- Chapter 1 - Transmigrating into the School Bully’s Beta Lackey
Early September, and City B was still under a high-temperature warning. The sky was a cloudless azure, the sunlight beating down on the leaves until they drooped listlessly, their shadows swaying on the ground in the breeze.
Song Yu stood under a tree, dragging his suitcase, his dark eyes fixed irritably on the dormitory entrance.
[Host, please check into the dormitory as soon as possible. The lackey mission is about to begin.]
As the nation’s most prestigious comprehensive university, B University boasted infrastructure and faculty that drew everyone like moths to a flame. Whether alpha, beta, or omega, everyone took pride in being admitted to this institution.
“I’m already here! Can you turn off that electric shock threat hanging over my head?!” Song Yu practically gritted his teeth as he spoke.
It had been fifteen days since he transmigrated into this book. Unlike others who might become protagonists or key supporting characters, he had ended up as a mere background beta, a roommate and lackey to the notorious school bully.
The story was a bittersweet tale of broken mirrors mended, a second-chance romance.
It followed Cheng Yao, the illegitimate son of the Cheng family, who was recognized after presenting as an omega. Soft-spoken and timid, he met Lu Zhi during university, an alpha who appeared gentle but was actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The two fell in love, broke up, and eventually reunited.
When Song Yu received the memories transmitted by the system, he was utterly devastated. Wasn’t this just a world of gay romance?!
But reading about the protagonist’s inexplicable inferiority complex in the original story made his blood boil. He had protested to the system, refusing to play along, only to be zapped repeatedly. After spending a full fifteen days in the hospital, he finally accepted the reality that he had become a school bully’s lackey.
[Understood, Host.]
Song Yu struggled to drag his two suitcases up to the third floor. Panting heavily, he leaned against the door of Room 312, pondering the best way to push it open.
Just then, a low, impatient voice came from behind him. “Move.”
Song Yu froze for a moment before turning toward the source of the sound.
The person standing there was around 190 cm tall, dressed in simple, ripped black jeans and a white T-shirt. Beneath the brim of his cap, his black hair was disheveled, and a lip piercing stood out boldly against his lips, neither too thin nor too full, radiating an air of unrestrained, rebellious arrogance.
Song Yu was momentarily spellbound.
[Ding~ The notorious school bully has appeared.]
Song Yu stared without blinking.
Was this Lu Qiwen, the infamous school bully and cousin of the male lead?
In the original story, Lu Zhi’s entire family scraped by working for the company under this man’s father. It was briefly mentioned that Lu Qiwen’s malicious personality caused Lu Zhi considerable suffering.
Midway through the story, Lu Zhi’s father was imprisoned. To save him, Lu Zhi knelt before Lu Qiwen, begging for help, only to be mocked. Later, his entrepreneurial attempts were repeatedly sabotaged. After a series of struggles, he eventually crushed the arrogant second branch of the Lu family into the mud, a classic setup for a satisfying male protagonist revenge story.
“Tch.” Lu Qiwen was already in a foul mood after staying up all night and having to report to school early in the morning. Now, running into someone blocking the doorway with a pile of luggage only added to his irritation.
“Are you going in or not?”
“Ah.” Song Yu snapped back to reality and quickly pulled his suitcases aside to make room. “You go first, you go first.”
It wasn’t until Lu Qiwen led several people carrying box after box of luggage into the room that Song Yu finally withdrew his curious gaze.
He was truly stunningly handsome.
To describe him with a line from the original book: his face was strikingly beautiful and aggressive, the kind of extravagant, glamorous beauty that would steal everyone’s attention the moment he appeared. However, his personality was extremely unpleasant, and everyone saw him as a poisonous flower.
“Is this my bed?” Lu Qiwen’s cold eyes fixed on Song Yu, who was still standing dumbfounded at the door.
Under that piercing gaze, Song Yu grew incredibly nervous and nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes.”
Lu Qiwen’s eyes swept over him briefly before he tilted his chin slightly toward the person beside him.
Before Song Yu could understand what this meant, he saw a burly man in black, who had been tidying up the dorm, quickly stride toward him.
Song Yu: !!
Instinctively, he let go of his luggage, closed his eyes, and raised his hands to shield himself.
Only then did he notice that the two suitcases beside him had already been dragged inside. Looking up, he saw Lu Qiwen’s strikingly beautiful yet defiant face filled with incomprehension at his behavior, along with a gaze that seemed to regard him as an idiot.
Song Yu silently lowered his hands. “Thank you.”
Lu Qiwen snorted softly, his dark eyes sweeping over him before he sneered, “I don’t see any gratitude in that.”
