- The Honest Man Was Targeted by His Ex-Boyfriend's Alpha Brother
- Chapter 27 - The Hug: Get This Straight, He Has No Lovers.
It was not until his mother began a series of mutterings about how “this child is so pitiful” and walked over to close the window, fearing Hua Yunlian might catch a cold, that Chen Wang realized the man had been acting spoiled.
He truly had no shame.
Yuan Mingxiao had seen through this so-called boss’s improper behavior long ago. With a grim expression, he patted Chen Wang and said warmly, “I won’t make things difficult for you, Xiao Wang. Let us get in touch later.”
“Stop chatting. Brother Chen Wang, I did not bring pajamas. Find me some of your personal clothes to wear.” Hua Yunlian stood between the two men, refusing to rest for even a moment.
Chen Wang felt as though he were dealing with a pampered child who usually lived in luxury but found even leftovers in the countryside to be a novelty. Feeling helpless, he replied, “Fine.”
The winter sky turned dark early. Mother Chen was frail, and although she had been laughing at Hua Yunlian’s attempts to amuse her, she soon felt fatigued and went to her room to sleep. Chen Yuxi sat cross-legged on the sofa, watching her brother busily prepare toiletries for the young master, and let out a scoff.
Hearing this, Hua Yunlian looked up and asked coolly, “Do you have a big problem with me?”
Chen Yuxi curled her lip. “I am just a student. How would I dare provoke the President of the Hua Group?”
Like attracts like, but Alphas repel one another; the tension between the two was thick. Every word she spoke was laced with thorns.
“Besides, that private hospital is at most a tiny shrimp among your investments. If a lowly employee gets sick, would the Great President Hua really abandon group business to travel thousands of miles to the slums just for a visit?”
Chen Yuxi was much sharper than he had imagined. She was also an Alpha and knew exactly how their kind behaved. She could easily see through the filthy thoughts a man might have toward a refined, submissive Beta or Omega.
“I truly find it curious. You and my brother should not be that close, right?”
Hua Yunlian narrowed his eyes, growing impatient. Just by looking at her casual, “Scumbag Alpha” aura, he could guess how she had deceived Qiao Yuan. Although he and Qiao Yuan were engaged for the sake of their families’ interests, they were still friends. Having his friend temporarily marked by a low-class female thug felt like an insult to his own status. It seemed she had not learned her lesson from the previous beating. If it were not for the warm hospitality of Mother Chen, he would have called his bodyguards back from the hotel to give this girl a severe thrashing.
“Based on your tone, you seem quite protective of your brother,” Hua Yunlian snorted, crossing his arms. “What is the matter? Are you afraid I will give him a temporary mark too?”
Chen Yuxi’s expression changed. She knew he was up to no good! The Alpha, who had just been acting spoiled and pitiful, rubbed his chin and mused, “It is a pity your brother is a Beta. I wonder how many bites it would take to get a reaction out of him?”
“Shut your mouth!” Chen Yuxi roared, lunging forward to grab his collar.
Hua Yunlian suddenly laughed. If she knew he had already been with Chen Wang a thousand times, what kind of expression would this hot-headed brat make?
Chen Yuxi knew he was capable of anything, and her hands shook with rage. “I am warning you. Chen Wang has been a bookworm since he was a child. Whether it is love or things in bed, he understands nothing. If you dare hurt him, I, Chen Yuxi, will absolutely kill you.”
Her expression was chillingly cold. Her serious demeanor caused Hua Yunlian to pause.
“Ha, where do you get the nerve?”
Chen Yuxi did not quite understand her current feelings. However, she had not been idle lately; her wide network of contacts allowed her to hear a lot about Chen Wang’s past relationship with Hua Jingchen. She had not expected her dull brother to have the ability to fall in love like that. He did not care for money or gain; he gave his heart and soul to that man. In return, that man had ripped his heart out, dumping him for a fiancée with a powerful family.
But Chen Wang never relied on anyone, and since the siblings were not on great terms, he had never shared his pain with her. Chen Yuxi had always been a blunt Alpha. The only reason she felt this way now was because she had been spending more time with Qiao Yuan. Being in a disadvantaged position due to her poor background made her empathize deeply with Chen Wang’s past situation.
