The Heartless Alpha Just Wants to Follow the Plot - Chapter 28
Qiu Fu’s eyes flickered slightly. “What about you? What do you think?”
“Do you want to go on a matchmaking date too?”
Su Mo looked away, hesitating. “Well, how should I put it.”
“If you want to go, then just go.”
Qiu Fu turned and walked into her room. “We’re just business partners. This won’t benefit you. I’ll repay you in installments.”
Su Mo blinked. “That’s not what I meant.”
Bang.
The door shut behind her. Su Mo let out a long sigh, thinking how things had somehow gone so off-balance—when it had been fine just a moment ago.
[Host, the protagonist has awakened.]
Since she had already made contact with the protagonist, the system now displayed some information about her.
[Name: Tan Ya
Gender: Alpha
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 58 kg
Personality: Loving partner/wife (confirmed)]
Tan Ya was even taller than Su Mo, who herself was 176 cm.
However, there wasn’t much information available yet; it seemed Su Mo would need to interact with her directly to fill in the gaps.
Su Mo pinched the bridge of her nose. Seeing that the door wasn’t opening, she returned to her room, sat on the bed, and kicked off her shoes. “Alright, tell me, what do I need to do?”
The system paused, noting Su Mo’s grim expression. [Host, you can rest first. No rush. The protagonist isn’t going to die.]
Su Mo: “…”
[Fine, then tell me.]
The system checked the mission quietly. [This mission is a bit tricky.]
Su Mo perked up, sitting straighter. “How tricky?”
System: [Tan Ya is the only child of the previous head of the Tan family. But since her parents died early, the family estate was taken over by the current head, her uncle Tan Xing.]
[Not willing to remain suppressed by his younger brother, Tan Xing seized the family assets. To secure his position, he publicly claimed that Tan Ya was seriously ill from the trauma of losing her parents, unable to continue her studies, and deliberately confined her at home, giving her only leftover meals. Her life became miserable.]
Su Mo nodded, already feeling the weight of the situation.
[The only light in her life came from a new maid in her household. The maid sympathized but had to work for a living, so while she could not call the authorities, she did manage to provide Tan Ya with slightly better food.]
[Through this “care,” Tan Ya’s understanding of relationships became distorted, which is why she developed a strong desire for a loving partner/wife.]
Su Mo: “Hmm…”
[So, what do I have to do? Deliver an illegible to her?]
System: [Uh, no.]
Su Mo: [Then what?]
She caught the system hesitating and an idea flashed through her mind. Pausing, she asked, “You’re not asking me to turn myself into an illegible to take care of her, are you?”
System: [Impossible! I would never ask you to transform yourself just for the protagonist.]
Quick to prevent Su Mo from saying anything more shocking, the system clarified: [No, no. I mean anyone who has a partner would work.]
Su Mo exhaled in relief—and then realized she didn’t have a partner either.
[Do I really have to go?]
System: [You don’t want to give the credit to someone else, only to watch the protagonist stubbornly oppose you for the sake of some bystanders, and then fail the mission, do you?]
Su Mo: “…”
[Have you ever read a book where the villain gets to witness the protagonist happily pairing off?]
Su Mo tightened her lips, fuming. Could the system get it straight? She was a late-stage villain destined to die—not a heroine whose job was to save the protagonist! Wasn’t this plot completely messed up?
The system, unapologetic, said shamelessly: [Exactly. Absolutely.]
[Here’s the deal: the protagonist’s usual CP has mysteriously vanished from previous events, and her other future CPs aren’t present in this scene or timeline. So, for the plot to continue smoothly, the host—i.e., you—will need to step in and complete certain parts of their storyline.]
Su Mo: “…”
She felt like her lifetime quota of speechlessness had just been maxed out.
[So, how many?]
The system swallowed. [Ten, maybe twelve.]
Su Mo choked and blurted, “Does she have that kind of stamina?”
Realizing where she was, she quickly covered her mouth. Luckily, the room was well soundproofed, so no one heard her.
She coughed lightly, pretending to change the subject. “Wait—you want me to replace twelve harem members to complete their missions?”
That was far too many. She couldn’t possibly manage it all.
The system seemed aware of this, so it assured her she’d only need to hit the key points.
[Host, the villain group is counting on you. You must get the plot back on track and finish the mission properly!]
Su Mo: [I’ll try my best.]
She felt the system’s task was overwhelmingly heavy, and her pressure skyrocketed.
The next morning, when Su Mo went downstairs for breakfast, Qiu Fu was already seated. Since Su Mo had spoken with the old master the night before, everyone in the manor behaved normally today.
The old master sat at the head of the table. His gaze swept over Su Mo as she pulled out a chair, and he coughed heavily.
Su Mo looked at him and smiled knowingly. “Good morning, Grandpa.” She then turned to Qiu Fu: “How did you sleep last night?”
