- The Ice-Cold Beauty Senior Sister Keeps Falling for Her Own Theories
- Chapter 7 - The Eldest Senior Sister Is Afraid of Water!
At the edge of the Lixin Cliff.
Elder Tan Feng was so furious he wished he could kick everyone off the cliff.
“Useless!”
“You couldn’t even keep an eye on your youngest junior sister, letting her fall off the Lixin Cliff!”
The disciples knelt in a scattered formation, not daring to even breathe loudly.
Enraged, he flicked his sleeve, and a burst of purple spiritual energy exploded in a nearby bamboo grove. The sturdy bamboo stalks were instantly pulverized, sending clouds of dust flying.
“What use does Bixia Sect have for you all!”
Chang Yuru rose from the edge of the cliff. Seeing Tan Feng’s furious state, she paused her steps and turned back, speaking lightly, “Second Uncle, you’re mistaken. We both saw it with our own eyes when we arrived, Feng Jie jumped down after her of her own accord.”
“You-”
“If someone wants to jump, what can anyone else do about it, hmm?”
“Wretched disciple, don’t think you can rely on-”
Chang Yuru let out a soft laugh, cutting him off. “In that case, this wretched disciple won’t stand here and offend your sight any longer. I’ll take my junior brothers and sisters and leave first.”
“Still not going? Planning to stay here and feed the eagles?”
“Boom!”
Another large crater appeared nearby as the disciples scattered and vanished without a trace.
Though furious, Tan Feng understood the gravity of the situation. He needed to report to the sect leader immediately.
When he rushed to the main peak of Bixia Sect, he found the main square crowded with people.
Densely packed, representatives from the seven major immortal sects had all arrived.
A sense of foreboding washed over him, and he quickened his pace.
“Hey, I heard the ancient divine artifact, the Bixin Sword, is hidden in the back mountains of Bixia Sect.”
“Exactly. Our master brought us here for this very reason. How dare Bixia Sect do such a thing?”
“As the lowest-ranked among the seven major immortal sects, Bixia Sect actually hid this ancient divine artifact. If clues hadn’t surfaced at the auction, the entire cultivation world would still be fooled by them!”
“Right!”
“Exactly!”
The Bixin Sword! Tan Feng’s pupils contracted, his brow twitched, and with a grim expression, he quickened his pace even further.
Inside the council hall, the atmosphere was tense.
Elders from the various immortal sects were arguing fiercely, each with their own schemes regarding the Bixin Sword.
After all, this was the only intact ancient divine artifact. Centuries ago, it was wielded by the Celestial Sword Venerable, who, with this sword alone, traversed the heavens and earth, slaying demons and sealing away the entire demon realm with his unparalleled bravery, a feat known to all.
If one could obtain the Bixin Sword, becoming the foremost immortal cultivator would be within reach!
Dao Xuanzi, the sect leader of Bixia Sect, sat in his seat with a forced smile, listening silently as the others debated the ownership of the Bixin Sword.
As expected, none of the arguments, whether “the Bixin Sword should belong to Qingyang Sect, the leader of the seven immortal sects,” or “the Bixin Sword should go to the Immortal Sword Sect, which specializes in sword techniques,” or even “the Celestial Sword Venerable was once the grand elder of Fuyuan Sect, so his Bixin Sword should be inherited by them”, were accepted by the seven major sects.
After entering the hall, Tan Feng hurried to Dao Xuanzi’s side. Exchanging a glance with him, he urgently transmitted his voice, “Senior Brother, they’re saying the Bixin Sword is in our Bixia Sect. What’s going on?”
“Hmm, it’s true.”
“But we’ve never heard of this before!”
“This matter has been a closely guarded secret within our sect for centuries, known only to the sect leader.”
After speaking, Dao Xuanzi sighed again. “When your third junior brother accidentally learned of this, his death caused the news to spread far and wide. There must be a connection.”