Her hands trembled. “I mean what I say!”
She knew clearly that if Chen Wang faced off against Hua Yunlian, whether he fell in love or not, he would not be able to escape unscathed.
“You and that bastard Hua Jingchen stay away from him. If you want to play, go find a prostitute. Do not provoke an honest man!”
At the mention of the name he hated most, Hua Yunlian’s face darkened. His Damascus Rose pheromones surged, instantly crushing the volatile scent of vodka. Hua Yunlian spoke slowly, “Threatening me? Little sister, you are nowhere near my level.”
Chen Yuxi felt as if her heart were being squeezed by a giant hand. It nearly stopped beating. she stumbled back several steps and fell onto the sofa, suppressing the urge to vomit.
Chen Wang finally found a set of cotton pajamas he had worn in college. As soon as he entered the living room, he sensed the wrong atmosphere. Seeing the two of them glaring at each other like two wild beasts baring their teeth in silence, he wished he could pull out a whip and lash both of these brats.
He frowned and said, “Chen Yuxi, stop playing around. Go to sleep.” He then looked at Hua Yunlian. He wanted to scold him but feared he could not handle the fallout, so he restrained himself and said, “President Hua, it is time for you to sleep as well.”
This was the first time Chen Wang had proactively invited him to sleep. Hua Yunlian raised an eyebrow and stood up. This subtle sense of novelty was enough to draw him in.
In the dead of night, once the door was closed, the small room held only the two of them. Every breath could be heard. The atmosphere turned suggestive. Chen Wang avoided looking at him, keeping his back turned and remaining silent as he quietly prepared the bed. Hua Yunlian thought he looked like a sulking little wife, which was surprisingly cute. The desire he had suppressed for days began to stir.
Chen Wang urged him, “What are you standing there for? Change your clothes.”
While Hua Yunlian undressed, he looked around the dilapidated old house. He felt a bit discouraged, thinking that any movement might wake Mother Chen and Chen Yuxi. However, the image of Chen Wang biting his lower lip with a flushed face appeared in his mind. He licked his canine teeth, his interest piqued.
Hua Yunlian was actually much busier than Chen Wang imagined. Even while changing into pajamas, he took several calls from headquarters. Countless people and projects were waiting for his decisions and progress updates. Chen Wang sat on the single bed and only glanced over when the man turned his back to take a call.
Hua Yunlian was bare-chested. Just as he pulled the faded pajamas over his head, he focused on instructing his subordinates. Chen Wang’s eyes flickered. He had to admit the man’s physique was excellent. His broad shoulders and narrow waist formed an inverted triangle that no amount of gym time could achieve. With such a thin waist, he was likely the “hound waist” type most loved in wealthy Omega circles.
Chen Wang’s face turned inexplicably hot as he recalled the man riding him. He truly was a mad dog.
Hua Yunlian hung up and finished changing. He looked at the clothes with disdain. “A bit tight.” After all, his frame was large enough to swallow Chen Wang. His business suits usually hid his bulging muscles, but they were very obvious in bed.
“Brother,” he pointed at the gray and white striped clothes, his eyes full of mockery, “I did not realize your taste in clothes was this bad.”
Chen Wang let out a forced cough. “You need the means to be fashionable. Stop being difficult and just wear them.”
Before the young master could utter another insult, Chen Wang stepped forward, pressed his hands on Hua Yunlian’s shoulders, and pushed him onto the bed. “Hurry up.”
Hua Yunlian was flattered and genuinely shocked. So proactive? Did the sun rise in the west? Was he trying to please him because he was afraid he would die on the bed?
Then, Hua Yunlian watched as Chen Wang cleaned the floor. He laid down an old straw mat, followed by a thick mattress, and finally brought over a pillow and a blanket. He lay down properly and turned off the light. The small room plunged into darkness, leaving Hua Yunlian sitting on the bed in stunned silence.
“You are sleeping on the floor?”
In the darkness, Chen Wang did not answer, appearing to be asleep. Hua Yunlian was not the type of Alpha to chase after someone endlessly, but he had never experienced a lover sleeping on the floor before. Moreover, Chen Wang was the first person he had ever been with. In a romantic sense, he was technically Hua Yunlian’s first love, though the young master would never admit it.
