- The Honest Man Was Targeted by His Ex-Boyfriend's Alpha Brother
- Chapter 26 - So Cold, Is This Poser’s Family Running a Tea Plantation?!
The pain in his jaw became increasingly sharp. Chen Wang couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan, feeling as though Hua Yunlian wanted to crush him to death.
How does this man have the nerve to be angry? Chen Wang was the one whose jobs had been ruined and whose sources of income had vanished, yet he wasn’t even the one exploding!
Just then, a woman’s terrified shriek erupted from behind them: “Let go of my son!”
Everyone froze. Even Hua Yunlian looked over, dazed.
A thin, frail woman carrying a vegetable basket rushed forward. She snatched Chen Wang away from the bodyguards and shielded him behind her like a mother beast protecting her cub.
“Get away! All of you, get away!”
Facing the 190cm tall Hua Yunlian and a swarm of ferocious-looking bodyguards, her eyes were filled with panic, yet she maintained a stance that suggested she would fight to the death if anyone dared touch her child.
Chen Wang was terrified that his mother might have an asthma attack from the stress, and equally afraid that the young master might lose his mind and disregard everyone. He quickly pressed his mother’s arm down and said softly, “Mom, it’s okay. This is…”
He paused to think. “My boss.”
Since he owed the man over a million, calling him “boss” wasn’t technically a lie.
Hua Yunlian shot Chen Wang a cold look. Facing this fiercely protective mother, he felt a flicker of envy and decided to take the offered exit.
“Mm.”
The bodyguard who had just pummeled Yuan Mingxiao hauled him up and even patted the dust off his clothes, acting as if everything were perfectly harmonious.
Yuan Mingxiao, confused by the situation, assumed Chen Wang was being hunted by some underworld black-hearted boss. “Xiao Wang, what’s going on? Are you being threatened by him?!”
In front of his own mother, what else could Chen Wang say?
He could only brace himself and lie. “No, no. I’ve been a bit stressed at work lately and skipped a few days. My boss traveled all the way from Central City specifically to… check on me.”
He stole a guilty glance at the man.
Hua Yunlian licked his canine tooth. Seizing a moment when no one was looking, he mouthed a silent message to Chen Wang. From the lip movement, it was clearly: “I’m going to fuck you.”
But when Chen Wang’s mother cast a worried and curious gaze his way, the young master did an about-face and became remarkably well-behaved.
“Yes. Caring for employees is what a boss should do.”
His lazy gaze shifted to Yuan Mingxiao’s bruised face. He said with total indifference, “As for this gentleman, I thought he was a rogue stalking Brother Chen Wang with ill intent. I landed a few hits in passing. Don’t take it to heart, brother.”
The corners of his mouth curled into a defiant smirk.
A bodyguard picked up the phone with the cracked screen and shoved it at Yuan Mingxiao, along with a stack of cash that far exceeded the phone’s value—a gesture that was simultaneously sincere and dismissive.
Chen Wang’s mother felt something was slightly off. Does a big boss call his own employee ‘Brother’?
Perhaps people from Central City were just that humble. She managed a smile, and her heart finally settled. She even warmly invited Hua Yunlian and Yuan Mingxiao to their home for dinner.
Chen Wang tried to stop her, but it was too late. Both men accepted faster than the other.
Chen Yu Xi heard that dinner was starting and was in the kitchen rinsing rice, estimating how much to make. To her horror, she saw Hua Yunlian’s flashy, arrogant figure appearing in their ancient, dilapidated little courtyard.
The rice scoop fell from her hand. Her expression was no different from someone witnessing a zombie invasion.
“Holy shit!”
The environment of Chen Wang’s home was even worse than Hua Yunlian had imagined. Because of this, he understood even less why Chen Wang would spend so much effort on his social media persona and luxury goods. Perhaps it was a case of extremes meeting—poverty driving someone to madness?
Chen Yu Xi still remembered how brutally Hua Yunlian’s men had beaten her. She looked at him with hostility. “What are you doing here?”
The man swept a cold, indifferent glance over her, as if she were a snot-nosed brat. “None of your business.”
The moment Chen Wang’s mother walked in, Hua Yunlian immediately switched back to an elegant and noble smile. “Thank you for the hospitality, Auntie. I rarely get to eat at a friend’s house. I am very happy.”
Chen Yu Xi whispered, “Who brought this poser back?”
She gave Yuan Mingxiao a polite nod, then grabbed Chen Wang. “What is going on?”
Chen Wang closed his eyes in pain. “I’ll explain later.”
His mother rarely saw Chen Wang bring friends home, let alone his big boss! She bustled about, serving tea and water, absolutely delighted. Especially since Hua Yunlian was a handsome, mixed-race man with sharp features; he looked like an angel descending upon her shack, lighting up the entire dilapidated house. Even the habitually lazy Chen Yu Xi was ordered to go peel vegetables.
Hua Yunlian lifted his thin eyelids, looking at Yuan Mingxiao with the pity of a victor.
