- The Heroic Master Is Tough-Talking but Soft-Hearted: The Aloof Major General Has Fallen
- Chapter 30 - Do Not Waste Your Efforts on Me!
“Major General, are you all right? You have not been to the military department for several days.”
“Did Lord Cen Li punish you? Is the injury so severe that it kept you away for so long?”
“How could a male treat you like this!”
“It seems the Major General’s Master looks decent on the surface, but in private, he is just like other males: brutal, sadistic, and treats females as if they are not even bugs!”
“As expected, all males share the same nature!”
Asher’s subordinates were voicing their indignation on his behalf. As the females’ words grew increasingly radical, Asher frowned and interrupted them. “Watch your manners. Do not gossip about males. Furthermore, who is spreading this news? I only took leave because I needed to look after my Master.”
How could such ridiculous rumors spread after he had only been away for a few days? One bug raised a doubt.
“A male is a fully grown bug; does he really need looking after?”
Perhaps the Major General was lying to them because he did not want them to worry. In reality, Asher was telling the truth. After Cen Li’s body recovered, Admiral Derek had granted Asher leave to stay home and care for him, likely out of concern that the Master’s condition might relapse.
“Enough, stop discussing males. Be careful, or the bugs from the Male Protection Association might take you away. That is a bunch that puts males above all else!” one bug said, trying to smooth things over.
The gathered females clearly did not believe Asher’s words. In their eyes, the Major General’s Master had a track record full of stains. Asher’s explanation felt pale and weak. At the mention of Cen Li, Asher turned his head, instinctively searching for the Master’s silhouette. When he caught sight of a familiar back, his gaze froze. His Master was currently engaged in a pleasant conversation with another female.
Cen Li had walked to the side, just about to sit down and rest, when a female bug called out to him.
“Lord Cen Li.”
Cen Li turned around, eyeing the stranger. The female bug wore a perfectly curved smile, looking elegant and refined. “Lord, I am honored to meet you. I am Quinn, a female from the Worth family.”
He looked at Cen Li with a burning gaze. Cen Li’s voice was cold.
“Is there something?”
Quinn’s enthusiasm did not dampen despite Cen Li’s displayed indifference. He bowed and performed an extremely solemn aristocratic salute. Cen Li stared at him. Quinn leaned down to touch Cen Li’s hand, which was hanging at his side, preparing to perform a hand kissing rite. Sensing his intention, Cen Li frowned and moved his hand behind his back. It was a gesture of rejection.
Quinn straightened up, his face showing regret. He put on a pitiful act. “I merely admire your heroic bearing, Lord. Are you truly unwilling to give me even a single chance to show my goodwill?”
Cen Li curled his lip. “Not interested.”
He had never heard of this bug liking him before. The moment his appearance and legs recovered, he was being publicly pursued; Cen Li found it difficult to believe there was much sincerity involved. More likely, it was a hollow pursuit floating atop interests and superficiality.
Quinn was stunned, then replied, “Lord, you are truly heartless! I will prove my sincerity and determination to you. I admire and love you so much.”
The female’s chanting tone made Cen Li’s temples throb. He warned, “Do not waste your efforts on me.”
Quinn only smiled. Cen Li felt that the bug had not listened at all. He felt a bit annoyed.
The Master talked with that female for a long time. That female bug was facing Asher, a smile hooked on his lips as he looked at Cen Li with eyes full of affection. He had superior looks and a non-aggressive demeanor. It was the soft, submissive look currently most favored by males. Since the Master had his back turned, Asher could not see the expression on Cen Li’s face. They seemed to be having a wonderful time.
Asher thought to himself that the expression on the Master’s face was likely much better than when he faced him. Asher curled his lip slightly; after all, he was the female the Master hated the most. He automatically ignored the memory of the Master holding him that night, convincing himself in his heart. That was just an accident. The Master would not treat you like that. You are simply indulging in wishful thinking.
He recognized Quinn, though they were not well acquainted. Quinn was an aristocratic female whose family status matched the Master’s perfectly; he was indeed a good choice for the Master. Such an outstanding female might even become the Master’s First Female in the future. It was proof that the current Master was a sweet pastry coveted by many females.
Asher gave a bitter smile. Just as he was about to leave, he was blocked by another female bug. It was a military female from the Third Legion.
“Wait, Major General Asher. I have a few things I would like to ask you.”
Though he said he wanted to ask for advice, the female bug’s face showed no respect; it was entirely matter of fact.
“Does Lord Cen Li have any hobbies? What does he like to eat? What does he dislike? What is his favorite color? Is there anything he cannot tolerate?”
Owen threw out several questions in a row. He clearly wanted to pursue the Master! Asher remained silent for a moment. It was not that he was unwilling to tell Owen these things, but rather that he did not know much about Cen Li himself. As a female attendant, he was unqualified.
If one were to ask what the Master liked, Asher thought seriously for a moment.
Whipping him?
Asher felt a surge of uncertainty about the thought that had just surfaced. Lately, the Master had not shown great interest in that matter; in fact, he had not whipped him in a long time. Asher’s prolonged silence caused Owen’s face to grow impatient, assuming he was trying to keep secrets for himself.
“Is the Major General unwilling to share with us?”
