The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 33
Lu Lin’s under-eyes were bruised with dark circles, and his eyes were bloodshot as if he hadn’t rested properly for days; his entire being seemed devoid of energy.
For a fleeting moment, Sang Weilian actually felt that if the old Lu Lin had upright ears and a wagging tail, the current version of him would definitely have his ears and tail drooping.
Pressing their lips thin, the two stared at each other in silence until the elevator emitted a “beep-beep” sound from waiting too long.
Lu Lin lowered his gaze and reached out to take Sang Weilian’s hand.
This gesture appeared far too intimate to outsiders. Sang Weilian was startled and, out of a guilty conscience, reflexively tried to pull away.
Lu Lin felt the resistance. His brow dropped even lower as he stuffed the bag containing the lunch box into Sang Weilian’s hand, then let go: “Brother, remember to eat.”
Sang Weilian thought he was going to run off after saying that, but Lu Lin stood stubbornly in the elevator, refusing to budge an inch.
Yu Guangxi sensed the atmosphere was off but was unwilling to admit defeat. He took a stride inside and didn’t forget to call out: “Teacher Sang, come on up, the elevator is about to close automatically.”
The “beep-beep” of the elevator continued like a wordless urge, leaving Sang Weilian with no choice but to brace himself and step inside.
Upon reaching the twenty-sixth floor, Yu Guangxi held the open elevator door with his arm: “Teacher Sang, we’re here.”
“Mm,” Sang Weilian responded and exited the elevator with him.
The sound of steady footsteps followed behind them. When Sang Weilian slowed down, the person behind him slowed down; when he sped up, the person behind him sped up. Clearly, he was being followed.
Walking to the door of the meeting room, Sang Weilian abruptly stopped and instructed Yu Guangxi: “You go in first.”
Yu Guangxi’s breath hitched. He glanced at Lu Lin from the corner of his eye, unable to hide his disappointment: “Alright, then I’ll wait for you inside.”
Once the meeting room door was shut, Sang Weilian turned and walked toward the vacant, dim stairwell. As expected, Lu Lin followed him in.
As the stairwell door clicked shut, Sang Weilian turned around with one hand in his pocket, his dark blue eyes staring intently at the Alpha’s silhouette in the darkness: “Why are you following me?”
Lu Lin pursed his lips and pointed to the lunch box in his hand: “You didn’t eat lunch. It’s bad for your stomach.”
“After you finish eating, can I… can I stay?”
“Yeah, yeah, you go ahead. It’s a good time to talk about dissolving the agreement,” Sang Weilian said. Subconsciously, he felt that Lu Lin’s dodging was just a prelude to leaving, so he blurted out the thoughts he had been brewing all day.
It was only after he finished speaking that he realized what Lu Lin said seemed different from what he had imagined.
“…What did you just say?”
Lu Lin didn’t answer. Sang Weilian’s eyes, now adjusted to the dark, seemed to see the person in front of him bow his head slightly, his whole body radiating a thick sense of sorrow.
After a long while, he heard the other man’s small, pleading voice: “Brother, can we please not dissolve the agreement? Do you not want me anymore?”
Sang Weilian’s fingertips trembled. He didn’t want to admit it, but his heart had indeed softened a bit: “Weren’t you planning to leave?”
“I wasn’t going to leave,” Lu Lin looked up, desperately trying to explain himself. “I was just worried that you’d be scared seeing me. I’m the one who didn’t listen and messed things up, so you can punish me however you want, Brother… but I’m not leaving.”
“You hid for days because you thought I’d be afraid of you?” Sang Weilian gave a cold laugh. “If I hadn’t run into you in the elevator today, were you planning to follow me every day like a stalker? You’ve been following me all day today, haven’t you?”
Lu Lin looked as though he had been exposed, lowering his head in embarrassment: “I went to buy you food at noon and just now.”
Sang Weilian had just been speaking randomly; he never expected that Lu Lin had actually followed him all day. He was stunned for a moment, nearly driven to a frustrated laugh by the man’s twisted logic: “You certainly have your reasons.”
Checking the time, Sang Weilian felt that hashing this out with Lu Lin would take a while. It wasn’t appropriate to keep Yu Guangxi waiting in the meeting room indefinitely. Seeing that Lu Lin had nothing else to say, he moved to walk past him.
In a panic, Lu Lin reached out to grab him. The moment their skin touched, fearing he was too forceful, he loosened his grip slightly, until they were eventually just lightly hooking fingers.
Sang Weilian paused, his gaze sweeping over their linked hands. He asked, “Is there something else?”
“Brother, do you still want me?” Seeing that he didn’t resist the contact, Lu Lin took a step forward and grasped his hand firmly.
Sang Weilian kept his hand still and simply looked away: “I’ll consider it.”
The scent of mountain spring pheromones drifted over no pressure, no aggression. It was like a spoiled child circling around Sang Weilian.
Turning back, Sang Weilian indeed saw an irrepressible smile on the corner of Lu Lin’s mouth.
Such a pushover…
Sang Weilian wanted to smile but forced himself to hold it back. He cleared his throat: “Don’t follow me. I still have to give someone a lesson.”
Lu Lin’s smile froze. Yu Guangxi’s face flashed through his mind. After a long pause, he suppressed his jealousy and said: “Then remember to eat, Brother. I’ll go first…”
Sang Weilian pulled the room card from his pocket and handed it to him: “Go wait in my room.”
Lu Lin froze and didn’t take it.