Tan Feng’s brow twitched, and he feigned nonchalance as he asked, “But, didn’t you previously say that third junior brother was killed by a demonic cultivator, and even pinned the blame on Gongsun Muhan?”
“That was a move of desperation. I never expected the matter would still leak out.”
“Has that traitor been captured?”
“Senior brother, I came precisely to report this.” Tan Feng instinctively took a step back and hesitated before saying, “Gongsun Muhan jumped off the Lixin Cliff, and… Feng Jie jumped as well.”
“What!”
Dao Xuanzi exclaimed in shock, nearly leaping from his seat.
He pressed a hand to his forehead, took a deep breath, and forced himself to calm down. Then, he pulled out an unnamed, dark-blue nameplate from his robe. Seeing it still glowing faintly, he relaxed slightly.
“Do you not understand Feng Jie’s importance? How could you fail at such a simple task…”
“Quickly, gather all the elders and disciples. I will join you shortly.”
“Feng Jie must not come to harm!”
“Yes.”
Seeing Tan Feng acknowledge the order and hurry away, Dao Xuanzi still felt uneasy. He had to go and see for himself.
As he rose to leave, representatives from the major immortal sects stood up one after another.
“Sect Leader Dao, what is the meaning of this? Do you look down on us? Or do you intend to oppose all the immortal sects and monopolize this divine artifact for yourself?”
Dao Xuanzi chuckled lightly. “I wouldn’t dare. I’ve just received word that my youngest disciple has fallen from a cliff. I’ve doted on this disciple since childhood, and we share a deep bond. I am truly worried and wish to depart ahead of you.”
“Oh? Could this be your illegitimate child?”
The leader of the Qisheng Sect couldn’t resist making a sarcastic remark. Over the past century, the Bixia Sect had always been at the bottom, but in recent decades, they had shown signs of challenging the Qisheng Sect’s position. He couldn’t resist needling Dao Xuanzi.
“Sect Leader Qi, you jest.”
“I see that all of you hold differing views regarding the Bixin Sword, and it will likely take some time to reconcile your perspectives. Why not continue your discussions here in the assembly hall? Whatever conclusion you reach, the Bixia Sect will accept it.”
Hearing this, the representatives were somewhat surprised. Dao Xuanzi had always been known for fiercely contending over every advantage, yet now he was showing such leniency.
Dao Xuanzi raised his hands in a respectful salute, his expression full of concern as he said, “I beg your indulgence to allow me to depart first. A master cannot help but worry when his disciple is in trouble.”
Hearing this, a female immortal in Taoist robes stepped forward, pressing a single palm to her chest in return salute. “Very well. We all share the sentiment of caring for our disciples. May Sect Leader Dao’s disciple be safe.”
The others, seeing this, said nothing more.
Dao Xuanzi expressed his thanks and prepared to teleport away.
But the leader of the Qisheng Sect stopped him. Something felt off, how could Dao Xuanzi leave at such a critical moment? There must be some hidden secret.
“Sect Leader Dao, the path of cultivation has always upheld the greater dao as paramount. Isn’t it improper for you to prioritize personal matters? Your disciple concerns only you, but the Bixin Sword affects the entire world and the balance between immortals and demons.”
Dao Xuanzi stood there, smiling without a word, though a flicker of darkness passed through his eyes.
“Besides, perhaps this ‘disciple’ is just an excuse. The Bixin Sword was found in your territory, if you had tampered with it, none of us would have noticed.”
“Everyone, don’t you agree?”
Hearing this, the various immortal sects wavered. Many stepped forward to persuade: “Sect Leader Dao, perhaps you should stay. Saving your disciple can be entrusted to others in your sect.”
“The Bixin Sword is far too important, we truly cannot proceed without Sect Leader Dao.”
Being unable to leave when he wished to was truly agonizing…
Dao Xuanzi suppressed his frustration and returned to his seat. Once he unraveled the secrets of the spirit body, not only the immortal sects but even the demon realm would grovel at his feet.