Hua Yunlian scratched his hair in frustration. For some reason, seeing Chen Wang do this voluntarily made him feel strange.
Chen Wang was tired and soon began to drift off. He was a realist and a man of action; he did not indulge in internal conflict or complicated thoughts. He had unintentionally offended the high-maintenance Hua Yunlian countless times, but he had become numb to it. Hua Yunlian was a bastard anyway, so why bother trying to guess his thoughts?
Having been away from home for so long, the scent of dry wood from the old furniture was familiar. Chen Wang felt comfortable as he drifted into sleep. Suddenly, a corner of his blanket was lifted. A hot, agile body slid in, and long arms wrapped around him. Hua Yunlian pressed himself tightly against Chen Wang’s back. His pheromones smelled like slightly bitter rose perfume, which was surprisingly pleasant.
“Brother Chen Wang, are you asleep? I cannot sleep.”
Chen Wang was annoyed and ignored him. The man soon began to press against him from behind through his trousers. If this continued, things would definitely escalate. He rolled over abruptly and asked hoarsely, “What are you doing?”
The young master’s amber eyes caught a glint of light from the window, shining like two small golden mirrors in the dark, giving Chen Wang a fright. His heart pounded as he remembered that Hua Yunlian could transform into a beast.
“No one can sleep with their eyes wide open!” Chen Wang grew irritated the moment he faced him and took a few deep breaths.
Hua Yunlian blinked. Like a feline at a night club, he was completely unaware of Chen Wang’s inner panic.
“I knew your living environment was bad, but I did not realize the interior of the slums was this chaotic. So, is a large portion of your monthly salary sent home?”
At the mention of this, Chen Wang grew frustrated. He controlled his temper and lay flat. “Why ask? You have already ruined my jobs anyway.”
Hua Yunlian fell silent. Chen Wang knew the man had never suffered and understood nothing, so he began to murmur to himself.
“I should provide for my father’s debts, my mother’s medical fees, and my sister’s living expenses. We are family. Who else can we rely on but each other? Especially since my father is a gambler who vanishes whenever he owes money. Yuxi is still young and has an unsettled personality. Although my mother was strict with me and forced me to study, I know it was for my own good. she exhausted herself raising us. I must repay her and give her a good life. My mother is the only one I can truly rely on.”
Hua Yunlian suddenly spoke, “That is so touching.”
Chen Wang was startled by the deep voice in his ear. “You are not asleep?”
“No.” Hua Yunlian’s voice sounded strange, as if he were suppressing something.
Chen Wang soon sensed something was wrong. He propped himself up and pressed his hand on the man’s shoulder; the person beneath his palm was trembling imperceptibly. His sleepiness vanished instantly. “Hua Yunlian? What is wrong?”
Hua Yunlian did not reply immediately. Fearing the man might die in his room, Chen Wang tried to get out of bed to turn on the light, but his wrist was caught by a cool, large hand. Listening closely, he could hear the man’s teeth chattering, even though the room was not cold.
“I am fine. The room is too small and dark. Pull the curtain back a little.”
Chen Wang paused, then leaned over to pull the curtain. The deep blue night seemed bottomless, with fine snowflakes drifting in the air. As the moonlight filtered in, Hua Yunlian kept his eyes closed. This wicked brat actually looked fragile at this moment.
Claustrophobia? Chen Wang had thought he was just being difficult. Now he realized there must be experiences in the man’s past he knew nothing about.
“Go sleep on the bed,” Hua Yunlian said muffledly. “I won’t pay if you see something you shouldn’t in the middle of the night and get scared to death.”
Chen Wang narrowed his eyes. “You are the one who crawled into my blanket.” He looked closely and saw a pair of round leopard ears poking out from the man’s light chestnut hair.
He was trembling, and the leopard ears were also shaking in a “plane ear” position. He looked quite pitiful. Chen Wang’s fingertips itched; humans have an instinct to touch fluffy things. But he bit his lip and resisted. He was still very angry with Hua Yunlian and could not give in the moment they met.
