- Chapter 32 - I'm Not an Ordinary Fox; I Can Eat!
After it ended, Jiang Luoyue lay on the bed like a small turtle. Jiang Luoxing carried her to the next room and took her to bathe. The maid had already heated the water and prepared it. The tub was steaming hot, and the essential oils and petals were already inside. Jiang Luoxing climbed into the tub with her.
Jiang Luoyue felt her body was sore and weak, so Jiang Luoxing had to support her waist, letting her lean against him. He scooped up water with his hand and poured it over Jiang Luoyue, massaging her body to relieve her discomfort. However, with her curvy body pressed tightly against him, Jiang Luoxing’s mind couldn’t help but wander. Leaning against him, Jiang Luoyue initially whimpered like a kitten, but soon became drowsy. Jiang Luoxing openly took advantage of the situation, touching here and there, playing with her like a doll. After a good while, the water began to cool, and Jiang Luoxing carried Jiang Luoyue out of the tub. As soon as they returned to the room, he felt a strange sensation in his body.
Was he about to break through too? Jiang Luoxing was both surprised and incredibly happy. Spiritual energy surged through his body. Breaking through to the Golden Core Stage, Jiang Luoxing suddenly felt full of vigor. He looked at Jiang Luoyue, who was sleeping soundly beside him, her cheeks flushed, like a little pig. Jiang Luoxing couldn’t help but curve his lips into a smile. He kissed Jiang Luoyue’s face, but since he couldn’t sleep, he simply got up and went to the courtyard to practice.
As soon as Jiang Luoxing stepped out of the courtyard, Yue Wenqiu followed. Jiang Luoxing heard the footsteps behind him but didn’t stop what he was doing.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Yue Wenqiu asked, confused. He wouldn’t have been willing to leave the warm, soft beauty in his arms to go out and practice in the middle of the night.
“Can’t sleep,” Jiang Luoxing only glanced at him, not looking for long.
Sensing the spiritual energy fluctuations around Jiang Luoxing, Yue Wenqiu said, “You’ve broken through to the Golden Core Stage. That’s really great. It took me a hundred years of cultivation to break through the Golden Core Stage.”
Jiang Luoxing chuckled. “It is indeed my fortune to have met Elder Sister.”
A sword appeared in Yue Wenqiu’s hand. “Let’s spar.”
“I won’t spar,” Jiang Luoxing looked at him speechlessly. “You’re at the Nascent Soul Stage, and I’m at the early Golden Core Stage. I’d be finished with a flick of your finger.”
Yue Wenqiu laughed. “I’ll hold back my strength. You lack combat experience; let me train with you.”
Jiang Luoxing nodded in agreement. Lacking combat experience was indeed his weakness, and even at the same level, combat experience was a key factor for victory.
They sparred back and forth until dawn. Yue Wenqiu had intended for it to be a casual practice to pass the time, but he didn’t expect Jiang Luoxing to be so serious. Perhaps because Jiang Luoxing knew the difference between the Golden Core and Nascent Soul Stages, his moves were all killing blows; in any case, he couldn’t hurt Yue Wenqiu. Yue Wenqiu quickly began to respond seriously. As dawn broke, both men were exhausted.
“Hurry back. Luoyue doesn’t like it when, uh, she doesn’t like it when a man leaves right after,” Yue Wenqiu coughed awkwardly.
Jiang Luoxing quickly took a cold shower to save time. He rushed back to the room. Jiang Luoyue was still asleep. He carefully lay down beside her and hugged her in his arms. Although asleep, Jiang Luoyue felt Jiang Luoxing’s movements and burrowed into his embrace, placing her hand on his chest. Jiang Luoxing’s heart softened.
When Jiang Luoyue woke up, she found Jiang Luoxing staring at her and couldn’t help but blush, pulling the quilt over her face. “Why are you looking at me? Have you been awake for long?”
“I didn’t sleep much. I broke through the Golden Core Stage and sparred with Yue Wenqiu for a long time,” Jiang Luoxing said.
Jiang Luoyue was speechless. “Are you two that bored?” Why spar when you should be resting in the middle of the night? Jiang Luoxing smiled. The two didn’t delay and got up.
A maid brought a little fox to Jiang Luoyue’s courtyard. “Young Miss, the little fox’s wounds have healed,” the maid placed the little fox in Jiang Luoyue’s arms. “Does Young Miss have any other instructions?”
“No, you can go now,” Jiang Luoyue said, holding the little fox. She weighed it in her hands and found that the little fox was quite substantial. She used one hand to stroke the little fox’s fur. “The wound really is healed. Your recovery ability is quite strong.”
The little fox let out a triumphant hum, lifting its face, full of arrogance. Jiang Luoyue loved fluffy creatures. She was very good at petting cats and dogs. She scratched the little fox’s chin and chest. The little fox was clearly comfortable, lifting its head and humming softly.
“Does this little fellow have a name? Does it have a human form?” Yue Wenqiu gently stroked the little fox’s head. “Do you want to keep it?”
Jiang Luoyue really wanted to, because it was truly adorable. But then she remembered the scene of the little fox being chased, and she was a little afraid of trouble.
“What’s wrong?” Yue Wenqiu asked, seeing the look of struggle and hesitation on Jiang Luoyue’s face.
“I’ll tell you later,” Jiang Luoyue wanted to tell them about the little fox’s suspicious background when it wasn’t around. Yue Wenqiu nodded.
The little fox gave her a dissatisfied side-eye. She has a secret she’s keeping from me! However, it wasn’t interested in the secrets of these human cultivators, so it obediently lay in Jiang Luoyue’s arms, squinting its eyes and enjoying her petting. Yue Wenqiu patted the little fox’s head, but the little fox ignored him. He felt awkward asking for its name again. It truly is a little fox with personality.
Jiang Luoxing made a simple five-dish meal. The little fox in Jiang Luoyue’s arms smelled the fragrance of the food and drooled with greed, struggling restlessly in her arms.
“Little foxes shouldn’t eat food with too much oil and salt, should they? If you want to eat, I can make you food without oil or salt,” Jiang Luoyue stroked the little fox to appease it. The 21st-century notion was that if small animals ate too much food with heavy oil and salt, their fur wouldn’t be pretty, and they would develop tear stains.
“I’m not an ordinary fox! I want to eat! Quick, give me a bowl and chopsticks!” The little fox struggled restlessly. Jiang Luoyue couldn’t hold it, and the little fox jumped onto the table. Yue Wenqiu was quick and grabbed its scruff, or the little fox would have lunged into the bowl, and none of them would have been able to eat.
“I’ll go get a bowl,” Jiang Luoxing said, quickly getting up. If his sister didn’t like this cute little creature, he wouldn’t be giving it a good face. After getting a bowl, Jiang Luoyue filled it with food for it. The little fox chomped away happily.
“This fox has terrible table manners,” Jiang Luoxing said, looking at the little fox with distaste. Jiang Luoyue poked its back and its backside, but the little fox refused to lift its head, instead using its back paw to push her wrist away. Jiang Luoyue chuckled and stopped disturbing the temperamental little fox.
The little fox hadn’t expected the human world to have such delicious food. It was much better than the food of the Demon Clan. The little fox had originally intended to just stay here until its wounds healed and then leave, but now it suddenly wanted to stay longer.