Little did the immortal sects know that by stopping the only person capable of quickly locating and rescuing Feng Jie, they would later fail to even catch a glimpse of the Bixin Sword, a regret that would gnaw at them endlessly.
…
Meanwhile, Feng Jie, having fallen into the water, first thought about how unattractive her corpse would look, and Gongsun Muhan’s as well.
They would both become pale and bloated from soaking…
Yet, for some reason, the water felt strangely familiar, as if she had encountered it somewhere before.
The moment she touched the water, she moved like a fish, swimming and diving with a fluidity that seemed practiced for eight hundred years.
Was this a golden finger granted by her transmigration? She had no memory of possessing such swimming skills. Once her system, Shabi, woke up, she would have to ask.
Suddenly, she spotted several flowing white veils ahead, slowly sinking as if wrapped around something.
She hurriedly swam over and pulled Gongsun Muhan out.
Surfacing, she swept her wet hair from her forehead and shakily reached out a hand, still breathing.
She tried to drag Gongsun Muhan to shore, but as soon as she stood up at the water’s edge, a splitting headache struck, making it hard to breathe as if her heart might stop any second.
So, dragging Gongsun Muhan, she plunged back into the water. Holding her companion close, she surfaced just enough to catch her breath, her vision clearing after a few seconds.
Looking around, she realized she could barely see, aside from the dark water below, the shores were shrouded in gray-black mist, or more accurately, poisonous miasma, which also hung thickly overhead.
However, she keenly noticed that the miasma didn’t reach a few inches above the water’s surface or the shore. Combined with the relief she felt upon returning to the water, she deduced that the pond and the miasma must counteract each other.
Carefully kneeling half on the shore, Feng Jie positioned Gongsun Muhan face down, pressing her knee against her abdomen while gently patting her back. Soon, Gongsun Muhan coughed up several mouthfuls of water.
“Senior Sister?”
“Senior Sister!”
Feng Jie called out several times, but Gongsun Muhan remained unconscious, eyes shut tight.
Seeing this, Feng Jie quickly turned Gongsun Muhan over, pressing her against the shore. To stay within the safe zone, both their lower bodies remained submerged.
Bracing with her legs, she pinched Gongsun Muhan’s nose with one hand, lifted her chin with the other, tilted her head, and leaned down to cover her lips.
Hoo… hoo…
Hoo… hoo… hoo…
After several breaths, the figure beneath her stirred.
Feng Jie was shoved, losing her balance, and stumbled back into the pond.
In a swift motion, she flipped like a carp and swam back.
“Senior Sister, how are you feeling? Are you still uncomfortable anywhere? Dizzy? Does your heart ache?”
“Water, water…”
Gongsun Muhan felt utterly weak, a suffocating sensation overwhelming her. Her lower body felt heavy, as if the water had transformed into countless hands, tightly gripping her, slowly dragging her down into a dark vortex.
It seemed she couldn’t make a sound no matter how hard she tried, only slipping down, down, down…
“Senior Sister!”
Seeing Gongsun Muhan’s face full of terror, her lips parted wide but her eyes unfocused as she gradually slipped into the water, Feng Jie was terrified. She rushed over and immediately held her tight.
Holding her close, she slowly inched toward the shore while softly comforting her, “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. I’m here with you.”
Before long, Gongsun Muhan curled her limbs and nestled entirely into Feng Jie’s embrace, avoiding any contact with the water.
If Feng Jie guessed correctly, Gongsun Muhan must be terribly afraid of water, perhaps even haunted by deep psychological trauma related to it.
But she wasn’t a psychologist; all she could do was hold her a little tighter.
Coincidentally, someone who has nearly drowned needs warmth, and she could provide that heat for Gongsun Muhan.
Time passed slowly, and it was unclear how long had gone by. Feng Jie stared at the mist before her forehead, shifting with the wind and changing shape with the flow.
Suddenly, she heard Gongsun Muhan speak.