Chen Wang had never asked where the leopard form came from. in the technologically advanced Modern Federation, this condition was like something out of a horror movie. He did not know when the leopard form would appear. Besides ears and a tail, were there other parts that could appear individually? There were too many mysteries surrounding this high-maintenance little leopard, and it began to pique Chen Wang’s passion for glandular genetics. He even began to list several research directions in his mind.
Hua Yunlian curled up in the blanket with no intention of leaving. Chen Wang let out a quiet sigh. Propping himself up on his elbow, he looked down at him and asked softly, “Are you afraid of the dark?”
The young master was proud and certainly would not admit it. Chen Wang continued, “I will teach you a method.”
He gently took one of Hua Yunlian’s arms and wrapped it around the man’s opposite shoulder, then did the same with the other arm. He placed him in a protective, self-hugging posture. “You can gently pat yourself with your hands to give yourself encouragement and comfort, and take deep breaths at the same time.”
Chen Wang was rarely this gentle with him. In the pitch-black night, only his patient, slow voice could be heard, guiding Hua Yunlian bit by bit. “This movement can effectively control emotions and reduce stress. When you feel out of control, you can try hugging yourself.”
This soothing and patting action was very much like a mother comforting an anxious child. Chen Wang was being persuasive, adopting the attitude of a professional doctor. He knew a thing or two about psychology.
Unexpectedly, Hua Yunlian let go of his hands and continued to let himself shiver. Chen Wang was nearly dizzied by the shaking of those round leopard ears. The young master stated, “No, it is too tiring.”
Chen Wang disliked this self-destructive behavior. “Then what do you want to do? Listen to me, I am right.”
Hua Yunlian curled up slightly. Even so, he was much larger than Chen Wang. “You help me,” he said, his face buried in the quilt.
Chen Wang thought he was truly lazy. He slid into the warm blanket, tucked the man’s head into his arm, and wrapped his other arm around the man’s shoulder. Hua Yunlian buried his face in Chen Wang’s chest and remained silent, being unusually well-behaved.
Chen Wang sighed. “Other patients do not get this treatment. President Hua truly knows how to enjoy himself.”
Hua Yunlian replied, “Stop rambling.”
Chen Wang wrapped the blanket tightly around the man and patiently patted him. The frequency of Hua Yunlian’s shivering slowly decreased. Taking advantage of the situation, Chen Wang touched the soft, springy leopard ears a few times; the fluffy, smooth texture was a pleasant surprise. Hua Yunlian let out a sensitive groan. But by then, he was sleepy. smelling the fresh scent of laundry detergent on Chen Wang’s clothes, his mind grew hazy, and he did not protest.
He slept very soundly that night. In his dream, his mother did not lock him in a tiny, lightless rental room but held him gently, stroking his hair and saying she would never leave him.
The next morning, Chen Wang was woken up by the heat. Sleeping with Hua Yunlian for a night was like holding a constant electric heater. Chen Wang’s cheeks were flushed, and he was sweating. His arm had gone numb from being slept on, and he let out a pained hiss.
He tried to get up but found the man was like an octopus, his arms and legs gripping him tightly. No wonder it was so hot; he thought he was sleeping on a flaming mountain. His parched throat urged hoarsely, “Hua Yunlian, get up.”
The young master slept like a cat with its belly up, motionless. Chen Wang’s temper vanished whenever he dealt with him. He slowly closed his eyes again. Perhaps he could sleep for another ten minutes?
“Chen Wang! Hua Yunlian! Get up and eat!” Chen Yuxi’s loud voice boomed from outside the room, followed by a loud knocking on the door.
Chen Wang was startled. He absolutely could not let his sister see the two of them sleeping in the same blanket, hugging like this. With a swift kick, he knocked Hua Yunlian onto the bare floor. “Coming, coming!”
The young master sat up in a daze. “?”
No matter how much Hua Yunlian respected Mother Chen, he could not allow Chen Wang to stay in the slums hiding from him forever. Chen Wang knew this clearly, so he planned to return to the Central City today. There were too many illegal buildings in the area, so the helicopter landing spot was some distance away, requiring them to walk.
