling his very soul shattering, he turned his head in disbelief to see Zhao Ziyan holding the hilt.
“Ziyan… you… why…”
This was the child he had raised himself. He had believed she would never betray him. He never dreamed she would be the one to deal the killing blow.
Seeing the question in his eyes, Zhao Ziyan gave a cold, desolate laugh. “The moment you laid hands on me, you dragged me into the abyss. This strike is exactly what you deserve.”
Blood overflowed from Luo Xiuping’s mouth. His exhausted body couldn’t even manage a final word. He had never imagined he would die at the hands of Zhao Ziyan. Within moments, his body and soul dissolved into nothingness, scattered by the wind.
Jiang Luoyue watched the scene in shock, her eyes wide. As the time limit for the Realm-Passing Pill expired, a wave of crushing fatigue washed over her.
“Why?” Jiang Luoyue asked, staring at Zhao Ziyan. She couldn’t understand.
Zhao Ziyan looked wretched. Her face was covered in fine, hair-line cracks, looking like a shattered porcelain doll. She gave a miserable smile, the malice in her eyes replaced by a fragile sense of relief.
“Because I didn’t want to hurt you anymore,” she whispered.
Jiang Luoyue was stunned. Yue Wenqiu and the little fox quickly moved to her side. Lin Xi bared his teeth, his body tensed to strike, but Jiang Luoyue placed a hand on his head to calm him.
“I hated him so much,” Zhao Ziyan continued. “I hated him for tricking me when I was young and innocent. I hated him for not treating me like a human being.”
“Do you know how he grew so strong so quickly? He offered me up to several filthy, hideous men of unknown races in exchange for those pills.”
“They were swathed in demonic qi. I was tortured beyond endurance.”
“Sister Luoyue, I was jealous of you. I envied how you were surrounded and cherished by such celestial men while I was used as a tool for venting. But later, that jealousy turned into pure longing. If only I hadn’t stood with Luo Xiuping… if only I could have always been your ‘Little Sister Ziyan’…”
With those final words, she raised Lin Xi’s sword, Yinxue, and drew it across her own throat.
Her life force faded instantly, like a flower drained of its essence. She died broken and battered, hoping only that her final, sincere confession would grant her a slightly less painful path in the afterlife.
The sword fell to the ground with a loud clang. The little fox went to retrieve it.
Jiang Luoyue had been ready to risk everything—even self-destructing her primordial spirit—to avenge the original host’s parents. She had been prepared to die. She never expected Luo Xiuping and Zhao Ziyan to meet their ends in such a tragic, absurd way.
She stood there in a daze for a long time, the world around her blurring.
Seeing that the “Great War” had reached its conclusion, Wenwu and Wenqing immediately led their demon subordinates to usher the guests out, promising that Fengman Pavilion would provide generous compensation to ensure everyone’s satisfaction.