Song Yu couldn’t argue and could only lower his head in silence.
“I have very high standards for where I live. I can’t stand cheap, low-quality things, so your bedding has to be the same as mine.”
Song Yu’s brown eyes nearly brimmed with tears, his heart filled with bitterness.
Young master, not everyone is as wealthy as you!!
He sighed and was about to say something when Lu Qiwen suddenly raised his hand. The burly man who had helped Song Yu with his luggage stepped forward and immediately took out a set of bedding in the same style but a different color as Lu Qiwen’s and began arranging it.
Song Yu’s eyes widened.
Young master, no, brother! My dear brother!!
So this is what it feels like to be the lackey of a malicious campus bully!?
He was almost moved to tears, wanting to hug Lu Qiwen and cry.
Like his previous life, the original host was also an orphan. The only difference was that at the age of ten, he was adopted by the Song family and sponsored to learn piano, all in an effort to climb the social ladder.
[Warning: Host’s OOC level has reached 50%. The system will administer an electric shock as punishment.]
Song Yu quickly wiped the expression off his face.
In the original story, the host enjoyed the benefits of being Lu Qiwen’s lackey while secretly harboring feelings for Lu Zhi. He even slandered the campus bully online, only to be hastily expelled in his sophomore year, with his adoptive parents refusing to acknowledge his existence.
That was also when his mission would end.
The previously empty dormitory was quickly transformed into a comfortable space by the burly men. During this time, Song Yu attempted to help, hoping to earn some favor with the campus bully.
However, just as he was about to shatter the third cup, Lu Qiwen finally couldn’t hold back. “Are you that bored?”
Song Yu paused, slowly raising his head to look at Lu Qiwen. Under his light brown curly hair, his large eyes blinked. “Wh-what’s wrong?”
Lu Qiwen sneered a few times. “You’re asking me what’s wrong?”
“If you break one more, even everything you own probably won’t be enough to pay for it.”
Following his gaze, Song Yu looked down at the shattered pieces of the cup at his feet. He forced a dry laugh and silently placed the cup back. “Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to.”
As the saying goes, it’s not stupidity that’s scary, it’s stupidity combined with diligence.
“Whether it’s intentional or unintentional, the outcome is the same, either you’re morally flawed or you’re just plain foolish. What’s the difference?”
Song Yu shrank back, too afraid to speak.
Once the dorm was finally tidied up and the burly men had all disappeared, Song Yu took a deep breath and threw himself onto the incredibly soft bed.
Money really is wonderful! Even a university dorm could be this comfortable!
Song Yu couldn’t help but giggle foolishly, his fair cheeks flushed from rubbing against the sheets.
When Lu Qiwen came out of the shower, he saw Song Yu looking like a complete idiot. He silently took two steps back, his face filled with disgust. “You’re lying on the bed in those clothes?”
Song Yu knew this young master had a cleanliness obsession and was just finding fault with him.
For the sake of his own comfortable life, he quickly jumped off the bed, his eyes determined. “I’ll go change right now!”
Lu Qiwen: “…”
That really wasn’t necessary.
Humming a tune, Song Yu opened his suitcase, pulled out his pajamas, and bounced happily toward the bathroom.
However, this bathroom had been renovated by the Lu family’s people before they moved in. Faced with such high-tech fixtures, Song Yu stared at them for a long time but couldn’t figure out how to use them.
“Um, excuse me…” Song Yu poked his head out, his forehead already covered in a fine layer of sweat from the heat. “How do you use this?”
Lu Qiwen had already taken out his phone, ready to play a game. Hearing this, he clicked his tongue impatiently and walked over to the bathroom.
Song Yu lowered his head at the sound, burying it like an ostrich, too afraid to look at him.
“How do you use it? Like this.” Lu Qiwen demonstrated with a dark expression. “Got it?”
Seeing the faint flames of anger burning in the other’s eyes, Song Yu didn’t care whether he understood or not, he just nodded frantically.
Better to freeze in cold water than offend the campus bully!
Lu Qiwen narrowed his eyes, watching the other’s utterly foolish expression, and shoved the showerhead into his hands, crossing his arms. “You do it.”
“Huh?” Song Yu held the showerhead, its scalding heat no less intense than holding boiling water at 100 degrees.
Seeing the campus bully’s mood worsening, Song Yu decided to take a desperate gamble. He silently counted in his head and randomly flipped a switch.
With a whoosh, the fixed, wall-mounted showerhead sprayed cold water, drenching both of them to the bone.
Song Yu: … My life is over.