Qiu Fu nodded faintly. “Fine.”
“Eat, or your breakfast will get cold.”
With the old master’s words, the three of them began breakfast.
Today’s breakfast was corn porridge with egg pancakes and a glass of freshly squeezed passion fruit juice.
Qiu Fu wasn’t interested in passion fruit juice and rarely drank it.
Seeing this, Su Mo waved to a servant and whispered instructions. Soon, the servant brought Qiu Fu a glass of fresh orange juice instead.
The old master noticed but said nothing, only feeling a bit regretful. If his granddaughter had stronger spirit or if Qiu Fu had weaker spirit—this wouldn’t have happened. Alas, fate had other plans.
After breakfast, Su Mo prepared to leave, intending to accompany Qiu Fu.
At the door, Pu Ying saw them leaving the manor together. A shadow of sadness flickered in her eyes but was quickly masked.
She straightened up, opened the door of her flying car, and said to Su Mo: “There’s a small issue at the hospital. You’ll need to go in person. I’ll take you there.”
“Alright.”
Coincidentally, Su Mo was planning to go over there anyway, to complete a task.
“I’ve arranged a new manager for you,” Pu Ying said. “She’s one of my long-time trusted people. You can work with her—she’ll take care of your schedule.”
Pu Ying showed no unusual expression toward Qiu Fu. Since everything had been clarified in the room earlier, she would simply do what needed to be done, without developing any relationship with Su Mo beyond that of friend or superior.
“If there’s anything you’re unsure about, let me know. I’ll handle it for you.”
Meeting Pu Ying’s serious gaze, Qiu Fu recalled what Su Mo had said last night and felt a pang of sadness. In the end, Su Mo’s choices were never about them.
It was just unfortunate that she had thought she could change someone.
Qiu Fu nodded. “I understand. I’ll work hard.”
Su Mo grabbed her coat. “We’ll take you back to the villa first.”
Qiu Fu refused. “No need. I’ll just go straight to my apartment.”
The medicine in her system had been neutralized, so she didn’t need to stay by Su Mo’s side for extended periods anymore. She only needed to check in periodically to be marked Su Mo.
Su Mo considered it and agreed. The villa was closer to the old residence and farther from the company; living in the apartment was better for work efficiency.
She nodded silently, not saying more.
Pu Ying spoke up appropriately: “We should take you to your apartment. This area is private—public transports can’t enter.”
Qiu Fu had initially resisted, but with Pu Ying saying this, she couldn’t keep refusing. Otherwise, she’d be stuck there all day.
“Thanks for the trouble.”
“Wait, Miss Qiu.”
Butler Ying hurried out, carrying something, and handed Qiu Fu a red gift box. Smiling kindly, he said, “Miss Qiu, this is from the master. He wanted me to give it to you and said he’s grateful you came to visit.”
Qiu Fu took it, momentarily confused, and looked helplessly at Su Mo.
Su Mo seemed to understand and nodded. “Go ahead.”
Qiu Fu pressed her lips together and nodded at Butler Ying. “Please thank Old Master Su for me.”
Butler Ying chuckled and nodded, watching as the three of them boarded the flying vehicle before returning to the old residence.
The old master sipped his tea and let out a soft sigh. “Did she take it?”
“Yes, sir,” Butler Ying replied.
After a long sip, the old master exhaled deeply. “Such a shame. She seems like a sensible, obedient child. But the Su family just isn’t lucky.”
He shook his head, sighing with regret. This child was ruined.
If his granddaughter had tried a little harder, maybe there would’ve been a chance.
“I hope the things inside will help her live a better life going forward.”
After all, she was an entertainer. Even if she ended up as a ‘wreck,’ with the items he gave and her previous earnings, she could still live quite comfortably.
“The person who made that potion truly caused a lot of harm.”
Butler Ying knew what the old master meant but didn’t comment. He could only shake his head silently.
After dropping Qiu Fu off at her apartment, she disembarked without a backward glance. Seeing this, Su Mo seemed unaffected, which made Pu Ying frown, this wasn’t how she expected things to go.
On the way, she cautiously asked, “Did you have a fight with Qiu Fu?”
“Or did something happen to her at the old residence?”
Since Su Mo had brought her back, no one else would dare bully her, so the only person who could have upset Qiu Fu was Su Mo herself.
“What about the old master.”
Su Mo pursed her lips. “He wants me to go on a blind date.”
Pu Ying: “!”
She gripped the steering wheel tightly. Luckily, the flying vehicle was on autopilot, so the sudden force didn’t knock it off course.
“Why?”
“Why would the old master suddenly make you go on a blind date?”
He surely had some interest in seeing Qiu Fu. But now, he was pushing Su Mo to date? Something had definitely happened and it must have something to do with Su Mo.