As they left, Mother Chen walked with them for a long distance. She excitedly held Hua Yunlian’s hand. “Yunlian, Xiao Wang rarely brings friends home. Even though you are his boss, I know you two must have a great relationship. I can tell you are different toward him.”
Hua Yunlian usually could not stand such enthusiasm, but hearing this, his heart skipped a beat. Her words and gaze were meaningful, and her weather-worn face held a gentle, calm smile.
Fearing the young master might lose his temper, Chen Wang quickly intervened. “Mom, what are you saying? He is a big boss with countless employees. I am just a nobody. Why say such things?”
Mother Chen looked at him with disdain for not being warm enough toward Hua Yunlian. Her thin hand held a woven bag. “These are various side dishes I pickled myself. They taste good enough to open a shop! I have prepared a few for you; they last a long time. You can eat them with wine or rice. Take them back and enjoy them slowly.” She smiled warmly. “Do not look down on them, child.”
Chen Wang knew Hua Yunlian had a bad personality and was picky about food. He would surely either refuse these side dishes or throw them away immediately. Chen Wang did not want his mother’s kindness to be wasted and reached out to take them.
To his surprise, Hua Yunlian took them first, his expression unusually gentle. He smiled slightly. “Thank you, Auntie. You have gone to a lot of trouble. I will enjoy them.”
Chen Wang glanced at him with surprise but said nothing. After walking a bit further, he urged his sister to help their mother back home.
Chen Wang kept a close eye on Hua Yunlian’s actions. The young master was dressed in a trendy outfit, carrying a woven bag printed with tutoring advertisements that looked completely out of place, yet he seemed to have no intention of throwing it away.
Chen Wang could not help but say, “My mother is very enthusiastic. Do not mind her. I know you are usually very particular about hygiene and high-end food. If you do not want to eat them, give them to me.”
Hua Yunlian raised an eyebrow. “Who said I do not want to eat them? So, the reason you took me to that small noodle shop before was intentional.”
Chen Wang had not expected the conversation to shift so suddenly. Having his thoughts exposed, he felt a bit embarrassed. “I just did not have money to go to a restaurant,” he said honestly. “Young Master Hua ruined two of my jobs at once. Where would I get money to eat?”
Hua Yunlian clicked his tongue. Such a good atmosphere had been ruined by him. All he ever thought about was work. If he had just lowered his head and acted submissively sooner, like other Omegas who looked at him with sparkling eyes wanting money, would they have had so many conflicts?
Hua Yunlian asked knowingly, “What was your major again?”
“Glandular genetic internal and external surgery,” Chen Wang answered honestly.
Hua Yunlian sneered, “A doctor cannot heal himself. You really should research whether a Beta’s genes consist only of work cells.”
Chen Wang: “?”
Several idle figures suddenly appeared at the intersection. They seemed to have been waiting. seeing Chen Wang, the Alphas standing there stood up, whistled at him, and walked over quickly.
Hua Yunlian looked at them as if they were ants. “What is going on?”
“Oh, these rogue Alphas tried to… yesterday,” he could not finish, feeling humiliated. “They tried to molest me. Yuan Mingxiao drove them away.” Chen Wang felt a headache. “I do not know why they are here again. There are only two of us and we have luggage. Should I call your bodyguards?”
Hua Yunlian slowly cracked his neck, the veins on his forehead pulsing. “Oh?” He looked indifferently at the men blocking the way and approached them step by step.
“You mean they molested you, and you were saved by that ugly straight man?”
One annoying thing after another. While Chen Wang was slowly figuring out who the “ugly straight man” was, the Alphas sneered, “Yo, another white face. How can a Beta like you be so promiscuous? You have so many lovers?”
Hua Yunlian’s long fingers moved nimbly as he clenched his right fist, which let out a series of cracks.
“Get this straight. He has no lovers.”
His cold face was expressionless, but Chen Wang, who knew him well, recognized the signs of an impending storm. The leader of the thugs spat. “Then who are you?”
Before anyone could react, the Alpha struck out with a swift punch, neatly taking down the thug closest to him. A tooth flew into the air along with some blood. Hua Yunlian’s eyes were dark and arrogant as he corrected them:
“Boyfriend.”