“What? Not going? If not, then forget it.” Sang Weilian raised an eyebrow and moved to put the card back in his pocket.
Overwhelmed by the unexpected favor, Lu Lin rushed forward. Because he was in such a hurry, his feet stumbled, accidentally pinning Sang Weilian against the wall.
With one hand braced against the wall for balance, Lu Lin looked down and met Sang Weilian’s eyes.
The Alpha’s eyes were bright, his lips slightly parted. Having just passed through his heat, his face unintentionally carried a cold yet seductive charm.
As if possessed, Lu Lin leaned down. Before his lips could touch the other’s, he suddenly remembered the tears Sang Weilian had shed a few days ago. It was like a bucket of cold water over his head. He forced his movements to a halt, reached into Sang Weilian’s pocket to snatch the room card, and pulled away.
“Then I’ll wait for you in your room.”
Watching the back of the man as he fled in a panic, Sang Weilian was dazed.
He raised a hand to lightly touch his burning lips and took a deep breath. His lungs filled with the scent of Lu Lin’s pheromones. Slowly, he pushed back the regret of the missed kiss and walked out of the stairwell, feigning composure.
“Teacher Sang? Did something happen?” When the meeting room door pushed open, Yu Guangxi immediately looked toward Sang Weilian at the entrance.
His clothes were neat, his hair wasn’t messy—it seemed like nothing had happened.
Yu Guangxi observed him very closely. As a Beta, he couldn’t smell pheromones and couldn’t use them to determine if that Alpha had done anything to Sang Weilian, so he could only observe these external factors.
“Nothing.” Sang Weilian’s expression was indifferent.
Though he got the answer he wanted, Yu Guangxi was still incredibly unhappy. He had never craved being an Alpha as much as he did at this moment.
He didn’t believe Sang Weilian’s answer. He felt that the relationship between that Alpha and Sang Weilian was unusual, but he had no proof.
“What did you want to ask?” Sang Weilian set the food down. Although he had only eaten breakfast and was currently starving, he decided to finish the explanation before returning to his room to eat.
After asking, Yu Guangxi didn’t react at all, lost in thought.
Frowning, Sang Weilian asked again: “Yu Guangxi, what did you want to ask?”
Yu Guangxi snapped back to reality: “What do your pheromones smell like?”
He blurted out what he had been thinking.
Once the words were out and he saw Sang Weilian’s face turn cold, he woke up, realizing what nonsense he had just uttered.
“I-I’m sorry, I was just talking nonsense. Teacher Sang, I want to ask… here! Yes, right here!” Yu Guangxi didn’t dare look Sang Weilian in the eye, hurriedly pointing to a spot he had marked on the script.
Asking an Omega what their pheromones smell like is essentially sexual harassment. He must have lost his mind to say his inner thoughts out loud!
However, Sang Weilian no longer offered any patience: “From the moment I walked in, you’ve been staring at me and sizing me up. From what I can feel, today isn’t the first time.”
“I originally thought you were polite and knew your boundaries, so I never brought it up. But you seem to have misunderstood something. You have questions for me, and I teach you because I feel we are in the same crew and are co-stars working together for several months. Helping you for the sake of the movie is fine, but it is not mandatory.”
“If every time you see me, you are more interested in things outside of acting, then I’m afraid I won’t be accompanying you.”
Having said his piece, Sang Weilian picked up the food on the table again. Walking to the meeting room door, he paused and turned slightly to add:
“I heard you saw something when you ran out the night of the dinner party. Thank you for not spreading rumors. Of course, if you want to say anything in the future, please feel free; I will clarify it.”
“We are all adults. There are some things I don’t need to say for you to understand in your heart. I currently have no intention of dating, so I suggest you needn’t say certain words to disrupt the status quo.”
Yu Guangxi’s face turned deathly pale; he couldn’t say a single word.
Sang Weilian continued: “Additionally, while you are indeed not a naturally gifted actor, you know the principle that diligence can make up for a lack of talent. I believe that even without me teaching you, you can become a decent actor.”
“Once you’ve thought it through, if you still have questions about acting, you can still come and ask me.”
He opened the meeting room door and left without looking back.
Sitting in his chair, Yu Guangxi gripped his script, unable to utter another syllable.
He understood clearly now: the love he hadn’t yet voiced had already been strangled in its cradle.
The hotel room door was opened from the inside. Sang Weilian stepped in. Before he could speak, he was pulled into a warm embrace.
“Brother.” Lu Lin was like a large dog, rubbing against Sang Weilian incessantly.
The short hair tickled Sang Weilian, and he pushed him back unceremoniously: “Stop it, I’m hungry.”
Lu Lin stopped immediately. He took the bag from his hand and helped him break the chopsticks and open the lunch box: “Why are you back so soon? I thought you’d be teaching that person for a long time.”
The food was in an insulated container and was still warm. Sang Weilian answered while eating: “I ‘taught’ him.”
Though it was more of a “lecture” than “teaching.”
Lu Lin pursed his lips and rested his chin on his crossed hands on the edge of the table, his dark eyes overflowing with a mix of pitiful and envious emotions.
“That’s so nice,” he lamented.
Confused, Sang Weilian looked up at him.
“I’m so jealous he gets to be taught by Brother. You didn’t teach me; it must be because I’m not hardworking enough.” Lu Lin blinked and pouted, looking incredibly aggrieved.
“Cough…” Sang Weilian choked on a mouthful of rice. After recovering, he glared at him: “Stop being so sarcastic!”