During dinner, the small round table was packed to capacity, making the atmosphere exceptionally lively. Hua Yunlian and Yuan Mingxiao sat on either side of Chen Wang, neither willing to yield an inch.
Chen Wang’s shoulders were squeezed from both sides, and the space he had to sit in grew smaller and smaller. “…”
Yuan Mingxiao saw his discomfort and proactively moved aside. He was also a man with a strong personality and a rugged appearance, but he didn’t want to make things difficult for Chen Wang. He proactively placed some food in Chen Wang’s bowl and smiled warmly. “Eat more. You weren’t this thin when we were kids.”
“Though you’re still very handsome like this,” he added with a wink.
Mentioning their childhood felt like a private territory only the two of them knew, where no one else could intrude. Chen Wang smiled. “You’re the one who changed the most. You’ve completely outshone me!”
Hua Yunlian’s expression turned greener than the vegetables, his brow clouded with shadows. He let out a light cough as if his throat were uncomfortable.
Chen Wang’s body immediately stiffened. He knew Hua Yunlian would not let him off easily. With a helpless sigh, he proactively placed a chicken wing in the man’s bowl. “President Hua, you should eat more too.”
Hua Yunlian arched an eyebrow, cast a deliberate glance at Yuan Mingxiao. It was as if he were saying: What is giving someone food? Having someone proactively serve me is the real talent.
Utterly unaware of the friction between the two, Chen Wang’s mother beamed with satisfaction. Seeing her son get along so well with his superior, she was filled with pride.
“Oh, it’s so wonderful having so many young people around. The house feels so lively!”
After dinner, she took the two young men to see Chen Wang’s room. She pointed at a wall entirely covered in merit certificates and laughed until the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes bunched up.
“Xiao Wang has had good grades since he was little. His father and I didn’t understand much of it, we just knew it was good! I just hope that when he grows up, he works hard for his boss and makes plenty of money. President Hua, if you have any dirty or exhausting work, feel free to give it to him!”
She clumsily spoke polite words, trying to please the successful young leader.
Chen Wang felt a bit embarrassed. “Why are you saying all that…”
Hua Yunlian smiled slightly. “Brother Chen Wang is indeed very excellent.”
Chen Wang was stunned and stole a look at him. He had heard many insults from Hua Yunlian’s mouth, but sincere praise was very, very rare. They were passionate and shameless in bed, but when he thought about it, they didn’t actually know each other that well.
Does he really think that? Chen Wang felt a complex mix of emotions.
Yuan Mingxiao also stepped forward. “Xiao Wang has been the class monitor since childhood. I was shorter than him back then, so he always protected me. Now I can protect him. If you ever need help, just call me anytime!”
He struck the pose of a good brother, patting Chen Wang’s back before pulling him into an affectionate half-hug.
But Hua Yunlian saw through his little scheme instantly. He let out a cold sneer and “accidentally” knocked the man’s hand away. “President Yuan, save the sappy words.”
When their eyes met, sparks of hostility flew. Chen Yu Xi wanted to curse, but she couldn’t find a way into the conversation. Chen Wang only hoped that this “Great Buddha” Hua Yunlian would leave soon.
As darkness fell, neither man showed any intention of leaving. Yuan Mingxiao was staying at a local orphanage for the time being, helping out with the children. But Hua Yunlian was from Central City; it was a long journey, and otherwise, he would have had to stay over.
But seeing Yuan Mingxiao’s blatant eagerness toward Chen Wang, the man wanted to gouge the guy’s eyes out so he could never lust after Chen Wang again.
“Chen Wang’s room can only fit one person,” Chen Yu Xi said, crossing her arms.
Chen Wang said bluntly, “If there isn’t enough room, then forget it. Both of you should head back first.”
His mother let out an exclamation of protest, but she was also in a dilemma, nervously rubbing her hands together. “Don’t drive people away, that’s… that’s not polite…”
Outside the window, a few scattered snowflakes began to drift down. If one didn’t look closely, they were almost unrecognizable. But Hua Yunlian stood by the window, and as the wind blew in, this tall, long-legged, and visibly sturdy man gave a slight flinch. “Oh dear…”
His handsome, cold face turned away, his eyelashes drooping, and his amber eyes appeared crystal clear and moist. An S-class Alpha, acting as though he were frozen to a pitiful state by a few nano-snowflakes, looked at Chen Wang’s mother.
“Auntie, it’s so cold.”
Chen Wang’s mother: “!!!” Her heart instantly melted. This child was too pitiful!
“?” Chen Wang stared with the confused expression of a straight man.
Yuan Mingxiao had a tough personality and couldn’t pull off such a performance. He stared at Hua Yunlian, shocked and exasperated. “You!”
Chen Yu Xi made a gesture as if gouging out her own eyes. “Oh my god, oh my god!”
Why isn’t this poser dead yet? Does his family run a tea plantation?!
If he jumped into a river, it would be enough to make tea for everyone in the Federation for the rest of their lives!
